Wrong Due date?

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 10:20

I have a question about my due date, I and my partner think it's wrong going on what we know about ovulation.

Period on the 30th Sept 17- 3rd Oct 17

Sex on the 6 oct 17

Sex on the 20th oct 17

Period on the 21st oct 17- 23rd Oct 17

This makes conception after the 20th impossible so how is my due date the 6th sug 18.

Ive not had sex at all since the 20th of October so I know I can't have gotten pregnant after that.

Galadrielsring · 04/06/2018 11:55

Again I've not had sex since the 20 Oct so can't have had a miscarriage and gotten pregnant again in November unless I really should change my name to mary

Or you slept with someone else and are trying in a roundabout way to find out who the father is

ForEverlong · 04/06/2018 12:00

BlueBug45 it’s less about whether the due date is out by a few days and more about the fact that the OP couldn’t have got pregnant onthe dates she said she had sex.

BlueBug45 · 04/06/2018 12:01

@Galadrielsring you cynic. Wink

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 12:01

I think I'd know if I'd slept with someone else or not.

I'm trying to figure it out because of curiosity and I'd like to be able to guess when I need to start putting up a fuss about thinking I'm overdue when they say I'm not.

OP posts:
BlueBug45 · 04/06/2018 12:04

@ForEverlong see Galadrielsring posts above yours.

BlueBug45 · 04/06/2018 12:05

OP they will tell you when they think you are overdue based on the dating scans they did earlier in your pregnancy.

ForEverlong · 04/06/2018 12:06

OP your medical team are correct. They know when you’ll be overdue. Their dates are right

Changedmaname · 04/06/2018 12:11

This thread is amazing. Keeping me entertained this morning, thanks OP.

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 12:16

Your welcome I'm finding it quiet entertaining too, and interesting.

On averages of a 21 day cycle.

Cycle length = 21 days
Ovulation = Day 7
Most fertile = Day 6 to 8

First day of last period = 21st oct 17
Cycle length = 21 days
Ovulation (Day 7) = 28th oct 17
Most fertile (Day 6 to 8) = 27th Oct - 29th oct 2017

Does not work out at all as no sex after the 20th.

First day of last period = 30th sept 17
Cycle length = 21 days
Ovulation (Day 7) = 7th Oct 17
Most fertile (Day 6 to 8) = 6th Oct - 8th Oct 2017

Sex on the 6th Oct means I could have implanted 5/6 days later on the 11th/12th Oct 17.
Could occur up till the 13th/14th Oct 17.

Giving a due date of the 4th till the 7th July 18 based on a conception date NOT lmp.

All based on www.goodtoknow.co.uk/family/ovulation-calculator-66613

OP posts:
Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 12:20

Due date of 7th July 2018 based ON lmp.

I think I'd know if I'd slept with someone else or not.

Well....

ForEverlong · 04/06/2018 12:27

Op - you’re just repeating what everybody has told you. If you had conceived the first time you had sex your due date would be in early July not early August. If you had conceived the second time you had sex (unlikely because of your period etc) then your due date would still be in July.

Aka you couldn’t have conceived this baby on either of the dates you said you had sex

Whether you work it out from lmp or ovulation date the outcome same. You seem to be convinced that this is something that can be explained via conception date vs lmp or whatever and it isn’t. Everybody on here understands that if you calculate your due date from ovulation, or period that you’ll get the same due date. Except you

Rachie1973 · 04/06/2018 12:27

Giving a due date of the 4th till the 7th July 18 based on a conception date NOT lmp.

But ALL due dates are subject to change after a scan.

Your due date is now whatever due date the scan has given.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 04/06/2018 12:33

I'm also surprised about how much the op seems to know about ovulation dates in her cycle, length of viability of sperm etc and still didn't know about a pregnancy being 2 weeks "older" than the baby.

Ifuckinghatethatdog · 04/06/2018 12:34

If you were 12+4 on your 12 week scan then you were only 12+4. The dating scan is the most accurate and what we base the edd on.
The 20 week scan checks the anatomy. The development of the organs. There is no way that even a trainee sonographer would mistake a 24/25 week baby for a 20 week baby.

The 21 day cycle is a red herring. You need to stop fixating on that. You were 12 weeks postpartum plus breastfeeding and your cycles would not have regulated back to what they were before.

Unless you are charting you do not know when you ovulated. And even that is not 100% reliable.

You did not conceive at the beginning of October. That is not how biology works.

You conceived in November and no amount of researching or ‘buts’ will change that.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 04/06/2018 12:35

I’m just imagining OP scouring the internet for proof to show her DP that 10 month pregnancies are a thing before giving up and saying “I’m just a medical marvel darling”

Does he work away?

Takfujuimoto · 04/06/2018 12:36

You’re an idiot.😂😂😂

I've read through it all just now, how on earth can you not understand what everyone is explaining to you?

Is your DP questioning you? Are you the DP using your OH account?

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 12:39

Because my midwife told me more than once that my baby was CONCEIVED (conception occurring on implantation as she explained it to me) 12+4 weeks before my scan NOT that my lmp was 12+4 before my scan.

OP posts:
Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 12:43

No my fiancé agrees that they are wrong and also wants to figure it out.
No matter what any one says I didn't have sex after the 20th october so I'll just go sell my fiancé for a fortune because he has sperm that lives for 2/4 weeks apparently.

OP posts:
ForEverlong · 04/06/2018 12:45

You’ve either misunderstood her or she used the term conceived with an assumption you understood her meaning.
(I can’t imagine a midwife saying this baby was conceived 12 weeks and 4 days ago anyway but even if she did she means that’s when the cycle started within which she was conceived).
everybody on this thread is telling you thhow same thing yet you still won’t believe it? all of the information you find all over the internet will back up the fact that a baby at 40 weeks is actually (38 weeks from conception plus 2 weeks)

Ifuckinghatethatdog · 04/06/2018 12:47

Did you have the blood tests and measurements to test for downs at the scan when you measured 12+4?

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 04/06/2018 12:50

No my fiancé agrees that they are wrong and also wants to figure it out.

I bet he does! Grin

Rachie1973 · 04/06/2018 12:52

Deanna9
also wants to figure it out.

There is nothing to figure out. You have a due date based on your scans. Nothing and no-one will change that for you now.

Takfujuimoto · 04/06/2018 12:52

If your midwife literally meant that she believed you had conceived 12+4 weeks (which I very much doubt she meant and it's more likely she meant in reference to your Lmp) then surely she would be questioning the scan dates as well?

Deanna9 · 04/06/2018 12:53

No we decided not to as it doesn't matter to us either way. We wouldn't have terminated no matter what they said and I wouldn't of risked further testing after that.
