@ELW85, it was sold out! We're gonna go one afternoon in the week when it will be quiet.

So today we are building the wardrobe for the nursery 🙂 Depending on our success, we may attempt the cot and snuzpod in the week so that they're all done... Ambitious!!

MrsEG · 06/10/2019 08:43

@cupcakesandglitter I know, 20 weeks today! I’m a good bit over half way now, I won’t go over 37 weeks so maximum of 17 weeks now and they’ll be here!! How are you feeling?

@LokiCat I am definitely going to try and get some kind of referral for osteo or physio properly from the midwife, in agony again this morning! Hadn’t thought of a massage though I may look in to that! Glad to hear you had such a fab sleep!

@Fivebyfive2 Good luck with the furniture building! How’s Joker? We’re seeing it later!

@ELW86 John Lewis was fab I’d highly recommend the car fit service! Think we’re gonna go for the Cybex Z cloud seats as they have a handle so can be easily transported out of the car but also spin. Anything to make it easier to get two in and out of the car!! DH is going back to get them later this week!

Mixed bag today - in agony this morning again. It’s really localised to my hips, pelvis and upper thighs. I just cannot get comfy in bed at all so feeling a bit sorry for myself. I did yoga yesterday though and me and DH are off for a swim at 10 to see if that helps. Off for a Wagamama (I basically live there) after and then cinema! Taking a cushion with me - we went to the cinema last week and it was so sore on my butt haha! Happy Sunday everyone x

Oh and for anyone keeping track, my poor poor friend still hasn’t had her baby :( Waters we’re finally broken yesterday lunch time so still waiting for news! Xx

BabySquid · 06/10/2019 09:20

@Fivebyfive2 I have a similar situ with my friend who lives in Camb, I live in Bradford and DH doesn't stop me when I need to see her. If it were the other way round I wouldn't stop DH going one month before due date. Like you say, it'll probs be a while before he does it again once homer's here.

@MrsEG sorry to hear about your hip pain, I was in agony yesterday from too much tidying. It's ok this morning tho but I wouldn't like to feel that constantly. (DH was taking the piss as I could barely walk!)

We finally got the spare room almost ready yesterday, god it took a lot! DH had to board more of the loft, so now we've got the two sets of drawers up there that we're in the spare room with my summer/winter clothes in so I can swap over easily without them being in bags! All the junk we someone accumulated in 5 years is gone, either charity or tip! And the bed is ready to go to my brothers when we get back from holiday in November! Feeling much more organised now. Which is good as I'm 22 weeks tomorrow!! 😱🤯
Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday
Oh... do we have anyone watching the Rugby World Cup??

BabySquid · 06/10/2019 09:21

*somehow! Not someone!

cupcakesandglitter · 06/10/2019 10:39

Ooh @mrsof20118 do you mind me asking how you've handled cats and baby? I've got two that have loved having my attention since I've been pregnant and I'm worrying about how to deal with it when the baby is here 😥

@MrsH497 sorry I don't have any advice really, I'm not sure what we're allowed to take. If you're sneezing a lot I'd try some Vaseline under/around your nose, apparently it stops dust etc from getting in. I'm sure one of the ladies will be able to give you some better advice if they haven't already!!

Ooh @ELW85 what did you go for? Anything autumnal? 😊

Oh god yes, I didn't think so sorry! @MrsEG that's fab though, I can't believe how fast it's going! I'm okay thankyou, I'm still throwing up but maybe once/twice a day so it's definitely calmed down. Now I've got joints that get sore super quickly, boobs are filling up I think so they're just really heavy, the gas has 100% kicked in 😂 but the worst bit for me is my nose! Every evening I suddenly start shivering and then cannot stop sneezing for a couple of hours! Had to smear my face with Vaseline last night 😭😭 I'm also having to wear pads again (thought I'd got away with not using them for ages) because I pee myself very quickly 😂 sorry you're not able to get comfortable ☹️ could you try a new maternity pillow?

