These were both taken today which is crazy as they look so different but I think a lot depends on the angle. There was nothing there yesterday!
I might have also just had a WFH nap. Absolutely necessary!

@MrsEG - you look absolutely amazing! Are you looking forward to yoga tonight? We’re heading out for food with our friends so I’m going to try not to commit carbicide (Italian food 😍)

@purplefig - hello lovely! Yes it’s my MW appointment on Friday so not long to wait.
I’m pleased it wasn’t just me who felt The Capture was a bit lacking.
On to World on Fire now, so hopefully that keeps its momentum!
You got a great bargain in the charity shops! Inspiration for a day in town at the weekend I think 🤔
Also, I think Pregnancy + has a kick counter, but I can’t be sure. That’ll definitely be a great resource when the time comes.

@MrsEG you look amazing!! Such a gorgeous bump

@ELW85 yours is lovely too I think it's definitely starting to pop

So I've reversed my car into the wall on our drive today 🙃 scuffed the whole of the alloy and wing 😫 stupid drive on a stupid angle (I'll blame that even though I've been parking on it for 2 years now with no issues) so I'm in a little mood, came home and got on the sofa with the dogs and I am still here now 😂

LokiCat · 09/10/2019 17:28

Ahh so glad the workday is over. So much closer to the weekend!

@MrsEG ahh gorgeous scan!! That must have been so lovely to see. How amazing that they're already head down as well. I can't believe you can tell how different they already are as well and you can start to see their personalities through the scans!
You look gorgeous btw, love the dress and bump!

@ELW85 oh bless you, I'm not looking forward to my jabs. Your bump is lovely, definitely seems like you've popped!
Nausea is pretty constant, although today was a lot better. I had a proper lunch so I'm happy. Someone also brought in a Celebrations box so I may have had a little treat Grin

@LikeTheFruit wow that's come so fast! That'll be so wonderful being the first one to know and then announce it after baby arrives, lovely idea.
Enjoy your evening! I love me a pasta dinner Grin

@purplefig I definitely can't wait for that to happen, especially in time for our holiday. Lots of good food is a huge part of a holiday for me 😂
DH is still working nights, so not sure when we'll catch up on Capture! A lot of people have said it wasn't that great, so I don't feel like I'm missing much.
Thanks for tips re flu jabs at Boots. Midwife said they'll try at 16 weeks appointment if any are available otherwise I'll book in with Boots!

@thumper59 oh no, sorry to hear about your car! Definitely stay on the sofa and have a relaxing evening. I hope you'll be able to sort it out?

I got a Baby on Board badge from the station this morning; I'm so tired by the time I commute home that I need a seat! I've never been so excited to wear a badge 🙈😂
Hope you all have a nice evening. Another evening on the sofa with the cats for me 😊

MrsH497 · 09/10/2019 17:33

Oh @MrsEG what beautiful scan pictures! And a beautiful bump!
Also @ELW85 beautiful little bump there!!

GBBO catch up for me tonight I fell asleep about 10 mins in last night!

purplefig · 09/10/2019 18:06

@ELW85 hi bump! I can definitely see a lil bump there - just gorgeous! I reckon you'll pop by week 20 Grin. Ooo not long at all for your 16 week appointment - just FYI they don't always check the heartbeat as it's not always the easiest to find at that stage, and it can cause more anxiety than it's worth. I went in thinking they wouldn't and it was a nice surprise when she offered. Ooo haven't heard of World on Fire...I think I'm going to give the telly a break for a bit, I've been a fiend for it lately!

@thumper59 sorry to hear that - aren't dogs the best salve for everything though!?

@LokiCat oh yes, 100% with you there! I don't think you are missing out much tbh, it was a weird one really. Be interested to hear what you think. Fingers crossed your MW has some available - but good to know you can get elsewhere if needed. Good for you getting a badge, gotta make the most of it Grin

What's everyone up to this evening? I'm off out on the usual dog walk and then it's home to a slow cooker butternut squash and chickpea curry (it's such a good recipe). Enjoy your evenings all x

MrsEG · 09/10/2019 18:16

@purplefig I’m still 50/50 as a natural twin birth still isn’t without its issues! Also, she did say they could still move again - but the fact they are both face down at 20 weeks is a good sign! We’ve got our eyes on a chest freezer at the moment on sale at Argos so I just need to measure up to check it’ll fit! I then just need to stock up on more Tupperware haha. Sounds like a fab charity shop haul. Ooh that sounds like a fab curry, is it one with coconut milk etc as if so I think I’ve made something similar!

