@LikeTheFruit wow 18+4! Time is flying - glad you're feeling better and have some energy back. How exciting about your kitchen - are you redesigning your flat to have an extra bedroom? Fingers crossed you get home in time for The Capture! Oh and FWIW I didn't get any proper movement until after my 20 week scan, before that it was just vague gurglings that could 100% have been digestion.

@thumper59 Sorry you've still got acid reflux and breathlessness - that pregnancy glow amirite?!?! I'm only 5" (and not quite an inch) with a short torso to boot, so I'm surprised I'm not huge already tbh. I thought I'd be one of of those people that pops at 12 weeks Grin. Got some decent kicks today after lunch (spicy Brazilian stew)...so guessing that tasted good!?

@PippaPug no honestly, you've been so helpful. You're full of knowledge!! Good to know pram and snow suits are the same...thought that was another item of clothing I needed for a minute. Oh god, I only have to look at our little 0 - 3 month penguin themed one and it basically makes me well up. Your pregnancy massage sounds utterly amazing - let us know how it goes. I've got a hot water bottle on my back at the moment as it's just started to twinge.

@MrsEG Thanks for the tips - I remember using vodka on my old vintage clothes, but I was a uni student then so it could have well been an excuse to crack out the good stuff! This is for a blanket my great aunty knitted for me, so it's 28 years old and a bit musty smelling, just don't want to damage it. Plus we've got a load of newborn clothes from our friends who don't have a tumble drier, so they've got that slightly musty smell. Oh you've got a really exciting few days coming up...excellent telly tonight, scan tomorrow and then twin consultant meeting too! Enjoy - I absolutely loved the 20 week scan, the level of detail is insane and you get a proper good look around in there. Get ready to say hi boys!

@MrsH497 I hope you feel better soon - colds are rotten at the best of times, especially when you're pregnant! I found lemon and honey hot water soothed my throat. Also I did take a bit of paracetamol which I wouldn't normally have for a cold, but it definitely took the edge off.

@ELW85 totally normal - I felt really un-pregnant around that point! I didn't have much of a bump at all (just looked vaguely bloated...like I normally do post dinner) and couldn't get any movement (and people kept asking!). I found listening to the heartbeat at the 16 week midwife appointment really boosted me (though they don't all offer this as it can be tricky to find, so not worth the stress), and then it's not long until the 20 week scan. And by around about then, you should hopefully get some movement. I didn't get mine until a few days after the scan - and the sonographer said lots of women don't feeling anything before the 20 week scan. It's tricky - but just try and enjoy this phase of feeling fairly normal and getting to eat whatever you fancy.

@Fivebyfive2 you guys are on a mission at the mo, very impressive!

I'm starting to think about stocking up our freezer with some homemade meals ahead of the bambinos arrival. First things first, I need to acquire a chest freezer as our fridge/freezer won't cut the mustard for my plans. I'm thinking lots of veg/bean/lentil based soups/curries/casseroles...it'll be February so I'm planning to properly hibernate for a couple of weeks Grin.

Have a fab evening everyone! I'm off on a long ish dog walk (feel like I haven't moved in days thanks to this cold..finally going today I think) then it's all about The Capture. Enjoy whatever you get up to x

LokiCat · 08/10/2019 17:51

Hi all!

@thumper59 that's great news that the baby is engaged and not likely to move again. How exciting, it's getting close!!

@purplefig I know!! I'm so sad that I can't keep anything down, especially since I enjoy the food so much whilst I'm eating 😂
Happy The Capture day! Yup finale tonight, although I won't be watching it as DH is on a night shift unfortunately. I will try to avoid the spoilers! Enjoy the dog walk!

@LikeTheFruit wow 18+4! Time is flying! When is your 20 week scan? Will you be finding out what you're having?
Seems like ours peaked at the same time, so hopefully mine calms down as well by 13 weeks.
Oh thanks for informing me, I'll try not to get my hopes up too much about hearing the heartbeat then and will have a nice surprise if I do 😊
Hope all goes well with kitchen delivery!

@PippaPug unfortunately same thing happened after lunch today (I think I was too ambitious with a sandwich)! So I just chomped on some grapes instead to fill me up. Currently in the process of making some soup since it's the only thing I can manage.
We're heading to the Baby Show at Kensington Olympia in London next weekend. I think there's one at the end of November in London as well.
Ooh thanks for the info; they sound like a great company, especially with the chart about what to put baby in whilst sleeping because that's one of the things I was worried about. I will have a browse through the website - thanks! I hope the massage helps your bad back.

