Hi @CowBrow and everyone, thought I would start a new thread since the old one has filled up and I can't find another! If there is one and I've missed it, let me know Smile how's everyone doing?

Thank you everyone. your messages mean a lot to me. I'm at the hospital now all gowned up and should be taken for my op around 4pm. It's been a tough 24 hours but I'm hoping things can only improve after today. X

faelavie · 19/03/2019 17:24

@kdd1980 I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, I hope your op goes OK and that you recover well.

Long time no speak, thought I’d pop back for some advice.

I had my booking appointment last Thursday and going off dates they said I was 9 weeks + 4. I had high protein in my urine so was prescribed a low dose of aspirin along with 5mg folic acid. However, they scared me a little bit talking about weight and protein etc .... so I booked a private scan for Friday just gone.

Heart rate was 177, very strong and everything looked fine. Was actually measuring 8+2 so new EDD is 23rd October (husband birthday lol).

However, Friday evening; following intercourse I began to bleed quite heavy. Gone 11 at night we called the emergency midwife number (to say she was on a night shift she was pretty jolly) and was advised this was normal. It stopped just over 24 hours later; filling a pad and a liner.

Is it actually normal or should I maybe look for another scan? I still have pregnancy symptoms but I understand these can continue either way.

Frizzy1986 · 20/03/2019 08:00

@Edhardy3127 I think some bleeding after intercourse can be quite common as the cervix swells with blood or something. It can get irritated when you have sex and then you bleed. I don't have any experience of this myself though, I feel way too nauseous all the time to have any interest in dh right now.
It's up to you whether you go for another scan. If you can afford it and it stops you worrying then I'd say go for it. Whatever takes the stress and anxiety away.
I have my 12 week scan on Friday and will be crossing my fingers as we had an early scan at 7+5 but it's been a while now and I'm also very aware that just because I still feel sick, have sore boobs and massive nipples, it doesn't necessarily mean everything is ok.

Frizzy1986 · 20/03/2019 13:29

So I've only been in my job since October. My senior left in December, it was all a bit pants as he handed his notice in 3 weeks after I started. Not quite what I hoped for when starting a new job.
Anyway, my new senior started at the end of Jan. She's lovely, seems clued up and feels like she wants to make positive changes to all the rubbish stuff that happens here as well as pass on her knowledge. Win.
Well she's just announced that she's expecting in September. It's come as a shock for her from what I can tell but I'm feeling really bad. My scan is Friday so I could be telling her my news on Monday and that's 2 of us in a small office. I guess I'm feeling guilty, plus I was hoping while I'd gone she'd kick ass and when I came back all the problems would be fixed.
I know I shouldn't feel bad. Id been there almost 3 months before we started ttc, I work hard, have made a good impression, but I genuinely do.

Kiko12 · 20/03/2019 13:32

@kdd1980 my whole heart is with you

oddsbobbins · 20/03/2019 14:48

Hi everyone, can I tentatively join you after a good scan today at 10+5? I had 3 miscarriages in 2018, two of which were MMC, and I feel like I’ve been cutting myself off from the idea that all the nausea, exhaustion and migraines could actually result in a baby. But today DH and I got to see it kicking and waving and the outline of its little face, and now I don’t really know what to do with myself. I’m starting to feel happy and excited, but it’s terrifying to let myself relax into that because I’ve been hurt before (though never had a pregnancy progress so far!).

I'm so sorry to everyone who's had losses, I've been there and it's so hard, really feeling for you. I hope you're getting the care and support you need.

fluffyunicorns86 · 20/03/2019 15:01

Hello everyone New to this site.
I am 11 weeks 5 days pregnant due 4th October. I suffered a late miscarriage at 18 weeks last year so very anxious this time round. had 2 early scans already for bleeding and pains but everything is fine have my 12 week scan on the 2nd april.

GinMama1 · 20/03/2019 15:02

@Kiko12 from memory pregnancy can cause moles to change. One of the ones on my tummy stretched last time. But it's always worth getting things checked.

Woolly17 · 20/03/2019 15:31

Anyone else starting to show? According to my best calculations I'm 12weeks and my belly is definitely bigger. My clothes are so uncomfortable around the middle but I've lent all my maternity clothes to a friend (she's due in May). I've actually had to go buy a pair of maternity trousers...