Ahh @BabySquid that's brilliant! Well done you for getting it done too!! i have to do exactly the same and I'm dreading it

ELW85 · 06/10/2019 11:07

@MrsEG - that’s great! We went for the Ocarro bundle we’d seen which had a Maxi Cosi seat and isofix adaptor with it, so we’ve dodged the car seat choice 😂

@cupcakesandglitter - I decided to go all out and get a Christmas one! There’s not enough time in between so I thought I’d get in the festive mood early; ADORE Christmas!

cupcakesandglitter · 06/10/2019 11:14

@ELW85 YES!!! That's how you do it 😂 I cannot bloody wait for Christmas 🎄🤗

ELW85 · 06/10/2019 13:36

@cupcakesandglitter - I’m so pleased you’re on board!! I can’t help it - about to browse trees for us this year (we had a real one last year but have both changed cars so it’s not feasible this year) xx

purplefig · 06/10/2019 17:11

@MrsEG sorry to read about your worsening pain - did swimming help at all? Oh my goodness your poor friend too, it's been so dragged out for her. Fingers crossed today's the day.

@BabySquid hey DD twin - that's good going!! Have you got cot etc. sorted? Can't believe we're 22 weeks tomorrow!! I've had a major aghhhrrrr we need to get our shit together moment 🤣

@Fivebyfive2 recliner seats?! Amazing!!! How was it?

@LokiCat ahh what a cutie!! Is it a C shape or U? I need to order one soon.

@ELW85 oh my goodness I can't believe you're 16 weeks already that's gone sooooo fast!!

Sorry if I've missed any other updates - lots to catch-up on!! I'm finally feeling a bit better, why are colds so bloody annoying?!?

We spur of the moment picked up a gorgeous wooden chest of drawers from FB today (for £50 🙀🙌🏻) and it's amazing how much more homely our spare room - soon to be nursery! - feels now. Also sorted through all our baby clothes to see where we're at - how many onesies/baby grows etc. are you guys aiming for for each age group? And up to what age bracket are you buying for?

purplefig · 06/10/2019 17:27

Also - does anyone know from how many weeks you're supposed to have regular movement / pay attention to any reduced movement?

BabySquid · 06/10/2019 17:46

@purplefig we've got the bedside rocking crib but we've only got that coz it was a steal at the mamas and papas outlet. Once we have no one left to stay over after our holiday we'll be in full buying mode, decorate the nursery, order the carpet and furniture and then start buying things. We're not massive on xmas in our family (I personally prefer Halloween but not in the country) so we don't have loads to buy for people so can start buying for the baby. Do you have anything bought?
We're planning on buying clothes up to 3 months then can get more gender specific when they're here. (Plus my parents and ILs will prob go mental once they know baby's here!)
And they say from 24 weeks your to count kicks. I have a little routine going on already! Have you felt much??

purplefig · 06/10/2019 17:54

@BabySquid oh lovely! My nan's friend is giving us a Moses basket so we're going with that for now. Haven't got much else - just some of our friends 2nd newborn clothes and a few bits we picked up at a nearly new (bjorn carrier, hooded towels etc.). Think finally getting a chest of drawers has kicked us into sorting mode!! Good you've haven't got to blow much of your budget on Christmas, that'll help! I was thinking of buying up to 6 months, but harder when you don't know the sex though there are lots of lovely neutral bits around. Thanks for mentioning 24 weeks - I hadn't a clue!! I had been getting movement everyday but he/she has been very quiet today. Cute yours is in a routine already ❤️

MrsEG · 06/10/2019 18:30

@purplefig You don’t monitor for regular movements until the third trimester, so from 28 weeks - I have this link saved: www.mumsnet.com/pregnancy/monitoring-baby-movements
You will feel the first movements between 16-24 weeks and then they get in to a pattern from 28. Mine have been very, very quiet today - so I like to check on that link for reassurance!
Swimming was okay but also slightly painful. I have the midwife on weds so I won’t do anything else now until I’ve spoken to her! Ooh chest of drawers sounds lovely!
Clothes wise we’ve been gifted so, so much so we’re fine for newborn to about 12 months. If anything we honestly have too much; I’m going to sort through it all soon and then donate some as it won’t all fit in the nursery! Only things I’m missing really are a few sleep suits I think, and a good few hats. That’s about it!! Still hasn’t stopped me buying though... some things are just too cute; plus I was my own ‘style’ of things too!

