Hiya peeps,

DP and I have once again had a discussion over spelling of LO's name...when he gets here lol.

We have settled on Konor Michal, Konor is my way of spelling it but dp says if it being spelt with a K then we should spell it Konnor, I say Konor.

Michal he won't even attempt to judge me on as it was my dads name....pronounced Mehal it is Polish.

Which way would you choose? I prefer Konor and dp Konnor...

j20baby · 07/07/2007 23:18

Twinklemegan · 07/07/2007 23:19

(Is it dead yet d'ya think?)

j20baby · 07/07/2007 23:23

well and truly! watch out for my name thread when i've decided

sorry theleady for killing it

lisad123 · 08/07/2007 09:54

LOL at made up names. My cousin (3rd by the way) named his child Adsa, said as ace-er, problem was it was just asda spelt backwards. I am being very serious, now thats the funniest one ever.

moondog · 08/07/2007 10:37

lol at Adsa.
Dreadful!

Aitch · 08/07/2007 11:14

ladyevenstar and those who think that people have been harsh on this thread,

do you think that schoolchildren will be any less harsh?

why has this reaction to the purposeful mis-spelling of a perfectly lovely name not given you pause, ladyevenstar? seriously.

it's not a question of being found wanting by an mn jury, really, but the fact that the overwhelming majority thing it's a pretty awful name that makes you look like you can't spell or, that you're hoping for a spot on Jeremy Kyle... doesn't that make you question your decision?

i'm genuinely curious. don't you care at all what other people (friends, family, schoolkids, other parents) think? because when the baby's born they'll smile and nod and say this stuff behind you back.

Anyeay, I still vote Michal. it's lovely.

TaylorsMummy · 08/07/2007 11:18

i also don't like the naming both your children with the same letter tbh.

Karl and Connor looks much better than

Karl and Konnor/Konor

especially when the name is not actually intended to be spelt like that - iyswim!!

if you had another child, you couldn't carry on with the K naming as then you'd have three Ks and that would seriously not be good at all

Anna8888 · 08/07/2007 11:22

No, not good at all .

My sister's MIL is one of 5 girls whose first names all begin with C. My sister's SIL's name also begins with a C, as do those of her 2 daughters.

All a bit silly IMO.

Twiglett · 08/07/2007 11:37

Sorry can we focus on the child called Asda .. sorry Adsa .. for a moment

So the parent believes that should be pronounced Ace-er right?

So not only is there a silent d, but there's a non-existent 'e' to make the A 'say its name' AND a non-existent 'er' which has been replaced by an 'a'

oh ffs ... see MildmanneredJanitor's post down below ...

My neice was at school with Ikea.

Poor girl. She's only 5, and was mentioned on 8/10 cats as having the stupidest name in the country.

Aitch, I have no desire to be on the Jeremy Kyle show. Why would school pupils laugh? they will hear his name being pronounced I doubt they will pay much attention to the spelling. Family members like the name as do DP and I, Other parents i know like it as well. It is purpose of spelling with a K, simply because we like it. I am not worried about what other posters think...it was a simple question one or two N's....not exactly rocket science.

Taylor, when did I ask anyone if they liked the fact I was having both my sons names beginning with the letter K? my dp and his son have the same initials and before dp left his ex letters would come for Mr G.E * and there was never a problem. Also when ds1 is at a point when he is getting his own mail ds2 will still be small...there is a 9 yr age gap remember so it is not a major deal. At the end of the day I have made my choice and I am sure there are other posters on here whose dc names i don't like for instance I think Taylor is a silly name it is a name for a tradeperson.. which at some point has been MIS-SPELT to make a childs name...so where is the difference?..but hey each to their own.

Taylor is a surname though - spelt Taylor

Tayla is spelling it wrong, Taylor isn't.

It's fine you don't like it btw

no one has actually slagged off your name choice - it's just the spelling which is awful especially when combined with your other son's name

j20baby · 08/07/2007 11:58

would you all give your opinion on this please www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=352598&stamp=070708115322

I have never worked out how to say the name heaven backwards nevaeh??

Trust me i wouldnt be worried about the kids at school and names, they can make nay name cruel if they want to. I wanted a name that no one in my DD class will have, and no one does.

I still dont get the link between mis spelt names and chav?? where did that come from??

L

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/07/2007 12:01

Themild how was I nastier than others on here? I simply stated MY OPINION on a name... surely if others can then so can I? BTW what is a TUPID name? and you had the cheek to say I had a problem spelling roflmao

TaylorsMummy · 08/07/2007 12:02

i hope to god it's your hormones making you so un pleasant

Twiglett · 08/07/2007 12:03

I think people think chav is shorthand for stupid and common

spelling thing's wrong is patently rather stupid

ergo spelling names wrong = chav
