Morning all 😊 11 weeks today! Also, last day at work this week as I'm WFH tomorrow thankfully! Grin
It's so cold this morning, my car was all iced over! Time to get the big jumpers out. Might treat myself to a hot choccy on the way to work.

@purplefig haha definitely, he's in my very good books right now.
Ooh thanks for the book recommendation! I've been looking for a read for after birth, especially till first year so I'll check that one out.

@Tropicana1 I felt exactly the same the other night and went on a google search to find something as I felt pretty clueless. I was reading good reviews about First Time Parent by Lucy Atkins. I know it's pretty old, so wasn't sure if it was still relevant - has anyone had a read of it?

@MrsH497 I'm glad your line manager is trying to help at least. Ahh it must have been lovely telling your grandparents! Happy that your evening was better

@ELW85 Thanks lovely! I bet those fries were needed after a long day. Not long till the weekend 😊
Hope you enjoyed a relaxing tv catch up last night!

@MrsEG thanks for posting that parenting book recs link, I'll have a look at that.
I hope your friend is okay. I hadn't realised that things could change so suddenly. Hope everything goes smoothly for her from here.

Have a good day all x

BostonFern · 03/10/2019 07:54

Sorry ladies, I meant to say he's back to stomach already-was so tired yesterday! Only really uncomfortable as he has decided to put his feet right under my ribs, the midwife sonographer even commented on how sore it must be making me!

@purplefig I hope your cold remedy works! I'd been looking at that book too, might go ahead and buy it then, thanks for the recommendation.

@LokiCat I hope you enjoyed your Pom bears, they were a staple part of my diet early on in pregnancy!

@MrsEG yes, I think it's the feeling of it having happened without really being able to tie things up at work, but baby is far more important, so that's that!

How lovely @MrsH497 Hope today is better too x

@ELW85 make sure you don't overdo it at work, it sounds very busy!

@MrsEG I hope labour progresses well for your friend!

@Tropicana1 I know what you mean, I'm worried baby will come out and I'll be like 'what do we do now!?' We've bought the positive birth company's post partum pack to watch once we've finished the hypnobirthing one (hopefully next week), so I'm hoping that'll shed some light and reassure (as well as the NCT classes we are going on later this month).

I'm having a slow start to the day, then I need to go pick up my glasses as they've been repaired. Hoping to catch up on GBBO tonight too.

Fivebyfive2 · 03/10/2019 07:59

@lokicat, I've got 'first time parent'!! Picked it up at Waterstones after flicking through about a dozen 😂 It's pretty good, very straightforward and practical. I also got 'skin to skin' which was recommended and has a different approach - some good bits but it does seem to imply you should spend the first few months in the house, partly clothed, with the baby attached to you?! There's also some intro bits about a cave woman giving birth, which some people really liked, but I personally found a bit weird...

It's the work bake off today! I made tuxedo brownies - chocolate brownies, topped with vanilla butter cream and chocolate ganache! Wish me luck!! Xx

Anny27 · 03/10/2019 08:14

Morning ladies :D this thread moves so fast i need to pay more attention 😂

@Tropicana1 ahh a little girl thats so lovely:) i am pretty convinced we are having a boy as everyone on my husband's side has had boys haha. I agree i think my dh would initially be a little bit dissapointed with a girl but obviously he would love having a girl when the baby ia here!

@LokiCat happy 11 weeks :D we have told our sisters and his mum and a few of my friends (they asked when i wasnt drinking haha). Few of my friends waited till 12 weeks to even tell their parents - i just couldnt haha!

Have a long day today so imagine i will be exhauated 😴😴

Fivebyfive2 · 03/10/2019 08:45

Tuxedo Brownies!! Xx

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 7!
MrsR16 · 03/10/2019 09:36

Morning ladies 😊 had another midwife appt this morning which is the first one where they start measuring bump! Baby is bang on where it's supposed to be which is fab!

@Fivebyfive2 those look absolutely delicious! (I'm telling myself I can't go and buy brownies at this time of the morning haha!)

