@Lemonysherbet pregnancy hormones are real! Just try and ride it out and you'll hopefully be feeling more settled soon. Sorry to hear about the white spirit incident, but if it was just the remnants on the rim it would've been a minute amount. You could always give your midwife a call if you still feel anxious about it?

@LokiCat Oh you poor thing - is there anything worse than being hungry and not being able to eat because you'll throw it up?! Glad the Chinese soup worked in the end. The U shaped pillow is what I'll be going for too - they look so comfy. Yeah it's really nice being able to feel movement, but I have to keep reminding myself it's still too early for it to be reliable, so some days are quieter than others.

@thumper59 what fab news to think he's engaged and unlikely to move! How long do they let you go overdue in your area? I think it's up to 42 weeks in mine, so you've got a max of 6 weeks until you meet your little man!!

Happy The Capture day one and all! Is it the finale tonight?! I'm finally excited about the turn of the season now my stupid cold has started to shift...I can't remember who was talking about Christmas earlier, but I am SO EXCITED already. Need to cool it...Halloween first Grin.

Does anyone have any top tips for removing a musky smell from clothes? I've got some super old baby clothes, but they've got that smell. I'm thinking a soak in a vinegar solution, a hot wash and some sunlight might do the trick?

LikeTheFruit · 08/10/2019 09:38

Morning all!

Can't believe I'm 18+4 already, time is flying since my first trimester scan. Finally got some energy back and feeling really good in general! Though have been getting a bit of reflux, but was at a wedding on Friday, then out for dinner on Sat so hoping it's just due to larger meals. We get our new kitchen deliver this week so project 1 bed to 2 bedroom flat is on schedule!!

@LokiCat I found my nausea peaches between 9 and 12 weeks then calmed right down just before my scan at 13 weeks. Although I'm still coming occasionally, Friday and this morning after nine for over a week. It's much bette though so hang on in there! I haven't taken DH to any midwife appointments, didn't really see the point (so boring for him!) He'll be there for all scans and if I have a hospital appointment I'd want him there. There are new guidelines out saying not to listen for heartbeat at 16 weeks so prepare yourself that they might not listen for it. Evidence has shown that listening that early increases anxiety and leads to extra unnecessary scans and as long as uterus is growing at expected rate they're happy. My midwife did listen to mine, however, I think partly as I'm quite slim and it looked "easy" to find 😂😂

Sorry for that essay!!!

@Fivebyfive2 one of my best pals had her baby last Wednesday and had a very lovely but very busy cat who had taken a liking to the cot. So she lined it with kitchen foil and next time he jumped in he was right back out again and hasn't been in it again since 😂😂

@Lemonysherbet I've a a few low days but certainly feeling much better and more positive since entering second trimester.

@PippaPug loving all your knowledge! If I remember right our due dates are very close but you're very likely to deliver first.

@purplefig happy Capture day!! Although I'm on call today so may not be home in time to see it or may get called back into work half way through! So exciting that you're getting so much movement - I think maybe I'm just starting to notice something - not fluttering though more like tapping and kinda like a weird sex feeling 🥴.

thumper59 · 08/10/2019 10:03

@purplefig it won't be long before the movements get super strong! I sit in some right positions now for always having feet in my ribs. I read everywhere when baby moves down you should get relief from acid and breathlessness but I've still got both! I feel strong movements in my pelvis and still under my ribs so I reckon he's pretty long! I am only 5'4 though so don't have a lot of body for him to fill 😂. Yeah it's 42 weeks here too, however I know recently they've been offering sweeps on due dates if babies still aren't here by then so we'll have to just see what happens, I can't wait to see what he looks like!

PippaPug · 08/10/2019 10:10

@purplefig - haha sorry for the confusion! I love babies in the carry cots of prams but ours are narrower to get too in - so they will just be wedged in if they have too many layers on 😂 great thing about our pram is if they our grow the car cot, it turns into another seat which means they can still face me for longer 😍 they just have to be 4 months to sit in it.
Pram suit and snow suit is the same - they may call it a pram suit for babies and snow suit for older children but a massive normally fleecy all in one thingy 😂 I’m glad you have got your ones sorted....I’m toying with getting one (well two) as I have seen the most adorable ones!

