Hello! I couldn't find a thread, so I'm starting one. I'm due on the 5th. My DPs 40th birthday!

@thumper59 thank you! I always knew I wanted another child but was thinking I'd probably wait till my son was nearing two to ttc again. But everything happens for a reason. An I'm defiantly up for the challenge of two under two.

With my last pregnancy I had to have an early scan at 6 weeks to confirm pregnancy so that I can be prescribed medication to take throughout. The same will be happening this time. So I'll be making that appointment tomorrow. I'm quite lucky to get a sneaky peek so early on. Fx everything's ok and where it should be.

LauraPalmersBodybag · 03/03/2019 22:32

Thanks @LokiCat I didn’t have an early scan when I was pregnant with my daughter, I didn’t really know how cheap or accessible they were. I did have a nail biting wait to the 12 week mark though and since then one of my best friends had a missed miscarriage...I know they’re unlikely but I’ve decided the £60 to have an early one is worth it.

A friend of a friend is an obstetrician and she said that if you can see a strong heartbeat and everything looks good at 8 weeks you’re in a pretty safe position, so I guess I’d just like to know.

Not feeling too many symptoms atm - some nausea and very sore boobs...my nipples feel like they’re on fire! But nothing all consuming, though I don’t think the big morning sickness kicked in till 6 or 7 weeks last time.

So nice to be able to go through this with people Smile

CCBloom1 · 04/03/2019 02:06

Hi ally62442 congratulations. My son is also 11 months. A year next Sunday 10th March.
I’m so excited about baby number 2 and excited that they will be close in age but it’s so daunting. How do people cope with 2 under 2 Shock

Ruthsoph · 04/03/2019 04:50

This waking at crazy times is killing me ! 😩 and by 8.30 in the evening I am so exhausted - does anyone's feel their ovaries are bruised? Mine feel slightly bruised and my boobs are so painful - on the plus side I looked at the in the mirror and they are now the size I always wanted them to be 🤣🤣🤣
Happy Mondays All x

Ruthsoph · 04/03/2019 05:11

Also is anyone going to have the Harmony prenatal test? I just wondered what others views on it was x

Lozboz22 · 04/03/2019 06:58

I think you only get offered the harmony if the result from nuchal screening is high. Only 5% of screening results come back as high. You can go private obviously for the test instead. I'm debating whether to have the nuchal or not, I didn't have it last time but I'm 38 now. Anyway got weeks to go before I need to decide.

LokiCat · 04/03/2019 07:28

@LauraPalmersBodybag thanks! I think I'll book one as well. We fly out on holiday at 6+2 so debating whether I book before or after we come back! 🤔

@Ruthsoph I know what you mean! I woke up at 3am last night and then been up between 6-6:30 all weekend, when normally I'd at least sleep till 8-9. Was hoping for a lie in over the weekend!! 🙈 My boobs feel really heavy and sore as well

So, did a FRER test this morning and a line showed up instantly but it's not darker than the one on Saturday. Anyone know if that's normal?
I'm finally going to call the GP when they open to get my appointment/referral. So excited!! (Even though I know the first appointment is just supposed to be medical history/bloods etc).

Shefliesonherownwings · 04/03/2019 07:28

Morning all. Despite falling asleep on the sofa last night at 8:30 I had the worst nights sleep. Kept waking up and feeling very anxious something will go wrong. Have doctors this morning so will mention my anxiety but I guess there is nothing to do except wait and see.

ale2992 · 04/03/2019 07:34

So I've started spotting this morning...

keepforgettingmyusername · 04/03/2019 07:42

Hello, mind if I join? Got my BFP this morning, an early one as I'm not due until 14th November so I'm not even 4 weeks yet.
I have recent history of mc before 8 weeks so it's possible I'll be dropping out but today I am pregnant!

