Hiya peeps,

DP and I have once again had a discussion over spelling of LO's name...when he gets here lol.

We have settled on Konor Michal, Konor is my way of spelling it but dp says if it being spelt with a K then we should spell it Konnor, I say Konor.

Michal he won't even attempt to judge me on as it was my dads name....pronounced Mehal it is Polish.

Which way would you choose? I prefer Konor and dp Konnor...

Taylor, I didn't ask for correction of spelling or for opinions on my name choice.... but fair enough many felt the need to slate me for making my own choice. I simply asked one or two N's...as I have said it is not rocket science but many felt the need to get personal. Until now I haven't been personal and for the record I still haven't. Taylor is used as a first name as well as a surname.

arrghhhh the shame, the shame .. ignore errant apostrophe in things

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/07/2007 12:04

Taylor, maybe it is hormones but please do show me where I have been nastier than others on here? And if it is hormones at least I have an excuse.....what are others excuses?

THeLadyEvenstar - I actually think you've been rather gracious through all this .. up to the last few posts .. and I'm also not surprised you've finally snapped

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/07/2007 12:05

Twiglet, many people do things differently, are we to class each of these as a chav because it doesn't follow our way of doing things? (not being personal just a question...like my OP really)

Twiglett.....I try my best lol

lisad123 · 08/07/2007 12:08

I thought chav stood for C=council H=House A=aggressive V=volient!! am i wrong?

Twiglett · 08/07/2007 12:08

TLE .. I was merely answering Lisa's question about 6 posts down

and as a self-confessed pedant I'm afraid I have to say that to me personally spelling things wrong makes the person look rather stupid .. but that's my thing .. heck my mother called me up at least 5 times specifically to tell me she hated the name we were giving our daughter ..

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/07/2007 12:10

Twiglett, My mum did that before I changed what I was going to call Ds1 lol.....

forgot to say yesterday, dd's paternal uncle is called Karl with a K, don't think he's had any problems, dd's dad is Dave, or David as his mother always states, he's 35 btw

As Sarahjct said (quite some time ago!!) if you want to use an Irish name why not use the traditional spelling (Conchúir or Conchobhair)?

The reason why Konnor looks so wrong is that there is no letter "K" in Irish. So it is actually a mis-spelling.

Adsa is truly dreadful (and Ikea - good grief!).

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/07/2007 12:23

wulfricsmummy, Thanks, I plan on sticking with Konnor Michal. As for the education side of it....I have a very good education and social background.

Haven't read the whole thread yet, but thought I'd say I would personally prefer Konor to Konnor, especially coupled with Michal and in relation to the Polish background.

Either way, well done for sticking to your guns. Sorry you've had to put up with the personal insults from other posters! (Lord knows how they can get so het up about the naming of someone else's child!).

ElenyaTuesday, I like it with a K, and I am not irish so don't plan on spelling it the older way. But thanks for info
