Morning :D had some nausea during the night (6+5) so maybe this is the start of a new symptom

@MrsH497 thats exciting you have your scan date :D not long now!!

@LokiCat happy 12 weeks :D is that end of 1st trimester or is that 13 weeks? A big milestone 🙌🙌🙌

@MrsEG areas are so different arent they. My SIL had her scan booked early on and had her first midwife appointment as a home visit

Happy friday all!

Fivebyfive2 · 11/10/2019 09:50

Hi all, sorry I've been quiet, we headed off to Cardiff yesterday and get back tomorrow. Doing some sightseeing (Castles mostly 🙂) and our hotel room has a big telly and dvd player, so we can chill with some films and snacks in between!

@MrsEG, my mum would totally pull rank about coming to scans! Glad to hear your aqua classes are going well xxx

@PippaPug, omg I've heard alllllll the stories from ladies at work, although admittedly they told me most of them before I was pregnant! It's a weird thing isn't it, how different people think certain things are appropriate?! Xx

Happy Friday all 😀

PippaPug · 11/10/2019 10:18

@LokiCat - I bet your excited for your 12 week scan!
I’m feeling a bit better I’m just over the horror stories, it’s just not needed!

@ELW85 - I’m feeling better but just a little sensitive about it all still! How are you and your wonderful little bump?

@MrsEG - I’m glad pregnancy yoga is working out so well for you, that’s great! Your area seems great for classes, ours has some but they are at the worst times ever! I’m trying to remind myself that every woman is different and every pregnancy is different....nothing to say just because it’s two I’m going to struggle.

@MrsH497 - glad your scan has come through - your be counting down the days!

@purplefig - I wonder if your theories about why women tell the negative stories are the same?! I am now just going to ask if their story is positive or negative to hopefully think before they continue, don’t want to come across rude but I don’t want another 5 odd months of this!

@LikeTheFruit - ohhhh your job must be fascinating! Do you enjoy it? I’m a bit worried about the idea of epidural, but not sure really - I think it’s the fact I can’t move around of my own free will and I’m stuck?!

Would you have a epidural? I’m glad however it’s very unusual to have one naturally and one a c section that’s reassuring.

@fivebyfive2 - can’t work out why people think these horror stories are appropriate and it’s like they have a look of glee on their face when they are telling me 🙄

Hope everyone is having a good Friday and looking forward to the weekend, any one got any plans?

MrsEG · 11/10/2019 10:40

@Anny27 Yep I find even different hospitals but in the same area even have different policies! Your midwife should be able to confirm how and when you’ll get your appointments booked.

@Fivebyfive2 Hope you’re having a great time in Cardiff! I really want to plan a little local baby moon soon! Aqua was fab - slept like a baby after it!

@PippaPug Oh no! Yeah I’ve been quite lucky with classes here thankfully! Yep - exactly that, no two women or pregnancies are the same. Try and just keep a positive mindset about it all :) You can always have a good chat with your consultant about your birth preferences too - I totally forgot this time as I was too busy asking about movements but it’s on my list for the 24 week appt!

Happy Friday ladies! We have no plans tonight so may stay in and watch that new Breaking Bad film. Got a play date with my niece tomorrow to give my sister a few hours off, then meeting another friends baby boy on Sunday! Somewhere around all the babies I’ll be cleaning the spare room ready for painting hah! Happy weekends all :)

@MrsH497 hahaaa glad it's not just me - it was very satisfying, properly cleaned out the fridge. And the floor still smells like Dettol this morning!

@LikeTheFruit ahh that's handy you can pop in and grab one at work - hope the clinic times work with your shifts.

@MrsEG hahaa that classic mum tactic - usually works. Oh yes, you can't beat that fresh kitchen feel. So glad you enjoyed your class - and how great you met another twin mum! That's quite a few you've met now?! Must be picking up some decent tips Grin

@PippaPug Hmm...well I think it's a mixture of many things but a big part, I think, has to do with processing trauma. If they haven't had the space to do that, I think it's a strange part of healing and also an attempt to take back power/control of the situation. But if that is the case, it's really not the appropriate outlet. I think asking whether it's a positive or negative story and then declining if it's the latter is a really good idea.

