Hiya peeps,

DP and I have once again had a discussion over spelling of LO's name...when he gets here lol.

We have settled on Konor Michal, Konor is my way of spelling it but dp says if it being spelt with a K then we should spell it Konnor, I say Konor.

Michal he won't even attempt to judge me on as it was my dads name....pronounced Mehal it is Polish.

Which way would you choose? I prefer Konor and dp Konnor...

Have not read the thread..........

Konor or even Konnor remind me of a brand of soup.

And even if they didn't it is a perfectly ridiculous way of spelling a perfectly good name.

Twiglett · 07/07/2007 22:22

LOL at MMJ

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/07/2007 22:23

Project...well obviously if you are of a difference of opinion to the majority then you are likely to get a mumnetter kicking....shame really that some people can't see everyone is different.

I can't believe people feel so strongly about this (but you do know that Konnor will have to spell his name out at least 10000 times in his lifetime?)

Twinklemegan · 07/07/2007 22:25

Now now MMJ, it's not wrong, just a variation of the more common spelling

MamaMaiasaura · 07/07/2007 22:26

pregnancy spelt by a very tired fellow bump carrier.

MamaMaiasaura · 07/07/2007 22:26

you know what.. Why so bitchy tonight ladies.. too much wine??

MrsScavo · 07/07/2007 22:27

But Konnors Big Brother is called Karl. I think TLE knows what she's letting him in for.

SquirdleAKACandDsmummy · 07/07/2007 22:27

But Pollyanna so do I, it's just Rebekah and thats the correct spelling....not the variant

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 07/07/2007 22:28

Oh sod it in for a penny in for a pound.

It comes across as very chavvy to be qite honest.

Look at how "mad" we are............

No wine here Awen

Twiglett · 07/07/2007 22:29

my maiden name is always spelt erroneously with a 'C' when it starts with a 'K'

even when I spell it out on the phone I have to get people to read it back and 9 out of 10 times its spelt wrongly .. because people have in their heads that it sounds like it should be a C

it has been my entire life intensely irritating

I imagine your Konnor will have the same problems

TaylorsMummy · 07/07/2007 22:30

yes awen.my dd is Taylor.have seen it spelt Tayla but it looks wrong imo!!

sparklygothkat · 07/07/2007 22:30

have actually seen Connor slated on here as chavvy!!!

Twinklemegan · 07/07/2007 22:31

My name is a fairly well known name with the addition of an "n". You wouldn't believe how much trouble people have with that. The weird and wonderful variations I get, makes me larf or depending on what mood I'm in.

MamaMaiasaura · 07/07/2007 22:31

No excuse then is there Twinkle (btw that is what my niece's call their girl bits)

What names hatrick?? I went all traditional with ds1.. If we have another boy again very traditional names, but if a girl something a bit different.

People often spell my name Rebecca and have even had Rebeccah, Rebbeca, Rebecka the list is endless.

Twinklemegan · 07/07/2007 22:32

Now that IS bitchy Awen. I've been perfectly nice, I'm just giving my opinion. [Incidentally I've heard that once before just recently, am thinking about changing my name if it happens too often ]

TaylorsMummy · 07/07/2007 22:32

yes!! i just don't see the point in taking a common name and then changing one letter to make yourself 'different' it doesn't work.really, really, really

sparklygothkat · 07/07/2007 22:33

My surname is a common surname but can be spelt with a L in it, I always have to spell it out when on the phone, and still I get mail through with a L in my surname

sparklygothkat · 07/07/2007 22:35

also when we get hospital appointments through for DS, it will have Connor, Conor, or Conner on the letter, it drives me mad tbh. If you can live with it, then go for Konnor