@Lemonysherbet
Being grumpy is a sign of pregnancy I’m sure, I had pregnancy rage and some many people annoyed me 🙈 I’m semi over it now but I definitely more impatient than I did before 🙈 how are you feeling now after the milk, hoping your not I’ll xx

@LokiCat - how are you today? Hoping you feel better now? What baby show are you going too? I was supposed to be going to one in a few weeks with a friend but I think she has double booked herself sadly!
I’m waiting for Black Friday for a few things I have my eye on - hoping they will be in the sale on amazon!
A grow bag is a brand of sleeping bag - which is done by “The grow company” (you can normally find their grow bags in TK Max. But they are exactly the same thing - I just think of sleeping bags for adults and when they first came out they were only done by the grow company - now everyone had them.

The grow company is good (promise I don’t work for them!) as they have a little chart which you can put room temp/age and the weight of baby and it will give you what your baby should wear to bed if your unsure. They are very passionate about their work and also work with the lullaby trust as well (and don’t promote cot bumpers and other unsafe sleep items unlike a lot of shops) so as a Nanny I advise parents to go and buy from there as I feel they have done a lot more research then other places.
You can cheek the website out - but you obviously don’t need need to buy anything from them
Www.gro.co.uk

@thumper59 - Great news he is unable to turn round, how are you feeling now, not long!

@LikeTheFruit - I’m 18+3, so due one day after you (I’m the 7th of March) but I’m probably going to give birth by the 22nd of Feb - if I can get that far, fingers crossed for me! How are you feeling? I’m still not feeling “pregnant” as such - although unsure what that feeling is?!

How is everyone today? I have a pregnancy massage today which I’m really excited about, it was half price which makes it even better! I’m hoping it will help my bad back which has appeared from last week, I’m still hobbling around and I’m not sure what else I can do to help it now? I got a back support from amazon which had good ratings but it just constantly rises up my back and it’s really annoying! Hope everyone is having a sunny painfree Tuesday 😊😊

thumper59 · 08/10/2019 10:19

@PippaPug I love the gro company things- we've got him a bag and a little gro egg.

I am feeling knackered if I'm honest 😂 but just this week and next week left at work, and next week I am training a new girl who will be covering for me so hoping towards the back end of next week I'll be able to hand the reins over more and take it a bit easy. I'm not sleeping well with what I think is pregnancy insomnia, this bloody spd and constant acid it's really becoming a struggle I must admit. I think once I finish work I'll start to feel a little better as I can take the days more slowly and at a more relaxed pace. Pregnancy massage sounds lush!! Enjoy it xx

MrsEG · 08/10/2019 10:21

@Lemonysherbet Oh no!! Don’t worry I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine. I’ve had a couple of panics over things (smelling too many paint fumes while decorating, etc) and then remember painters and decorators have babies all the time haha!

@LokiCat Sorry to hear you’ve been so poorly! Hope it eases off soon. From 14 weeks my nausea disappeared completely. I know, I sent them to my sister and she is going to get a Big Bird one for her daughter so they can all wear them together!! The pain was a bit better last night - I was advised to up my dose of vitamin D and it definitely helped. Also went for a long walk and had a bath before bed so I was ultra tired!

@Tropicana1 That’s exactly what were all here for! How are you feeling at the mo? Enjoy the book list - I got a new twin book yesterday and the last section is on ‘the first year’ hurray!

@thumper59 Great to hear baby is locked and loaded and ready haha! When are you starting your mat leave? I bet it’s getting uncomfortable now he’s engaged! My sister got a sweep on her due date and it worked, Baby was born the next day!

@purplefig Capture and GBBO! Best telly day of the week haha! Super hot wash and yep air drying outside always worked with vintage clothes I used to buy. The smell never really completely disappears but it does fade!!