@ELW85 Oh I love Christmas too! So looking forward to it this year and hoping I’m not too big to enjoy it!! It’s DH birthday on Christmas Day as well so always a really big celebration. Trying to find him some birthday presents from the twins at the mo!

@BabySquid Big rugby house here! DH is Irish (so currently not that happy haha!) so it’s a huge fixture in our household. I have to admit it still confuses the hell out of me; I have no idea why a ref has made a certain decision at times! I’ve been kinda enjoying watching it in the mornings though!

@cupcakesandglitter Sorry to hear about your cold!! Hot water with honey and lemon always makes me feel a bit better and just loads of rest. My boobs have only noticeably grown a lot in the last few weeks - living in sports bras and crop tops now!!

OP posts:
purplefig · 06/10/2019 19:54

@MrsEG thanks for that link - it's very reassuring! She/he is having a quiet day today after a week of quite a bit of movement, but good to know it's too early to be monitoring. Sorry to hear swimming was still painful, hopefully the midwife can give you some advice. When are you off work from? Wow that sounds like a lot of clothes! Nice to be all sorted. I did originally want to get enough to last up to 9 months to cover mat leave, but not keen now we don't know the sex 🤣

MrsEG · 06/10/2019 20:20

@purplefig Yeah, I definitely haven’t noticed a pattern at all yet and some days I barely feel a thing. They’re still so small that all it takes is for them to roll over to a different position and you won’t feel anything! I’m WFH all week this week just to see how I get on. I see the twin consultant this week too so hopefully they can help with the pains as I’m sure it’s something they see/hear a lot of! It’s so true - so hard to buy neutral. I am avoiding very gendered stuff but it’s still really obvious what’s in the boy and girl camps! I’m getting some adorable Halloween themed stuff though; all monsters, mummy’s and skeletons. It’ll be Halloween in summer in our house haha!

Oh - my friend had her baby!! She said even though it couldn’t have been further from her birth plan, it was absolute magic. She wouldn’t change how he entered the world for a thing! Scary thing now is - I’m next!!

OP posts:
purplefig · 06/10/2019 20:25

@MrsEG I don't even know her and I'm so bloody relieved and happy for her!!! Glad he/she was worth the long wait!! Amazing to think you're next ❤️ and not once but twice 🤣! Fab you can WFH all week and it'll be great to chat with the twin consultant. Are you stocking up on Halloween stuff for next year?! SO ORGANISED!!! Yeah all our current stuff is old boys clothes, which tbf if probably more neutral than girls clothes.

MrsEG · 06/10/2019 20:40

@purplefig I know, I’m so happy for her and that the whole ordeal is now done with! Ha, yes! I think I’ll be on mat leave until mid November so will be so broke next Halloween, and it’s a big deal in our families! Which reminds me, I still need a costume for the family party this month - so hard when you have a huge belly to consider!!
Yeah we’ve been given a lot of whites and greys which are fab. I have a more ‘kitsch’ style though, shall we say - I’ll have to post some pics of my fave buys when we start sorting it all out this week! Are you still set on keeping the sex secret til the big day?

OP posts:
purplefig · 07/10/2019 07:03

@MrsEG ahh that makes sense - what costumes have you gone for for them?? I might wait until post Halloween for a creepy cute bargain 🤣. Any thoughts on what you're going as this year? I've seen some hilarious pregnant pumpkins!! I'm very intrigued by your kitsch style...ooo please do share when you've had a sort. I seem to be drawn to anything with animal prints on it, which is handy as that's pretty gender neutral. Speaking of which, yes we're still both total surprise converts (much to both of our surprise).

I'm 22 weeks today 🙀 and my cold has finally shifted...love that post poorly feeling of health appreciation! Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start. I've got a normal one and then this weekend we're off on a little baby moon (with the dog)!

MrsEG · 07/10/2019 09:10

@purplefig The question is, what outfits didn’t I get them!! I ordered them online so will take some pics when they arrive! I’ve no idea - we considered Juno (it’s just fancy dress rather than being scary, as there’ll be quite a few kids there!) but it seems a lot of work. DH is on the case looking at costumes though! Ooh yes I love animal prints! Glad to hear you’re feeling better. Where is your baby moon?

