I’m sorry Need, that really sucks. Can he be pursuaded?

fluffybunny86 · 26/02/2019 12:24

Hi all,

Wondered if anyone else had experianced this with thier GPs. Went in yesterday morning to make a routine appointment and was told I would have to wait 4 weeks before an appointment. By the time I get a feferal to the midwife I will (fingers crossed) be at least 10 weeks. Was thinking this was late for a booking appointment or am I wrong about that?

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 26/02/2019 12:28

That sounds late to me for an initial booking appointment. Do you have a local maternity assessment unit you could call to ask what the process is? Did you tell the receptionist that you don’t need a GP appointment you just need a booking in appointment with the midwife?

Needadoughnut · 26/02/2019 12:50

fluffy in my surgery you just let them know you're pregnant and automatically refer you to a midwife .

Gruffallo I don't think I can. I'm very high risk (hypothyroid, aneamic, over 35, and previous C-section) and had a CP before. But he thinks I'm just rushing things.

Thank you, I asked and apprently I have to see the GP first as that was what I was told by the midwife. Now have a GP appointment for friday so hopefully can have sort out a booking in appointment sooner.

Just really confused as no medical professional seems ready to speak to me about this and as we’ve told nobody, we cant ask for advice

Bluebell9 · 26/02/2019 13:18

@Fluffybunny I was told by my GP surgery to make an appointment for when I was 8-10 weeks too, to then be referred to the midwife.
I'd already booked an appointment online for Friday so I'm going to stick with that.

Miller2 · 26/02/2019 14:56

Back from my community midwife appt. Seems very surreal. She's scheduled me a booking in appointment for 29th March. Got leaflets about the tests and screening that will happen at that appointment, what I can and can't eat etc and got a general MOT. Got contact numbers to call if I have any concerns or if I need to see someone urgently if I get any spotting etc (better to be safe than sorry she said) and generally feel much more relaxed. Especially knowing what will happen at my booking in appt as some decisions on some of the optional screening tests have to be made on the day so she said to discuss those things first with my husband. She told me off for not wanting to get excited too. She said if it doesn't progress for whatever reason, not getting excited about it now wont make it any easier or harder so I may as well just get excited and hope for the best. All people can do is look after themselves as best as they can and wait and see.

HJWT · 26/02/2019 16:20

@Miller2 that is very true and good advice 😀

NotSoThinLizzy · 26/02/2019 16:59

Anyone else super clumsy? Tripped over my own feet and managed to cut my foot on a lock at the bottom of a door 😂

TheNightIsForever · 26/02/2019 17:17

Ouch @notsothinlizzy bet that hurt! And yes, I managed to shove a screw into my finger yesterday building bunkbeds

NotSoThinLizzy · 26/02/2019 18:22

Ouch to you too. Same clumsiness happened with my last pregnacy too tripped split my hand open and need paper stitches 😂

Miller2 · 26/02/2019 18:57

Nope I'm not clumsy, just doing stupid things. Like put the sellotape in the fridge. I think it's sleep deprivation.

HJWT · 26/02/2019 20:13

My symptoms today are a bit obvious... I'm either pregnant or had a sneaky little boob job 👀

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 26/02/2019 21:17

I’ve started having really bad cramping which makes me nervous 😟. Has anyone else had really bad cramping?

crystal92 · 26/02/2019 21:36

I have some cramping at night quite often @TheGruffalosLoveChild

Have you had it in previous days? I

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 26/02/2019 21:38

No. Well, not as badly as this. I also don’t remember this from previous pregnancies. Has your cramping gone?

piddlestix · 26/02/2019 21:48

@TheGruffalosLoveChild I don't remember cramping the first time. But my second pregnancy I had lots of cramping and I remember being really worried (but it was all fine!) and I'm getting it again now. I think it's just our uterus stretching and flexing and working hard. I think it's totally normal to be cramping in these early stages xx

crystal92 · 26/02/2019 21:48

It's lessened a lot, just the occasional twinge. I consulted Dr Google and it said some women do experience period like pain in the very early stages. However, if you're unsure you might be best asking a GP?

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 26/02/2019 21:50

Thank you both. I really appreciate your responses. I’m going to leave it for now as ultimately there’s nothing anyone can do, it’s just horrible not knowing what’s going on in there (I’m a total control freak!). Hopefully it will stop soon x

brighteye3986 · 27/02/2019 04:00

@TheGruffalosLoveChild I have been cramping for the last 2 weeks and only this week has that changed to twinges. I'm not sure if it's any different as I went through IVF and really thought I was out but got my BFP yesterday making me 4+2. I've just retested as today is my OTD and it's definitely a BFP. The cramping has eased now and now it's more twinges every now an again.

I would say if you're worried get yourself checked out. It might seem like you are worrying over small things but it will put your mind at ease.

I had horrible cramping in my first pregnancy this one nothing at all. I had a bit of incontinence yesterday. I was panicking it was my period coming but it was just wee. I've been extremely dizzy , yesterday just before falling asleep I could see everything move around me.

@Needadoughnut make sure you take it easy!

I've had nausea on and off since Sunday which is probably the only thing that made me think I'm pregnant. So since then I've always got some ginger nuts near by! I've been looking this morning and I might by some sickness bands in the hope that will ease it a little. Anyone else tried these and had success??

Needadoughnut · 27/02/2019 07:11

bright I've never used them but know of little boy who wears them when on long car journeys and they seem to work for him.
