@abw94 eat little and often. Have plain biscuits, crackers or other foods that help to hand. Some people find they wake in the night or morning feeling really sick so they like to take some food to bed to eat over night or in the morning.

ScotsBaby2 · 11/12/2018 15:47

@KMic yeah we wanted 2 very close together and then no more until they were both at school.

With my first I found mint helped morning sickness and to never have an empty tummy. Always be eating. Mine descended into HG and I ended up on all the drugs and off work.

EverythingNow · 11/12/2018 15:51

@scotsbaby2 there's 17m between my dc2 and 3 I loved having a small gap! There will be 8years between 3 and this one!

@ninunina hope you're ok

@louiseD2018 thinking of you xx

Belle2008 · 11/12/2018 15:56

Ah I've got a close gap aswell my DD is 8 months old! 😂 so will be like 17 months difference... wish me luck 🙈

abw94 · 11/12/2018 15:57

@Notanotherpawpatrol thank you I will try that. Mine is more during the day at work so just trying to drink water. I'll try the dry foods.

@ScotsBaby2 congratulations! I'm worried to get excited so early on. This is my first pregnancy and I know every person is different but I'm worried something is going to go wrong so I'm nervously waiting for my appointment. How quickly did you get your scan with your first? And did they book it there and then or did you have to wait for a letter to come in the post? I want an appointment so I know when I have to wait until! I'm very impatient Envy

EverythingNow · 11/12/2018 16:03

@belle2008 17m is a great gap because for about 6m my two would both have a long afternoon nap (didn't sleep at night sadly but still don't!) They're 7&9 now and still absolutely adore each other! Dd2 doesn't remember a time before dd3 so there's no jealousy.

Just make sure you write things down it was all a bit of a blur and I don't recall dv3 first steps!

Notanotherpawpatrol · 11/12/2018 16:07

@Abw94 every area does things slightly differently. But at the midwife booking in appointment they will go through your history, give you your pregnancy notes which you are meant to keep with you. They will take your blood pressure, urine sample (get used to it, everyone wants the wee of a pregnant lady! 😂) they may take bloods then, they will go through the schedule of how often you will see them, they will refer you to a consultant if your high risk and refer for an ultrasound. You'll get a letter for the ultrasound through the post.

Belle2008 · 11/12/2018 16:10

Ah thats lovely @everything now. It's good for them to have siblings there's 13 months between me and my sister and we are so close 💕

Notanotherpawpatrol · 11/12/2018 16:15

I have 14 months between 1&2, 2 years 3 months between 2&3, 2 years 11 months between 3&4.

This will be 2 years 3 months again. That was actually probably my favourite gap :)

abw94 · 11/12/2018 16:31

@Notanotherpawpatrol thank you! That's really helpful. How was your first pregnancy?

Whoopsies · 11/12/2018 16:44

We have waited a while for this baby so I will have a nearly 6 year age gap between ds and this one!! But I'm sure it will all work out and I will have the good side of one very independent child who is at school most of the time!!

EverythingNow · 11/12/2018 16:55

@whoopsies there's 9 years between dc1 and 2 (and they'll be an 8yr gap this timw) bonuses are again less jealousy because you can reason with them, they can be helpful and you get 6hrs 1-1 time with baby while the bigger ones at school.

Notanotherpawpatrol · 11/12/2018 16:58

Abw, I don't really like talking about my pregnancies, for me pregnancy is a means to an end and not a glorious glowy time of happiness and excitement. I have very difficult high risk pregnancies. I don't want to scare you or anyone else by talking too much about it, but I will if and when anyone needs any reassurance 😉

avacadooo · 11/12/2018 18:14

How is everyone coping with work? I work in care with one service user and do sleepover shifts then day shifts so 23hours in one go and I'm proper struggling.
Asked my boss to reduce my hours but she can't cause everyone's on holiday in January and I honestly feel like crying cause I thought I could struggle through to January but instead it'll just be the same. I currently can't cope.
Can't even get a midwife appointment until middle of January cause they're so busy here but booked an early scan for 5th jan.
I feel so stressed cause work is really difficult and I'm scared I'll lose it because of work.

UnicornDust17 · 11/12/2018 18:24

Oh @LouiseD2018 I'm so sorry to hear that. Thinking of you xx
Fingers crossed for you @Ninunina Flowers

Dotty356 · 11/12/2018 19:05

Hello!

Finally found a group! I hope it's ok to join. I think I'll be five weeks on Friday! So due sometime in August. Need people to confide it as I can't tell anyone else right now. Just have concerns something might go wrong.

I'm sorry to hear some of you are having a tough time. I have experienced spotting myself but seems to have stopped now thankfully.

Has anyone told friends and family yet?

abw94 · 11/12/2018 19:21

@Dotty356 Hey! Congrats 😃 is this your first?

Not told family or friends yet we want to wait till our 12 weeks scan so how we will get through Christmas and NYE I have no idea!

abw94 · 11/12/2018 19:44

So how did everyone tell there partners? I've downloaded so many apps and seen a few articles on 'fun ways to tell your partner' maybe it's just my OH but if I didn't tell him straight away he wouldn't be very happy!

avacadooo · 11/12/2018 19:47

@abw94 I went through and woke him up with it, never seen him wake up so fast in his life 😂

Dotty356 · 11/12/2018 19:50

Hi @abw94

Thanks Smile. This will be my second although my ds is now 11! So quite an age gap between them! I was super sick with my first so it put me off until now! Feel like I'm starting all over again lol. Forgotten everything from last time.

I had to tell my dh straight away. Prob should of thought of a more exciting way... I won't be telling anyone else yet though! Unless I start feeling poorly again! Fingers crossed It won't be as bad as last time.

Is this your first? Sorry, I haven't gone back through all the posts yet. Xx

CautiousOptimist · 11/12/2018 20:06

LouiseD2018 I’m so sorry to hear this Flowers

abw94 · 11/12/2018 20:08

@avacadooo glad it's not me who didn't have the movie like show and tell!

@Dotty356 Well congrats on your second! 😆 hopefully you won't be as sick this time! I was the same. I was on day two of missed period and had to do it when I got home so the second line was very faint, it was a long night waiting to do another in the morning lol.

Yes this (fingers crossed) will be my first and first pregnancy so super nervous. Thank god I've found this forum its made me feel so much more relaxed about my symptoms. I'm day 2 at work and I just want to tell someone but I also love having myself and partners little secret. Hoping not to say a word till 12 week scan but on Saturday when we properly confirmed the two lines I was asked about 3 times if I was pregnant as I'm on antibiotics for a UTI... god help me for the next 6-10 weeks!

dragonmummy17 · 11/12/2018 20:11

@Ninunina hope all is ok on Thursday
So sorry to hear that @LouiseD2018
@avacadooo they have to make reasonable adjustments by law. Could your GP help if you haven't got a midwife yet?

Dotty356 · 11/12/2018 20:20

@abw94 aww congrats on your first! I'm having to do all I can to stop DH telling his family.

I was looking for a group just like this! Everyone needs the support when you can't shout your symptoms and feelings from the roof top just yet. I spilt my lunch in my office and I actually thought It was super strong smell all day... no one else could smell it. It's hard not to give anything away x

avacadooo · 11/12/2018 20:25

@dragonmummy17 I've got a doctors appointment for next week that was as soon as I could get one but will they do anything? It's so difficult being at work for 23 hours when all I want to do is sleep.

Does anyone know if I'm safe to lift a Christmas tree by myself? Got a feeling I'm gonna have to do it for work..