@ELW85 I think that’s definitely the start of a bump there! Oh Italian food sounds fabulous!

@thumper59 Oh no!! Oh how annoying for you!! My wing mirror fell off the other day and that was enough to make me burst in to tears (the car is only 2 years old, why would it just fall off?!) Hope the dogs are cheering you up!

@LokiCat Ah Thanks lovely yes it was so amazing to see! Enjoy the badge - even though I live miles from London and hardly ever need to use public transport, I’ve always wanted one haha!

@MrsH497 Enjoy GBBO!

Skipping yoga; having bloods drawn today and I’m not sure what happened really but in DH words I started ‘pissing blood’ - they managed to stem it really fast and I felt fine, but the last hour or so I’ve just felt shattered and can hardly keep my eyes open. I need to pop to the vet now for the dogs top-up worm and flea treatment and then I think it’ll be an early night for me!!

OP posts:
PippaPug · 09/10/2019 18:31

@ELW85 - how are you doing today? I can see a bump just starting to pop out, how exciting!

@MrsH497 - could you try different vitamins - or pregnacare drops or gummies? I can’t take the tablets at all, but I can tolerate the gummies (just!)

@MrsEG - what a fabulous scan photo and a wonderful bump photo too - sounds like you have had a really good day today!

@LikeTheFruit - are you a midwife? I’m intrigued about the twin births you have seen! I know that twin 1 needs to be head down, it’s a lot of pressure on a teeny one so I will try and sit patiently and just see how we get on!

@Purplefig - I can’t wait to see photos of your nursery! Sounds adorable! I have my eye on the penguin suit from Jojo - just could to push buy!

@LokiCat - Good for you for getting a badge, I wore mine at around 12 weeks (I had been off before that) because I had/have no balance and was also shattered by the end of the day - it’s a god send!

I’m just wondering how you deal when someone decides to tell you a negative pregnancy story? (Or just a negative story about labour/birth - or in my case today about twins) saw someone today and mentioned about twins and she proceeded to tell me this negative story...I didn’t say anything but I walked away and when I got home I just burst into tears and now I have anxiety about it.
I understand telling you the dangers of cot bumpers for instance - but this was unnecessary and she gained nothing from telling me this story apart from to worry and stress me out. (Sorry I’m being vague as I don’t want to worry anyone else!)
I’m now on the sofa feeling like crap and don’t really know what to do when people try and force stories onto me?!

thumper59 · 09/10/2019 18:54

@LokiCat glad you've got a badge!! Growing humans is tiring. It'll have to go to paint shop but it will be fine, I'm just annoyed I've been dopey enough to do it 😫

@purplefig tea sounds yummy! I haven't walked ours in a few days I feel so guilty but tiredness has took over! They go to my parents everyday where there is loads of room to run around so it makes me feel less bad. Also our Yorkie I'm not sure if he really hates walks or really loves them but he's a bloody nightmare on his lead. They are I don't know what I'd do without our terrors!

@MrsEG that would really annoy me! My hormornes have been weird during pregnancy. Pre pregnancy if I was due on I would of cried over the car, or anything remotely inconvenient. Pregnant me has just kept so chilled! It's annoyed me but it's just a car and it will get fixed. I don't know where this new found zen-ness has come from 😂. When DP was talking to someone the other week they'd said had I been all over the place with hormones and he'd said no I've just been my usual self so if he didn't take an opportunity to slag me off it must be true 😂

Attached is an unrelated pic of my gorgeous boys- because, well when isn't an autumn picture of dogs suitable! I gloat about them whenever I'm given half a chance like they're my actual first born children 😂

@PippaPug tried the gummies couldn't stand the taste! Tried Morrison's own and seven seas ones so will speak to midwife and see if I can take folic acid and vit d separately.

Anny27 · 10/10/2019 08:16

Morning ladies :D

Home from an exhausting work trip. I work in construction industry (office staff) but there was a visit to a site that involved going up a huge tower in a rickety tiny lift with all the hard hat gear on so had to tell the site manager yesterday as i didnt think it was safe for me haha! I feel pressure now like ahhh if i lose the baby i have to go back and tell him specifically. But will just have to try forget about that!

@LokiCat ooh baby on board sign is a good idea deffo! I have 3 days of london commuting next and hoping i can get a seat as feel so tired!

