I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

To be fair she was lovely...did come across sympathetic in part. Probably I’ve just mentioned the negative / confusing bits on here haha. It just annoyed me to say it’s normal when it shouldn’t have to be if I can take the medicines but it was like she was scared of the medicines. Luckily the other GP who I get the impression is her husband, already prescribed me the cyclIzine. She was very much ‘do take the cyclIzine if you can’t take fluids’ when she saw the colour of my wee 😂

Hotchocolate86 · 17/09/2018 14:34

foreverblues I definitely think you should take the cyclizine as it may help to prevent the vomiting and certainly might ease the nausea so you can tolerate fluids a bit more. I hope you start feeling a bit brighter soon.

SeaEagleFeather · 17/09/2018 15:23

She said something about how I should only use cyclIzine for sickness not just nausea? Thoughts

My thoughts are that she's not the best doctor to treat HG. you can use cyclizine for both.

And no this level of sickness isn't normal.

Foodylicious · 17/09/2018 16:04

Hotchocolate86
No I haven't any experience sorry.

How you feeling today?
Did they tell you when you would need to contact them or make plans for monitoring of your urine and blood pressure?

If not can you ring the mau and see if someone can speak to you or call you back about it?

Foodylicious · 17/09/2018 16:05

They really should have given you a plan and at least arranged for your midwife to monitor urine and BP weekly I think?

How long now (ish) until your induction?

Hotchocolate86 · 17/09/2018 16:27

Hi foody I am still feeling poorly. Thank you for asking. My head is no better, possibly a bit worse, and I’m still feeling very sick but the doctor wanted me to wait 2 days before getting checked out again. I have the midwifes next Monday and my c section the following Monday so thankfully not long. I’m getting pretty concerned though that my headache is not going anywhere. They prescribed me codeine but the pharmacy said it make you really drowsy and I need to be able to look after my son so I darent take it.
How are you doing at the moment?

Foodylicious · 17/09/2018 16:46

Can call the mau and talk to them about your headache?

What dose of codeine have they given you?
8/500 or 30/500?

Foodylicious · 17/09/2018 16:47

I think at the latest you should get checked out tomorrow

Hotchocolate86 · 17/09/2018 18:06

My tablets say 30mg on them foody so I presume 30/500. I think I will definitely try to get checked out tomorrow as my head is definitely worsening now. The doctor wanted me to go to my gp first but there’s no way I’ll get in with them so I will have to try the community midwives I think.

LucindaE · 17/09/2018 18:12

Hotchocolate Poor you. I so agree with others, do get it checked tomorrow at the latest. You have every reason to make a fuss. About codeine, I have been on it for choronic pain when I had a shoulder problem, and I found that a combination of codeine and paracetomol 'Co-codomal' was really good. I am one of a number of people find a larger dose of Codeine nauseating, even without Hypermesis, though it does vary for people. Do keep us informed about how you are doing. Here's some Flowers for being so stoic throughout a dismal pregnancy.
Foreverblues Poor you as well! That doctor sounds well meaning but ill informed. If you find Cyclizine isn't helping enough and there is any problem about getting effective alternative meds, do phone Pregnancy Sickness Support on 024 7638 2020. They will phone back with great advice and have helped many on this thread. The dark urine sounds as if you might be dehydrated. I am not medically trained, but I do know that not everyone produces ketones easily from my experience on this thread. Probably being able to eat a little here and there has kept them at bay. Have you got dry skin and mouth, a headache, or have a very vague feeling? I so agree with SeaEagleFeather and others about that level of sickness not being normal.
Mustang That is a tragic statistic. It shouldn't be happening! Sad
Kacibass I so agree about the painfulness of heaving with an emtpy stomach.
Waves to Foodylicious and everyone...

Hotchocolate86
If its straight codeine and not cocodomol, I would suggest you try half a 30mg tablet with paracetamol and see how you feel.
Even if you wait till nearer bed time to give it a go

SassehMonsta · 18/09/2018 06:32

Morning. Sticking my head up to say hi, with the faintest of bfps. Siffered from HG with DD (now almost 4) and terminated a pregnancy because of HG when DD was 5 months. Ready to do it all again.
The sickness tipped me off. A week of nausea and tiredness when everyone else's "bug" lasted 24 hours. Could still be a bug, but I have my Stemtil at the ready.
So just a quick "Hi!" and I'm running off again. I'll leave it a few more days before I can re-confirm my bro. Early days.
Blergh xxx

Foodylicious · 18/09/2018 08:42

SassehMonsta hello! And fx

Foodylicious · 18/09/2018 08:46

Can I just have a moan please.

