I've bought a range of sizes too, but mainly 3 months/62 (EU).
I'm thinking that anything too big I can roll up legs and sleeves for a bit, and I'm sure some of the clothes will shrink in the wash anyway.
I do still need to buy a lot of stuff like socks, more trousers and tops, but I keep thinking I'll wait until the sales start. Alternatively I'll sew something myself - now I feel like I have an idea of what I'd like and the sizes.

We've signed up for some antenatal course, as well as first aid for babies and baby massage. I'm waiting for confirmation for it - so I'm hoping the courses aren't fully booked yet.

I've also been talking to the providers of the local free antenatal courses (NCT, maybe?), but their courses start in a few weeks if due in January, so they should contact me again later.

Harrypotterfan1604 · 14/10/2018 20:27

Millie’s trust do fab paediatric first aid courses worth a look of people are interested

cryptonaut · 14/10/2018 20:41

After a busy week and weekend I have been relaxing on the sofa for a few hours. In that time little ones been having a dance party, making the bump jump around. It's been lovely :) can't wait to have him wriggling around in my arms!

Harrypotterfan1604 · 14/10/2018 21:10

@cryptonaut I sat for ages yesterday watching my bump move it was making me laugh loads 😂 don’t know what was so funny but I just couldn’t stop laughing at it haha

Lucy19977 · 14/10/2018 21:30

Is there antinatal classes that you pay for? Are these better or more in depth than the NHS ones? I currently have 1 every 2 weeks but i feel like I can't have too much info 😂

Also people that were talking about pain earlier in this thread my midwife gave everyone a number today for complimentary physio where you can get acupuncture session for sore backs and you back also get stuff like a band for around your bump to relieve pressure from your pelvis and they also do massages as well (she said spaces are obviously limited cause nhs resources) seems like a good idea if you need it!

Merrz · 15/10/2018 11:12

Anyone bought anything on-line from Bournemouth Baby Centre? They have a lot of really reasonably priced stuff (i'm looking at nursery furniture) just wondered if anyone has dealt with them

cryptonaut · 15/10/2018 18:15

@Lucy19977 check out NCT for local courses. They appear to be about 20hours each and the depth of information depends which course you go for. They do postnatal courses too. Ask your midwife if she knows of any other local classes. There's a local charity near me that focusses specifically on breastfeeding support, I've signed up for one of their classes. I'm also going to sign up for a baby first aid course near me.

lucy19977 · 15/10/2018 18:33

@cryptonaut aww I think they're just based in England! Thanks though I'm going to look and see if they have any Scottish equivalents Grin

cryptonaut · 15/10/2018 21:19

@lucy19977 it looks like they have it in Scotland too (https://www.nct.org.uk/branches/scotland). Click on the branch relevant to you (in the green box on the right) and then click "list all courses for this branch" (in the lighter green box on the right).

I find the website a bit difficult to navigate at times Hmm

RiskIt4Biscuit · 17/10/2018 13:18

Merrz I bought a Cybex Cloud Q car seat and Isofix base from them on Thursday evening and I got the order delivered on Monday by DHL.
I have absolutely no complaints so far :)

I've just had my 28 week appointment with the midwife, and all of the issues that I've had so far - UTI and the GP mentioning a too high blood pressure, pre eclampsia, GTT and so on have all been resolved it seems.
The UTI seems to have gone. My blood pressure is perfectly fine. There's absolutely no indication that I have pre eclampsia or need the GTT. The midwife was so lovely and reassuring about it all, and I feel more confident about everything now. I'm really relieved to be honest.

Unfortunately they didn't have the Anti-D vaccine (it should have been delivered), so I should get it tomorrow instead. The midwife will check and call me early tomorrow morning to confirm or reschedule.