I feel awful today :( Feel like a broken record! The hip and pelvic pain is 100 times worse in bed and I’ve been awake since 2. WFH luckily but honestly don’t know how well I’ll fare on so little sleep!

OP posts:
purplefig · 07/10/2019 09:21

@MrsEG oh my god that sounds awful - stupid question but can you at least take paracetamol? And would a hot water bottle / soak in the bath be remotely helpful? I'd definitely be scheduling in a nap too, for what it's worth Grin. Hahahaa love how organised you've been with their Halloween stuff...I'm getting some idea of how seriously it's taken in your family/friendship circle. Speaking of which, Juno is inspired! I'm supposed to be working...but I might be on eBay looking at all the gorgeous unisex bundles!!

PippaPug · 07/10/2019 10:09

Hello everyone,

Happy Monday!

@MrsEG - sorry to hear your in such pain, are you going to wait to speak to your twin consultant or would it be better to ring your midwife up today l? Sounds very very painful. How’s the shoe hunt going?

@Fivebyfive2 and @LokiCat the brownies and cheesecake look amazing! We have some serious bakers in here!

We ordered cotbeds at the weekend and also car seats, and we now know what buggy we want too 🎉

@purplefig - we are aiming for 30 odd vests as the twins will be born in Feb and they will wear it under their baby grows day and night - I’m working on the average of going through 3 each in a 24 hour period, no idea how long we could be on hospital and the fact no one buys vests for babies - they all buy outfits!

As for everything else - we are just going to see how much we have at around Christmas time, it’s hard to buy stuff past the current season annoyingly!

I haven’t really ever seen this anywhere apart from John Lewis but these are fantastic:
www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-baby-organic-cotton-bunny-bundler-white/p1713650?sku=234007067&s_kwcid=2dx92700046988651331&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-_7mneWJ5QIVmPhRCh3CuQN6EAQYASABEgLOX_D_BwE

In my eyes (unisex!) nightgowns - but I have found them so much easier when I have looked after newborns, as no poppers and so it’s a quick nappy change ☺️

I have had a bad back last few days and today it’s eased up....but managed to pull a muscle in my neck/shoulder and it’s throbbing!

Hope everyone’s having a good morning so far ☺️

ELW85 · 07/10/2019 10:30

Morning all!

@purplefig - it’s flying over! I’m so pleased you asked about the movements, and thanks @MrsEG for that link; I think it’ll help me focus when the time comes!

@MrsEG - wow, I bet Christmas is huge in your house with DH’s birthday too! How wonderful 😊

Quick question - do your DH/OHs go to all of your midwife appointments? I hadn’t really planned for DH to go to all of ours as I think time off work might be difficult, but I also don’t want him to miss out?

MrsEG · 07/10/2019 10:38

@purplefig I already take aspirin every day, but warm baths have been a godsend! When I first got in the pool at swimming yesterday I just stood there still for about 10 minutes, it was fabulous!! Enjoy eyeing up those clothing bundles!

@PippaPug Ooh what car seats and pram have you gone for? How exciting! I don’t really want to bother the midwife with it really, as I can WFH so it’s not affecting me too much (other than feeling like a complete zombie!). It really is just so painful at night!

@ELW85 DH comes to scans, and he came to the 16 week appt too but wasn’t supposed to - it was only because a client had cancelled on him! He’s coming to the 20-week scan tomorrow but we’ve already agreed he won’t come to all the subsequent MW and growth scans - it isn’t worth always trying to schedule them around two peoples diaries! Plus my Mum is absolutely chomping at the bit to come to one haha!
He said the 16-week MW appt was a bit boring, but worth it to hear the heartbeats :)

OP posts:
purplefig · 07/10/2019 10:54

@ELW85 morning! How're you doing today? DH came to the 12 and 20 week scan with me, but not midwife appointments as I don't think they're as exciting and tend to be pretty routine. He was super envious I got to hear the heartbeat at my 16 week midwife appointment though.

@PippaPug love the nightgowns! And deffo unisex imo. What a fab idea! By vests do you mean sleeveless babygros or vests that go under them?! I am clueless 🤣

@MrsEG glad you've found some relief in water, but still a right pain when you're a land based mammal!!