Due November 2019
LokiCat · 04/03/2019 07:57

@ale2992 I've read that some spotting can be normal in the first trimester. Can you call GP/a midwife to check? Fingers crossed it's nothing bad 🤞🏽

@keepforgettingmyusername welcome and congratulations! Sorry about your past mc fingers crossed this one is a sticky 😊🤞🏽

@Shefliesonherownwings I hope the doctors appointment is useful x

I'm killing time in bed waiting for GP to open so I can call them. DH is just snoring away...

thumper59 · 04/03/2019 08:05

5 weeks today and feel like the morning sickness is starting to hit. I'm very nauseous and haven't made it out of bed yet. And I start work at 9!

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 04/03/2019 08:17

Ale - try not to worry if it’s just spotting. I think that is very common. If you get any heavier bleeding call the EPU/midwife. If it’s any consolation, I had bad bleeding with DC2 up to 16 weeks and everything was fine. Don’t lose hope Flowers.

Ruthsoph - I totally have the bruised ovaries feeling too. Not fun. Are you thinking of getting the Harmony test privately then?

2 under 2 isn’t too bad. Don’t let people scare you! Yes it can be tough, but it’s also really lovely having them close in age!

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 04/03/2019 08:20

I’m losing the plot. I thought I was 5+4 but it turns out I’m only 4+4 🤦🏻‍♀️

Prequelle · 04/03/2019 08:23

Oh no gruffalo how did that happen!

LatkeLover · 04/03/2019 08:38

Hello! Hope it's OK for me to join Smile Got these BFPs yesterday, am due DC2 on 4th Nov. Congrats everyone on your BFPs!

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 04/03/2019 08:45

prequelle - it happened because I am a total idiot Grin

Prequelle · 04/03/2019 08:47

Lmaoo! I'm actually a bit gutted for you! I wouldn't be happy

LG0914 · 04/03/2019 08:53

How long after handing in a self referral for the midwife do you usually hear something back?
And when are you all planning on telling people? If you haven't already. My boyfriend and best friend are the only ones who know at the moment, we want to tell our family after the first scan (if we can manage to keep it a secret that long) xx

LokiCat · 04/03/2019 09:19

@LG0914 I told my best friend as well (DH knows of course). I'm probably going to tell my mum + dad today when I go see them (I'm so close to them and can't hide anything from them!). Can't wait to see their reaction!
Everyone else we'll probably wait till 12 weeks.

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 04/03/2019 09:20

Thanks prequelle GrinGrinGrin.
It’s going to be a tough 8 months anyway, and now I have another week Grin

Shefliesonherownwings · 04/03/2019 09:29

Thanks @LokiCat, I had a teeny amount of brown blood when I wiped this morning. Hoping it's ok, but got extra nervous now. Will ask doctor when I see her.

Hope you got through to the GP ok!

Miller2 · 04/03/2019 09:39

Is anyone considering a private early scan? If so, are they normal ultrasounds or internal ones?

thumper59 · 04/03/2019 09:51

@Miller2 I'm having one at 8 weeks they said this will be ultrasound. 6-7 weeks I think it is usually internal as too small to see anything otherwise.

Anyone else feel like they've got the worlds worst hangover? 🤢🤢🤢

Miller2 · 04/03/2019 09:59

@thumper59 I did on Saturday. Took 2 paracetamol and stuck an ice pack on my head because the paracetamol did nothing (I usually take ibuprofen but not allowed now I'm pregnant). I'm prone to migraines too and since I can't take migraine medication, I'm just praying that I don't get one. They can be completely debilitating so not being able to do anything about it if I get one doesn't bear thinking about. I bought that forhead stuff the other day to try... not convinced...

I'm struggling with anxiety at the moment. I'm trying to push it to the back of my head because there is nothing I can do about this situation - either mother nature will decide it it meant to be or that it's not meant to be. Like my boobs didn't hurt as much on Friday so I worried. They hurt again now though but every little change has my mind in overdrive. I also keep thinking that worrying won't be doing the baby any good an then I worry a bit more. I just need to keep my mind busy on other things I think!!!! Please tell me I'm not alone with the anxiety stuff.
