@jotinghil welcome :) that’s exactly what we are all hoping for too. This is a great place to come to relieve anxiety I can almost guarantee that at least one of us if not more are having similar worries

Feeling like such a pig today. Went out to dinner with colleagues last night and ate what must have been three times the amount anyone else did (paid for it with awful indigestion at 3am). Had a good breakfast in the hotel and then a big lunch today and I'm hungry again! ... must be another growth spurt Confused

jennac · 11/10/2018 14:21

Thank you @cryptonaut 😊 oh gosh I feel your pain! Last Thursday I went out for curry for a friend's birthday and the indigestion - my god, I have never experienced anything like it!! I spent several hours thinking I was going to throw up. At least you are feeling better today and hungry again! I'm sure it's just your baby growing so don't feel like a pig!

I just got back from 28 week midwife appointment, had two as it was a student as well - they were so lovely!! (My 25 week appointment was horrendous due to horrible midwife so I'm now just hoping I get lucky when actually giving birth!) they took blood, measurements and heartbeat and all good. Although I just got home and realised they didn't write baby's heartbeat down this time which is a shame (I was wanting to use it to guess boy or girl heartbeat theory!) never mind! Next appointment in three weeks when I'll be 31 weeks..things are really speeding up now!

Harrypotterfan1604 · 11/10/2018 15:40

@jennac glad you had a better experience this time.
Speaking of students what’s everyone’s opinions on having students involved in delivery? X

RiskIt4Biscuit · 11/10/2018 21:14

Thank you for your kind words.

I have just bought our car seat (Cybex Cloud Q) and isofix base - found it on sale online, so I’m quite pleased.

lucy19977 · 11/10/2018 21:29

Hello everyone! Apologies if this is a ridiculous thing to post

I'm 28 weeks today and I'm getting extremely nervous😅

I don't have much of a bump yet and it's starting to worry me. I had a scan at 25 weeks and he was over 2 pounds already and they were extremely happy with his development but I just don't feel pregnant if anything I just look like I've gained a few pounds round the stomach area and I see lots of women at my stage and before with nice big bumps!

People keep telling me it's an age thing and I have good stomach muscles but should I be concerned? I don't really feel pregnant at all (not that I know what pregnant feels like but I thought I would be more sick and tired etc) Should I ask the midwife about it incase there is a problem?

Harrypotterfan1604 · 11/10/2018 22:29

Hi @lucy19977
Every pregnancy is different, a friend of mine just looked a bit chunky until around 32 weeks then all of a sudden she looked pregnant.
Some People never have those horrid pregnancy symptoms that we are all complaining about in this thread and honestly they’re so lucky!
Are you feeling movement yet? It’s hard to figure it out at first, I’d def felt movement longer than I thought I had just thought I had wind haha x

cryptonaut · 12/10/2018 07:17

@lucy19977 there's a girl in my antenatal class whose about 3 weeks further along than me (so about 29 weeks now) and she doesn't look pregnant yet, she has a teeny tiny bump that looks about the same as my 16/17 week bump. I'm much bigger than the 2 others that are due within a few days of me as well.

One of the girls who recently had hers said she didn't have a noticeable bump until about 32 weeks (it was also the neatest little bump at the end), this girl had a healthy baby at a good weight after an easy labour as well. She came to class the day after seeing the midwife who told her she was 3cm dilated and she hadn't felt any of the early labour signs at that point.

According to the class leader, it's rare but there are some women who don't have any of the nasty symptoms, sail through their pregnancy and don't even feel like they're in labour until the moment the baby actually starts to come out.

jadem1990 · 12/10/2018 07:31

Hi I'm nearly 27 weeks and I'm same. I can easily hide bump atm although I know it's there under my clothes. Everyone comments saying how small I am but I just think I'm really neat atm and lucky. I feel baby move but not as much as in would like because my placenta is at the front. I go to pregnancy yoga and everyone seems bigger even the ones a lot earlier on than me. I used to concentrate a lot in the gym on my stomach muscles so I've just put it down to that. Try not to worry everyone is different! Although that is easier said than done because only a few weeks ago I shared the same worry.

jennac · 12/10/2018 14:25

@lucy19977 I am exactly the same, so try not to worry - I don't think there is a set size we should be. Has the midwife been measuring you? Because even though I'm still small (At a guess people say I'm 12-14 weeks when I'm 28), my measurements have always been bang on. So I think it really depends. Are you tall? That might be making a difference, but remember that everybody's body is different so there's no right or wrong. The main thing is that baby is healthy and they sound happy with that! It's much easier to be on the small side if you ask me!

Has anyone else had a visit from their health worker yet? Mine came round to introduce herself this morning, she was really lovely

RiskIt4Biscuit · 12/10/2018 17:32

I thought health workers only visited after the baby was born?