I think she's probably grown out of the smaller items by now. I think it will look a bit suspect if I ask for them now. Its not a massive issue to tell her (I think) but DH and I agreed not to tell anyone until after the scan (next week). DH is sure that the news will leak if anyone knows which means he can't do a grand announcement.

fluffyunicorns86 · 20/03/2019 16:06

Woolly17 I think I am starting 2 show aswell and I be 12 weeks on Friday. I have started buying really baggy tshirts and stuff to try and hide it for now as dont really want people to know before my 12 week scan either which I have on the 2nd april

@woolly17 I have been showing from around 8 weeks, and will be 12 weeks tomorrow. At first I thought it was just bloat but this bloat never went and this morning noticed how wide I am getting. I lost 10lb first 9 weeks of pregnancy and my waist was 1 inch bigger and stomach area 2 inches bigger I went and brought some bigger jeggings as didnt want to buy maternity clothes just yet but had to buy a pair 2 sizes bigger than my pre-pregnancy so they did not dig in. Thank god I have now let everyone know after a great scan Monday as no longer need to wear baggy clothes and can embrace my bump 😁

Woolly17 · 20/03/2019 17:08

Maternity jeans - they will be your friends for a few weeks after the birth.

Kiko12 · 20/03/2019 17:19

I'm living in leggings that are 2 sizes too big at the mo! Even got some ~fancy~ leggings with lace bottoms for smart occasions Grin Grin No real "bump", I'm just wider hahah.

Doop · 20/03/2019 17:50

@Woolly17 I think I look pregnant... but I reckon its bloating. I feel bloated. I cant get a midwife booking appt for the life of me to know exactly how far i am (started showing at 12 weeks last time). I was told id been referred by dr but heard nothing so rang up and they said i was definitely on her list. A week later still nothing so i self referred and was told the midwife would ring in 5 days...taht was last wednesday. I ffel like i. Making it all up! Anyway, i counted the days from the day i know i did the deed and it seems i am behind what i thought

Doop · 20/03/2019 17:52

Terrible typos... i have a headache too... does anyone know if i allowed paracetamol?

fluffyunicorns86 · 20/03/2019 17:54

@doop yes you can have paracetamol I have a lot of headaches and take them

Doop · 20/03/2019 17:58

@fluffyunicorns86 thank you!

givememarmite · 20/03/2019 18:02

I'm feeling so rotten today, can't shake this cold and now my throat is hurting as well. I need a bath and an early night tonight I think. Paracetamol is definitely ok to take, I'm considering taking some for my throat cos there's not much else that will help.

I also have day long nausea...no throwing up just this horrible queasy feeling. No matter what I eat I can't get rid of it and it's making me miserable! Anyone got any idea of anything that might help? I'm having to take iron supplements which probably aren't helping.

givememarmite · 20/03/2019 18:14

@Frizzy1986 what a coincidence that you are both pregnant! I can understand why you're feeling bad about it but you really shouldn't...at the end of the day it's only work and they will find cover and things will carry on. You can both do as much as possible to prepare and make it easier for whoever takes over.

I'm in an odd situation at work too. I've been on my own since my last colleague left in the summer and they still haven't recruited a replacement. They finally have someone in final talks who is great but can't start til much later in the year - probably 2 weeks before I will go on mat leave...so I'm going to have to really think about when to tell my boss and how long to take off. I can't realistically see how I will be able to go back when we have three kids, it's hard enough managing it all with two! But will need to keep my options open.

womaninkent · 20/03/2019 19:25

Glad it’s not just me. None of my clothes with a waistband fit anymore. I’m trying to hold off buying any maternity clothes until after my 12 week scan but this resulted in me spending the whole of Monday in a suit where the skirt will not do up. This meant I couldn’t take my jacket off even though it was sweltering. Roll on maternity wear!

womaninkent · 20/03/2019 19:33

Does anyone have any ideas about who does petite maternity wear? There is a thread on here from a few years back on the question and they suggest Next. Any other ideas welcome-i’m 5’ and worried that a lot of the maternity wear will swamp me.

Woolly17 · 20/03/2019 20:35

@Frizzy1986
It will be fine. I only started my role in December so this pregnancy is to say the least a bit badly timed. I have already told my boss because I know this is inconvenient and it might take a few months to sort out cover. Also in my own self interest I had a really hard time at work with my first pregnancy and wanted to be able to take any time off for appointments that I needed without having to take holiday etc.

Rememberallball · 20/03/2019 22:18

I’ve been in maternity jeggings (£10 pair form George @ Asda) since last week - I’m 12 weeks tomorrow - and am definitely looking pregnant already. I’m struggling to deal with it and keep telling DH I shouldn’t be this big already and should be trying to lose some of my belly not gain it!!