@MrsEG thanks! I'm hoping mine calm down too. The symptoms clearly want to play havoc with me before they disappear in the second trimester!
Ahh how cute, a little Sesame Street family!
Glad those tips helped, hopefully the pain starts to ease off.

@MrsH497 sorry to hear you still have a cold! I hope that scan date comes through soon!

@ELW85 ah sorry to hear you're having some wobbles. I think it's understandable to be worried before we feel any movement, but as everyone has said it is still early stages. I hope the midwife appointment this week will make you feel better! Then not long till your next scan :)
I'm managing! I just feel really hungry all the time now but I'm scared to eat too much 🙈

@Anny27 oh sorry you're feeling anxious; I was literally saying the exact same things a few weeks ago! Wishing the nausea would show up to make me feel better (definitely regretting it now 😂). Hopefully the next few weeks will fly by till your early scan date. I tried to keep as busy as possible at work and on the weekends to make time move faster!

I'm going to go indulge in this soup. Glad it's the right weather for it at least! Have a good evening all x

PippaPug · 08/10/2019 18:00

@MrsEG - I never ever thought about twins - I mean there is no twins in our family either side, these babies clearly have other ideas though!
I’m now looking at my maternity belt wondering if I try it again 😂

@Purplefig - ohhhhhh I wonder if you have got the same pram/snow suit I want for the twins?! Our nursery is going to be penguin themed 😍 lots of baby clothes have multiple names - and shops have different names for it all too which makes it even more confusing!

My pregnancy massage was wonderful, I really really enjoyed it! I lay on my side and she did half my back, the back of my leg and then I turned over and she did the other half of my back, and the back of my leg - supported by a pregnancy pillow then I was on my back and she did feet/legs/arms and then bump - thought I would hate that bit but I really enjoyed it followed by a mini facial! Not sure it would be worth £75 for a hour but at half price it really was, and my parents have paid for it as a belatedly birthday present which was a lovely treat!

I’m hoping DH will be back to watch the capture tonight, but unsure if he will, however hope you all enjoy it!

Lemonysherbet · 08/10/2019 18:26

Thank you all for all the love, too tired to tag everyone but I do appreciate it. Slightly less grumpy today, and I'm still alive after white spirit incident!

I'm still v.early, 7 weeks tomorrow but spoke to the doctor today to get a higher dose of folic acid as I'm carrying a little extra timber, and it made it seem so much more real. I asked about my smear as I've recently got a letter, and he was like oh no you'll need to wait until baby is here now until you have one. Just someone else saying it out loud made me go oh yeh, baby 😂

We've booked an early reassurance scan for a week on Saturday so we will be 8.5 weeks. So anxious but also excited. Such a scary time but really trying to enjoy it!

Anyway, sorry to just ramble about myself, I hope everyone is ok.

Just making a huge batch of potato and leek soup to feed the 5,000 if anyone wants to pop by for their tea

ELW85 · 08/10/2019 19:04

@MrsEG @thumper59 @Fivebyfive2 @purplefig @PippaPug - thank you all so much for the kind words! It's really reassuring to hear the we all go through similar experiences/wobbles although I wouldn't wish them on anyone :)
I'm sure I'll be feeling great after the MW appointment on Friday and then about 3 weeks to the scan!

And to second what @puplefig and *@MrsEG*said; happy Capture and GBBO day!
I think tonight is the finale? Let's hope they do it justice!

@Fivebyfive2 - the Snuzpod looks fantastic! Are you happy with it?

@purplefig - I think batch cooking is a wonderful idea! Are you going to go on a post-Christmas cook off, if you get a freezer in Black Friday maybe?

@MrsEG - cannot believe it's 20 week scan time!! More than half way :) how are you feeling; is your pelvic pain getting better?

BabySquid · 08/10/2019 19:13

@ELW85 I had all kinds of anxiety before I started feeling movement and getting a proper bump. At 15 weeks I convinced myself something had gone wrong and I didn't know but hearing the heartbeat at the 16 week apt was amazing and I felt so much better.

@purplefig I'm also planning on batch cooking a heck load, need to get rid of some stuff out the freezer first but planning on cooking after xmas.

I was really looking forward to watching bake off tonight but my brothers gf has asked me to go round and take off her shellac🙄 so catch-up tomorrow for us. DH is making dinner for tomorrow so atm I'm laid on the sofa with my belly out marvelling are what a little mountain it's becoming 🥰

ELW85 · 08/10/2019 19:19

@BabySquid - thank you 😊 and it’s lovely to hear that you’ve got a lovely little mountain!
Must be a day for nails...my mate has just got a gel done for the first time!

