I'm awake too! Been awake for about 2 hours and have given up trying to go back to sleep now

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 22/09/2019 05:44

Wow congratulations @SamStephens one hour is incredible!!

Em39ma · 22/09/2019 07:30

Maybe being awake is sign labour is near? Probably not and just wish full thinking. Had enough of barely being able to move and taking so long to do anything.
Just getting few last bits from John Lewis yesterday took an hour, because I move so slowly. Even ladies serving were like you ok? Looks like you are about to pop.

SC0508 · 22/09/2019 07:49

@Em39ma if only not sleeping was a sign, really wishing it was today 😂 DS got up at 7 both today and yesterday and OH offered to get up with him but didn't see the point in both of us loosing out on sleep since I had been awake most the night 😂 we get a new bed delivered tomorrow and really hoping this new mattress gives me a great sleep but I reckon that's wishful thinking too 😂😂

Em39ma · 22/09/2019 09:09

@SC0508 if the bed works let me know, I’d try anything at the moment.
Sitting here at the moment with low pain by my kidneys, trying to see if continues.
I always get pain there when I get AF, so not sure if it’s something or just kidney pain.

Slinkyreptile · 22/09/2019 09:23

Congratulations @SamStephens, she’s beautiful Flowers

Can totally relate to the no sleeping and sore hips. Seeking comfort knowing I’m not the only one.

When this little rascal appears we are going to be having words Grin last night I started having regular contractions that were lasting a while. So much pressure I had to keep sitting up in bed. This went in for 4-5 hours as well as having an episode of diarrhoea (sorry TMI but relevant!) and twinges started. Genuinely thought he was on route but eventually fell asleep and woke up with nothing happening.

userabcname · 22/09/2019 09:27

Congratulations @Samstephens! She is beautiful! And wow - what a fast labour! Must have been a real shock!! Hope you're home soon.

HJWT · 22/09/2019 09:39

@SC0508 @Em39ma We have quite a firm mattress due to DH back problems and I manage to sleep most of the night (wake up to pee a few times!) but when I get up I have to walk like a penguin because I am so stiff 😂😂

Positivity86 · 22/09/2019 09:41

Seems like a lot of us are suffering with sleep or lack of 😫
I was awake from 3am until 6.30am with dull lower back ache which I've not had before, so cue me heading to google checking early labour symptoms...I really hope it's not because I'm only 35+4! Managed to doze back off for a while and it seems to have eased off now.

Maryrobinson81 · 22/09/2019 10:06

I woke up so many times last night, lay there wondering if I still had cramps, managed to get back to sleep each time but it just makes you so tired doesn’t it. My cramps has eased off today so feeling better, wonder if it was baby moving a bit lower. Can get on with some jobs now today. Although my middle daughter is currently in bed having been very horrible to her little brother this morning. We are struggling with her at the moment to be honest, never know if we are doing the right thing either in the way we are dealing with it. I expect as long as we are consistent that will be the main thing. Eldest daughter has gone cleaning out with my partner and think we will all have a walk this afternoon looking for acorns for them - piggies favourite treat!

Frizzy1986 · 22/09/2019 10:33

Sounds like some possible promising labour signs for a few of you. First time, my cramps came and went for a few days before it kicked off so it is possible.

I really wish the discomfort and lack of sleep was a sign.

I tossed and turned a lot last night and had some awful dreams. We've been for a swim this morning, but I think it will be my last time as getting changed afterwards is very tough.
Baby seems in my arse today!
39 weeks on Tuesday so I think I'm in this for the long haul 😔

SRK16 · 22/09/2019 11:26

Sorry to hear so many of us are struggling with pain and sleep.

Have woken up with horrendous pain in my groin. It’s fine if I’m still but if I move it feels like a really bad bruise/being stabbed. Husband not being that sympathetic, think he thinks that I’m making a fuss.
Wanted to go to the shops to pick up an order but don’t think I can handle it. Just feel like crying. Only six days to go, very surreal.

Slinkyreptile · 22/09/2019 11:56

@Positivity86 - I’m terrible for googling labour symptoms! Especially when what you experience doesn’t follow the textbook version of what you hear. This is DC2 for me but it’s been so different this time round compared to my last pregnancy/labour

HJWT · 22/09/2019 12:13

@Maryrobinson81 I know how you feel, DD has started completely ignoring us now, worried about what she will be like when baby arrives! Will with go one way or the other. She will see the paediatrician again in December, iv noticed she has started wiggling her fingers to now! Nursery say she is fine there but she is totally nuts at home 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Frizzy1986 fingers crossed for you baby comes out soon!

