@MrsEG oh that's interesting - so what did they sleep in during the day? Yay for a birth ball and two WFH days, that should make the rest of your time at work more manageable. Double feature treat tonight!! What bake off treat are you planning? Honestly, that was the highlight for me when I used to watch it Grin.

@thumper59 oh dear, that's a long time to be waiting! You're so organised getting stuff ordered from 13 weeks...I really need to get my butt into gear.

@MrsR16 ahhh a surprise - exciting! Most people were initially boy for me, but ever since finding out we weren't finding out, a few have swapped to girl!

thumper59 · 01/10/2019 15:24

@MrsR16 aw Thankyou lovely 💞 you just never know how you'll feel on the day do you, luckily I've felt mostly great all the way through so far! Aww I really love them, he wriggles about with them too I imagine they annoy him poor soul!

@purplefig I ordered my furniture and pram at 13 weeks. The pram I've had no issue with. The furniture had delays and came damaged and needed swapping... this was all in August 🙄 so I know I still had some time to go, luckily the damage got sorted quickly after we had a bit of a word with the company, but for how organised I had planned to be it really threw a spanner in the works, and we had to do a lot of chasing! now we are waiting on the Moses basket... 🙄

MrsEG · 01/10/2019 15:50

@MrsH497 They’ve been fab - they are a super flexible company. I’m very lucky! I used to work in the complete opposite environment so I don’t take it for granted at all!

@thumper59 I know - can I still party at 30 weeks with twins?! I struggle to walk the dog some days! Oh what a pain with your deliveries - it’s never easy is it?! Hope it all gets sorted soon!

@MrsR16 38 weeks at the Xmas do!! Haha a brave move - have some blankets on standby!! Yep - birthing ball at my desk! I’ll have a core of steel come Christmas haha!

@BabySquid Glad the jabs all went well!

@purplefig Daytime naps have been such a mix with my friends - a lot said they napped in the pram (flat out during and after a walk), some would only sleep on Mum, so would wrap them in a sling and take them out to send them off, etc. Such a mixed bag! It’s why I’m buying nothing and will trial and error it - thank god for Amazon prime!! One friend used a Sleepyhead for day naps but there’s a lot of conflicting info about their safety so I’m avoiding those.
It’s dessert week tonight so I’m hitting up the patisserie after work!

BabySquid · 01/10/2019 16:09

@MrsEG I plan on getting a sleepyhead for day naps, my thoughts are I'll be there anyway watching and they can't roll for the first however long anyway, and if they're good enough for Stacy Solomon they're good enough for me!

Guys I'm finally going to go swimming tonight! After I joined last month they changed the times as another pool was closed, so they changed most the after work swim to accommodate their disabled only classes, which I don't mind, but has meant I've been lazy!

Btw I hate this app sometimes!!

MrsEG · 01/10/2019 16:29

@BabySquid One friend said her baby wouldn’t nap in anything else, and so many people have them. Like you say, I think you need to be pretty vigilant with them but they work for so many. My issue is TAMBA specifically advise against them and with me having two I’m not sure I could grab both if they both rolled out at the same time haha!
Enjoy your swim! I have aquanatal next week, looking forward to it!!

purplefig · 01/10/2019 18:09

@thumper59 oh that's crazy you've been waiting so long! Still, very bloody organised of you in the first place Grin

@MrsEG it's such a minefield isn't it? I sort of assumed they'd spend lots of time asleep on me / in sling, but I was reading about safety issues with that the other day (more if you fall asleep)! Oh my god enjoy drooling your way around the patisserie...glorious! I'm not even watching and I've popped out for Aldi's finest chocolate melt in the middle Belgian puddings....gotta love pregnancy.

Have a good night all! x

LokiCat · 01/10/2019 18:34

Hi ladies! Our networks were back up and running today, thankfully!

@Anny27 I'm 10+5 today, it has felt like it's to this point, but I also can't believe I'm almost 11 weeks! I think having an early scan at 9 weeks definitely made it easier having something to look forward to in between.
I know, I'm still shocked at big they're getting!
We'll probably find out what we're having. I'm too impatient to wait till the end 😂

@purplefig can't wait for The Capture tonight! Hope we finally find out what the heck is going on!
Those Aldi puddings sound divine (I definitely drooled) 😍 enjoy!!

@thumper59 ahh you look gorgeous (as always!). Good on you for managing to stay (and dance!!) in your heels all night - well done!
Can't believe you're due next month, so excited for you! I hope the company gets its act together for the Moses basket, how annoying.