Regarding antenatal courses:
We have a private course being offered in my town, recommended by both midwives and the lady I talked to at NCT. They've said that the information given is brilliant, but that a lot of the people who do the course together keep in contact after which is great.
It seems pretty good - there's all of the usual stuff regarding birth and how to care for a baby (changing, bathing and so on), and 2 hours with a breast feeding expert. After having the baby, there is a reunion. I think it's 18 hours in total, and it's around £250 for a couple. It's not cheap, but I've been told that it's worth it.

My impression is that the NCT courses are free, but I could be wrong.

Merrz · 17/10/2018 13:37

That's great news RiskIt, glad your appointment went so well!

Also good to hear you had a good experience buying from there.

cryptonaut · 17/10/2018 13:37

@RiskIt4Biscuit glad you were given some good news by your midwife.

NCT courses are paid for, the course you described sounds like an NCT one as the one I'm booked on is the same and about the same price. There are classes at my local hospital provided by the NHS too, the midwife told me these are run by NCT practitioners as well but they are a total of 4 hours and don't cover nearly as much as a paid for class.

I've also signed up for confident birthing (NHS - free), breastfeeding (Hampshire Breastfeeding Counselling - free) and baby and child first aid (NCT/Red Cross - paid). I was also invited to postnatal with NCT a few months after baby is born (also paid)

Curlypop · 17/10/2018 19:06

Wow that gtt test is so cruel. I fainted halfway through. Not heard from hospital so I think I'm in the clear which is good. Bring on the cake!!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 17/10/2018 22:53

cryptonaut I am wrong, the free course is not NCT, but run by the local borough in partnership with the local Children’s Centre.
I talked to the health visitors about it. Sorry for the confusion.

Curlypop I’m sorry to hear the gtt was horrible. Hopefully you’ll be in the clear :)

RiskIt4Biscuit · 18/10/2018 19:58

I'm just looking at cribs - the plan is to get one for our bedroom (I would like baby to sleep in our room as per the recommendations, but we do not have space for a large cot in the room), and then buy a bigger cot later on for when baby starts sleeping in his own room. Is that a stupid idea?

Is the Chicco Next2Me crib any good?

Kate123cl · 18/10/2018 20:06

@RiskIt4Biscuit I would've liked the Chico crib but wouldn't look right with the layout of our room. We bought a Rafferty compact cot from Asda for £50. It's a lovely size and fits really nicely into our roomSmile

Buttercup53 · 19/10/2018 07:41

@riskit I’m probably getting the Chico next to me cot, a couple of friends who had a baby earlier in the year have it and recommended it, so unless I see something else better for the money, I’m happy to go along with an in person recommendation!

OP posts:
Merrz · 19/10/2018 10:02

@RiskIt that's what i'm planning to do as well. I'm going with either the Chicco Next2Me or Suzpod, have seen them both in Mothercare and both look good, my friend has the Chicco and said it can be easily folded and has a travel bag so can be used for a travel cot if this is important to you.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 19/10/2018 11:26

Brilliant, thanks for your help!

I've ordered the Chicco Next2Me crib - the one with the side that pushes down, rather than the one with zippers. It seems to be on offer at John Lewis at £179 (I don't know if it's cheaper elsewhere).

We live in a 3 storey townhouse, so I'd like to have a little bed of some sort on all three floors.
Downstairs, we'll use the pram (baby will have his naps in it anyway). Top floor will be the Chicco crib (and will be the bed used at night - and it will be handy to be able to travel with if we need to) and in the middle (where we spend most of the time usually), I've ordered a Moses basket on a stand from Aldi.
It seems to get good reviews online, and it wasn't too expensive at £30 with the stand, mattress and I think some bedding as well.

I don't know if we'll use the Moses basket much, but I'm thinking it will be quite handy if I/we need to put baby somewhere for a moment, rather than carry him.

I think I'm almost done with shopping for now - we just need changing tables (one for upstairs and one for the downstairs bathroom), but I know which ones I want, so it should be easy enough to sort.
And we need nappies and the small bits and pieces like a little bath tub and stuff for the changing stations.

