Hello! I couldn't find a thread, so I'm starting one. I'm due on the 5th. My DPs 40th birthday!

Hi all. I'm apparently due on the 9th November. I found out last Sunday and I think I'm still in shock. This is our first and as much as we both said we want a baby l really really didn't think it would happen this quickly! Naturally I'm feeling completely unprepared and overwhelmed. Can I ask have any of you had your first GP appointment yet? If so, did they do a blood test or anything? The GP I saw earlier in the week was a locum and she just sped through the referral form for the hospital, checked my blood pressure and that was about it! She basically said if I'd had 3 positive tests back there was no need to do a blood test. Is that right?

LKRJM · 08/03/2019 17:27

Hi @Hayley I think it’s different in different areas but my doctor didn’t do bloods as I’d said my positives had got stronger over the week and she said the midwife would do it all for me and referred me to hospital. I’ve got to go and get my papers on Monday from the doctors and get my flu jab Tuesday. This is my first too so no idea what I’m doing and half rely on the wise mothers on MN in the group and follow along haha! Thanks everyone for the advice I booked in for the flu jab x

OhMarnie · 08/03/2019 17:37

@thumper59 that's great! I got 2-3 weeks a couple of days ago (I think I've worked out I'm 4+4 today, but I could be wrong, I still don't really know!) and will test again with a digi next week hoping for 3+! Any other crazy ladies still doing internet cheapies?? I know it's not good but I so wanted to see my line progression 😂 the line didn't get much darker for the first couple of days but then bam these are mine from yesterday and then today

@Hayley89 I know what you mean, obviously I know how babies are made and everything but I was still super shocked when it happened! 😂 I thought my doctor would do a test to check but she just said ok and booked me in with the midwife 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess it works differently everywhere

Needadoughnut · 08/03/2019 18:00

Do you know if we now get 3d scans for free? My sister who lives in Switzerland and my cousin who is in Spain both got them ..

LokiCat · 08/03/2019 18:08

@OhMarnie that line is so strong!! Looks great :) I went to go grab an internet cheapie today and realised I'm all out and got upset that I couldn't test anymore 😂
I got 1-2 weeks on a clearblue on Wednesday and a very strong line on another one, but might get another one to try (even though I told myself I wouldn't 🙈)

@Hayley89 congrats on your bfp!! I don't think I still completely believe that I'm pregnant 😂
My GP experience was the same as @OhMarnie. They put it on the system that I'm pregnant and then said that they can refer me or I can self refer - no tests at all.🤷🏽‍♀️ just waiting to hear back from the hospital now.

@thumper59 on my own tonight as well and debating what to make for dinner.. glad the tests have given you some reassurance :)

Hayley89 · 08/03/2019 18:10

Thanks @ohmarnie and @LKRJM that’s put my mind at rest SO much. Honestly I’ve been worrying since Tuesday whether they should have done a test and if I should call them. I’ve already decided I’m going to do another test tomorrow just to make sure the line is getting stronger (and to stop me overthinking)!!

BHeaton · 08/03/2019 18:28

Hello! Just a had a positive pregnancy test and turns out I'm due the beginning of November so hope you don't mind me joining this group to!

So excited but so bloated all the time & constantly needing to wee!

thumper59 · 08/03/2019 18:48

@OhMarnie yep I've been doing them every few days. I don't know when it'll sink in. I'm happy with the 3+ though!

@LokiCat my salad was rubbish debating going to Asda to get a pizza 😂I've 2 people coming to look at my car I'm selling tomorrow so hopefully that will go and it's one less thing for me to stress about! It's been quite the week I'm glad it's the weekend now

LokiCat · 08/03/2019 19:42

Haha @thumper59 I'd be the same - salads just don't it for me. Get the pizza, it's Friday!!
I made some spag bol so I'm happy 😬 so happy it's the weekend. Can't believe it's been a week since I found out!

thumper59 · 08/03/2019 19:52

@LokiCat do you think it's gone fast? 2 weeks tomorrow since I did and it's been the slowest 2 weeks ever 😂 I just want to tell people!