@ELW85 gorgeous bump :D

@LikeTheFruit thank you! I called the midwife and my booking appointment is in 2 weeks time when i will be 9 weeks :)

@MrsH497 thank you! Have you had your scan date through?

purplefig · 10/10/2019 09:08

@MrsEG fingers crossed it fits and you can get cookin' up a storm! Yes so this curry you make using spices and tomatoes to make a paste (that gets slow cooked with the veg) and then at the end you add in a tin of coconut milk and spinach. So bloody tasty on a cold night! Sorry about the blood issue at the drs - are you feeling better today? Good call to take it easy I think - yoga can wait.

@PippaPug just googled it - is it the light grey one? Very adorable!! Unfortunately I'm far too stingy Grin. With regards to people sharing traumatic stories - I am generally quite a laid-back person but having done hypnobirthing I've really come to understand the power of words and storytelling and I've decided to be quite firm on this topic. There's some good advice + ideas of how to respond here: thebirthingjourney.com/2018/01/21/how-to-say-no-to-the-horror-birth-stories/ - maybe practice a few out loud in words that you feel comfortable with and then next time you'll be good to go? FWIW I'm really sorry for anyone that's had a traumatic time of it, but there is a time and a place for working through the trauma and with an anxious mum-to-be is not it! Hope you've managed to shake off the experience and are feeling brighter today. On a sort of relevant note (and it's not remotely as bad!) I had an elderly male shop assistant telling me all about how awful the baby days were yesterday...while I was visibly pregnant buying baby clothes...it's a bizarre part of our culture.

@thumper59 ahhh you can probably get away with it though, they're only little cuties and I bet a run in a big garden is enough on some days. We've got a 35kg beast, so if he doesn't get his daily romp on the beach he's a right pain in the arse Grin.

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope you all have a lovely day - any exciting plans? x

MrsEG · 10/10/2019 09:17

@PippaPug Thanks lovely! Wow, how incredibly rude! I can’t say I’ve had a similar experience (why would someone say that to a pregnant woman!!) but I do have every man and his dog trying to tell me their birth stories, plus I do know of quite a lot of horror ones from friends in the past. I think you should absolutely feel comfortable saying ‘I’d rather not hear this!’ - I definitely would! There’s a time and a place. For example one of my best friends ended up with PTSD post birth but when I see her since being pregnant all she tells me is how wonderful being a mother is! As soon as you think a story is a horror one just stop it dead in its tracks!

@thumper59 Oh they are so gorgeous!! This is our boy - I bet you could squeeze four of yours into one of mine haha! He’s a big gentle giant though. We refer to him as our first born haha!

@purplefig curry sounds lovely! I’ve made a nice saag for lunch today :) I feel okay this morning but felt dreadful yesterday. I honestly don’t really know what happened but I am on aspirin so I wonder if my blood being thinner just caused it to go mad; the player literally popped off and blood just spurred like a volcano!!

Happy Thursday!! I am at the hospital again this morning for my thyroid repeat bloods, last time they were excellent though so fingers crossed. I’d love for them to discharge me from endo as it’s just another pill that I’d rather not keep taking!! Then I have my first aquanatal session tonight. Have good days all!

@purplefig That should be plaster and spurted - it’s clearly still too early!!

OP posts:
PippaPug · 10/10/2019 09:54

@purplefig - Yes it’s that one, I know it’s a lot of money but it’s just so cute and I have looked at it for the last month now! And I know I will be gutted if it gets sold out before I buy it!
I’m normally quite laid back (in person but in my head I can stew on it) and normally these things wash over me but this really got to me, but I was so so shocked and didn’t expect what she was going to say. I was rather emotional all last night and then when DH got in last night I just really really cried (he was a bit confused at first 😂) I feel better this morning, I had a better nights sleep as well which has helped ☺️

@MrsEG - how is the arm now, are you feeling better? Thank you for that I think I’m just going to ask if it’s a positive story or not and just to stop them in their tracks - I want people to realise that their one negative story isn’t fine, but when you have had 6/7/8 negatives stories and no positive ones - it does get you down. And 99% the negative story has no baring on me and all it does it put negativity in my mind....I feel women should be supporting each other and not telling each other about horror stories! Jealous of your aquanatal session - can’t find anything round here as I really wanted to do something like that!

MrsH497 · 10/10/2019 12:51

@Anny27 not had it through yet but I need to have my bloods tried again which might have delayed the date coming through

LokiCat · 10/10/2019 12:52

Hi all! 12 weeks today I cant believe it! I have my dating scan next Wednesday and I'm sooo excited to see little bubba moving about!