Merrz · 19/10/2018 11:33

Eek it's so exciting all the shopping and getting organised isn't it. I've got a list of what i want and where from and going to order a lot of it next week when i'll be 28 weeks and officially into 3rd trimester. Starting to all feel very real Grin

RiskIt4Biscuit · 19/10/2018 22:31

It really is very exciting!
I've really enjoyed shopping with my mum when I've been visiting my parents in Denmark as she has given me some advice and she obviously is really excited too.

It is also quite nice to shop here in the UK (and prices generally are better) and I am enjoying a bit of nesting - sorting out the house, trying to get everything sorted and so on.

I've mainly been buying plain clothes - mostly on sale, but because DH has been talking about his fond memories of Mickey Mouse and Snoopy, I've found a few items (muslins, towel, jumper) with those characters too.
He is not at all into shopping, and especially not anything baby related, but he seems to be showing an interest - and he is utterly baffled by how tiny the clothes is Grin

harrypotterfan1604 · 20/10/2018 02:01

Hi guys, I’m coming here in the hope someone at least understands how I feel right now and also to rant.
Tonight I’ve been told that my sister in law is pregnant and with twins. I should be overjoyed but honestly I lay in bed crying.
There is a slight back story here. She had an affair last year ending her marriage she denies it was an affair but it’s obvious it was. She now lives with her parents, no money and not yet divorced only moved out of the married home in May. She’s with this other man now and pregnant by him.
That the quick version of the story minus most the drama.
When I told her I was pregnant and ever since she’s been nasty to me, told me her parents would hate it because me and her brother aren’t married despite being together ten years. His parents are so happy for us and I knew she was being nasty. Week upon week she’s been horrid to me making nasty remarks and being a general dick.
So now she’s pregnant with twins and I should be excited that our babies will grow up together but all I feel is sadness. I feel like she’s upstaged me a bit I know how irrational that sounds!
She’s going to still be living with her parents when her babies are born and their dad will be living 4 hours away so I feel like once her babies are here mine won’t get a look in.
My in laws will be too busy with her babies to be bothered about mine.
I just feel really upset and have cried loads. I’m sure it’s hormonal and I know how ridiculous I sound but felt like I could come here to vent it.

Merrz · 20/10/2018 11:12

@Harrypotter i can sympathise with you. DH and I had been ttc for about 6 months when my brother announced his gf was pregnant, they'd only been seeing each other a few months, both lived with their parents and could hardly look after themselves's never mind a baby. Lot of long stories but basically she's BAD news, had debt which my brother has paid off, had a reputation for sleeping around and has been caught out on several occasions telling lies. Anyway when they announced she was pregnant both families were over the moon, my mum especially was desperate for grandkids and can't do enough for them and it annoys me how easy having a baby has been for them because they are so pandered too. I really struggled to come to terms with it and found it hard being around them, including my mum. It was so hard the fact we'd done everything 'by the book' were fanancially stable, got our own house, got married blah blah before starting a family and it all just seemed to land on their plate. I know it sounds so selfish but my baby should of been the 1st grandchild and I feel like our whole experience has been a bit tainted because of my brother having a baby 1st and in the circumstances he did, feels like my parents aren't that fussed about my baby now they already have a grandchild. When brother's gf was pregnant it was all everyone talked about and she wasn't allowed to lift a finger (she milked it big time) but it feels a lot of the time like everyone's forgotten i'm even having a baby.
Anyone I don't really have any advice for you just wanted to say I know how you feel Flowers

harrypotterfan1604 · 20/10/2018 11:30

Thank you so much. I felt so silly last night but it’s good to know someone else has felt similar :)

Merrz · 20/10/2018 11:40

I got annoyed with myself for a start because I felt like I was just being a jealous brat but I couldn't help how I felt and it was really hard. How much of an age difference will there be between the babies? Just think at least yours will be a total novelty because your in-laws will be seeing the twins all the time
