Aww that's great mrsof20118 so lovely to see isn't it. I think i will book a scan for 8 weeks xx

clairelee17 · 06/12/2018 13:34

Hi @mrsof20118, how many weeks are you? What a great feeling!

QueenofFox · 06/12/2018 14:21

@mrsof20118 what wonderful news!

I've just self referred for a scan following advice from my doctor as I need accurate dates for the nhs harmony test. Hope I get a date soon, starting to feel very nervous all of a sudden so lovely to read your news.

QueenofFox · 06/12/2018 14:23

@mightypinkdms exciting! This is also my third. How old are your other two? Really looking forward to being able to tell them!

MrsH1990 · 06/12/2018 15:38

Need a bit of advice guys ....

Told my boss that I was pregnant... she didn't seem very happy about it.
I've got a midwife app on Monday at 2.30 but they want me to have an early reassurance scan because of my previous history with MC. But that app is on Thursday as I'll be 6_+2 and she said they should see a heartbeat then..
But the scan is at 3pm...
I work 8.30-4pm Monday to Friday.
How am I best getting round two apps in the one week...
If I tell her it's a scan she'll just tell me to rearrange it xx
Any advice welcome 🙏🏻 xx

clairelee17 · 06/12/2018 15:56

Hi @MrsH1990 by law, your boss/employer HAS to permit you leave for any maternity/ante-natal appointments without any question.

Do you have a HR or Maternity Leave policy at the company you work for? If so, read it. They cannot tell you to rearrange it at all, it's equality policy.

Whoopsies · 06/12/2018 15:57

@MrsH1990 your boss will just have to suck it up! You are legally entitled to time of for antenatal appointments and there isn't anything she can do about. This is a good website if you want to be sure of your rights

www.maternityaction.org.uk/advice-2/mums-dads-scenarios/pregnant/time-off-for-antenatal-care/

But honestly she can't make you rearrange!

clairelee17 · 06/12/2018 15:57

FYI @MrsH1990, my policy states:
If you are pregnant, you are entitled to take reasonable time off during your normal working hours to receive ante-natal care on the advice of a registered medical practitioner, registered midwife or registered nurse. Ante-natal care includes appointments with your GP, midwife, hospital clinics and relaxation classes.

MrsH1990 · 06/12/2018 16:43

@clairelee17 @Whoopsies
Thanks guys!!
It's just so annoying as in our little branch it's just me and her and she can be a funny cow at times! 😩🙈
Just be awkward and a pain to appointments in the one week xxx
I'll have to have a look at the "employee handbook" xxx

clairelee17 · 06/12/2018 16:51

@MrsH1990 - like @Whoopsies said, she'll have to suck it up. She can't do absolutely anything about it - let her be a 'funny cow' all she wants! If she says anything or tries to make you rearrange, she's breaking the law! Make sure you tell her that! :)

mightypinkdms · 06/12/2018 16:55

@QueenofFox mine have just turned 3 and 6 😁 what about yours?

Ninunina · 06/12/2018 17:31

@MrsH1990 she will just have to suck it up and accept it. It's the law. Best of luck for your scan on Monday.

I've brought my first scan/appointment forward to the Thursday before Christmas. The doctor likes to see people at 8weeks. I'll be 7weeks 6 days, so one day early, but is much rather have a pre-Xmas appointment. I'm hoping to surprise my family.

I need some advice on how to tell my sister. She just turned 40 in November and was hoping for a BFP. They've been trying for 6 months and she is going to discuss fertility treatment at her next appointment (unless she gets an Xmas BFP).

MrsH1990 · 06/12/2018 18:28

Thanks girls!
Now my husband is saying he's got a meeting in work and can't rearrange so gonna have to change it 😩 don't want to be going first scan without him! Need to find right number for the scan place in the women's the number I originally got was for the emergency room and don't want be ringing that again! Xxx

dragonmummy17 · 06/12/2018 19:26

@mrsof20118 thats great about your scan
@EverythingNow I hope your feeling better tonight
I've had a really stressful and busy day. I've just started a new role in a new workplace (same employer) they aren't going to be happy I'm pregnant so I don't want to tell them yet. I'm hoping the sickness stays away!

mustremembertofeedthecat · 06/12/2018 20:05

Can I joIn you all?

Took a test yesterday and got a BFP think my due date is 12th August. Second baby for me.

Congratulations to everyone else on the thread.

Cardi86 · 06/12/2018 20:44

@mrsof20118 OMG that’s so exciting! I can’t wait for mine on the 17th, hopefully all is well!
Congrats and welcome to all the newcomers!
@AIBeans we were meant to start IVF in the new year too! Did you have any fertility drugs? I got pregnant after 6 months of them, so relieved and still in shock! A few of my friends know we’ve been trying as well, I’m fairly sure some of them have caught on already!

QueenofFox · 06/12/2018 21:28

@mightypinkdms almost the same! Eldest was 6 last month and youngest will be 3 in Feb. It's a great age gap 😀

Moonchild23 · 06/12/2018 21:58

@ninunina I’d tell her separately before anyone else and maybe over the phone to give her the time to process it. If it isn’t face to face she doesn’t have to worry about hiding her own feelings and feeling guilty for acting upset etc. I’m sure she will be over the moon for you but I know from my friend who struggled it was really hard to hear other people’s news.
Let us know how it goes x

coneywonder · 06/12/2018 22:29

Hoping I can join. I'm not due on till Tuesday but tested on a one step a few hours ago and got a very faint positive. Very similar to that of when I got my bfp with my son who is now 3.5! If I am which I think I am it will be due 19th August!

Thanks all. I dated around 6 by lmp but may be less as measures at 2.4mm x

stylix1981 · 06/12/2018 23:05

great to hear how your all getting along, im keeping up with all the posts.

For those that have had early scans, do they give you a pic the same as they would if it was at 12wks?

Ninunina · 07/12/2018 06:17

Welcome @coneywonder !
@Moonchild23 I thought of telling my sister first over the phone before she arrives for Christmas. She lives in Switzerland and is coming for Christmas (arriving on the 20th, which is the same day as my scan). I know she will be happy for me, she is the best aunt ever. She knows that we weren't even trying for a baby, so she won't be expecting this at all and it might come a bit as a shock.

mrsof20118 · 07/12/2018 06:47

@stylix1981 bus early scan I paid £4 For a pic x

dragonmummy17 · 07/12/2018 06:57

@stylix1981 i got a picture with DS but it was so early you couldnt really make anything out.

UnicornDust17 · 07/12/2018 07:33