@MrsEG your work sounds brilliant, getting you a birthing ball and WFH home days. That's great! I'm hoping to be able to get some WFH days in the final few months.
What did you get from the patisserie? Enjoy 😍 I'm starting to crave a dessert now!

@MrsR16 oh wow, that must feel amazing.
Ah I can imagine. DH has already mentioned he can't wait to feel/see movement!

Have a great evening all 😊 x

Lemonysherbet · 01/10/2019 18:50

Hey all,

Back in rainy England after my holiday (boo) and slowly reading through the thread :)
@MrsEG I would love to have WFH days now and I'm only 6 weeks 😂 they sound like a good employer to have!

@lokicat I can't believe you're nearly 11 weeks already, that's gone fast (probably not for you though).

I'm so tired today. 5+6 according to the app, who knew it would be so tiring so early on!

MrsH497 · 01/10/2019 20:17

@Lemonysherbet oh I'm exhausted all the time and I'm just over 7 weeks.

Got myself some belvita biscuits to see if it helps me eat something in the mornings. Didn't feel like this at all last time so taking it all as good signs! Boobs are sore and getting big.

Cooked a yummy stew and dumplings for dinner just what I needed and the weather was crap today! We went to ikea and looked at the nursery furniture

BabySquid · 02/10/2019 06:08

Morning all, I need some help... I keep finding myself waking up on my back. I know I need to stop as I woke up last night too many times with LO feeling uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this problem and did a pillow fix it?? TIA xx

MrsH497 · 02/10/2019 08:42

Well work are being total pricks quite frankly not shown me as pregnant on the rosta so I'm having my hours changed for extinction rebellion - asked if I could not do the lates and have been told it's busy hope it's no too difficult. I pretty much feel sick from when I wake up to when I go to sleep I didn't think I was asking too much.

Just sat in the toilet and cried.

MrsR16 · 02/10/2019 08:54

@MrsH497 oh that's horrible! It's really not good when work aren't supportive. I'd fight back or self-certify... 😕 sending virtual hugs across the internet!

MrsH497 · 02/10/2019 09:08

Thanks @MrsR16 I just can't believe I'm basically being told to suck it up. I will do the extra hours in the operations room which is what I'm qualified for but making me work 1-11pm when I've got another 90 mins travel doesn't seem fair really. Xx

purplefig · 02/10/2019 09:12

@LokiCat woo hoo - that's great! Not sure I could've faced another day of cleaning up the office either. Did you enjoy The Capture? It felt a bit like lazy story telling to me, but nevertheless I was glad to learn a bit more about what's going on! The Aldi puddings were next level good...like they tasted M&S level decent...and for under £2!! 10/10 recommend.

@Lemonysherbet How was your hols? I was exhausted in the first trimester and napped quite a bit during the day. They do say it's usually when you feel the most tired, so just try and go with it. My bedtime was 8pm some nights...

@BabySquid I did some reading on this the other day and came to the conclusion as long as you roll over as soon as you wake up it'll be fine. But if you're particularly worried, wedge a pillow behind you to help prop your back up.

@MrsH497 stew and dumplings sounds so good! We had a slow cooker curry last night and it was perfect for this weather. Sorry to hear your work aren't being very supportive.

@ELW85 all ok lovely? Haven't heard from you in a while.

I hope everyone has a lovely Wednesday! It's another rainy day down here - nothing too exciting, work and then going to pick up an insert for the IKEA chair we got from our local buy nothing group. I might also nip out to the library because my copy of 'The book you wish your parents had read' has come in. Then I'll probably fall into the trap of watching The Apprentice even though I say I won't every damn year...

LokiCat · 02/10/2019 09:14

Morning all! Happy hump day

@Lemonysherbet I know, I can't believe I'm almost 11 weeks as well! It definitely dragged at the beginning, but the last two weeks seem to have sped up!
I constantly feel exhausted, especially after lunch time. Sitting there yawning away and in no mood to work at all!

@MrsH497 I'm sorry work are being so shite. Could speaking to fed reps re hours help at all?

LokiCat · 02/10/2019 09:19

@purplefig cross post! The Capture was okay. DH was so confused by the end bless him 😂 I did think that the different theories I had heard would have been a lot more exciting than the explanation they actually gave. One more episode left I think! Ooh I'll have to check them out, I love melt in the middle puddings!
Oh I didn't even realise The Apprentice was coming back on. It definitely isn't the same as it used to be. I'm thinking of checking out a show on ITV called A Confession. A few people in the office have recommended it. Have a brill day Grin

MrsH497 · 02/10/2019 09:26

@LokiCat forget you understand the world of police! Think I might have to or the superintendent for met family and metbaby see what they say. I totally get the operational need but that seems to outweigh the personal.

