Greats news Butter - was wondering when you would get results back. Have you still got the original infection symptoms? What a weight off your mind though.

Pelly8 · 28/09/2018 14:43

@buttercup53 fantastic news! What a relief. Posh brunch sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate 🎉

Buttercup53 · 28/09/2018 14:45

Thanks both. @gin amazingly the symptoms have finally started to fade - I had the biopsies on Monday when my breast was red, massively swollen, and god knows what else. They took the dressing off to check it today and the consultant genuinely said ‘it’s a miracle, it’s finally starting to heal’, which sounds like total BS but he seemed really shocked. I still feel ill, honestly, and it’s still got a way to go, but I finally feel like I’m coming out of it all. May need to go back on medication but I’ll deal with that in a few weeks if it happens.

So pleased buttercup that's a massive weight off your mind! Bet you'll sleep well tonight now.

Rarfy · 28/09/2018 16:02

Have been thinking about you @Buttercup53 what great news so pleased for you.

Merrz · 28/09/2018 16:06

purplesmiler · 28/09/2018 16:30

So pleased with your update @Buttercup53 been thinking about you hope you can have a nice weekend.

doleritedinosaur · 28/09/2018 17:09

@Buttercup53 fantastic news! Posh brunch is definitely the way to go.

There’s a book called the positive birthing book which covers everything from c sections to home births to all the different kinds of pain relief. It’s a really good read & not biased towards anything so if any of you are curious or want something to read like that, it is useful.

Baby kicked my bump so hard earlier, whole bump moved. Never had that so early before. DS2 was sat on me though & bump hates anything on it.

GinGeum · 28/09/2018 18:21

My bump is so uncomfortable the last few days. It’s been feeling so heavy at night and feels completely stretched to capacity, so I think another growth spurt might be happening. How am I going to cope when it’s twice as big!

cryptonaut · 28/09/2018 20:05

I know how you feel @GinGeum, I'm getting uncomfortable too. Been really hungry over the past couple of days so expecting a growth spurt too. Finding it uncomfortable to lie in bed but so tired that I manage to mostly sleep through (this cold is probably helping with that side lol)

Wowthisisreal · 29/09/2018 06:18

Had some good news yesterday... we have finally exchanged on our house purchase and flat sale, 13 months after we first went on the market! The relief is real and I feel like I can finally start to relax a bit and enjoy the pregnancy.

DH and I put off trying for a baby for months saying we would start when we sold the flat until finally getting fed up of waiting for others to decide our future and to just go for it. Then cue absolute excitement mixed with panic when we realised we were pregnant first month of trying and no closer to selling!!

We had two prospective buyers pull out in the first 12 weeks which, with general 1st trimester anxiety and stress was horrific but finally we accepted an offer, and had an offer accepted the week of our 12 week scan and it all felt way too good to be true - so when the scan came back all ok my cup was full!

Then the worry started that something would go wrong! But finally exchanged and moving on the 8th ☺️☺️☺️

Rarfy · 29/09/2018 06:25

Great news @Wowthisisreal. Really pleased for you. Do you have a completion date then?

Dp and i always knew we would have to move when i got pregnant. We rent and our house is damp. Due to our financial situation never thought we would be able to buy but where we live on our current budget houses are much the same. Old damp street houses with yards and limited on street parking. To get something suitable would be looking at £200+ rent a month which we would have had to do. Fortunately dps family have borrowed him a deposit so we can buy a shared ownership new build. Just waiting to complete on it but fonding it so stressful especially the longer it goes on. Our solicitors communication is horrendous. Our new house is sat there empty and i just want to be in before i'm the size of a house haha!

Quirkycutekitch2011 · 29/09/2018 08:27

I had a lovely chat with DS (7) this morning about the baby, highlights were his asking of the baby can go to watch him doing his swimming lessons & him feeling bad for the baby because he will miss Christmas 💙

Harrypotterfan1604 · 29/09/2018 08:50

Congrats to everyone that’s had good news in the last few days i can’t keep up with the thread sometimes 😂 x

GinGeum · 29/09/2018 09:27

Quirky that’s so sweet. I look after two ten year olds at the moment who are so intrigued by the whole thing. One has started preparing what he’s going to teach him as he grows up, and the other is desperate to know every little detail about what is/isn’t formed on baby yet. One of them felt the baby kick the other day and his face was the loveliest thing I’d ever seen. I told DH it made me want to have lots of children now!

Pelly8 · 29/09/2018 12:44

hello all!

just wondering what cot mattresses you were all going for? I was going to get an Ikea cot and mattress but don't know which mattress is best? Should I buy the mattress from somewhere else? I feel like this is such a minefield sometimes, I really wish they made standardised products for babies that were all the same. It's not like we've all got anything else to worry about that wading our way through the choices out there...!!!