@LikeTheFruit I get heartburn when I eat large meals now so am on the ‘little and often’ at the moment! It involves lots of snacks though which keeps me happy haha, as I’m still ravenous all day!
Also @LokiCat as @LikeTheFruit that’s true not every midwife listens to the heartbeat at the 16 week appt; in fact she mentioned she only tried mine as it was two, and so she was fascinated haha! I know a few women who didn’t get to listen at theirs. So don’t be too disappointed if it doesn’t happen!

@PippaPug Enjoy your massage! I have aches and pains every day now and I got a pregnancy support belt which is absolutely amazing. Really lifts bump up and eases the aches! Fab tips on the Grow Bags! I’ll look in to those - love a TK Maxx shop!!

How is everyone doing today? I finally feel quite rested for once! We have our 20 week scan tomorrow and then meet with the twin consultant too. I’ve been reading my twin book, so I have a gazillion questions for her tomorrow!!

OP posts:
PippaPug · 08/10/2019 10:48

@thumper59 - yes I like too and they wash well too!
I’m sorry your not feeling your normal self but your on the countdown now till mat leave! That is exciting, do you have any plans? Lots of my friends plan things for Mat leave and then have to cancel them as baby has other plans!

@MrsEG - do you know what pregnancy belt you have? Mine just really irritates me and I get all cross with it 😂
You excited for the scan and also the consultant? I don’t know when I have another twin consultant meeting, but is it bad I can never think of any questions 🙈 my main one is the chance of me having a natural birth and when would they decide that enough is enough for me to have a c section? I feel so unprepared compared to you!

MrsEG · 08/10/2019 11:08

@PippaPug I have this one and love it! www.amazon.co.uk/Maternity-Belt-NEOtech-Pregnancy-Support/dp/B009M2U0LQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?psc=1&keywords=pregnancy+belt&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFURDk2MUxXQTExREgmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA1MTYwNzUyV08yTFlXMlI1T0xRJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxNzY2MTYxQVg3Q0Y3OVYyN0MwJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1570529055&sr=8-1-spons

As far as I have been told, a natural birth with twins comes down to luck - it depends on the way the babies are lying. If in the later weeks, or when your waters break, the scan shows the position of twin 1 is breech or transverse it’s far too dangerous to attempt a natural birth. Its not like with one, you can’t attempt to turn them. You want them head down if possible! It’s why I keep going to yoga and bouncing around on my birthing ball - at the moment mine are stuck in the transverse position!! Birthing plans is on my list of Q’s though - when do decisions have to be made, where will I have them, who will be in the room etc etc. I have made my peace with the chance of a C-section now too so I feel prepared for both outcomes :) I’m very much in the mindset of whatever it takes to deliver them safely.
I bought a book called Expecting Twins written by UK doctors which I really recommend and helped me come up with my questions!!

OP posts:
MrsEG · 08/10/2019 11:38

@PippaPug Here’s a good link about delivering twins which echos what my book says, and consultant has told me: www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/giving-birth-to-twins/

So even though there’s a 60% chance of C section that still leaves 40% chance of natural delivery! Just will those babies heads down haha!

@MrsEG next Friday is my last working day 🥳🥳 oh did she that's good to hear! My bags are packed whenever he wants to make an appearance 😂. He'll be a lazy bum if he's anything like his dad! I can't believe it's your 20 week scan tomorrow. How exciting!!

@PippaPug I don't really, I'm starting to feel like I need to blitz the house and sort every cupboard and drawer so I think that's the nesting starting!! I'll do that when I'm off work. It's OHs bday next Saturday so I've booked us all out for a meal, then I'm hoping to get my feet up and await his arrival! Then after he's here I'm planning to just take it one day as a time, hopefully get out for a few walks with the pram before we get hit with the snow and rain!

MrsH497 · 08/10/2019 12:00

@LokiCat so sorry you've been feeling so rough!