Happy Friday everyone! What are we all up to this weekend? I've got a busy day of work and then this weekend we're off on our Babymoon (any excuse for a mini getaway)! We're not going far, but staying right on the coast in a cute cottage. I don't plan to do much beyond go on some bracing dog walks, read my pile of books, eat good food and hangout with DH. Can't wait!

purplefig · 11/10/2019 10:51

@MrsEG I always seem to cross post with you Grin - sounds like a fab weekend. If you did see the film, let me know what you think - I'm definitely intrigued! Have you decided on a paint colour for the boy's nursery? I've decided to stick with white and we're going to pop some colourful wall decals up - just spots or something simple I think. I've seen a few ideas on Pinterest and it looks quite effective.

LikeTheFruit · 11/10/2019 15:14

@PippaPug yeah I love my job! Favourite patients to look after are the very elderly and those with multiple medical problems so my future is like in anaesthetising for bowel/bladder/prostate etc op. I do enjoy some obstetrics too though. Some places offer "walking epidurals" where you can mobilise more than standards one. If I go into spontaneous labour which is progressing well I hope to avoid an epidural. BUT, if it's going v slowly or if I'm induced and need hormone infusing then I'll definitely get one. But who knows! I might get one contraction and think stuff this 😂😂😂

Just had a lovely afternoon meeting up with one of my friends and her 9 day old baby. So lovely just to hold her and watch her. 😍. Can't wait to have my little one in my arms!

Has anyone started looking at nurseries for when you go back to work? I was asking someone at work and they had it all sorted for well before baby was born and now I'm a bit Confused

MrsEG · 11/10/2019 16:37

@purplefig I know! She lives really local to me too, and will be on mat leave when I am so I’m hoping she becomes a regular at this class and I can maybe tag along to some of the twin toddler groups she mentioned!
For the nursery we are going grey walls and white furniture I think. I also want a subtle nod to Dumbo so I’ve found some lovely prints on Etsy :)
Ah your babymoon sounds absolutely lovely - enjoy!

@LikeTheFruit It’s crazy how early you have to look in to it!! I am hoping to get in to the same one my niece is at, but I’ve not spoken to them yet. I’ll probably drop them a note in the third trimester and see what they say! My sister did say though that her daughter was here before they enquired (but she was literally about 8 weeks old!) - I think it depends on what waiting lists are like!

ELW85 · 11/10/2019 16:37

Afternoon all!

Sorry I’ve been quiet - I was absolutely wiped out yesterday but feeling a bit better today.
I had my 16 week appointment today (16+6) and I got to hear the heartbeat and the baby actually moved whilst she was using the Doppler. It’s nice to know he’s moving around even though I can’t feel it yet 😊

The MW thinks I’m fighting something off as opposed to anaemia so she didn’t take any bloods; all in all, everything looks great!

@MrsEG - I had my flu jab the other day, so hopefully it kicks in soon! So pleased you had a good time at aqua natal.
Enjoy the film; we’re also clearing the nursery and might even get round to painting this weekend!

@purplefig - thanks so much for the recipe and the tips on the headaches. I do feel better today and I’m struggling to stop myself from eating so it might be the opposite problem, haha!
Enchanted Interiors does lovely decals if you want a browse?

@PippaPug - I hope you’re gradually feeling better. Some people don’t have the sense they’re born with, so you just look after yourself and the little ones! I’m feeling better thank you, and it was amazing to hear the heart beat today. So comforting.