MrsH497 · 08/10/2019 19:31

Lovely ladies anyone struggled with sickness and pregnancy vitamins? They were making me nauseous so thought I'd try them in the afternoon/evening today maybe 5-10 mins later I was sick (first time in either pregnancy and not been sick in a long time!) any advice? Can I just take folic acid as I never had issues with that but every version of pregnancy vitamins I have some sort of issue with.
So on top of a cold and a lost voice it adds to my feeling sorry for myself! Hubby had treated us to food and I just didn't feel like eating after 🤢

Up at 2:45am again so bake off in bed I think.

Fivebyfive2 · 08/10/2019 19:34

@ELW85, yeah we're really pleased with it! Fairly easy to assemble and it fits really well in our room, just the right height for our bed. I can just picture little Homer in there 🙂

@MrsEG, I loved the look of Joker and Phoenix is always amazing. I just can't see why there are so many articles about people walking out and the worry about it inciting incidents, as I really didn't think it was that shocking? Maybe it's more in America, where there are more nutters to worry about?! Let us know how your scan is tomorrow, it's so exciting that you're 20 weeks 😀

ELW85 · 08/10/2019 20:55

@Fivebyfive2 - that’s such a lovely thing to be able to visualise 😊 so happy you’re pleased with it; it does look great!

@MrsH497 - it’s recommend to take vitamin D as well as folic acid. I’ll see if I can find a link to the guidance 🤔 your early start sounds really exhausting!

MrsEG · 09/10/2019 06:06

@purplefig Oh how lovely that you have a family heirloom blanket!! We’re thinking very similar for stocking up the freezer but I also wanna express a lot of milk too to help me feed two, which also needs freezer space...! We’re getting tempted to just buy a second one and keep it in the back with the washing machine. We’re thinking chillis, curries and stews - then all I’ll need in the cupboards is rice!!

@LokiCat Hope you’re feeling a little better soon and that the soup stayed down!

@PippaPug We’re the same! DH has a set of second cousins, very distant relations, who are twins - and that’s it! And we’re both from huge Irish families!! It never once crossed my mind we would ever have twins (although I weirdly dreamt about it right when I got pregnant - but I had a lot of crazy dreams around that time!!) Your massage sounds fabulous!

@ELW85 I watched GBBO but missed the Capture for bed ha, will catch up tonight! Pelvic pain is still there but I really think increasing my vitamin D intake this week has helped me a bit as I’m not waking up nearly as much! Glad you are feeling a bit better now :)

@Fivebyfive2 Yeah I agree with that; I think it’s more of an American concern given the state of things over there, and how trigger-happy he was with a gun etc! There were some extremely violent scenes!

Happy Weds! I crashed in to bed at 9:30 so have been wide awake since 5:30!! Scan day and consultant day too! I said to DH last night ‘Remind me to ask the sonographer if she agrees it’s two boys’ and he was like ‘What?!’ It had never occurred to him it could be wrong - he was like ‘but I’ve told everyone!!’ I’m so sure it won’t be, they looked very obviously like boys on the last scan, but you gotta check!!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 09/10/2019 06:36

Morning all!

The Capture was...ok? It kind of started off well as a series but not sure about the end. Promise I won’t spoil it though!

@MrsEG - happy scan day! How exciting 😀 I’m sure it’s still two boys but it would always be good to double check!
Please let us know how you get on.

LokiCat · 09/10/2019 07:01

Morning all 😊

@MrsEG soup stayed down thankfully! I made a huge pot so that'll be my dinner for next few days I think 😂
Happy scan day! Yay you get to see little bubba's again. Good idea to double check that they are boys. Hope all goes well :)

@PippaPug your massage sounds amazing! I hope it helped your back!

Have a brilliant day everyone x

ELW85 · 09/10/2019 08:02

@LokiCat - sorry I totally forgot to tag you in my thank you post last night! Baby brain 😳
I don’t know if this is helpful or not, but mini cheddars were a saviour for me when I was feeling nauseous and was struggling to eat!

LokiCat · 09/10/2019 08:50

@ELW85 oh don't worry about it! I hope you're feeling better this morning?
I have kept a pack of TUC and Ritz biscuits at work and at home, but I think the salt on them is getting a little sickly for me now as well!

MrsH497 · 09/10/2019 08:55

@ELW85 thank you I'll speak to the midwife tomorrow when I see her I'm not going to take something that makes me sick as I won't be taking the nutrition in.

Is it the weekend yet?! So tired and it's only Wednesday lol

@MrsEG that is the sort of thing I'd say I would definitely just want to make sure!!