@purplefig butternut squash and chickpea curry sounds absolutely delicious! Sounds perfect for an autumn/winter night. Hope you enjoyed and had a good evening :)

@MrsEG oh no, how's your arm now? I think an evening of rest was the best idea after that. Haha I think the novelty of having a badge also played a big part in getting one now
Awww gorgeous doggo! Enjoy your aquanatal session tonight.

@PippaPug I'm so sorry you had such an awful evening because of the story you were told. How rude! I don't think there's any need for people to share stories like that, I don't know what they're hoping to gain from it. I haven't dealt with anything like that myself, but I think I'd definitely question why they need to share that with me and stress me out. They definitely need to understand that it's not on at all!
I hope you're feeling better today?

@thumper59 they really do. I can't believe how much I'm yawning by the afternoon!
Your dogs are so cute!

@Anny27 oh it's definitely better that you shared that with him, it's more important that you're safe!
When you're in London next I'd speak to a TFL staff member or go to the information desks at the bigger stations for a badge; they seem to keep a stash of them. That's what I did yesterday at London Victoria as I kept forgetting to order one! Nothing worse than not having a seat after a tiring day!

Hope you're all having a lovely day z

ELW85 · 10/10/2019 14:05

Afternoon all!

Thank you all for the lovely comments on my emerging bump :) he's definitely getting there!
I'm pleased I've got my appointment tomorrow -I woke up at 4am with an awful headache and have felt really shaky all day, so she's going to do full bloods etc. as it could be anaemia. I think it's more likely I'm fighting off the office flu but best to get checked!

@thumper59**@MrsEG - your fur babies are absolutely gorgeous! I wish we had one.
@thumper59 - how are you feeling after your car incident?

@purplefig - your curry sounds immense! That might have to be the second recipe I ask to steal following the cheese baked potatoes :)

@PippaPug - how are you feeling lovely? Some people have no boundaries when it comes to pregnancy. I was saying to my friends last night, for some reason people feel like it's acceptable to touch your stomach, comment on your size, give you horror stories of labour. They're best just totally ignored, but I know it's not that easy.

@LokiCat - happy 12 weeks!! How are you feeling? I hope you get some good use out of the badge :)

@MrsEG - fingers crossed for you on your bloods; I hope you enjoy aqua natal tonight!

MrsEG · 10/10/2019 14:39

@PippaPug I’m feeling much better!! I agree - there’s a time and a place for negative birth stories and it’s not to a pregnant woman! It’s one of the things I quite enjoy about my pregnancy yoga as there is a big focus on ‘positive birth’ which I really enjoy. She always really specifically includes me in it too, even though my birth plan/preferences may be very different to the other girls in the class! Some of the best advice I got was just remain positive and enjoy the pregnancy, there is nothing to suggest you will have anything other than a healthy 9 months and a wonderful birth and just focus on that, and be prepared with your birth plan etc!

@Anny27 I was given my 12-week scan date at my booking in appointment, but I know it differs from place to place.

@ELW85 Oh gosh I hope it’s not anaemia! Get some spinach in to you ha! Hopefully it’s just a cold - have you had your flu jab yet? Everyone in my office is coughing and spluttering - I just want to lock myself away!

My bloods were all fine, thyroid is functioning at optimum levels! I don’t have to see the endo team again now for 2 months, hurray. Next appointment now is my 24-week twins growth scan, which mum and sister are currently fighting over who can attend!!

OP posts:
MrsH497 · 10/10/2019 16:46

Hey ladies my scan date has come through!! 6th November I can't wait! Nurse eventually got blood out the back of my hand 5 attempts later I'm such an awkward patient! Midwife was at the stage of referring me to hospital and having it done under ultrasound!

Hope everyone has had a nice day

purplefig · 10/10/2019 17:00

@MrsEG oh would you just look at him?! What a gorgeous, happy boy. Saag sounds delicious! Glad to hear you're feeling better after your pissing blood incident and super duper glad the hospital appointment went well, so amazing you don't have to see them for another two months now, bet that's a huge relief. And it's so lovely you get another scan at 24 weeks...who will win the fight between your mum and sister I wonder? Have a fab time at your aquanatal session, it sounds lovely!

@PippaPug I would definitely get practicing your "thanks but no thanks" spiel, as unfortunately people love to share their horror stories with pregnant women. It's so thoughtless, but it remains a part of our culture (I have lots of thoughts on why but I won't harp on about it here and bore you all to death Grin ).

@LokiCat I bet you can't wait - it's so great getting to see them! Don't forget to take your money in (I think most like it in cash) if you want to buy a scan picture.

