@canonlyhopexo psychological or not, we're still suffering! Luckily I've not had nipple sensitivity (yet!), however walking down the stairs particularly is causing the girls to be quite painful!!

I know work can't discriminate against pregnant women but I work for NHS so I'm sure they'll find a loophole! Already acting up in my role so the payrise would be only fair and the bosses know that.

funnily enough, Just did some birthday wrapping for DH (selfish chap was born right close to Xmas!) it did help - but got upset when I ran out of presents to wrap!!

Thank god it's nearly Christmas Xmas Smile

QueenofFox · 11/12/2018 21:53

@Notanotherpawpatrol ha! I didn't get a proper booking appt second time around! I did think it odd. It was literally just a quick questionnaire a week before 12 wk scan, good to know that's not normal! It's all a bit topsy turvy this time with scan and blood tests arranged through hospital genetics team and I haven't even called GP yet. But I guess I should do that.

I'm so tired I feel like I can't think properly! Work is hard work at moment!

Notanotherpawpatrol · 11/12/2018 21:58

Queenoffox that's really not right. You need a proper booking in especially if it's the 2nd+ time around. You get to tell them all the important bits like if you hemmoraged, tore, if you or baby needed any extra care. It's really important and I'm actually quite angry you didn't get a proper booking in 😡
This is my 11th pregnancy (hopefully 5th live birth) and each time (when appropriate, some I've mc early) I've had a booking in. It's not right that you didn't get that.

CalmerComber · 11/12/2018 21:59

I emailed my old midwife today from DD to find out if she’s still community midwife for my area. I hope she is because she’s so nice.

I’ve also started eating a gestational diabetes diet because I had it with DD and am convinced I’ll have it again. Basically no sugar or processed carbs (aka no fun) but if I decide to go for a VBAC then it will be easier.

Work Christmas party is tomorrow afternoon! I’m going to lie about DH’s work and say I have to drive to get DD from nursery so no drinking.

Had a coffee with my work husband today and he raised his eyebrows sky high when I ordered a decaf so I think he’s sussed me out. Not told anyone else in real life but I’m busting to tell my sis esp as my due date is either her birthday or mine!

Notanotherpawpatrol · 11/12/2018 22:01

Tris completely and totally 100% normal. Symptoms come and go in the early stages. Even in the 2nd trimester and late stages too! Some days you'll wake up and only know your pregnant because you'll feel baby moving (plus the huge bump!) Other days you'll feel like death. All normal x

canonlyhopexo · 11/12/2018 22:03

@IrishCypriot are we souls sisters? I also work in NHS! I'm hoping my midwife app will put my mind at ease about things being psychological/definitely agreeing someone is growing in there! It's all so surreal. Oh no! I find wrapping so therapeutic so might do some tomorrow night I can be arsed!

IrishCypriot · 11/12/2018 22:13

@canonlyhopexo sounds like it! Now I just need to find out you are my neighbour and that will be the icing on the cake haha.
When is your midwife appt? Mine is next Tuesday! Was supposed to be today but DH away.

Present wrapping is my thing! I love it so much. Just found it so relaxing that I got upset when it was over.

Ps if you can't be arsed to wrap yours, send them to me I'll do it!

Cardi86 · 11/12/2018 22:42

Can I ask a question to all of you ladies who have babies already? Did you bring a crib in to your own bedroom for the new baby? Or did you sleep in a spare room with a crib? I’m trying to decide what’s best, don’t think it will be practical to keep DH up all night while I’m feeding when he has to get up for work!! I have literally no idea what I’m doing haha

KMic · 11/12/2018 22:43

@canonlyhopexo I'm ok anxiety wise ... not usually an a anxious person in general though. Obvs excited about it all, but had many friends go through it so just taking it in my stride. Being very prepared and realistic for the potentials of what may happen - good and bad - and just hoping for the best! How about you!?

KMic · 11/12/2018 22:47

Where is everyone at on what Apt's they are taking their partner to!? I was assuming he'll only come to the scans? Is it normal for them to come to MW Apt's too!? He is self employed so I don't want him taking unnecessary time off!? But also don't want him missing out!

Triskaidekaphilia · 11/12/2018 23:07

@Notanotherpawpatrol thank you, I knew it was probably nothing but wanted to hear it from someone else Smile and although the sickness is gone I have other symptoms still... hopefully it stays this way for a few days as this is my last week of work before christmas.

