Hey guys, came on to have a catch up as not been on for ages but luckily it's been a quiet weekend.
Congrats @Larrydavid
@ELW85 wow! Who leaves clothes on a hob and doesn't notice the burning smell?! Hope they're insured??
@PippaPug glad you checked your furniture, was it all in the same box or had they sent you different boxes (like Ikea?)

23 weeks for me today and little one is moving so much now it's amazing! Only 6 more working days till my hols too and I'm so excited to get there! (Not so much about the long ass flights and super sexy flight socks!)
Also, it's my 2 year anniversary today so we're off out tonight, going to chiquitos, and they have my fave cocktail as a mocktail so I'm looking forward to that 😍🤤
Have a great Monday all. 😘

MrsH497 · 14/10/2019 13:21

@Larrydavid I'm 9 weeks now got my scan on 6th November just trying to work out the logistics of work (typically being awkward!)

MrsR16 · 14/10/2019 13:45

Hey ladies, sorry I've not been around for ages! Enjoyed a week off work last week. Quite scary in that the next time DH and I are off together during the week, it'll be because the baby is here! 😳

Fantastic to see you here @Larrydavid just wonderful news 😊

@BabySquid ooh, happy anniversary! October's a great month to get married in for sure (my 3rd anniversary was last Wednesday!) awesome to hear baby's moving around so much! Mine had hiccups again this morning... 🙄 I can't believe you're 23 weeks already! Where's that gone?!?

@MrsH497 what logistics do you need to sort? I'm happy you've got a scan date through!

Tropicana1 · 14/10/2019 14:05

Has anyone invested in a good maternity coat yet? My Barbour is rapidly getting too small and I'm running out of time for a new one 😂 taken to wearing DHs coat on dog walks now!
I've been looking at some nice ones on seraphine that have an extra panel for when you're baby wearing which seem good but they're very pricey and I don't want to invest if anyone has better recommendations?

28 weeks now! Hello 3rd trimester. I've had a couple of really light headed faint breathless episodes out on walks even when I've been taking it really slowly - anyone else have any experience with this? Midwife appointment tomorrow so will mention it to her too (if I bloody remember!)

MrsH497 · 14/10/2019 14:53

@MrsR16 because it's at 1130.. hubby is nights so I need to go home and pick him up (obviously he doesn't want to miss it!) my normal hours are 7-3 and I work 40 -60 away from home. Hospital is 40 mins from home anyway. I've suggested I go in for 7 as normal leave at 9:30 and then won't come back in. Manager suggested I took the day as AL or TOIL????? Then said I can't mix hospital appt with TOIL either. Anyone got advice? Can't help where I work or where hospital is, hospital advise not to change the date and time of appointment and DH wants to be there but needs sleep!

MrsEG · 14/10/2019 15:22

@PippaPug Oh what a pain about your furniture!! At least you checked!

@BabySquid Enjoy your anniversary and holiday! Where are you off to?

@MrsR16 Hope you had a fabulous week off!

@Tropicana1 I got my maternity coat from eBay, it cost me about £12! Definitely worth a look. Mine is H&M and so roomy and cosy. I feel breathless all the time, even going up and down the stairs! Worth mentioning anyway to the MW but I think it’s fairly normal!

@MrsH497 Hun that’s not correct at all. By law your employer must give you paid time off for antenatal appointments, which include scans and midwife checks. Absolutely no way should you have to use AL at all! Fight back on that!

Nursery shopping went pretty well, we ordered our cots and they are being delivered tomorrow!! Talk about a quick turnaround. Went for a long swim last night too and feel all the better today for it!

BabySquid · 14/10/2019 15:40

@Tropicana1 I've just had to buy a new coat, my superdry hasn't zipped since getting it back out for winter, I didn't get a maternity one, I just got a big sized Parker from George for like £30. Thought it pointless spending a fortune for something I'll wear for a few months.

@MrsH497 agree with @MrsEG your employer must give you time off for appointments. Go to HR.

@MrsEG we're off to Perth Australia 🇦🇺 can't wait! We're looking at moving out there and DH has a couple of meetings with some companies so 🤞🏻🤞🏻 they can sponsor us and we'll be out there within a couple of years!

PippaPug · 14/10/2019 15:45

@Larrydavid I remember being shocked by it all! How’s the tiredness going? I’m ok having more energy atm which is fab but I think I’m heading into more restless nights sadly, the last few I have tossed and turned all night which is frustrating!

@BabySquid - it came in three boxes, but one of the boxes has half oak furniture and half white - goodness knows who packed it and didn’t notice they were putting in the wrong coloured pieces! We now have it three huge boxes opened in the lounge as no where else to put it safely so it’s such a eyesore!

@MrsH497 - I think it’s the fact you are wanting all day off for the appointment? And your leaving two hours before your apt? Can your husband get public transport there? So then you can leave at 10.30? Harder to say what time you will be back however as the apt’s can run over!

