Bit late to the thread, but I just found out I’m pregnant with my first! Exciting but nervous times, due around 15th August!

stylix1981 · 05/12/2018 14:14

Good luck to all fingers crossed for everyone.

Been to gp this morning and feel little less sressed now as they contacted EPAU and they have booked me in for a scan next wed to check things ok.

sunshine1987 · 05/12/2018 15:33

For those that self referred, how long did it take to get a booking in appointment? I’m still waiting for the midwife to call me back to arrange it, not sure whether to chase or not. What week is it meant to happen? x

clairelee17 · 05/12/2018 15:55

Hi @sunshine1987, I think it's around the 8-9 week mark and then they book you in 2-3 weeks after that for your 12 week scan. I know my booking in appoitment happened on exactly the 9 week mark last time xx

sunshine1987 · 05/12/2018 16:00

Ah brill, thanks @clairlee17, that’s good to know. Got a few weeks then x

Belle2008 · 05/12/2018 16:04

Hey ladies can I join please?

Due around 15th August got an early strong positive yesterday so very early days xxx

Triskaidekaphilia · 05/12/2018 16:15

I've been lurking because I wasn't sure whether to join July or August, my DD is 30th July based on LMP, but GP wrote down 1st August and I've always been told first babies are often late so think an August baby is more likely. 6+1 today and I've already had morning sickness since Monday, but I think the key for me is eating a couple of crackers when I get even the tiniest hunger pang which is usually about every 20 minutes! I'm used to 3 meals a day with 5 hours gap in between so its difficult to make such a big change. I'm going to tell the 3 people I work with most closely tomorrow so they understand why I need to constantly snack. We've got a private scan booked on 8+2 which is the Thursday before Christmas, so if all goes well, we're hoping to tell my DPs on Christmas day and his when we next see them which will hopefully be a few days later.

Bakingabean · 05/12/2018 16:45

Hi @sunshine1987 I self referred last Tuesday and got a call today from the hospital. They’ve booked me in for Saturday when I’ll be 6+3 I think. Was surprised it was so quick! Haven’t even seen the gp yet as they didn’t have an appointment for 3 weeks!

Congrats @belle2008 and @triskaidekaphilia !!

AIBeans · 05/12/2018 17:18

Hi everyone!
Hoping I can join. 4+3 weeks pregnant with our first after 2.5 years of trying so extremely excited but anxious too. Think DD is around 11th aug. Rang the doctors and they just pass your details onto the midwife so I’m expecting a call around 8 weeks...very sereal! What do people think about an early scan?! Toying with the idea but not sure. Congrats to everyone xx

Cardi86 · 05/12/2018 17:23

Congratulations to all the new BFs, welcome to the group! @AIBeans I’m booked in for an early scan for when I’m 7 weeks, I was on Clomid so they give early scans. I think even if I wasn’t I would still go for a private one, I’m very inpatient! Are you thinking of going for one?

Cardi86 · 05/12/2018 17:25

@Chocolate89 I also feel like this week is crawling, can’t wait to reach 6 weeks! Have you decided what your going to do at the Christmas parties? I have a wedding on Saturday so I think I’ll order tonic waters and pretend it’s gin! Hopefully no one buys shots eek!

AIBeans · 05/12/2018 17:37

@cardi86 I’m really tempted to go for a 8 week scan 30th Dec. OH is more than happy we book one. I just think 12 weeks seems ages away to see something!! But then I worry getting too attached and something happening Confused

I constantly keep thinking it’s so sereal as I just don’t feel any different, other than cramps!

I have my work Xmas party on Friday!! Then family round all Christmas and a wedding NYE!

So great to talk to everyone in same situation xx

Crossfitgirl · 05/12/2018 18:12

Welcome to all the newbies today! Wow lots of people due in August!
@Albeans I am also 4+3 today! DD is also the 11th August :-) and it's my first too! Xx

Ninunina · 05/12/2018 19:10

Welcome to all the newbies!