MrsEG · 09/10/2019 10:07

20 week scan went amazing! Confirmed two boys; there was absolutely no denying it with twin 1 haha he is not shy at all!! It was such a long detailed scan and they were happy with everything, and... drumroll please... they have both shifted to head-down position!!! All that yoga is paying off haha!

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 7!
OP posts:
ELW85 · 09/10/2019 11:04

@LokiCat - feeling much better thanks; I can’t quite move my arms from my jabs though 😂
Ah yes, Ritz and TUC - classics!
Are you getting the nausea off and on or is it pretty constant? It can be tiring but it definitely does get better.

@MrsH497 - no worries, and hopefully your MW can shed some light on how to supplement what you can take in.

@MrsEG - congratulations! What wonderful photos 💕 I bet you just fell in love all over again!

LikeTheFruit · 09/10/2019 12:09

@PippaPug I know what you mean about not "feeling pregnant". I feel pretty normal and haven't really got much of a hint of a bump! But I'm 5'9'' so wonder if that's part of it. Can defo feel my uterus though which is nearly upto belly button. How was the pregnancy massage, I'm looking forward to booking one later! I've seen/been involved with lots of twin births so have a bit of experience. The main thing is which was twin one is positioned as @MrsEG says. If cephalic (head down) all good to go for vaginal delivery. Twin two can be a wee awkward bugger at time and not follow in head down and sometimes needs emergency section. An epidural isn't a bad idea of going for vaginal as can be immediately topped up to go to theatre if needed.

@thumper59 sorry you're not sleeping well there's nothing worse! Have you found anything helps your reflux?

@MrsEG thanks for reflux tips! After being so ravenous all first trimester I've been surprised at how not too hungry I am now. Gorgeous scan pics!

@ELW85 I'm 18+5 today, have pretty much no symptoms and no visible bump. I've had a good poke around my tummy though and can feel my uterus thought. I only started feeling some movements in the last few days and even then I'm not convinced they're not just wind! Have you had your 16 week mw appointment yet? Almost more reassuring than hearing heartbeat was the mw examining me and measuring my "bump". Good to know growing at expected rate

@Anny27 welcome and congratulations!! I think it depends on where you live. Where I am (Edinburgh) you phone midwives directly and book booking appointment and scan at same time over the phone. I said exactly the same thing about lack of symptoms and oh my did they come with a vengeance!!

@purplefig I know! Where is the time going, been so busy recently with work, courses and weddings that it's flown by. Yeah, we're moving the kitchen into our big lounge, so it's all open plan and old kitchen will before bedroom number two. Just has kitchen delivered that DH is going to fit. Argh!! Didn't get to see The Capture last night so will get it on later.

@LokiCat 20 week scan is next Friday!! Can't believe it. No, we're going to keep it a surprise. Going to use the not knowing as wee bit extra motivation in labour! And I want to be the first to know/announce it! Hope the nausea calms down soon for you!

@MrsH497 yeah I think Pregnacare are not helping with nausea. Have to be strict and take them on full stomach otherwise I'm retching about a half hour after taking it. Folic acid and vitamin D is all that's recommended.

Day off today! Kitchen just been delivered, going to visit good friend and her week old baby later then out for dinner with friends. Craving pasta so convinced then to go Italian!

thumper59 · 09/10/2019 12:25

@Fivebyfive2 eeek I can't wait! The snuzpod looks gorgeous. I've just got our bedside crib brought from my parents ready to build. The big box is just taking up space in my living room now 🙄

@purplefig I totally skipped the pregnancy glow part I think! I'm looking forward to having a bit of my old figure back I must admit! Aww that's ace. I love the kicks and movement! I can't imagine him not being in my belly now.

@LokiCat yep not long really till he will be here!

@LikeTheFruit unfortunately not! I go through gaviscon like it's going out of fashion and that's about it. I get it on an empty stomach/drinking water/ eating and not eating so I've just been unfortunate with it as it has no trigger. He's head down and engaged but his feet are still in my ribs, midwife has measured him again today and felt my
Bump again and said it is alllll baby and he is taking up all the space which is probably another factor in it. It's amazing how much you just accept feeling crap when pregnant 😂

@MrsEG the scan photos are beautiful! Amazing that they're head down x

MrsEG · 09/10/2019 13:04

@ELW85 ah it was amazing! They were so different already! Twin 2 is such a mover haha! Twin 1 was just trying to have a rest and 2 kept kicking him 🙈 It was amazing as well as she tried to get a reading on Twin 2’s umbilical cord, every time she got a good shot of it he batted it away with his hand! He’s going to be our troublemaker I think haha! I need to catch up on Capture tonight after yoga!