Happy Friday all! It’s been an eventful one; from the MW appointment to finding out my SiL burned her kitchen down and doesn’t have house insurance. Brilliant.
Tonight is our little indoor date night though, so really looking forward to relaxing with DH!
Have a great one, all! Xx

purplefig · 11/10/2019 16:39

@LikeTheFruit oh I know the feeling, I can't wait either. That lovely newborn smell all for you!!! Hmm I'm not sure, I suppose it depends on your area and how competitive places are etc. We have a nursery that is a two minute walk from our house so, provided they seem decent, we'll hopefully use them if we decide to go down that route. But I haven't contacted them yet, still feels way too early...but maybe that's the done thing? I'm planning to take 9 months off and then just go back 1 or 2 days a week (I'm self-employed so can be fairly flexible), so it just hasn't been a huge priority of mine as of yet.

purplefig · 11/10/2019 16:44

@MrsEG ahhh I've done it again...twice in one day cross post!!! Grin. That's fab about the twin mum, I'm hoping to see some of the ladies I've met at pregnancy yoga around town / at baby groups on maternity leave too. Fab there are special twin groups set up in your area! Nursery sounds lovely and those prints sound gorgeous - that dang elephant is so cute. Yours sounds much more refined than mine which has basically turned into: all the animals. Bahahaa. Yes thanks, I'm really looking forward to the quiet break with DH (and the firstborn...I mean dog).

@ELW85 really glad you got to hear the heartbeat - did you find it surprisingly emotional?! I remember thinking it wouldn't be a big deal, but somehow it was really touching to hear them beating away in there (I'll blame the hormones as per). Glad it's hopefully nothing serious and just your body fighting something off, that's great news. And thanks for mentioning Enchanted Interiors, I'll check them out. Enjoy relaxing with DH. Your poor SIL...what a nightmare :/

MrsEG · 11/10/2019 16:50

@ELW85 Glad you got to hear the heartbeat! It’s amazing to hear isn’t it?! Twin 1’s sounded like a horse galloping! Glad to hear you’re just shaking off a bug - I think being pregnant in winter, it’s something to get used to! I’ve had a constant cold now for weeks!! Ohh night nurse how I miss you! Oh god - your poor SIL!! How has she managed that?!

@purplefig Ha, cross-post Friday! My sisters nursery is animal themed, she has some lovely silhouette decals on the walls. Yeah I love Dumbo - gives me an excuse to introduce some circus-type stuff in too for a splash of colour!
Have a super time with the firstborn! Hope the rain stays away.

ELW85 · 11/10/2019 17:01

@purplefig @MrsEG - thanks ladies! It was beautiful hearing his heart, like a really loud ticking I guess? And definitely very emotional. I also had a little cry when he moved. What a weirdo 😂

Well, my SiL (specifically DH’s brother’s OH) left clothes on top of a hob (that she’s left on) and left the house to go to work. Ironically, she’s a carer.
Thank God the kids weren’t in the house although she went in to the fire to rescue the dog who had to stay in the vets overnight.
I don’t know where to begin or end with how ludicrous it all is.
Obviously we’re just all relieved she (and everyone is ok) but the house is ‘unliveable’ so it’s going to take a while to turn around.

MrsEG · 12/10/2019 13:42

Morning all, happy Saturday! Just back from yoga and feeling very zen! There was a girl there who is just over 40 weeks!! She came along to see if it would spur things along! Off shopping with my wee niece soon - wish me luck ha! She’s 17 months old and so much fun these days but has a habit of shouting ‘DIE’ really loudly (she thinks she’s saying ‘bye’ 🙈) in public places!! Hope everyone has a good weekend planned :)

@ELW85 I truly have no words for your SIL! Who puts clothes on the hob?! Like you say I’m glad to hear everyone is okay (poor pooch!) but if I did that I think DH would want to shoot me!!

Larrydavid · 12/10/2019 14:28

Hey ladies - can I rejoin you guys on this thread? It's still early days for me so I may lurk for a while until I'm further along! It's so nice seeing how you're all getting on - and is definitely helping with my early pregnancy anxiety!

Have a good weekend! X

MrsH497 · 12/10/2019 14:51

Hey @Larrydavid so lovely to see you here! How are you? X

ELW85 · 12/10/2019 16:07

@MrsEG - I actually laughed out loud at your niece shouting ‘DIE’ 😂 I hope shopping has gone well?
The house drama continues and looks like it has split BiL and SiL up. Long story that I won’t bore everyone with!

@Larrydavid - welcome! How are you feeling?

I hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday?
We’ve just booked our birth prep and baby practical classes at the hospital for Jan/Feb. Can’t wait!

