Hi!!

This week I have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all positive. I’m afraid to get too excited because it is so early. I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I have no other signs of pregnancy so it doesn’t feel real yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

First pregnancy, so many questions but I can’t ask friends or family yet.

Right ladies, how many weeks will you be when you see the midwife? Is it just one appointment then your scan?

I filled out the bloody form at the doctors over a week ago and have heard nothing. This happened last time I was pregnant and I had to chase it up and I wasn't seen till I was 10wks. Is it supposed to be around 8 weeks they see u? I'm 7wks tomorrow getting annoyed I don't have an appointment yet 🙄

Also have absolutely no symptoms, I feel totally normal. I'm tiered, that's it but that's nothing unusual lol

Emmilou82 · 24/04/2019 22:10

@Shelbybear I'll be 9+3 when I see mine on 21st May but they do say about 10 weeks I think for booking in.

Verity1989 · 24/04/2019 22:12

@Pip231018 agreed! I'm glad I told who I told, just hoping I don't have to go back to them with bad news!

Mate, I already looked like a beach whale pre pregnancy, there's no hope! There's this really pretty, lovely girl I went to school with who is now heavily pregnant, her IG is just too amazing to be true! She looks amazing in every single pic of her clutching her stomach with perfect make up and not a hair out of place. And then there's me, being sick earlier and rubbing my eyes after until I looked like a drunk panda!

Thank you for your well wishes! Hopefully I can post the scan of the little pea or as husband and I refer to it as, 'the tubular bells' (we've taken to yelling 'dingalingaling!' when we go over speed bumps in the car. At least I can say one thing, this kid will never fail to be embarrassed by us! GrinGrin

Shelbybear · 24/04/2019 22:15

@Emmilou82 Thanks, maybe I'll wait another week before jumping the gun then lol.

Soooo impatient! I'm on holiday when I'm 10-12 wks pregnant so I'd ideally like booking in appointment and a scan date before I go.

Pip231018 · 24/04/2019 22:17

@Verity1989 Start your own IG documenting the pregnancy of a drunk panda. You'll be a social influencer before you know it!

My sister lost weight, she is smaller at 8.5 months preggo than she was when she started at a size 10. I got the stretchy pants gene. I hope jersey dungarees are available. Failing that I vow to turn my duvet covers in to moo moos and look like a 5'3 walking tent.

I'm very excited to see your scan, I promise when I see it I will have a hand bell at the ready! X

badfurday · 24/04/2019 22:19

Hi all. I'm due on the 8th December. I'm feeling excited but nervous, had a miscarriage at 9 weeks in January so analysing everything at the moment. I'm 7+3 today and feel like my boobs aren't hurting as much and I feel the best I've felt in ages which is making me worried.
Tempted to book an early scan but husband thinks I'm being paranoid. 😳

December2018 · 24/04/2019 22:20

@IHD83 haha yessss my belly is ridiculously ridiculous!
I'd just got back into my pre pregnancy jeans too... always the way!
I'm starting to relax a bit more about it now I've had time to process my feelings I would always have been made up but the anxiety of doing it all again was taking over my brain... the excitement is kicking in now, can't wait to feel those little wiggles and the closeness only me and this babba will share for those few short months

Ferii · 25/04/2019 05:51

Does anyone have any recommendations for creams to reduce the chances of stretch marks? I know that its genetics etc as well but I'm hoping I can at least try to prevent them....

Emmilou82 · 25/04/2019 05:59

@Ferii the only things I'm aware of is keeping your skin moisturised is it called 'bio-oil'? That's supposed to be good.
Cocoa oils and Shea butters are natural and good creams to use.

Pip231018 · 25/04/2019 06:38

@Ferii My sister used Egyptian Magic Cream and she has no stretch marks at full term. It's supposed to be amazing. So that's what I'm going with. X

IHD83 · 25/04/2019 08:08

@Ferii Last year someone told me at Boots that the best to prevent strech marks is bio-oil. It says you should start using it after the first trimestre but it was quite expensive. I ended up buying Elancyl ‘strecht mark prevention’, another one that someone recommended me, and didn’t get any in my prev pregnancy. Not sure if it was because of gens (my mum didn’t have any when she was pregnant) or because of the cream, but I think it is good to use something anyway, just in case.