MrsEG · 03/10/2019 09:49

@LokiCat She is fine; it’s really taking its time but she’s glad she’s being well looked after. Yeah, pre-eclampsia happens fairly suddenly and they take it really seriously! I really hope she has him today now though :)

@BostonFern Hope you’re not feeling too sore! Enjoy GBBO - get some snacks to have while watching!

@Fivebyfive2 those brownies look absolutely amazing!!

OP posts:
purplefig · 03/10/2019 10:49

@ELW85 glad you're dandy - if not a bit overworked! Here's to DH's who pick us up and feed us McD fries Grin. I'd definitely have a read through the book if you're interested in a big picture overview. She's a psychotherapist with a daughter too, so I think she's definitely worth listening too. Enjoy catching up on The Capture and GBBO!

@MrsEG ooo that's exciting! Though I'm sorry to hear about her high blood pressure and suspected pre-eclampsia, that must have been a shock for her. Fingers crossed she has him/her today. Haven't tried the buttermilk quorn nuggets...haven't even heard of them!!!! WILL be hunting them out though.

@Tropicana1 no, the book I'm reading doesn't get into the practical, nitty gritty aspects of parenting a newborn. It's more of a big picture overview of how to have a positive lifelong relationship with your child. For something more practical I know a lot of people really rate the Your baby week by week book. I got it out of the library and found utterly overwhelmed though!! I'm going to rely on NCT + frantic phone calls to my mum for the practical aspects of child-rearing I think Grin.

@MrsH497 ooo thanks for sharing your dumpling recipe - I'm the same as you and mine come out different every time. Hadn't thought I might be over mixing them....will try that tonight as we're having veggie stew and dumplings.

@LokiCat ooo a hot chocolate sounds lovely! I'm currently knocking back a concoction of lemon, honey, ginger, turmeric and black pepper tea in a bid to get rid of this cold (I love any excuse to play potion wizard). Yeah the book is a decent one for a broad overview - I think the earlier on in your parenting journey you read it, the more beneficial.

@BostonFern so he's head down and back to stomach...that's the ideal position isn't it?! That's fab!! I'm feeling better today thank-you...I'm quite enjoying playing a herbalist in the kitchen!

@Fivebyfive2 oh my goodness...I'm drooling...can you post me one?!

How's everyone doing today? I'm determined to not let this cold get any worse and after a very chilled out afternoon/evening yesterday, lots of fluids and a good night of sleep, I'm feeling much better. I also kind of swear by swallowing a clove of raw garlic...supposed to be out seeing friends tonight though, I'm not sure they'll appreciate it Grin.

BostonFern · 03/10/2019 10:58

@Fivebyfive2 they look amazing!

@MrsR16 brilliant that bump is where it should be with measurements.

@MrsEG thanks, think he's tucked his feet away somewhere else this morning, as it's not quite so sore!

@purplefig that is the ideal position, so he can stay there if he likes 🙂 it does seem he likes to wiggle his bum side to side though as I can feel his spine move from right the left!
Pleased to hear you are feeling better today too.

Fivebyfive2 · 03/10/2019 13:58

Thanks ladies, I came 2nd,my sil came first so we did well 😀 Our accountant is coming in soon to go over end of month stuff, I'll be in a cake coma!! Xx

MrsH497 · 03/10/2019 15:27

Hi ladies just back from my booking in appointment! Midwife was so lovely currently low risk midwife led. Couldn't get blood from me (my veins are awful) so back next week to attempt blood again!

Got my notes and just so happy she understood my anxiety because of the MC previously - a good day!

MrsEG · 03/10/2019 15:54

@purplefig The buttermilk nuggets are amazing. I have them as a ‘snack’ for more often than I should!! Yeah, it’s odd with PE one day she was fine and the next everything was swelling up and her BP was through the roof. It’s great the hospital are taking such good care though! She was officially induced this morning in the end as nothing happened over night so I’m still waiting with baited breath for updates :) Glad you’re feeling better!! I don’t think I could stomach a garlic clove though...

@BostonFern Sounds like he’s in a great position for take off haha! How are you feeling at the mo?

@Fivebyfive2 second place! Excellent work - well done!

@MrsH497 Great news! I’d love to be low risk haha, enjoy it :) I think it’s fantastic anxiety is taken so seriously by midwives, they are great with me too as I absolutely dread my scans. They never keep me waiting long!