@LikeTheFruit How amazing you’ve seen so many twin births! I bet it’s fascinating! Yeah, I have to have quite small meals these days but I have more of them, so I maybe have a yoghurt for breakfast, some fruit at 10:30, small lunch at 1, rice cakes and PB at 3:30... I never stop eating - my boss says all she ever hears is rustling from my desk and it’s me taking out my next snack!! Enjoy the kitchen - we had ours done in Feb and I love it!

@thumper59 Poor you with baby taking up all that room!! It’ll be such a sigh of relief when he’s here and you can breath again haha!

Had a good chat with the consultant about movements which I thought I’d pass on! She said even with twins, they don’t worry about a lack of movement being felt before 24 weeks. Something as minor as baby facing the wrong way can mean you won’t feel or notice any movements for weeks. She also said that from 28 weeks is the time they start monitoring it, and even then it’s less counting kicks, more getting used to your babies patterns of movement each day and that it stays pretty regular. When I said I’d been feeling light pops/tickles for about 2 weeks she called me lucky and said most women come for their 20 week scan having not yet felt a thing!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 09/10/2019 13:57

@LikeTheFruit - thank you for that, I had no idea that you get measured as well as the heartbeat at the 16 week MW appointment, so that will be something else to look forward to 😊

@MrsEG - I’m so happy for you! It’s wonderful that they’ve got their own little traits and personalities already 💕 and thank you so much for giving the update on movements.
I’ll be catching up on GBBO tonight, so we’ve swapped!

I actually think I can see a bump today, so maybe I’ve popped! I’ve taken a photo but the bedroom is a mess, haha!

MrsEG · 09/10/2019 15:20

@ELW85 Ahh show us! No one cares about a messy bedroom! DH took this one of mine this morning as we were leaving, he wanted a ‘nice’ one to post online to tell everyone we are having boys - apparently the ones I take next to the grotty IKEA mirror I hardly ever clean weren’t good enough for him haha! It’s so exciting when bump pops out :)

purplefig · 09/10/2019 15:34

@LokiCat ahh that's such a shame, hopefully it won't be long until your nausea subsides and you can eat normally again. I think that - and the low mood! - was what I struggled with most during the first trimester, never been so grateful to love vegetables again! Enjoy catching up on The Capture Grin

@PippaPug dear lord that sounds positively heavenly. And for under £40!?!? Yes please!!!! Oh penguin themed - how adorable! Ours is kind of ending up a mixture of animal themed I think. The snowsuit we picked up secondhand, but it's the Marks and Spencer penguin one. Ridiculously adorable.

@Lemonysherbet Not long until your reassurance scan now!

@ELW85 I'm 100% going to try and pick up a chest freezer in the black Friday sale and then yes, batch cook like a woman possessed until the baby arrives Grin. Is it your 16 week midwife appointment this week? I was shocked at how much quicker it was than the booking in one, but all helps to make it feel more real. FWIW I didn't like the end of the The Capture...I thought it felt very flat.

@BabySquid We've just got a standard single fridge freezer thing and it's not big enough for what I've got in mind bahahaa!! So we're going to look for a discounted chest freezer, hopefully the black Friday or boxing day sales will have something.

@MrsH497 sorry you're feeling so rough, sounds rotten. Bed sounds like the best option!

@MrsEG GORGEOUS scan pictures and that is AMAZING NEWS that they've both shifted to head down positions, what good little yogis you've got in there Grin. So do you think you'll opt for a natural birth if they stay in the right position and you get the go ahead with everything else? Glad it's not just me that wants a second freezer...hadn't even thought of expressed milk storage, genius! Thanks for passing on the movement info too, that's really interesting. I keep hearing about kick counting (apparently there is an app?!) and that sounds so incredibly stress inducing. I much prefer the idea of monitoring for a general pattern, seems more sane.

@LikeTheFruit oh what a fab way to make room for bedroom number two - I hope the fitting goes well. Let us know what you think of The Capture when you catch up.

Can't believe it's Wednesday - this week is whizzing by! I rang up my GP the other day to book a flu jab and next appointment wasn't until mid next month! So I went along to Boots (lots of pharmacies do them), just thought I'd mention here in case any one else is in the same situation. It's free, as long as you mention you're pregnant (I brought my maternity exemption certificate along, though they didn't ask for it).

Couldn't resist a wander in the charity shops afterwards and between three of them I picked up three sleep suits, a onesie, a pair of legging and a cardigan for a fiver!

purplefig · 09/10/2019 15:35

@MrsEG cross post! Fab photo - look at that glorious bump!!