Wowthisisreal · 29/09/2018 13:42

@Rarfy - yes out completion is on the 8th. I was the same, super eager to get it all done before I got too big. Haven't been able to 'nest yet' or buy lots of the 'nice' things for baby as I didn't know it was all going to happen! We've reserved nursery furniture, pram, car seat etc but excited to buy some more of the homely things now 😊

Hope you get all sorted soon!! Have you exchanged?

doleritedinosaur · 29/09/2018 13:44

@pelly8 if you’re getting the cot from ikea it’s probably easier to get the mattress from there due to dimensions.

Aim for breathable & washable/waterproof.
Not foam, they really don’t survive.

Mine are from Mothercare but had such hassle getting the toddler bed mattress i wouldn’t use them again & would use John Lewis. We went for breathable & waterproof with springs, I’m not sure. But I avoided foam.

I think Ikea have all the mattresses out on display so you can see. The website ought to have customer reviews which always helps.

@Quirky that is so cute!! My DS1 is adamant there is no baby as his brother is here & so is his best friends. Despite being kicked by bump when he climbs on me.
He does love babies though.

Another tired day today, don’t think I’ve ever been so exhausted in a pregnancy.

Merrz · 29/09/2018 16:00

Random question ladies but what's your leg hair growth like? I just realised I haven't shaved for a week and a half and my legs have hardly any hair. Someone told me if you're leg hair stops growing it's a girl and if it grows loads it's a boy. Is this true for any of you?

Busyfool · 29/09/2018 16:49

@Merrz haha! Was literally wondering this today in the shower! I'm normally having to shave every other day but haven't for a week! Such a luxury! 😝
Oh to answer your question- I'm having a girl so your theory may well be true! 🤷🏻‍♀️😊

GinGeum · 29/09/2018 17:24

Merrz my body hair is growing a lot slower than normal but the hair on my head has gone crazy with new growth! I’m having a boy.

Buttercup53 · 29/09/2018 17:41

RE hair I’m genuinely jealous of you guys. I have naturally thick and fast growing hair anyway and now it’s gone into overdrive, I can’t keep up with it. I guess it supports the theory because I’m having a boy!

@pelly I was wondering about mattresses for a while as well, but in the end we’ve gone with the same place where we got the cot bed, they’re made by silent night anyway so I hope that’s a sign of quality (we had to get last seasons reduced stock as we couldn’t really afford a current season one, old stock is about a third of the price but it’s still brand new and unused), but we didn’t have much option because the cot size turned out to not be standard so getting the brand one was the easiest option. I also agree about standardising stuff, there are so many bedding options and opinions, I just want to use what is safe! There’s a guide on baby centre specifically about this though which I found really helpful if you’d like me to message you it.

Thanks to everyone for their messages yesterday, really appreciate it. Slept for a solid 10 hours last night for the first time in forever, then had a 3 hour sleep this afternoon, it’s super lazy but it feels nice not waking up in a cold sweat every hour.

Buttercup53 · 29/09/2018 17:46

Sorry to double post... but I just read the thread about when the third trimester starts and had the dawning realisation that I’ve got less than 2 weeks of the second trimester left! 😶 feel a bit scared now...

OP posts:
cryptonaut · 29/09/2018 19:02

With regards to hair growth, I also have naturally fast and thick growing hair but it seems to be in overdrive too. I even feel like I've grown loads of hair on my stomach Confused but DH says I'm imagining it... I'm having a boy. These old wives tales are very interesting.

For the cot, we managed to get a bundle (cot bed with mattress). The mattress I think is spring with a waterproof side to it.

Also get a little scared when I think how far along I am. Sometimes it feels like we've got loads of time left as we've got all the big essentials now, but then when I think of how much work we want to get done in the house and contractors not returning our calls I start to panic.

Been a busy day today. We went hunting for soft furnishings for the nursery, took my grandma out with us so it was slow going but it was worth it seeing how happy she was (she's not very mobile so doesn't get to go out much). We treated her to lunch too. And I think pushing her wheelchair was good practice for next year too. When we got home we did more work in the nursery, it looks really good now Grin just some finishing touches and then it's ready for the new carpet and furnishing!

Rarfy · 29/09/2018 20:51

Oh wow @Wowthisisreal that will be here before you know it. Exciting. Then the nesting can seriously get underway. Bet you can't wait to get nursery done.

With ours being a new build shared ownership they said we may exchange and complete on the same day.