@SRK16 the pelvic pain is real! I said to DH I won't be surprised if I don't end up with a prolapse the baby is pushing down so hard 🤣

CarysRed · 22/09/2019 12:48

Afternoon everyone, my cramps are getting really strong today. I keep googling labour signs but I’m not sure yet.

Positivity86 · 22/09/2019 12:56

@Slinkyreptile it's so hard not too isn't it! This is my first so as I get closer to due date, I'm questioning every twinge!

@Frizzy1986 I hope things get started for you soon!

AngeIoMysterioso · 22/09/2019 13:32

Afternoon all! Totally forgot we’d moved onto a second thread, I was wondering why nobody had posted on the other one for several days...

Congratulations @SamStephens! Your girl is just gorgeous!

@SunshineSophia I’m struggling with living at PILs to be honest, I’m having to change everything I do to fit round them... usually when I wake up at night and can’t get back to sleep (which is every night) I would make myself a herbal tea, sit on the sofa, maybe have the telly on low or read a book. But PILs set an alarm every night so after they’ve gone to bed nobody can go downstairs, so now I just lie in bed awake for hours with my phone in my face. I know I could just ask them to turn it off but I would feel rude asking them to change how they live in their own home...

SunshineSophia · 22/09/2019 14:00

@SamStephens congrats! She is gorgeous 😍 One hour sounds magical (and very very painful)! Was birth straightforward?

@AngeIoMysterioso I know what you mean. My PIL sleep in the living room (for various reasons), but I'm an early riser so when I moved in with them I found myself, like you, laying awake endlessly scrolling until they woke up or my husband woke up so we could go down together and I would have someone to sit with. Mine's a bit more long term so I've just kind of got used to it but hopefully yours is super temporary and you can move out soon 😊

SunshineSophia · 22/09/2019 14:04

@AngeIoMysterioso we should start a living with in-laws support thread lol 😋

SRK16 · 22/09/2019 14:09

@AngeIoMysterioso that sounds really difficult. Could you ask for the alarm code so you can unset/reset at night? Hopefully they will understand.

The pelvic pain I have today is completely different from what I’ve had before, wondering if anyone else has experience of this? Feels like sharp/bruising sensation in my groin, very low, to the right of where the crease of the Labia is. It is now hurting even when I’m still- it’s worse when my legs are together or when I move at all. Every step is painful. Doesn’t feel like pressure so I’m wondering if it’s a trapped nerve? Unhappy and feel very whingey!

On the plus, husband is making me a fish finger sandwich, and I just discovered one tree hill is on prime! 😂

SC0508 · 22/09/2019 14:23

Is anyone else experiencing a lot of pressure right down, I honestly feel that when am walking a head is gonna fall out 😂 tried using my ball to ease the pain but just feels so uncomfortable and like I am squishing myself 😂

CarysRed · 22/09/2019 14:52

Is anyone else changing their mind constantly on a name? I keep thinking I’ve got it and then I heard another name and think that’s better!!.

@SC0508 I’ve got a lot of pressure down there too. It’s really uncomfortable.

HJWT · 22/09/2019 14:58

@SRK16 @SC0508 Yes lots of pelvic pain and lots of pressure! Has been like this for a couple of weeks now... I don't remember this with DD I just had hip pain with her 🤔

How is everyone today? We’re all tired here after going to a wedding yesterday afternoon / night. Ds had a blast, but was not built for staying up late and is in a mega bad & overtired mood today. Not fun!

Congratulations @SamStephens! She is gorgeous, and what an entrance! I hope you are getting close to going home now.

Sorry so many are having bad nights sleep. I’m with you right there. I definitely don’t think it’s a sign of imminent labour, as I would’ve had the baby weeks ago if it was! I’m also having the weirdest, most vivid dreams, so I don’t feel very rested when I sleep.

That sounds very promising @Slinkyreptile. Things are definitely moving in the right direction for you.

@SRK16 maybe your baby has engaged? I’ve got a lot more discomfort low down the past few days and one of my mates suggested that last night. Ds never did it, so i’ve No idea what to expect.

Hopefully it’s all a good sign for you too @CarysRed.
We keep going back & forth between a few names. I have no idea how we will decide. We were so sure with ds’ name. Hopefully he will look like one of them when he comes out!

That sounds tough @AngeIoMysterioso. I would ask them to change the alarm - you’re going to have to get up potentially in the night for feeds / drinks etc when baby comes. And you might want to walk about when labour starts. Maybe your dh could ask them?

Have a good Sunday everyone. My sickness has been much better this week & I'm very excited about the roast beef dinner i’ve Got cooking.

HJWT · 22/09/2019 15:38

If anyone comes across a programme called 24 hour baby hospital don't watch it 🤢 talk about bloody graphic! Shows everything even delivering the placenta and putting in an epidural! Yuk...