@MrsEG - so pleased we checked - apparently the piece isn’t going to come till end of November which I’m not impressed about! All of the cabinet is white accept this oak piece which is the top so it’s very noticeable! Where did you get the cots from in the end?

MrsEG · 14/10/2019 16:06

@BabySquid Oh yes I remember now! That sounds like an amazing holiday, have a fabulous time!! I bet it’s getting lovely and warm over there now too!

@PippaPug We ended up ordering the cots in the Wayfair sale, I’ll upload a pic. Hoping they look just as lovely and me and DH build them! Found a big 4-door wardrobe in Argos too so that’s ordered, I think it comes next week. Just need to get the room painted pretty urgently now ha!
Oh how annoying - the end of November too! What a pain!

PippaPug · 14/10/2019 16:43

@MrsEG - just check your furniture clearly - that’s where our chest of drawers came from 😭
They look lovely! Are they going to share one cot to start with?

MrsEG · 14/10/2019 16:50

@PippaPug Yep - we’ve bought too just so we’ve got them, but they’ll share one in our room for the first 6 months. It should just squeeze in with us!! Just need lots of swaddles, blankets and Gro bags now!

OP posts:
MrsH497 · 14/10/2019 17:41

@PippaPug no I've said I'll got in for my usual 7 and work till 9:30 which is the latest I can leave to be there for 11:30. I finish work at 3 so by the time I then drive back into work it'll be 1:30/2. I've never suggested the whole day off that was manager saying it would be easier for them if I had the day off and used AL.

MrsH497 · 14/10/2019 17:45

Just read your message properly @PippaPug no where we live public transport isn't an option doesn't go direct to hospital would take 1hr 30 minimum.
The hospital is still 1 hr from where I work 😐

I'll have to speak to my manager DH May have to fork out for a cab I guess.

Fivebyfive2 · 14/10/2019 18:28

Hi all! Hope everyone is OK for a wet Monday night?

So my manager confirmed today that they will be topping up my smp with a fixed amount each month, for the full 12 months!! It's a massive help to us and will mean I can definitely have 9 months off and maybe even the full 12 if we use our savings wisely 😀 Dh is really happy, I think it's taken some of the pressure off. Still got to confirm when I'll be finishing, but I might use some holiday and go off as soon as 16th Dec, starting leave in Jan... But can confirm that in a few weeks.

@Tropicana1, helloooo pregnancy twin! I can't believe we're in the 3rd trimester!! Sorry to hear you've been having funny spells, definitely mention it to the mw xx I don't have a maternity coat, but do have a parka that I got from tk max last year for £20...normally it would be miles too big, but I kept it in the cupboard in case I needed an oversized coat for this reason 🙂

@MrsEG, that's great about your furniture!! What a quick service 👍

@MrsH497, you should be able to have time for appointments without taking leave! Definitely try to talk to someone to sort it out. Xx

Anny27 · 14/10/2019 18:36

Hello ladies!

@Larrydavid honestly it gets slightly better but i still want to sleep all the time 🤣🤣

@Tropicana1 one good thing about 3rd trimester during summer is probably wont need a maternity coat! But definitley a must be for a winter 3rd trimester !

@MrsH497 how far along as you now?

Did anyone suffer with dizzyness in 1st trimester? It isnt too bad but definitley feel a little light headed

MrsR16 · 14/10/2019 18:45

@MrsH497 your employers have to give you paid time off for all antenatal appointments! Doesn't matter how long it'll take you to get there or back, they should give it to you. I'm sorry they're being so difficult - I thought my place was bad enough! It's not your fault if it falls awkwardly for them. They have to deal with it.

@MrsEG it was lovely! Ventured to IKEA one day and went to Cambridge another! We also had the nursery plastered although we're waiting for the plasterer to come back and look at a few issues 🙄 I'm excited about your cots!!

@Fivebyfive2 that sounds great! You lucky thing!

@Anny27 definitely dizziness was absolutely a thing! It's horrible, but a good reminder to take things easy for sure.

thumper59 · 14/10/2019 21:12

Good evening ladies I've got well behind again!! 37 weeks today and it's my last week at work. 🥳

Cancelled the Moses basket and got a refund, went to our local mamas and papas and ordered a different one that should be here Wednesday- Thursday latest so fingers x'd they don't let us down too!

Having a lot of tightenings, my bump seems lower so I'm hoping he's wriggling the right way! Feeling quite heavy and achy now but still managed a full day in ikea and homesense yesterday- nothing will come between me and shopping 😂😂

Hope your all well xx

purplefig · 15/10/2019 09:30

@Larrydavid so good to see you here!

@MrsEG glad yoga was good - I must sign up to the next block at my studio, I so enjoy that zen feeling too. Fab you're starting to get regular movements. Mine seems to be always after food Grin. Gorgeous cot!

@ELW85 oh gawwd that does sound like a lot of drama - hope it all works out for the best in the end. So exciting about the birth prep and baby classes - we've got our NCT starting in Dec and I think it's going to make it all feel so real!