I am in a food coma at my desk - we all went to Wagamama for a colleagues leaving lunch today then came back to a sweets buffet and I inhaled a LOT of caramel buttons. I will be rolling home!

OP posts:
BostonFern · 03/10/2019 16:28

Well done @Fivebyfive2!

@MrsH497 glad your booking in appointment went well, and the midwife took your anxiety seriously-if it's any reassurance my midwives have been amazing with my anxiety, all the way through my pregnancy.

@MrsEG that sounds like an amazing afternoon of food! I'm trying to keep an eye on my sugar intake as baby is big, which of course is making me want everything sweet! Otherwise I'm still as slow as a snail, got overtaken by so many people when I went to get my glasses this morning. Anxiety is still there, but I think I'm coping a bit better with it over the last couple of days.

purplefig · 03/10/2019 17:23

@Fivebyfive2 congrats - 2nd place is very respectable!

@MrsH497 glad it all went well and you have an understanding midwife, must be a big relief for you.

@MrsEG oh fingers crossed it happens for her soon. Can't believe she was fine and then BAM. For some reason I thought PE was picked up earlier. There is so, so, so much about pregnancy/birth I don't know Grin. I am a freak for garlic so it's not a big deal to me, but my husband looked at me utterly horrified (tbf it was 7am and I hadn't even had a coffee yet haha). Oh wagamamas is the best - what did you go for?

@BostonFern glad to hear you're feeling OK - don't worry about being as slow as a snail, I think it's pretty common! I feel so out of breath atm.

I'm feeling better - I think I look and sound a lot worse than I am! - so heading out to meet up with some friends later. Would sort of rather an evening curled up in with my book, but they are from out of county so I'll make the effort! Have a lovely evening all x

MrsEG · 03/10/2019 17:59

@BostonFern I should be keeping an eye on my sugar intake as I have an increased risk of GD, but I find it very, very hard! Glad to hear you are feeling better :)

@purplefig I know, I always thought they’d spot PE early but it’s happened to another friend too a few years ago. Again sailed through pregnancy but noticed her hands and feet swelling a lot around 36 weeks so she called the midwife - they did a urine sample, it confirmed PE and she was induced a few days later. Crazy isn’t it! It’s why they say never feel stupid calling a midwife about anything! I had the Waga classic - the katsu! Ruddy delicious - I’m still full now. Enjoy your night with your friends!

OP posts:
BostonFern · 03/10/2019 18:04

Thanks @purplefig Enjoy your evening too.

Thanks @MrsEG

LokiCat · 03/10/2019 20:12

Hi all! Ended up doing some extra hours at work, so on the way home now. Also just ordered a takeaway to arrive at home when I do Grin Feel absolutely shattered. So glad to be working from home tomorrow!

@BostonFern I haven't had Pom bears in so long. I think they may become a part of my diet now! 😂
I'm already so slow when walking. I get so out of breath when walking to the station with my colleagues. I can either walk or talk 🙈

@Fivebyfive2 ooh I might get it then. Just noticed it's the top of the list for the parenting book recs from Mumsnet, as well!
Congrats on second place! Those tuxedo brownies look amazing. I had never heard of them before but now I want one so bad 😍

@Anny27 thanks lovely!
I couldn't wait either. I think I told my parents a few days after I got my bfp!
Hope your day wasn't too long and you got relax this evening!

@purplefig haha interesting concoction! Glad it's helped you. Although not sure I'd be able to swallow a garlic clove!

@MrsH497 so glad your midwife appointment went well and that they've taken your anxiety seriously.

@MrsEG your food day sounds brilliant!! I love Wagamama and then a sweet buffet as well! 😍

So I've been feeling some stretching pains across my abdomen today. Did anyone else get them at 11 weeks as well? I've read they're normal but think I just need some reassurance/a good talking to as I can't stop worrying that it's something a lot worse! 🙈

ELW85 · 03/10/2019 20:13

Evening all!

