Good evening all,

Just catching up - congratulations to those who have just joined and welcome!

@Kileah18 - I know how you feel! TMI alert - even my one sore boob has gone. No symptoms now whatsoever! Anyone else experiencing this? My skin broke out like mad but then I managed to fix it by using apple cider vinegar and witch hazel (best things ever!). According to my app I'm 5 or 5+1 today.

@Sullywifey - sorry you're being so sick. I read the only thing that you can take is ginger tablets - have you tried them? I don't have an appointment either if it's any consolation, I have to wait until my GP appointment (two weeks from now) and then I'll be referred then.

SullyWifey · 05/12/2018 21:03

@Bakingabean I know I will be awful I just know. God help DH 😂

Ladies I'm really stressing about my work do. It's next week. I work for a small company and my boss is the most difficult person with some things. if I'm not drinking he will make a big deal of it and jump to the fact I'm pregnant and I just can't handle that yet. And he is going to be awful when I tell him anyways. I quote him on my first day on the job "we have never hired a woman of child bearing age before because it's not good for business when they get pregnant"

Now I hear you say why work for him, that's illegal etc. I know!! At the time I was desperate for a job so just took it and cracked on with my wedding planning. Since then I have pretty much become his right hand man and I'm on a ridiculously good salary for what I do. He's since hinted at me getting pregnant and how annoying that will be. It came to head in few months ago when I just couldn't handle his comments and I burst into tears and said I don't want to hear it anymore. He's since not said a word. But I know it will be bought up at the do. (Plus they all know how much a love a glass of wine so shall be out of character)

Iv gone through loads of elaborate things of what I should do to cover it up. But Iv finally settled on "DH and I had takeaway last night and it was dodgey, so I'm taking it easy tonight"

Boss will be the one ordering and buying all drinks so I can't even go covert. It's a sit down meal as well and he will get wine for the table.

What you all think? Sorry for essay. xxxx

Ninunina · 05/12/2018 21:10

That's good to hear that lifting won't cause any actual harm to the baby. Thanks for the reassurance.

With regards to smear tests, I was wondering the same thing. I had a smear a month ago and the results showed inflamed cells (not as a result from infection). I'm supposed to repeat the smear in 6 months. I'll ask my gynecologist at my visit.

XingXingFox · 05/12/2018 21:14

Hello everyone

Can I join? Just found out I'm expecting my thurs baby in 10 August. Am very excited!

Can't believe there's already so many on here! Congratulations to you all.

I have two daughters aged 6 and nearly 3. I'm getting the harmony test on the nhs because of genetics conditions that run in my family. Someone was asking about them, you can have them from 9 weeks. I'm 4+5 now so will hopefully have one the week after Christmas. Will be feeling very nervous until that's over with. Just hoping all is okay!

CalmerComber · 05/12/2018 21:46

Congratulations newbies!

I’m nervous about Christmas party too! Think I’m going to drive and make up something about having to get DD from nursery because DH is away.

More concerning is that we’re hosting a Christmas Cheese party for friends the week before Christmas and I can’t say I’m driving because it’s at my house! Also will be extremely dodge if I’m not eating all the delicious oozing cheese.

Bakingabean · 05/12/2018 21:47

@sullywifey steal my excuse of blood thinners?! Say you're on them for "lady problems" and most men won't ask any more questions! (Especially ones that sound like your boss!).

I can drink in moderation on mine but I've pretended that for me they don't mix well!

Congrats @xingxingfox !

Kileah18 · 05/12/2018 21:54

@sullywifey I had a work thing last week & told them I was on antibiotics so couldn’t drink! Worked well!

Just want the next few weeks to hurry up they are going soooo slow 😩

Crossfitgirl · 05/12/2018 22:19

@sullywifey in all honesty, I would just feign illness on the day and miss it completely. Or come up with another good excuse not to go - got home and the kitchens flooded... DH has had to go to A+E... family member unwell.... car broken down etc.
I'd just avoid the whole situation. Far easier than dealing with questions or putting you on the spot or pressuring you into drinking and making you anxious/ uncomfortable or even worse, outing you!

For my meal with the girls in a couple of weeks I thought about having a word with the waiters and getting them to bring me alcoholic drinks but just not put the alcohol in... like a tonic in a gin glass with berries in etc... but I wouldn't trust them enough.

I don't drink much anyway so it's not a big deal for me but it's made me anxious just thinking about the situation you've described! Do you definitely want to go? And if so... is it worth the hassle? Xx

Crossfitgirl · 05/12/2018 22:24

@calmercomber we are having friends round at new year and I plan to make all my own "gins" by just pouring myself tonics and pretending to put gin in, or even fill an empty gin bottle with water If I'm desperate enough to be seen to be pouring it!

There's lots of cheeses you can eat though so just get cheeses that are safe, and if you get any that arent just don't eat those ones.
You can have soft cheeses with the rind on like camembert if they are cooked, so get a nice camembert in the oven, some dipping bread and a selection of fancy hard cheeses. Be reet!

Crossfitgirl · 05/12/2018 22:26

@fae1989 all my symptoms have gone / resided except for my sore nipples now. The cramping has totally stopped, I'm sleeping fine, and no headaches.

🤷‍♀️

Crossfitgirl · 05/12/2018 22:29

@Albean I don't feel pregnant at all really! Had to do another test this morning to check! Lol

@moonchild23 mine will be due in December too, hadn't even thought about it tbh! I'll ask the midwife when I go after Christmas I think x

Cardi86 · 05/12/2018 23:20

@AIBeans I know what you mean about getting more attached after the scan... I think a loss would probably be worse if you had a picture. I hadn’t really thought about that! I’m still going to go ahead I think, my birthday is the 16th and I have the scan on the 17th! Are you going to tell anyone apart from OH? We’re still debating about telling family on Christmas Day... I think they’ll probably notice though!

