Gender disappointment

So I’ve just had my 20 week scan and everything looks healthy. We did find out the sex of the baby but the sonographer said she wasn’t 100% certain and if we buy anything to keep the reciept. I had a feeling I was having a boy but deep down was desperately wanting a girl. After leaving the scan I cried, I obviously feel crap for feeling this way. I don’t know if it’s a mixture of disappointment and also still not knowing for certain. I also havent really got any boy names I like and I’m worried now I’ve felt like this I won’t connect with the baby. Has anyone ever felt like this? I know this seems like a trivial thing and there’s people who struggle to have children and we’re lucky but I just can’t shake the feeling.

I think it's disgusting how people on Mumsnet can't empathise or sympathise with ladies having certain feelings they don't completely understand themselves. We are meant to pick each other up on here not do the opposite.

I've had a miscarriage myself in August before this baby yet still talked myself into thinking my baby was 100% a girl in the first trimester. Like OP I will not be having another due to the extreme hyperemesis and SPD. Yes everyone's correct she will be over the moon whatever the gender is when he or she is here and aslong as they're healthy that's what matters however if this is her first like mine we need support from women that don't look there nose down at us or have to remind us how lucky we are to be pregnant. We already know that, especially me who's lost a baby. We probably already feel guilty for admitting the feelings we have when we know others around us aren't so lucky with pregnancy. It's a new journey for most women, and we should offer guidance not shitty remarks.