@KMic I think DH wants to come to all of them! He even came with me to the GP just to refer me to the midwife. Hopefully we can get most appts in the morning as he starts at 12, then he can take his 2 off work if theres any we can't avoid being later. But if you have to prioritise I think the scans are what most partners want to be there for?

avacadooo · 11/12/2018 23:09

@KMic Taking mine to the booking appointment because they apparently ask all sorts about family history and I struggle to even remember mine and we agreed scans and whatever after that he can get off.

Notanotherpawpatrol · 11/12/2018 23:18

The midwife will definitely want to see you on your own at some point. They'll want to ask DV questions and make sure everything is ok at home. The same with the health visitor once the baby is born, she will want to see you on your own :)

Triskaidekaphilia · 11/12/2018 23:46

@Notanotherpawpatrol Oh yeah, he'll totally understand if I have to be seen on my own a few times and I'll probably tell him not to bother with some of the more routine ones Grin

Notanotherpawpatrol · 12/12/2018 00:13

I just sent th out for a double cheese burger 😳 so hungry and it's literally all I want right now 🙈

Whoopsies · 12/12/2018 06:36

#KMic I remember dh coming to my booking appointment and scans last time but that was it. This time it will just be scans.

Symptoms definitly come and go for me, I think that's very normal in some women!

@cardi86 With ds he was in with us and my dh slept in the spare room on the nights before he had work! That worked well for us. Not sure what we'll do this time as we don't have a spare room!!

QueenofFox · 12/12/2018 06:46

@Notanotherpawpatrol I'll definitely be making sure it happens properly this time. You've really been through it, I'm sorry for your losses. Amazing to be having number 5.

We put the baby in with us for both of my older daughters then moved them out at 6 months. My DH does his share at night so it's easier if we're both there.

dragonmummy17 · 12/12/2018 06:53

@KMic last time DH came to 16w midwife appointment because I asked him, but none of the others. He was at the 12w and 20w scan, and the 37w growth scan, but I had lots of extra scans and he couldn't have come to all of them.
@cardi86 DS was in with us and DH coped. We coslept a lot of the time anyway so it wasn't too disruptive until he got bigger... I just latched him on and went back to sleep!

Does anyone know if stress can affect the baby? I've just started a very stressful new role at work... my stress levels are sky high!

AutumnFlowers · 12/12/2018 07:31

I've got my first midwife appointment this morning (almost 7wks) which I am ridiculously excited for. It's making everything seem very real and grown up all of a sudden!

Purplelion · 12/12/2018 07:33

Hi everyone, I found out yesterday that I am about 5 weeks pregnant. Due around the 14th August. We aren’t telling anyone yet.
How are people dealing with people noticing them not drinking over Christmas?! I feel like people might guess!

KMic · 12/12/2018 07:42

@Purplelion this is my biggest worry!! I was out on Saturday and ordered a white wine spritza and a glass of water at the same time. Every time I spoke to someone I held in to the glass of wine and made it look like I was drinking it, took a few sips here and there which would have done no harm. I am thinking for my works Christmas do I might just say I'm on anti biotics and can't drink! For another night out we have planned I think I'll just let hubs buy me diet cokes and make it loom like I have vodka in it or something!? So hard!! I don't want people to know but they are so likely to guess!!

Might tell my parents Christmas Day - will be 7+1 then

ScotsBaby2 · 12/12/2018 13:54

@cardi we had our baby in the snuzpod attaches to our bed until 6 months. DP was in the room with us. It wasn’t an issue in terms of noise as she was so quiet and would only wake me up.

ScotsBaby2 · 12/12/2018 14:01

@KMic my other half only came to the scans. He didn’t even come to the ante natal classes even though some partners did.

KMic · 12/12/2018 14:53

Had a couple of little twinges in my belly today ... anyone had anything like that?!

milly2000 · 12/12/2018 15:03

@KMic I was about to ask a similar thing.

I'm just over 5 weeks now and have been have subtle period like pain. And today it almost feels a bit like a stitch coming and going mainly of the left side. It's not unbearable or anything but I am aware of it. Anyone no if this is normal? I've read it might ligament stretching?