How is everyone sorry I've been quiet this cold has taken it out of me topped of by losing my voice today and I'm in the control room so not ideal really 🤣😂

I can't wait to get my scan date through I keep checking the post all excitedly!

PippaPug · 08/10/2019 12:04

@MrsEG - I have that one but in black and I can’t get on with it at all?!! Maybe I’m doing something wrong 😬

I am ok with having a C section if it’s what the babies need, but it’s something I don’t particularly want, but of course would have it if I needed too. It’s hard for me when I’m such a planner knowing that the fate of what birth I have (unless EC section) is what position these two are in and they don’t even realise it!

I already know about when I will find out about what birth I will have (unless it’s a emergency c section) in Jan - I’m trying to remember that what will be will he and the doctors and consultants ultimately will have the babies and my best interest first and foremost 😊

The book sounds good - I need to start reading but more about pregnancy/labour/birth as that’s what im clueless about but when I have gone online or into a book shop im overwhelmed!

Just waiting for my massage now 😊

MrsEG · 08/10/2019 12:16

@thumper59 Next Friday!! How exciting! Ahh I can’t wait for your little man to be here now!!

@PippaPug I love it! I have to wear all three ‘bits’ for it to feel snug but it’s great so far!
I really recommend the book as it’s made me feel much more ‘serene’ about the fact Twin births can be so up in the air, as you say! It really is a ‘what will be will be’ and yep, the consultants will have babies and mums absolute best interests at heart. The books called ‘Expecting Twins? (One Born Every Minute)’ I got mine online second hand for a couple of quid. I also really recommend looking in to a local TAMBA workshop as I got the chance to ask twin mums loads of questions there which was absolutely invaluable! One said she had been absolutely dead set on natural birth as she was sailing through the pregnancy, but then had to have ECS at 33 weeks and wished she’d prepared herself more for it! I’m the same as you - I definitely have my preferences but I’m preparing myself as best I can for every outcome :) I’ll let you know if I get any more info from the consultant tomorrow!
Enjoy the massage!!

Morning all

Sorry I’ve been rubbish with responding! I thought work would calm down but that turned out to be naive 😂
Thanks for all of your responses on the midwife appointments; I think DH is going to stick to scans and leave the other appointments to me, which makes sense!

@purplefig - I’m good thank you! How are you doing?
@LokiCat - how are you doing? My next scan is 6th November so not too long to wait!

I think I’m having a bit of a wobble ladies; I’ve got a bit of a bump, have lost my ‘symptoms’ broadly and can’t really feel movement so I’m slightly worried that everything is growing and doing ok in general.
Anyone else felt like this in the second
I’m 16+3 today.

Anny27 · 08/10/2019 12:28

Afternoon everyone :)

@MrsH497 i have my booking appointment in a few weeks. Do they give you your 12 week scan date after that?

@LokiCat i can sympathise now with your anxiety with lack of symptoms untill past 7 weeks. I am 6+2 and all i have is sore boobs. I will totally regret saying this i am sure but if i had some nausea i would feel more pregnant 🙈🙈

@MrsEG ahh i dont have personal experience obivously but i think its very nornal to feel completley fine in the first part of 2nds trimester before any movements start. Hoping your anxiety gets better xx

Anny27 · 08/10/2019 12:33

Sorry was supposed to tag @ELW85 instead of @MrsEG in my previous post!

MrsEG · 08/10/2019 12:41

@ELW85 Please don't wobble! It would be extremely early to feel moments yet. I've got two squished in there and only noticed it I think just after 18 weeks? My sister was closer to 21! And it's totally normal to feel wonderful in the second tri!! I do too (other than the aches!) - enjoy it! No nausea, food aversions, etc. They say the second trimester is the honeymoon phase :) All absolutely, totally normal!!

