Hi everyone! I am brand new to this, 17weeks pregnant with a little boy. No current children just looking for support and advice so I don’t have to brave Dr google. Hope everyone is feeling good now that second trimester has arrived! We are due 18th October and are going to St Mary’s in Manchester. Anyone else?

Kirst

@Doop - I had a massive boost of energy and felt great for the rest of the day after the acupuncture!

I'm pretty much back to feeling how I was before now though, so not sure it's worth the money just to feel better for the day - but it's probably worth giving it a few sessions.

Hi @Jodie6 @13keeks ! This is deffo a great place for advice :) So jealous you both know sex already! I need to wait until the 21st Envy hahah

Is anyone is maternity clothing? I am a funny shape at the moment and finding it easier to wear maternity dresses (I live in dresses and skirts)

SRK16 · 10/05/2019 18:52

Yep I’m in maternity clothes now. Have been in mat jeans since about 12 weeks, but have found over the past few weeks less and less fits me so treated myself to some H&M maternity dresses! I’m properly showing now and enjoying it 😊

Woolly17 · 10/05/2019 21:36

I've started wearing maternity tops now. All my usual tops are riding up...
Not wearing dresses so much this time as I'm running around after a toddler.

GinMama1 · 10/05/2019 22:08

I feel like maternity clothes are a bit big but my old clothes are too small. I have nothing to wear!!

newbabyyy2019 · 11/05/2019 08:16

I'm literally just wearing leggings everywhere because all my jeans are high waisted and I can't do them up anymore. My work trousers dig into my stomach so I've been wearing leggings to work and been told by my manager that I must wear tailored maternity trousers as leggings are not policy blah blah but maternity clothing I've found is very over priced. Anyone know of anywhere you can get maternity tailored trousers that aren't too much money?

13keeks · 11/05/2019 08:35

I’ve been managing ok so far by just wearing my slightly larger fitting clothes but unfortunately my work trousers were just too tight. I went to marks and Spencer’s for mine as they have lots which have elasticated waist and very reasonably priced too. I just bought a few nice wrap tops from boohoo maternity which were about a tenner each. I bought the size up from my normal and tie the wrap tight at present and wear a little vest underneath so I know as my bump grows I can tie the wrap part looser etc. Hope that helps @newbabyyy2019

13keeks · 11/05/2019 08:37

It will come along super soon! Are you having a gender reveal or finding out in the room? Oooh I’m so excited for you. It was the best day when we found out! X

abcriskringle · 11/05/2019 08:45

I'm in maternity clothes! Started this week. It's a blessed relief - bump really is popping (this is my second so was expecting an earlier pop!) so it's been a dream having the extra room.

Also, FINALLY my morning sickness is easing!!!! Woohoooo!! Yesterday and Thursday I ate so much! It's lovely being able to eat/enjoy food again. I will have to start reigning it in as I am already overweight so really don't need to be gaining too much but what a relief.

Looking forward to the 20 week scan now - 3 weeks to go! Out of interest (I'm probably reading too much into this) but anyone who's had a scan at around 16 weeks - were you asked to empty your bladders? I followed advice of having a full bladder but very quickly was told to go and empty it by the sonographer! Does this mean I have a huge baby?! I thought they needed the bladder to be full to see the baby properly?!

womaninkent · 11/05/2019 08:54

@katnisskringle this happened to me and my 12 week scan and my baby is exactly the right size so I wouldn’t worry.

abcriskringle · 11/05/2019 09:43

@womaninkent thanks! Phew! That is reassuring.

GinMama1 · 11/05/2019 12:32

@newbabyyy2019 try Dorothy Perkins maybe? Or gap, there's almost always offers on their site.

Paliex · 12/05/2019 20:54

Hello! Thought I'd join this group as due in early Oct (5th). Not really familiar with Mumsnet, but thought I'd give it a go! In SE of UK and 2nd baby. First baby had colic for 4 months due to tongue tie that wasn't picked up. So thought it wld be good to have a bit of support. Hope you are all doing ok out there! :-)

faelavie · 12/05/2019 21:58

I'm 18 weeks and finally not getting daily migraines anymore! Just the odd one which is manageable. Long may this continue!

I'm still in my normal clothes, not that big, however I usually live in yoga pants and leggings anyway so plenty of stretch!

Been watching Louis Theroux tonight, feel a bit emotional as I know I'm at risk of post natal depression, it was a hard watch.

GinMama1 · 13/05/2019 14:47

Hello to all the new people. We are a bit quiet over here as we are also on facebook these days. PM me if you want to join that group.

2018isanewyear · 13/05/2019 15:16

@GinMama1 how do I PM 🙈

GinMama1 · 13/05/2019 15:24

2018 if you are on the website, go to my mumsnet top right. If you are on the app... I'm not sure, sorry!

sal1987 · 13/05/2019 16:00

@GinMama1 I sent a PM a while ago, did you get it?

kmammamalto · 13/05/2019 16:00

Hello All!!!

I'm finally joining! I've been reading all your posts since the first thread, which makes me sound like such a stalker! But I just wasn't ready to join before. It was a very unexpected pregnancy, right before we got married and everything was crazy.
Anyways, got married last weekend and now 18 weeks with baby no. 2 and have a 2.5yo who is 100 miles an hour. I'm so so tired all the time! Anyone else?
Also lovely to hear about window to the womb @jodie, we are booked in there on Thursday as my husband can't make the 20 week scan. We are in west sussex so hello to anyone else out there!
Hope you're all feeling good in the 2nd trimester!
Also good to see everyone embracing the maternity clothes. J definitely look pregnant now..no way I'm getting into my jeans for a while!

Frizzy1986 · 13/05/2019 19:21

Welcome to any newbies.
I've been in mat clothes for ages but can't really afford to get much so I have a limited supply for work.
I'm feeling massive and was probably only just showing at this point last time but already appear to have a football down my top.
20 week scan tomorrow so hoping my mind can rest a bit and we can start getting stuff down from the loft to figure out how much we need to buy (hoping very little)

YorkshireIndie · 15/05/2019 22:23

Getting more movement. Baby is sitting on my right hand side and is really moving. DH was even able to feel some kicks 🥰☺️

newbabyyy2019 · 15/05/2019 22:55

@YorkshireIndie I've been getting lots of kicks too, I'm 19 weeks now and she's really moving about in there and makes me emotional every time I feel it! how far along are you? I want my DP to be able to feel it so bad but don't think they're strong enough to feel on the outside just yet my midwife said he might be able to feel it with his hand at around 23 weeks

YorkshireIndie · 16/05/2019 07:28

Newbabyy2019 I am 18wks. TBF the baby was sitting hard against my right hand side and DH was only able to feel one kick. I know what you mean about feeling emotional. It feels like there is something actually in there and not just food 😂

GinMama1 · 16/05/2019 09:41

kmammamalto DS is almost 2 and yep, pregnancy and toddler combo is exhausting!

17 weeks here, not sure I've had much movement but have got my c section signed off, wohoo.