@ELW85 Afternoon! Or is it evening now!? Sorry to hear you've got a horrible headache and are feeling shaky. It's really handy you've got an appointment tomorrow and hopefully getting all your bloods done will either flag something up that can be remedied or reassure you all is well and you're just fighting something off. FWIW I started getting really frequent headaches in the 2nd trimester and was getting really annoyed (so hard to get work done!) and I eventually realised I wasn't eating enough Blush. I doubt that's applicable to you are you seem much more sensible than me Grin, but just thought I'd flag as making sure I ate a proper breakfast, lunch and dinner totally solved the issue for me. On which note, you've just reminded me of the twice baked cheesey spuds...getting on that next week! Ok so the curry is here: www.veganricha.com/2015/11/chickpea-sweet-potato-spinach-curry.html . I like to make the paste part up in the morning and whack that in the slow cooker along with some chopped tomatoes and any frozen veg I'm using. Then before dinner I add the coconut milk along with the beans and spinach. Pretty low effort and tastes incredible!

@MrsH497 exciting - not long to wait at all!

Have a lovely evening everyone! No need for a dog walk today, as DH popped home at lunch and walked him. I think I'll do a youtube prenatal yoga video instead - I need to move after a day stuck at my desk. Then it's kitchen cleaning day...very rock n roll I know. X

MrsH497 · 10/10/2019 18:03

Ooh @purplefig I love a good kitchen cleaning session (yes I am that sad!) also like rearranging things!!

LikeTheFruit · 10/10/2019 18:03

@MrsEG yeah defo need to cut down my meal sizes!! Yeah been to lots bit of course never the both vaginal ones. Often do epidurals for these women though. Twins are so lovely to be there for!! Love that dress!

@purplefig so finally caught up on the Capture. They've left it very open for a potential second series! Felt unfinished. Yeah I had problems booking in for flu jag. 24th was best they could off, fortunately working in a hospital means there are flu clinics on but it's just finding the time to get to them when now busy.

@PippaPug not a midwife, I'm an anaesthetist. So only really go to the births with intervention (section/forceps etc) and the odd vaginal delivery when someone has asked for an epidural very late on and they deliver while getting my kit ready 😂😂. Don't pay attention to any negative stories, I feel I've seen just about everything that can go wrong and I'm still doing it 😂😂. Also the vast majority of twin birth I've been aware of/involved with have been fine. Most are elective sections/ emergency sections in people planning to have one but go into labour and then just doing epidurals for the vaginal deliveries. It's unusual to need to go to theatre for number 2. Also I think people n general tend to exaggerate for effect, take everything with a pinch of salt!

@MrsH497 glad they managed to bleed you eventually! It would be one of my anaesthetic colleagues wielding the US if you ever need it. We get evwrywhere😂😂

@thumper59 they're gorgeous l!!

Ended up doing an extra on call shift tonight at work 😭 but have negotiated getting tomorrow and Monday off to compensate so can't complain too much!

MrsH497 · 10/10/2019 18:28

@LikeTheFruit how much of a problem are my stupidly deep veins likely to be during labour if I want pain relief etc?! Any tips for improving my veins?!
I tried everything today, kept hydrated, arms were nice and warm. The nurse who did it eventually was a phlebotomist and she struggled! 5 tries overall today and a wiggle around the back of my hand later and we bled! Such a palaver!

LikeTheFruit · 10/10/2019 20:15

@MrsH497 there's not much you can do really. Generally easier if you're well hydrated and warm. In late pregnancy the veins tend to become much more obvious and bigger. Don't worry about pain relief, the midwives frequently call us for help when people are tricky. You'll definitely not be denied adequate pain relief!

MrsEG · 10/10/2019 22:02

@MrsH497 Sounds like an ordeal!! Glad they found a good vein in the end!

@purplefig Mum is trying to pull rank and say she has to go first!! It is really nice to know I’ll see them again in 4 weeks :) hope you enjoyed the big kitchen clean! I never feel more accomplished than when the kitchen is spotless, dishwasher emptied and everything put away - even if it only lasts a few hours!

@LikeTheFruit It’s so reassuring to read that so many twin births are fine and uneventful! Glad you’ve managed to get a long weekend off work - enjoy it!!

Aquanatal was fabulous tonight! I really really enjoyed it. Met one mum who already has 17 month old twins and is expecting number 3 (just one baby this time around!) It felt so lovely being in the warm water - I think I’ll sleep soundly tonight!