OP posts:
MrsH497 · 08/10/2019 12:45

@Anny27 where I live once they've done the booking in appointment and sent your bloods and urine sample off (I've got to go back on Thursday for blood) then you'll get a letter from the hospital with your scan date doesn't come from the midwife

ELW85 · 08/10/2019 12:53

Thanks @Anny27 and @MrsEG!
Deep down, I know you’re right, I think it’s just a funny limbo stage.
Midwife appointment on Friday though so hopefully get to hear the heartbeat which will be wonderful 😊

thumper59 · 08/10/2019 13:36

@MrsEG it's just crazy! I'm so ready to meet him, but I can't believe our lives could change forever literally any day!

@ELW85 please don't worry! It's completely normal- I was the same about that time in my pregnancy. My first trimester symptoms had gone but I'd not started feeling any movements. I just felt normal and it really concerned me right up until my 20 week scan. I think my movements started around 18-19 weeks and they was very light and only if I really focused when relaxing. Everything will be fine 💞 before long baby will have limbs sticking out all over the place and making a good nights sleep a thing of the past- it goes so quickly xx

ELW85 · 08/10/2019 13:50

Thank you @thumper59 - it’s so nice to hear others have gone through this phase!
How exciting that your last day is Friday 😀 I bet you’re just so excited to meet the little one now! Are you feeling good in yourself?

thumper59 · 08/10/2019 14:01

@ELW85 I remember the stage well I remember being a bit nervous up until our 20 week scan, then after that it's all been absolutely fine and movements got stronger which I think relieves a lot of worry. We are so excited to meet him! I feel great in myself Thankyou, just my body is lagging behind my brain now 😂 x

Fivebyfive2 · 08/10/2019 14:26

@ELW85, try not to worry, it is a funny time at 16 weeks because symptoms often ease off but movements aren't obvious for a good few weeks. Like you say, you just feel 'normal' and it can be weird, but try to enjoy it 🙂

@thumper59, not long for you now! So excited for you!! Xx

@MrsEG and @PippaPug, I love how organised you guys are!! And I'm totally spying on all the info you put on here 😀

@likethefruit, that's so weird about the tin foil, will definitely try that out!! Thanks for tip 🙂

We saw Joker yesterday in the newly renovated cinema. Seats are fab, sooo comfy! I actually thought the film was a bit boring though, struggling to see what all the fuss is about to be honest! Maybe I'm just desensitised?!

We assembled the snuzpod today 😀

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 7!
PippaPug · 08/10/2019 15:19

@MrsEG - Thanks for the name of the book, I didn’t read your message properly at first but I’m going to order that one I think, worth having a read over!

We are looking at a Tamba course - but it’s trying to fit it in round everything else we are doing, feel like we are running out of time!

I’m not dead set for a natural birth - but I wanted a home birth to start with and so already so much is out of my hands frustratingly! As long as these two pickles arrive safely that’s all that matters to me I feel.

@ELW85 - Totally normal on the wobbly scale! I have wobbles now and I’m 18+3 I don’t “feel pregnant” the nausea has pretty much good, I have more Energy then two weeks ago but that’s it, all my clothes although aren’t hanging right - still tech fit and so I have days where I don’t feel pregnant and I keep toying with another scan again 🙈 it’s terrible! I’m sure it will get better, but they do say second tri is the best one as your not to heavy, not to many aches and pains and no sickness! I don’t really feel movements yet and so I understand that worry, but please try not to worry (easier said then done I know)

@Fivebyfive2 - that snuzpod looks so cozy, Lucky baby!

MrsEG · 08/10/2019 16:47

@ELW85 Hope the midwife appt this week puts your mind at rest a little! I know what you mean about being in limbo - feels like a long old waiting game at times! It’ll quickly fly though; before you know it you’ll be at your 20 week scan, I can’t believe mine is tomorrow. I don’t know where the weeks are going!

@Fivebyfive2 I really enjoyed Joker! Problematic in places but I found it super interesting - a real character piece on a decent in to madness! I think the very large helping of Baskin Robbins I had also sweetened the deal! The Snuzpod looks fabulous!

@PippaPug Yeah I know what you mean; so much to do in so little time! I always wanted a water birth, just always assumed that’s what would happen for me - then twins came along haha! Hope you enjoyed your massage!