Does anyone know what the advice is on lifting in early pregnancy. I got roped into something at work and did lots of heavy lifting. I couldn't say anything because I've only just joined this company and I don't want anyone to know I'm expecting for as long as possible.

Now this evening I had to lift DD2 (19kg) and now I'm feeling quite crampy and I'm worried I did some damage. I hope I didn't!

AIBeans · 05/12/2018 19:16

@crossfitgirl yay how exciting!! How are you feeling? I have cramps and boobs every now and then but nothing major!

@ninunina I read an article today about lifting and being pregnant and apparently it’s an old wives tale that lifting causes the baby harm it’s more likely to cause you aches and pains as your muscles are relaxing. Hope that helps? I’m no expert though Hmm

UnicornDust17 · 05/12/2018 19:23

Oh that's good @stylix1981

Congrats @Belle2008 @Triskaidekaphilia @AIBeans and welcome

I'm with you there @Cardi86, this week is also taking forever. I have Drs appt on Fri. I've not gone to my Christmas parties, but had good excuses not to go, so no issues so far.

Kileah18 · 05/12/2018 19:44

Just catching up! Welcome to all the newbies & congratulations ❤️

@ninunina I also read it was a lot of rubbish so don’t worry!

I think I’m gonna get another digital tomorrow as I don’t really “feel pregnant” I don’t have sore boobs or anything just my skin is spotty & feel nauseous every so often but nothing major at all!

dragonmummy17 · 05/12/2018 20:05

Hello to all the new people and congratulations on your BFPs
@Ninunina I think the lifting rule is more to protect you than the baby as due to the relaxin you are at more risk of injury

Moonchild23 · 05/12/2018 20:12

I’m supposed to have my smear next week, wonder what all your thoughts are about pushing it back until after baby’s born? I’ve previously had abnormal cells which I had the treatment for and following that my smear was normal. That was 3 years ago.
NHS website says if all smears have been normal they’ll push it back otherwise they’ll recommend it goes ahead.
I get the importance of keeping up with smears just not sure how I feel about them poking around on my cervix? Also if they found abnormal cells what would they be able to do for now anyway?

sunshine1987 · 05/12/2018 20:21

@moonchild23 I’ve got one booked in for next week. I’m going to ring up and cancel it and have it after babies born. I’ve never had abnormal results though, I know they advise against if it normally normal as cells change a lot during pregnancy x

sunshine1987 · 05/12/2018 20:23

@bakingabean wow that was quick, fingers crossed I get a call soon! Glad it’s all moving swiftly for you. I’ve not spoken to my GP, they don’t want to see me lol x

SullyWifey · 05/12/2018 20:25

Evening all and welcome :) August is a busy month!

It only dawned on me today that we going to be giving birth in the height of summer! Haha

I'm really jealous of all of you not being sick. Iv not kept anything down today. It's really starting to get me down already. Trying to get on with it but it's bloody hard.

My midwife doesn't get in touch with me until I'm 10 weeks, wish I all had appointments like you girls :( GP doesn't even see you! Long bloody waiting game. Roll on 30th for my scan xx

@Moonchild23 I had abnormal cells from my first smear and had treatment for them so I understand why you would be worried. But personally I would push it back till after xxx

Moonchild23 · 05/12/2018 20:33

@sullywifey @sunshine1987 my guts telling me to push back too and because my last smear was fine I’m sure it’ll be ok.

Lol sulleywifey I had the same thought, imagine if we have a summer like this year and we’re gonna be heavily pregnant 🥵 haha

Bakingabean · 05/12/2018 20:42

@sunshine1987 I wonder if it was quick because I'm 35? And or currently injured and on blood thinners? (Fragmin which is also prescribed in pregnancy though so not worried about it)

It's the same hospital where I've had my injury treated and that department were so bad I had to call PALS so maybe they just don't want me complaining again?!

And @sullywifey I really hope we don't have another summer like this year! I don't think I could cope heavily pregnant!

EverythingNow · 05/12/2018 20:43

@sullywife I'm not actually vomiting but I feel sick a lot of the time.