@PippaPug rubbish about the mix match of furniture - seems to be so common to get mix ups like that. Grrr.

@BabySquid Happy Anniversary for yesterday - hope your meal and mocktail was good. Is it oz you're off to in a few days?

@Tropicana1 I picked up a maternity coat on eBay during the summer when I thought I'd get a bargain Grin lots on there now still. I'm in mine already, it's so bloody cosy. Will be great for baby wearing once they're here too!

Babymoon was GLORIOUS! We went on lots of dog walks, I did some yoga and we read by the fire. Lots of decadent details like midday baths and chocolate for breakfast too. Feeling very chilled out and happy! Have a fab Tuesday all x

MrsEG · 15/10/2019 09:52

@Fivebyfive2 Oh how fab about your SMP top up! That’s great news. 16th Dec is almost the same as me, my last day is the 17th. Feels scarily close doesn’t it!! But also nice to know all done before Christmas :)

@Anny27 Not dizzy but I would be lightheaded, make sure you’re eating plenty (I kept so many snacks on me) and drinking loads of water as sometimes it’s just a blood sugar thing!

@MrsR16 Sounds lovely! Hope you get the plastering sorted soon so you can get painting!

@thumper59 Happy last few days of work! How exciting. Have you lots planned for your few weeks before baby arrives?

@purplefig Your babymoon sounds wonderful! Chocolate for breakfast is always a good idea!! Hope the pooch enjoyed it too :)

Well, I am officially taking my first sick day of my pregnancy today. I can’t sleep with the hip pain and was also up for a while with terrible heartburn (pizza, how could you do this to me). I think I got a grand total of maybe 3 hours sleep? At one point it was 2:30 and I was just walking up and down the stairs to try and loosen my hips a bit. So am currently snuggled on the sofa feeling a bit sorry for myself.

OP posts:
BabySquid · 15/10/2019 12:12

@purplefig yeah it's Oz we're going. A week tomorrow we'll be in the air!
@MrsEG man your hip pain sounds horrid, a well deserved day off I think. Take it as easy as you can.
This little one was dancing on my bladder all last night during our meal so I think I went to the loo about 3 times within two courses haha!! Seemed to settle after a belly full of Mexican though, maybe not enough room!?! 😂

Does anyone here live in the north east? I'm planning on going xmas shopping to the metro centre and wondered if Monday 2/12 would be a good or bad idea?!!

Lemonysherbet · 15/10/2019 13:25

@Larrydavid I'm doing well thanks, nausea is coming in waves along with cramps but they're worrying me less as the days go on. Got my private scan on Saturday, should be 8.5weeks so hoping I get to see lots :) how are you feeling? Has it sunk in yet?

@MrsH497 sounds like a bit of nightmare with your work, they are required to give you time off for appointments I guess it's just hard as its nearly a whole day which is why they're dragging their feet about it. Can you move your hours about and do a longer afternoon shift so you're only losing a couple of hours which they would expect to lose?

@BabySquid have the best time in Oz! Super jealous. Have you got family there?

@lokicat how are you doing? Haven't seen you on here in a while (or I'm just blind)

Someone at work worked out I am pregnant. First person apart from one friend and my DH to know! She was very excited which was nice, but also a bit brutal about early MC which shocked me. She has quite an abrupt personality though so trying not to take it to heart!

Nearly midweek... I don't want to wish my life away but I want the weeks to fly by a bit 😁

MrsH497 · 15/10/2019 13:50

@Lemonysherbet wish I could my line manager does the 9-5 shift and can't/won't do the 7-3. Think I'll just have to suck up using TOIL. I'm fed up there desperately looking for a role I enjoy!

ELW85 · 15/10/2019 13:59

Afternoon all!

Sorry I’ve been a bit absent; I’m so tired from the ridiculousness of the weekend.
To cut an even longer story short, DH’s brother ended up staying with us for a couple of nights and is now getting his own place.
It’s all crazy!
I also couldn’t sleep last night so I feel like I’m wading through treacle trying to get through today. Out for Lebanese food later though!!

@purplefig - your babymoon sounds amazing! I might have to suggest one to DH 🤔

@BabySquid - I’m in the North East! I think an early Monday is a great idea. Hopefully not too many people are off.
And no, sadly she didn’t have insurance (I say she as it’s her house and didn’t tell him she didn’t have cover).

@MrsEG - how’s your sofa time? I’d also be devastated if pizza did that to me. It’s a staple!!

@thumper59 - happy last week at work; and nearly half way there!! How are you feeling?

BabySquid · 15/10/2019 14:50

@Lemonysherbet no we've no family there but we do have friends who moved out 2.5 years ago. But we're looking at moving too so off to check out some areas etc.
@ELW85 Lebanese food sounds great but I wouldn't know what they do! We don't have anything like that here I don't think! Enjoy 😊