My brother has just called me to say that he and his girlfriend are expecting a baby.
She's 8 weeks pregnant now, so that would mean that she's due in May or so. It's very exciting as it's their first one too. My parents have also been told and they are very excited too and so happy that the two babies will be so close in age that there's a chance they could have a really close relationship.

lucy19977 · 12/10/2018 17:41

Thank you everyone I feel a lot better now! I can feel what I think it's movements but it also just feels like tummy grumbles that you get when you're hungry😅 at my recent scan I mentioned I didn't feel pregnant and she said that he's very active and a good size so I should start feeling him soon.

I'm only 5,2 and size 10/12 so expected to be massive by now but it's good to know I'm not the only oneGrin

Pelly8 · 12/10/2018 17:55

Hello I wouldn’t worry at all, everyone has different experiences. My friend’s bump didn’t pop until she was about 33/34 weeks pregnant! She had a lovely healthy baby. Everyone has different bodies.

I thought the movements were wind at first too 😂😂😂 i’ve started feeling more movements over the past few days but I can’t say i’ve noticed a pattern!

jennac · 12/10/2018 18:29

@RiskIt4Biscuit they apparently do one introductory visit before the baby is born. At least in my area anyway!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 12/10/2018 18:34

jennac That's interesting, I had no idea. It seems like a good thing though - what do they ask/want to see?

Janefx40 · 13/10/2018 07:29

Hello. Can I join you please? I'm 26 weeks so due Jan 18th.

@lucy19977 I'm the opposite - I'm enormous and if I'm honest I hate it when people comment. I think you're right that it is related to age and stomach muscle - I'm on the opposite end of the scale to you judging by your user name. I think that's why I hate the comments - I feel like people are saying "so you're really old and have no muscle tone!" Which clearly they aren't!!! But as long as we both have healthy babies eh!!!

Lovely to meet you all x

le42 · 13/10/2018 10:42

Hi - I’m 25 weeks, due 24th Jan. I think my bump is huge, but it’s rock hard to can’t just be the extra food I’m eating! 😂 everyone keeps commenting on my size and it does get me down.... I’m 5ft 8 and my partner is 6ft 4 so we were unlikely to have a tiny baby.

Pre pregnancy I think I was pretty fit, I did yoga every day and thought I had good stomach muscles. My bump is super low though.. so it just seems to pop out at the bottom.... not sure if that’s normal 🤔

quietly1 · 13/10/2018 12:42

Anyone else just feel unwell a lot? I keep getting a headache, feeling really hot, and this morning woke up with a swollen face. This on top of the PGP.
The swelling has gone dpwn now but eyes are still puffy. Pregnancy is so glamorous Hmm

Harrypotterfan1604 · 13/10/2018 14:16

Yeah I’ve felt really unwell today :( ive been hot and clammy all day and have just not felt right. Felt a bit sick and lightheaded and just generally shit 😫 I’m currently lying on my bed feeling sorry for myself x

Pelly8 · 14/10/2018 08:32

oh no @quietly1 and @harrypotterfan1604 I've been feeling quite groggy these past few days, mainly tired and heavy. I hope you both feel better soon.

when buying baby clothes, is it a good idea to buy either 3-6m or 6 -12 months sizes in case the 0-3m is too small? I have seen a load of beautiful jumpers on Gap and they have 40% off today!

cryptonaut · 14/10/2018 08:53

It could be a good idea. My nephew went straight into 3-6 months clothes, he was over 10lbs at birth though. I've mostly bought used clothes when I've seen bundle deals, all the way up to 18 months. Going to put a couple of different sizes in the hospital bag I think.

Harrypotterfan1604 · 14/10/2018 09:04

I’ve bought a range really. Bought some newborn clothes in the sale for £1 each so if they never fit or only fit for a week it’s ok. Got a few bits 0-3 and 3-6 but I’m not actually buying anything else now until Babys here x

quietly1 · 14/10/2018 09:39

Mine were in 0-3 for a while. I'd say up to the 3 month point, and I think beyond for my youngest who was just under 7lbs and has always been quite little. Could be a a good idea to have a range of sizes though. We've just bought a few 0-3 items, so far but going to wait to buy more until he's here.
Thank you, not some bad today, still not feeling particularly healthy. Just got on the scale and I've put on 4lbs in the last week! Hope you're feeling better @harrypotterfan1604

jennac · 14/10/2018 10:46

Morning all! Hope you're feeling better this morning. I've had a few feeling hot/dizzy/sick spells over the past few days which isn't nice! My bump has also gone rock solid which is quite intense!

Partner and I did a baby and child first aid course yesterday with the Red Cross...don't know if anyone else is planning to do one (we're clueless first time parents!) but it was really helpful and I would recommend it. Just basic stuff about how to deal with burns, choking, seizures, head injuries and non-breathing. Lots of other pregnant people there and I feel much better able to deal with emergency situations now, not just for the baby but with anyone!

lucy19977 · 14/10/2018 17:12

I didn't even think of a first aid class but that's a great idea, I am already first aid trained but would love to do a baby specific one.

I had my first anti natal class today and I now feel a lot more nervous about giving birth. I didn't even know what 'group B strep' was until today and now I'm worried about it😂 my next one is in 2 weeks and all about how to look after the baby so that should be less scary😅