MrsEG · 02/10/2019 09:28

Morning all!
First day in the office on my birthing ball haha, it’s super comfy! So so crisp and cold in Manchester today though - Autumn is definitely on its way! Makes me excited for Halloween!!

@purplefig Total, utter minefield when it comes to baby naps! Sometimes I worry my two will have different preferences too 😟 but god I hope not!! Ooh that Aldi pudding sounds amazing! I ended up bypassing the patisserie and getting an arctic roll - retro perhaps, but a dessert nonetheless! Ooh that book sounds good, I’ll look it up! I missed the Capture - was sound asleep at 9:30. Can catch up tonight!

@LokiCat Glad your networks are working again! Gosh 11 weeks already - this week will drag to get to that hallowed scan date but it really picks up after that; I can’t believe I’ll be 20 weeks this weekend!

@Lemonysherbet Glad you enjoyed your holiday! Yeah they’re really good with WFH here which is fabulous. I was shattered in those early weeks, particularly from around weeks 7-11 I couldn’t keep my eyes open, work was a struggle!

@MrsH497 That stew sounds amazing!! Do you make the dumplings yourself? sorry to hear about work, how awful.

@BabySquid A pillow definitely helps me get in to position to drift off on the left but if you wake up on your back it’s not a problem, just roll back again. I always wake up on my back!! They say as baby gets bigger/heavier it will wake you immediately anyway with the pressure. You only really need to start doing it from 28 weeks, too (but I’m trying to get in to the habit of it now!)

OP posts:
purplefig · 02/10/2019 09:29

@LokiCat I've avoided reading any theories...I'll have to check them out at the end. Oh really - I thought there were seven episodes in total? I do love autumn/winter for good British dramas!!

@MrsEG sorry to hound you with questions - but am I right in thinking you got the car seats for the out n about? I've just seen a second hand carry cot on FB that I'm going to try and get (so that is appropriate for newborn), but I'm undecided on the car seats...what made you go for them out of interest, as I know you mentioned the Joie etc. as your actual car seat of choice.

purplefig · 02/10/2019 09:30

@MrsEG cross post!!!! Love the retro arctic roll, sometimes the oldies really are the best. I'll let you know what the book is like. Enjoy The Capture!

Anny27 · 02/10/2019 10:14

@BabySquid i am in two minds now i think its so exciting to wait but also want to know haha! Think if we did find out we wouldnt tell anyone else as i think its so excitinf when a new baby arrives to have the "its a boy/its a girl" call :D

@Purplefig haha your baby made your mind up for you i love that 😂

@mrsEG yes time drags! I thought the 4 months ttc time was slow but this is a whole new level haha!

@LokiCat ahh nearly in your 2nd trimester then :D i just booked an early 9 week scan so i have that to look forward to! Have you told many people about baby yet?

MrsEG · 02/10/2019 10:26

@purplefig Ask away! So I don’t know about the single but the Out n About double isn’t actually car-seat compatible, so I don’t really need one that will attach to the pram. It’s why we originally looked at ‘long term’ car seats, like the Joie 360 - but my sister reminded me they don’t really come out of the car easily so if they nap in them and I just need to get them back in the house it’ll be a nightmare.
So, we’re looking now at getting the Joie I-Level for when they are babies and upgrading to the 360 after a year or so. We’ve gone I-Level as it has the lie flat recline for when they are sleeping, and comes with the ISOFIX base which is perfect for my car. DH went to Halfords and they gave him tonnes of advice on it all!

OP posts:
purplefig · 02/10/2019 11:03

@MrsEG thanks for the detailed answer! So did you not buy car seats for the Out n About?! I thought I read you'd got them second-hand...I hate the phrase baby brain but I might just have to use it here hahaaa. Must have been something else. I've just looked up and the Single is 'travel system compatible' and you can get adapters to fit Maxi Cosi or BeSafe carseats. God it is such a bloody minefield. I'm going to send DH to Halfords I think.... Grin

@ Anny27 they did Grin I'm wondering if it's a sign of what's to come!! I had an early scan at 8+4 and it was absolutely amazing getting to see the heartbeat, so lovely and reassuring. How long until your 9 week one?