Lemonysherbet · 12/10/2019 17:09

Hey @larrydavid welcome :) how are you doing?

It's quiet on here today! I'm all snuggled up watching... A crappy channel 5 Xmas movie 😂

@MrsEG

I'll probably cry at it too damned hormones. I'm feeling super anxious these last few days, I used to suffer anyway, pregnancy seems to be the perfect setting for it to reinvent itself!

@MrsEG lol at the DIE! Sounds like a fun day out all the same 😂

Lemonysherbet · 12/10/2019 17:10

@MrsEG not sure why I tagged you mid post there, fatfingers.com

Fivebyfive2 · 12/10/2019 17:48

@MrsEG, how did the shopping go with your niece? I proper cackled at the 'DIE' information! Xx

@ELW85, just catching up and read properly about the house drama, I'm so glad that no one was hurt at least. I'm sure it's mega stressful for all involved... Maybe they'll come through it eventually? Xx

@Larrydavid, great to see you here 🙂

@lemonysherbert, your day of being cosy with a Christmas film sounds fab! Xx

Cardiff was ace, but it's nice to be back home! Having a Chinese later 🙂 Hope everyone is having a good Saturday evening? Xx

MrsH497 · 12/10/2019 19:52

Hey ladies hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday. Think I was exhausted didn't wake up until midday!! Went shopping with my mum and she wanted to look at pushchairs and baby things! Was good talking to people about the different functions etc.

Currently waiting for DH to finish his 12 hour shift and then snuggle up with a sausage casserole and mash!
Xx

Anny27 · 13/10/2019 09:08

Morning ladies :D

@Larrydavid glad you have joined us :) hope you are feeling less tired xx

@ELW85 oh my goodness, thats a relief your SIL, kids and her dig are okay! That could have been so much worse!

@MrsH497 ahh so exciting to look at pushchairs :D i have had a sneaky look in Mothercare 🙈 but will wait a little longer before i actually look

I am 7 weeks today and same old symptoms, no real nausea yet but i do dry heave a lot haha!

MrsEG · 13/10/2019 10:38

@Larrydavid Congratulations!

@ELW85 oh god I can’t believe they’ve split, although saying that I can just imagine how DH would react if I’d done the same! Sounds like it’s been a stressful weekend! Ah great news you’ve booked your classes. Ours start early December! I booked on to a baby first aid course today too, for November. I honestly wouldn’t have a scooby what to do in an emergency!!

@ELW85 @Lemonysherbet @Fivebyfive2 Looking after my niece went well and no shouting DIE this time! She does her best to say Aunty but it just comes out ‘Anne’ so I spent most of the day listening to her scream ‘ANNE’ around John Lewis!!

Happy Sunday ladies! We are buying our nursery furniture today, I’m so excited! 21 weeks now. Can’t believe in 16 weeks they’ll be here. Starting to really notice a pattern of them moving early morning and late at night now too. It’s very freaky but so awesome!

OP posts:
PippaPug · 13/10/2019 15:36

Hello, how is everyone doing?

@Larrydavid - lovely to see you here, how are you?

Some of our furniture has arrived....we ordered white and somehow they have delivered us a chest of drawers which is half white wood and half oak 🙄 luckily we checked it first before putting it away in storage!

Hope everyone is having a peaceful weekend ☺️

Larrydavid · 14/10/2019 10:53

Hello! Hope everyone has a good week ahead planned. Mine is busy!

@PippaPug I'm good thank you! Still a bit in disbelief about the whole thing. How are you getting on?

@MrsEG thank you! Hope nursery shopping went well!

@Anny27 I've never felt tiredness like it. Can't stay awake past 10pm!

@Fivebyfive2 thanks! Hope you're doing ok!

@Lemonysherbet I'm good - still nervous and wondering how anyone makes it through this first trimester. It's like time has stood still! How are you doing?

@ELW85 I'm good thank you! Just very tired with sore boobs but apart from that, good! How are you?

@MrsH497 I'm well! How far along are you now?

Have a good Monday ladies x
