Wrong Due date?

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 10:20

I have a question about my due date, I and my partner think it's wrong going on what we know about ovulation.

Period on the 30th Sept 17- 3rd Oct 17

Sex on the 6 oct 17

Sex on the 20th oct 17

Period on the 21st oct 17- 23rd Oct 17

This makes conception after the 20th impossible so how is my due date the 6th sug 18.

Ive not had sex at all since the 20th of October so I know I can't have gotten pregnant after that.

Liz3891 that's exactly what I ment.

My 20 week scan was on the 20th March and put me at 20+1 weeks.

I had a scan on the 3rd May at 26+3 weeks where baby measure at 28 weeks
And a scan on the 23rd May at 29+2 weeks where baby measured 30 weeks.

Your period wasn't a period but implantation bleeding which can sometimes resemble a light to medium period.

Others don't get one at all

AnotherOriginalUsername · 03/06/2018 11:57

Do you normally have short, light periods? Could October have been implantation bleeding?

Conception doesn't happen the moment you have sex. His little swimmers can stay alive for up to 5 days afterwards if you're at the right point in your cycle and conditions are right. If there's viable sperm there ready and waiting when you ovulate, that's when the process starts.

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 11:59

Justvent I gave the midwife the 21st as the first day of my last menstrual period on my booking in appointment on the 29th December. She then gave me a scan date of the 26th Jan.

I did say I think that's wrong on my booking in appointment but she just dismissed me.

I had periods every 21 days that lasted 3 days of medium to heavy bleeding.

I don’t know but when my son was born at 24 weeks, a couple of doctors said he was huge and the size of a 28 weeker and asked if my dates were wrong, they wasn’t because all of my scans 6week, 12 and 20 were all spot on so he was just huge.
Going off on a tangent here but it must be possible and it must happen for them to ask.
Although agree with pp that the second period you’ve said would probably be implantation bleeding.

Celebelly · 03/06/2018 12:03

Yeah if you conceived around Oct 10th from the 6th sex, then your due date is like two weeks away from one you've been given which is within the margin of error I think. And the 'period' on 21st would either be implantation or breakthrough bleeding some women get in early preg when their period would have been due.

ShowOfHands · 03/06/2018 12:03

Your dates are all bang on for a pregnancy conceived in mid November.

You must have had sex or come into contact with sperm in that period.

Celebelly · 03/06/2018 12:05

Oh nvm I was getting my July and August mixed up. It's still a month out. I give up! It's a mystery of the universe.

BlueBug45 · 03/06/2018 12:06

They first estimate your due date from the first date of your last period using a 28 day cycle.

Then they use the dating scan to estimate the due date based on the development of the fetus, which may be completely different. This is because not everyone has a 28 day cycle plus some women do end up ovulating while on their period and get pregnant then. Remember it takes a 5-6 days from fertilization to implantation, and sperm can live for 5 days.

Waitingonasmiley42 · 03/06/2018 12:19

It sounds like you must have ovulated mid November so must have had sex in November at some point. The scans suggest this is the case if baby is measuring 12 +4 at dating scan.

Scarydinosaurs · 03/06/2018 12:34

Your midwife booked you for a 12 week scan when according to your LMP you would have been 17 weeks?

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 12:44

I haven't had sex since the 20th October.
My son was born via c-section on the 12th June 2017 and I only had sex twice between 12 weeks after and the 20th oct.
Those times being the 6th Oct and the 20th oct. No sexual contact involving a penis from then at all.

ShowOfHands · 03/06/2018 12:50

Your baby was conceived in November. Your scan dates confirm this.

You have had contact with sperm in November. Did you drink alcohol in November? Were you ill at any point? Any nights out?

DerelictWreck · 03/06/2018 12:55

You haven't had sex since 20th October Shock

misses point of thread entirely

DerelictWreck · 03/06/2018 12:56

In all seriousness though OP, if that's right then presumably you are measuring quite small and should think about flagging it to someone?

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 03/06/2018 13:04

OP Is there any chance at all your partner sexually assaulted you while you were sleeping?

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 13:05

I'm speaking to my midwife next week. I'm just getting other peoples opinions.

LilacIris · 03/06/2018 13:20

I was told by a sonograoher than dating scans can be up to three weeks out (which seems a massive error range to me). So sex on 6 October, ovulation on 9 October and due date on 6 August fits. The fact you say recent scans show the baby is measuring so far ahead and is big, could also back up that the dating scan was incorrect.

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 13:21

Defiantly no chance of that no

OP posts:
JustVent · 03/06/2018 13:23

So the 12 week scan was accurate.

The 20 week scan was accurate.

And now the baby is measuring bigger.
So it’s not that your conception date that has changed it’s the fact that the baby is big for its gestation.

Waitingonasmiley42 · 03/06/2018 13:28

No justvent if the baby was conceived when op says it was then it's measuring far too small for gestation. The scans suggest a November conception which op says is impossible.

JustVent · 03/06/2018 13:52

I know what the OP says.

But the Midwife didn’t just pluck the date for her 12 week scan out of her bum. She did so with the information the OP gave her and it was absolutely correct. She was 12+4.
The 20 week scan was also spot on which followed.

So I will repeat, the OP is either on the wind up, not telling us something or has for some weird reason, changed the dates of her LMP.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 03/06/2018 13:59

I agree with Just. There's something missing here if Deanna had given the above dates at her booking her 12 week scan would have been sooner & she'd have been recalled because at that point baby would have been measuring too small (given it was 12+4 at the scan she did have).

Deanna9 · 03/06/2018 14:00

Im not winding anyone up, I don't have my dates wrong, I definitely haven't had contact with sperm since the 20th October. You do realise that medical professionals are not all knowing and do get things wrong right.

I'm worried about going over actually as I could already be two weeks over by the 6th August. My symptoms don't match how many weeks I am and neither does the fact that baby first engaged at 26 weeks. My bumb has dropped already and I've had 3 episodes of suspected early labour all false alarms luckily and I've had 4 episodes of reduced/no movement since 28 weeks.

I'm not getting kicks, I'm getting rolls and cervical pressure which even the midwife has said seems strange at 30 weeks.