@December2018, yes...I has started to use my pre-preg clothes (they fitted a bit tight tough...) and now back to preg clothes 🤦‍♀️ I am 8 weeks today so I was thinking about taking a picture of my belly. Last year I took the first at 8 weeks too, so I can see the difference 🤣

Good you are feeling better about everything now, I’m still feeling a bit anxious yet, maybe because I didn’t tell my family and also economical matters. Hope they don’t have a shock and they support me! We are thinking about telling first my OH’s parents and see how they react...

funkybum · 25/04/2019 08:23

Its scary telling people isnt it. I told my mum as she needed some good news, she then told my nan and my siblings.. I feel bad because DH family dont know!

Thinking of getting an early scan at 8 weeks and telling them then Smile

Verity1989 · 25/04/2019 08:24

I'm on it! Watch this space! Oohh jersey dungarees! In fact this morning I'm quite warming up to the idea of dungarees in general! Although i'd look like an old washer women! You'll look great!

Thank you! Bells at the ready!!!! :D

funkybum · 25/04/2019 09:17

When I was pregnant with my DS, I joined one of these threads and someone set up an off-shoot facebook group - has anyone done that for this group? Struggle to keep up on here!

IHD83 · 25/04/2019 09:30

@funkybum it’s not a bad idea, don’t think there is a facebook group but we could create one. Also, does anyone live north London? I’m feeling a bit alone since I’m in maternity leave with no friends who are mums. I would like to meet some mums once in a while to go for walks or have coffee! I spend the whole day just with my little boy and feel a bit bored...

funkybum · 25/04/2019 09:50

@IHD83 yes my Oct15 baby bus is amazing - there are regular meet-ups and honestly after 4 years, we are proper friends now.

I'm in Manchester I'm afraid but am sure there will be ladies local to you.

Just heading out to buy more tests Confused

Beaglemum93 · 25/04/2019 11:00

Hi everyone, I'm due on Christmas Day! I've had two miscarriages so really nervous about having another one, but third time lucky, right?

funkybum · 25/04/2019 15:39

Good luck Beagle - these early days are so worrying! I'm counting down til I can get a reassurance scan.. think its 8 weeks? I'm due 28/12 but will be a section, so assuming they will do it a bit early? Maybe not with it being Christmas!

Ail88 · 25/04/2019 15:56

Hi all

Im due 21 Dec. 1st pregnancy. Any tips?

IHD83 · 25/04/2019 16:03

@Ail88 Congratulations. My due date with my first baby was 21st Dec too! Although he was born on 26th 🤣
First tip, stay calm (maybe you are). We all tend to get anxious specially when is our first :)

Ail88 · 25/04/2019 16:07

Thanks trying to stay calm Smile I think someone earlier on the thread mentioned a Facebook page. Think that would be great as I have lost track on here Grin

IHD83 · 25/04/2019 16:07

@funkybum thanks. I installed Mush but didn’t get to meet anyone yet... I might try to chat with someone, I sound so desperate 😜

I would like to try a c-section this time, as my first birth didn’t go well even though it was finally natural birth (with instrumentation). Not sure if they will accept me for an elective cessarean, but my midwife referred me to a doctor so I can discuss options. Let’s see...

cheshirewifey · 25/04/2019 17:14

Hi All, got my BFP on April 1st! 😝 bit of a shock we had 7 years trying to conceive we had 2 MMC's then struggled for another 2 years before we finally welcomed our beautiful boy who is now 21months old, we decided to start trying for a sibling in March expecting it would be another couple of years but 3 weeks later we got our BFP!!!! Had my booking in app and bloods done and have my 12 week scan booked for 23rd May, I still can't believe it tho! But I'm driving myself mad comparing every twinge with my last successful pregnancy!, Hurry up May 23rd!!!!!!

IHD83 · 25/04/2019 17:31

@Pip231018 ‘besides almost passing out when I was giving blood’
God...I experienced the same when the midwife took the blood test...I got so dizzy that I had to lay down for few minutes. I’m glad I’m not the only one struggling with blood tests. It doesn’t happen always but sometimes...and I hate it.

bobble53 · 25/04/2019 18:17

Hey everyone. I have my booking in appointment on Monday - what should I expect? It’s not at my GP’s and is at a local children’s centre for some reason.

I am 9 weeks this weekend but an early EPU scan is dating me behind a week and told them not to scan me until the end of May. A private scan confirmed my dates and put me a week ahead than EPU. Will the midwife listen to my dates or just the EPU one?! I can’t wait an extra week for my scan!! X