Miller2 · 08/03/2019 20:02

@thumper59 it's 2 weeks today since I found out and it feels like months!

thumper59 · 08/03/2019 20:09

@Miller2 it really does! I just want to tell people I feel like I'm being sheepish because I know I'm hiding something. I think it'll be a huge relief once we are telling people!

LokiCat · 08/03/2019 20:33

@thumper59 a bit of both 😂 I can't believe it's already been a week, yet counting down to the 8 week scan makes it seem like time is moving so slowly! I feel like I'm about to blurt it out when I'm at work or talking to friends.
We'll be on holiday for a week before the scan so hopefully that'll make time go faster!

TrashKitten10 · 08/03/2019 20:37

@LokiCat @Miller2 @thumper59 This has definitely been the longest week ever! 8 weeks still seems a LONG way away

Feelingsolow12345 · 08/03/2019 22:51

Hey all, i hope I can join in. I done a test an hour ago and this appeared. My friend says it's a huge positive and if that's the case and I'm going by the last day we dtd I'm 4 weeks and due 12th November.

Mysterycat23 · 09/03/2019 05:55

Hi all. Can I join? I got a bfp last night at 17 days overdue for AF. Line was faint but got stronger in a minute or two. I'm a bit concerned because the first 2 tests I did at about 7 days and then 10 days overdue came back negative at first, though when I went back to the bathroom I noticed the tiniest of faint lines. I thought it was a fault in the tests, just a late period due to stress at work.

This would be DC2. With DC1 I got a massively strong line at 2 days overdue and had lots of symptoms early on. This time I just have crampy feelings!!

Sorry to ramble on. I know pregnancies can be different but the faint line has worried me Sad

coldberries · 09/03/2019 07:45

Hi all. Can I join? Found out we were pregnant yesterday - my app estimates I'm 5wks 2 days and due date is 13 Nov :-) Grin

Needadoughnut · 09/03/2019 08:20

feelingsolo that's similar to mine at 10dpo. That was more than 2 weeks ago!

Congrats to all the new comers!! At almost six weeks I still have no symptoms apart from the horrible bloat!!

Morning ladies! Has anyone started feeling a bit queasy? Almost feels like a wave of nausea during a hangover! I'm not sure if it's too early to be morning sickness though ... I have a HUGE phobia of being sick so all I can think about at the moment is whether I'll get morning sickness!!

coldberries · 09/03/2019 08:39

@Hayley89 yup - woke up feeling like I’d been out drinking! Think I’ll make the most of my food this weekend as assume it’ll only get worse...

tigsyboo · 09/03/2019 08:56

Morning
@Feelingsolow12345 you've worked your dates out wrong hun
It's the date of the first day of your last period you use 👍🏼

I'm also relatively symptomless at the mo, got scan booked for next fri at epu when I will be 7+2

Zarara · 09/03/2019 09:17

I finally contacted my gp and they have booked me in for a telephone consultation at 7weeks then I’ll be referred to the midwife. I think I’m going to book an early scan, I’m so impatient for the 12 week scan.

How is everyone’s feeling about telling work etc. I’m a bit nervous as I’ve only been in my job 4 months so don’t know how they’ll react.

Laurajp23 · 09/03/2019 09:17

Feeling similar to you @Hayley89 ! It's been difficult feeling like this at work but not telling people!
I've also the added stress of coming off Citalopram (an anti anxiety med). As soon as I found out, I just wanted to be off it. Went to the Doc yesterday and she advised me how to do it, but the side effects of coming off are just adding to the nausea! 🤢

LokiCat · 09/03/2019 09:28

Morning all! I've got pretty sore boobs this morning, but otherwise not many other symptoms.. slightly queasy but it might cos I'm hungry 🙊
I spoke to my manager previously when I was doing tests etc and he was very understanding so I'm not too worried. Will probably mention it to him if everything is fine at the 8 week scan so it's not too difficult getting time off for appointments.