@LokiCat @purplefig @MrsEG @BostonFern - thanks ladies. Work has been insane but I’m hoping that it’ll calm down after tomorrow 😊
DH has been absolutely amazing ❤️ He’s really looked after me and the fries went a long way, but I came in tonight to a super clean house, candles on and a hoodie. He knows me so well 😊

@Fivebyfive2 - those brownies look insane!! I shouldn’t be hungry after tea but I. Hold totally smash one of those 😂

@MrsH497 - pleased your appointment went well!

What did we think of The Capture? Is the next episode the last? Kind of feels like it’s wrapping up.

ELW85 · 03/10/2019 20:17

Oh, forgot to mention; someone at work told me about the ‘BabyName’ app today. It’s like Tinder for baby names and you and your OH can swipe separately and then match on names! Just a bit of fun but I’ve just downloaded it!

BabySquid · 04/10/2019 06:58

Morning all, had a busy day yesterday so just been catching up.
@LokiCat I had quite a lot of stretching pains early on, I know a few of the ladies on here did too. Try not to worry too much.
@Fivebyfive2 those brownies look Amazing!!
@MrsEG I hope your friend has her baby soon she must be going through it emotionally to be told she has PE!

Well I'm off work today, off for a spa day with my mum she booked for part of my 30th. I'm getting a realignment apparently (whatever that is!) looking forward to it either way! Have a great day ladies

BostonFern · 04/10/2019 08:05

@LokiCat I remember that early breathlessness-it eased off for me for a while in the second trimester, then came back for the third trimester. I also had stretching pains around 11 or 12 weeks too.

@ELW85 aww, how lovely of your DH!

@BabySquid enjoy your spa day!

No plans for today yet, I expect I'll go and see my parents as they've just got back off holiday. I have my baby shower tomorrow though, which is exciting!

MrsEG · 04/10/2019 09:45

@LokiCat I got stretching pains constantly, sometimes a sneeze would make me feel like I was being ripped in half!! Your uterus is stretching a lot so unless it’s really painful, it’s just ligament pain :)

@ELW85 DH sounds fabulous! I hope work calms down a little for you. I wasn’t thrilled by The Capture this week; it just felt a bit all over the place! My friend used that app and they picked their name using it, Nina!

@BabySquid Enjoy your spa day! Sounds fabulous :)

@BostonFern Ooh Enjoy your baby shower tomorrow how lovely!!

Happy Friday ladies! WFH today with the dog and trying to do some clearing up as and when, I’ve been up since 6! We had an old bed, fridge and desk picked up yesterday so we can finally start clearing and cleaning rooms properly for decorating now!

OP posts:
purplefig · 04/10/2019 12:51

@MrsEG ooo how satisfying - are you starting on decorating this weekend?
Any news from your friend?

@BabySquid sounds amazing - let us know what realignment is!!

@ELW85 what a champ! Is that one of the best things about marriage? When one of you is struggling/overwhelmed the other one can help ❤️

@LokiCat how was your takeaway? I got loads of stretching (which often felt like v mild cramping).

Well I don't think it was wise of me to go out last night - woke up feeling rotten!! X

ELW85 · 04/10/2019 13:19

Afternoon all!

@Babysquid - enjoy your spa day!

@BostonFern - how exciting for your baby shower! Is it a surprise or have you had a hand in the day?

@purplefig - I honestly couldn’t be without him; he keeps me sane! I hope you’re feeling better soon, is it a cold?

@MrsEG - I wasn’t a fan of The Capture either. Let’s hope next week is better?!

MrsEG · 04/10/2019 13:27

@purplefig Oh no! Are you feeling awful as in poorly again, or just exhausted? Get your feet up! We’re just going to clear and clean this weekend in prep - some of the grime left behind old units turned my stomach!!!

@ELW85 Yeah I’m hoping for a return to form next week, especially after I recommended it to so many friends this week!!

Currently looking for some winter boots that will slip on - bump is at the ‘getting in the way’ stage now so I can’t do my shoe laces! So on the hunt for some cheap slip-on comfy boots. I know TKMaxx used to do cheap snow-boot style which would be so warm so might pop in there later!
Hope everyone has lovely weekends! I have yoga tomorrow then Sunday a big group of us are going for food and then to the see Joker movie!
