Funny about the hair thing maybe is some truth in it 😁
It's scary to think 3rd trimester is so close but exciting too.
Hope everyone's well today

Leg hair has stopped growing, and I'm having a girl!

Anyone else suffering with horrendous back and hip pain when walking? Literally just arrived home in tears after a walk that should have taken 15 mins has taken half an hour and in absolute agony :(
Got another Fetal Medicine scan appointment tomorrow so don't know whether to mention it to them or to give my midwife a call after the appointment?

Pelly8 · 30/09/2018 18:18

@ironytheoppositeofwrinkly I would mention it at the scan and give the midwife a call. Won’t cause any harm to ask them both. I’m having some hip and leg pain, I’m wondering if it is sciatica so I might go see an osteopath.

I’m having a boy and I’ve noticed I’m not as hairy as I used to be!

cryptonaut · 30/09/2018 18:46

@Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly you should definitely speak to the midwife, she'll be able to tell you the possible causes, might know some tricks to help, and will know who to refer you to if needed. I have the opposite problem where sitting for more than 30 mins is causing me agony in my back, standing and walking eases the pain, not particularly useful as I have a desk job and it will take longer to get a standing desk provided than I have left before maternity leave kicks in.

jennac · 30/09/2018 18:53

@Merrz so interesting about your leg hair question. I've been wondering this for a few weeks now...mine just isn't growing at all!!! I don't know what I'm having so not sure whether this supports the theory or not...time will tell!

Chelle13 · 30/09/2018 19:35

Hi ladies glad all is well with u all,i gave now been diagnosed with lupus disease which is awful ,anyone have this ???

Rarfy · 01/10/2018 07:08

@Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly could be the start of pgd is it? I know a lot of women suffer with it in pregnancy. Definitely speak to your midwife. As far as i know they should be able to issue you with a bump brace type thing to give some support.

Rarfy · 01/10/2018 07:09

My sil has lupos @Chelle13 so u have my sympathys. I know it can be super tiring when having a flare up. Can they give u anything for it?

Merrz · 01/10/2018 09:47

@jennac one of the better pregnancy symptoms. I don't know what i'm having either but all the old wives tales including the lack of hair growth are pointing towards girl so will be interesting to see.

sexnotgender · 01/10/2018 12:49

Had the weirdest conversation with MIL yesterday. She said how’s Thomas? Both DH were like, who is Thomas?

She said the baby! Erm, a. We’ve not decided on names and b. You certainly don’t get to choose itConfused

Maybe I’m just a bit sensitive! Thomas was on my list but it’s certainly not now.

Odd.

Sleesgirl · 01/10/2018 13:33

Re. names....I've found this with both my parents individually and my MIL. Hubby just lets it go over his head, which is probably what I should do, but it really irks me that people feel like they have a right to suggest names.

Rarfy · 01/10/2018 14:03

I hate people asking what names we like because everyone gives an opinion but then i really got annoyed at my friend when she kept her babys name secret so i feel like a hypocrite and say the names. I dont want people influencing me but is just happens lol.

My dm is obsessed with baby having a name which is a bit different. One of her suggestions was Isla so i had the last laugh when the 2017 names were released Grin

GinGeum · 01/10/2018 14:33

sex that is utterly bizarre that she seems to have just decided on a name!

sexnotgender · 01/10/2018 14:46

That’s exactly it Gin, she said she didn’t want to call him it so gave him a name.

What’s wrong with asking how the baby is? I just found it utterly bizarre.

Curlypop · 01/10/2018 14:52

Actually my leg hair isn't growing as fast either but my head hair is amazingly thick! I'm having a girl. Last pregnancy I lost so much hair when pregnant and after and it was a boy!

Winterbaby19 · 02/10/2018 08:33

Hi! New to mumsnet and due in January 2018. Would love to get chatting! x

Winterbaby19 · 02/10/2018 08:36

Whoops! 2019...is it too early for baby brain? On the way to work with a rubbish head cold.

Harrypotterfan1604 · 02/10/2018 09:21

Welcome @Winterbaby19 not too early for baby brain at all my heads been all muddled for weeks haha!

Merrz · 02/10/2018 13:18

Welcome Winterbaby19
How's everyone feeling? I'm so tiered today and really can't be bothered at work, just want to go home and snooze on the sofa! Hope that's not the 2nd trimester glow past already Confused

sexnotgender · 02/10/2018 13:33

Hello WinterSmile

I feel like a bloody whale today.

sexnotgender · 02/10/2018 13:33

I’ve totally missed the second trimester glow, unless you count the sweat I get on going up a mild incline...

cryptonaut · 02/10/2018 14:09

My energy levels are a bit better now. But my back is in pieces, struggling to find a comfortable sitting position so I can work properly.

jennac · 02/10/2018 14:34

Hi @Winterbaby19, welcome and congrats!!

As the third trimester nears (1 week to go, ahh!) I am feeling good, the only thing is I've noticed that I'm walking so much slower without even realising! I used to leave everyone in the dust but now I'm lagging behind. Am having to allow more time to walk to the train station in the morning etc. Must be the extra load!

doleritedinosaur · 02/10/2018 14:37

@sexnotgender welcome to the families input time. It’s massively wrong & inappropriate as well as bloody annoying!
I had it off in laws with weaning mainly until OH stepped in & shut them down.
It was frustrating as had it about naps & bedtime & everything. I tried to drown it out.

Welcome @Winterbaby

@Merrz I am so tired this week & my bump has popped out massively. Yesterday I could barely hold a conversation in the afternoon.

Movement has stepped up massively, actually worries they’re going to come out running.

Just had to cancel my whooping cough as my youngest fell asleep on the floor & he’s so full up of cold that I couldn’t face waking him. Rearranged for next week now.

A pramsuit arrived for baby too so collection is slowly building. Have to order the drawers this week so I can actually find out what I have & what I need to get.

eBay is full of Jojo polar fleece suits for 0-3 & 3-6 if anyone is looking for any.

GinGeum · 02/10/2018 15:17

But there’s relatives having inputs and opinions, but to choose a name and start calling the baby it?! That is just next level!

I don’t mind the opinions so much because I am fairly happy to just say ‘oh no I don’t like doing it that way’, but what annoys me is the patronising comments like ‘wait until you change a newborn baby’s nappy, you’ll be in for a shock!’ - I’ve been changing newborn babies’ nappies for 10 years!