Cardi86 · 05/12/2018 23:22

@calmercomber I’m planning the same gin trick next weekend! I think my beady-eyed friends will be on to be though as we were TTC for over a year

QueenofFox · 06/12/2018 06:57

@Bakingabean this is xingxing under my old name. Thanks for the welcome 😊
This time of year is so hard with Christmas parties. I had to tell one friend because she'd make such a big deal of not me not drinking and we had a few big nights planned in. I think I can get away with work because I only started three weeks ago (whoops. Dreading that conversation!).

AIBeans · 06/12/2018 07:08

@cardi86 I think I’m going to Book one 😊 going to wait until I get to 6 weeks then book an 8 week one on 30th.
I’m seeing my best friends in a couple of weeks and I REALLY want to tell them but DH doesn’t want me to yet. We were going to start IVF in January so this makes it so excited that it happened but most our friends & family knew this too!
@crossfitgirl I’ve taken 3 types of brand tests lol got 2 more in the drawer lol

Woken up today feeling very dizzy and shortness of breath!

Have a good day everyone xx

mrsof20118 · 06/12/2018 07:13

For those worried about drinking, I ended up telling my boss and closest work friend. I've had quite a few appointments already in work time for bloods etc so thought it was best than having to lie. They've also got my back for the works Christmas meal for sneaking a non alcoholic bottle of prosecco in to make it look less obvious.

Got my early scan this morning at epu nervous but excited too.

Whoopsies · 06/12/2018 07:30

The drinking thing isn't too bad for me, I don't really drink much and I don't have any Christmas nights out etc. I went for dinner with my best friend last night so told her, but I would have done anyway. Will tell my mum and sis when I go to stay at home over new year, they will know for sure! DH's mum text me yesterday asking if I would be happy with pate as a starter in Xmas day. It made me laugh out loud, the coincidence of it! I just said yes!! 😂

EverythingNow · 06/12/2018 08:09

Morning everyone. I had a horrible night, I woke with quite painful cramps in the middle of the night And I still feel sick (threw up brushing my teeth) and cramps this morning. I'm wondering whether to get an earlier drs appointment in case it's a uti or something. I've had cramping in previous pregnancies but not as bad as last night. I know cramping is normal and equally if it's a bad sign there's nothing a drcould do anyway.

SullyWifey · 06/12/2018 08:11

Morning all. And thanks for all your work do tips. I'm probably over thinking it making it way more complicated than it needs to be. I guess if that's what they want to think it's technically true and they will find out end of January anyway!

@Crossfitgirl I have totes with totally not going and that is still on the cards. I'm going to see how I feel on the day and wing it. It's not worth me loosing sleep over it really!

Have a great day everyone. If yesterday's sickness was anything to go by I'm in for a treat at a bloody conference today. Wish me luck!

Xxx

sunshine1987 · 06/12/2018 08:40

@mrsof20118 hope everything goes well today xx

@sullywifey I think we completely overthink it because we’re hiding something but they probably won’t even care/notice. I told my girls I was on pills to boost my progesterone (they knew it was low when tested), they didn’t even bat an eyelid, just made me drive lol. I was freaking out and the whole thing wasn’t an issue. I wouldn’t miss out on the fun. Hope everything is alright today xx

@crossfitgirl 🙋🏻‍♀️ Still not feeling pregnant over here too, feel like we’ll regret meaning about it lol

@everythingnow I hope it eases up for you today, maybe try and take it easier if you can, give yourself a rest x

mightypinkdms · 06/12/2018 09:19

Hi all 😁 may I join the August cohort? Am pregnant with my third, positive test this morning, a few days before period - yay!! Have a bit of an issue, my whole family are together on Christmas Day at my parents, and we always have homemade pate as a starter 🙈🙈 any ideas on how to avoid eating it without suspicion? My whole family are massive fans of this - it’s a Christmas treat we all look forward to - and at the moment am drawing a blank when it comes to making an excuse...

sunshine1987 · 06/12/2018 09:24

@mightypinkdms congratulations and welcome! I would fake a sickness bug a few days before and then on Christmas Day day you might avoid as it’s a bit rich and wanna take it easy. That would avoid the drinking too but just not be able to pig out either on all the other yumminess lol x

milly2000 · 06/12/2018 10:52

Hi all,

I've just been catching up on all these post!!

Congratulations to everyone who has joined.

I have a 6 week scan booked for the 18th I feel excited and nervous all at once. @Fae1989 @Crossfitgirl my symptoms seem to be calming down, I have had a spot break out and if I'm honest I'm a right moody cow! Just hoping everything's okay, thinking the worst is my speciality at the moment.

I've already spoken to my boss, I have a fair few appointments coming up and I new he would be wondering what's going on. We do have a Christmas party coming up but I'm just going to say I'm on antibiotics or something, if they do think I'm pregnant they won't say it, plus there all men so I very much doubt they will notice.

Brownzy · 06/12/2018 11:46

Hello all

I very randomly did a pregnancy test last night as I was due my period yesterday....and I'm pregnant

Not entirely unexpected as we had just stopped trying to not get pregnant but didn't have sex around my ovulation as I wanted to wait till after the new year

Ah well! Sometimes babies are dying to get here!

No symptoms yet - from my period dates I'm due the 12th of August Grin

mrsof20118 · 06/12/2018 12:49

Scan went well. They could see a little heartbeat flickering!