So not hg related, but SPD has suddenly got worse and I can't weight bear on my right leg.
Thankfully I had crutches in the cupboard from a few years ago, but I am so fed up.
They are bloody hard to use at this size and shape.
No idea how I am going to get through the next little bit.
Will be 38 weeks on Friday.
Just want to cry (and have been doing Sad)
Thankfully OH is days off today and tomorrow so is taking 4 year old to school.
Not sure how to manage on other days.
So so fed up

Foreverblues · 18/09/2018 09:22

Thanks LucindaE and SeaEagleFeather. Yes, headache, dry mouth and nausea especially today. Stomach pain as well with wind probably from not eating enough. So I rang my boss to say I’ve been signed off for the rest of the week. She didn’t sound happy to be honest. I think the concern is that I’m meant to be going on holiday a week on Wed for 10 days. I was supposed to be working time in advance for some of the days off and had no leave left to take so I don’t know if that means going on holiday will get me in trouble? Obviously I didn’t want this, didn’t plan it like this!! And think going on holiday is a bit different to going to work, even the dr said as much. But just want to know my rights. As if I can power through and go on holiday it will be a welcome break from home in a way? x

Foreverblues · 18/09/2018 10:42

Scrap that, just been sick again! Hadn’t taken any cyclIzine yet today because I was waiting for my dad to take screaming 3 year old to nursery. Don’t feel well enough to go away right now but don’t want to let partner and son down...our first family holiday 🤦‍♀️ The GP said just drink loads of fluids and everyone says it’ll be good to just get away. Don’t know what to do! Maybe a week is a long time and I can overcome this! The sick then was just acid :(

beanhunter · 18/09/2018 10:42

Ugh. Still feel horrendous. Now 9lbs Down and still not quite 10 weeks. Seeing rmc consultant again tomorrow and will ask for maybe metoclopramide and advice on bowels. I wonder if I need some fluids even though I only have 1+ ketones because I’m only drinking around 700ml per day and that’s not staying down anyway so probably not hoping the bowels. Fed up.

Foreverblues · 18/09/2018 10:51

beanhunter hope you are ok. My ketones were +1 as well. I was reading think on nhs site that if can’t drink more than 500ml need to get medical attention x

Hotchocolate86 · 18/09/2018 11:13

foody Sorry to hear about your spd. It’s a horrible thing to go through and yours sounds much worse than mine. Try to rest as much as you can although I appreciate that’s easier said than done with a little one.
I am at maternity triage getting checked out again. Just arrived so nothing much has been done yet. Thank you for the advice on the codeine foody and lucinda
foreverblues acid sick is the worst. I went on holiday just before I started maternity leave after a couple of weeks off sick. I made sure work knew and they were fine with it. I’m not sure if that’s helpful for you or not.
beanhunter if you are not keeping fluids down it probably would be worth you getting checked again.

Foodylicious · 18/09/2018 12:19

Thanks Hotchoc
I'm still waiting for midwife to text or call me back before I try to arrange some private physio.

Let us know how you get on!

SassehMonsta · 18/09/2018 14:40

After a second bfp after breakfast, I'm a bit more certain! So far, I seem to have the nausea and not much more, but I'm only 3 weeks. I am now contemplating the ways to stave off the sickness, as I can currently still eat and have a small appetite. I'll keep checking back in, but hoping against hope that HG won't rear it's ugly head for a few more weeks!

I daren't tell work yet. I know I will have to if it gets worse but for now I'm just "under the weather" and very busy with my work.

dellabrew · 18/09/2018 15:43

Aww congrats @SassehMonsta ! Exciting times :)

I'm feeling a lot better since being on the prochlorperazine, still feeling sick all the time but its stopping me actually be sick which is amazing!! Just more exhausted and had more headaches & heartburn, but I'd take that over being sick all day!

I'm just really bored?! No energy to do anything productive, but feel like I've watched or read everything...not at work atm as between jobs anyway, but definitely dont feel like starting anything just yet...but this boredom is so damn boring!!! Any tips ?!

Hotchocolate86 · 18/09/2018 16:12

Congratulations sassehmonsta I hope you can fend off the HG for a while yet.
I am just leaving the hospital. I don’t seem to have preeclampsia although I still have protein in my urine so that is being sent off for further testing. I did have a lot of sugar though and have had sugar present a few times so I have to go in for an urgent GTT tomorrow morning. I can’t say as I’m looking forward to that but at least it will be ruled out.

LucindaE · 18/09/2018 17:52

Sasssehmonsta Welcome. Congratulations on BFP. Sorry about former termination. Hoping you avoid it this time, but I am glad you have pre-emptive meds. Remember the helpfulness of a good anti acid.
Foodylicious I am so sorry about spd. Poor you. That sounds awful. Are there emergency physio appointments? If not, can you get an emergency appointment with an osteopath or chiropracter? Expensive I know.
beanhunter Best of luck with the consultant tomorrow. A good idea to ask about those things.
Foreverblues It might be worth a visit to A and E with all those symptoms,. It can be awkward, though, as some insist that there have to be high ketones to admit. However, being unable to retain water is a medical emergency. it is inhumane! I am a bit out of touch about holiday rights. I do know they can't penalise you for a pregnancy related illness. A lot of people can be suprisingly better on holiday. I don't know how long you have worked there, or if there is a HR department or if you are unionised. If the latter two, do contact those people for confidential advice.
Hotcholocate That's a relief about pre-eclampsia. Sorry to hear about GTI. I didn't realise they did them so late in pregnancy.
Deliabrew Not sure of your reading taste? I always swear by classic English literature.
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.

beanhunter · 18/09/2018 17:56

I know I need fluids. I feel awful. I’m so dizzy and vomiting bile. I only have 2+ ketones so they won’t see me.
