Can someone direct me to the March thread please? Or shall we start a new one? I feel like the old one has completely disappeared into the depths of the mumsnet sea.

We're getting close now and wanted to see how everyone was as I'm due the 7th Smile

All the best to you all lovely pregnant ladies

Hi all. I see a few of us approaching due date and getting antsy! I'm 39+2. Dd1 came at 39+6 and dd2 came at 39+1. I was so sure this one would be early but now I don't think so. And I'm huge Hmm

For whoever asked what works to kick things off - I think sex does. That's probably it Hmm I've been losing mucus plug gradually since dtd but that doesn't mean much I think. If it was bloody then that'd be more of an indication.

The waiting is the absolute pits isn't it?!

Twitchett22 · 04/03/2018 18:37

I've had a bloody show today after a failed sweep because my cervix is still closed, im clinging on to hope that the bloody show is a good sign!
Is anyone else worried about their baby being massive if they go overdue too much? It really worries me and family friends and dp keep saying 'it'll be a 10pounder' as a joke and its freaking me out. Never mind the fact she's got lots of gorgeous newborn clothes to wear that won't fit her if she comes out massive!

HalfStar · 04/03/2018 18:48

That is a good sign Twitchett if you're close to your due date.

Yes I am worried about a big baby too, growth scan showed it was quite big a few weeks ago. My previous babies were small so I am a little freaked.

Totally forgot to congratulate chiriuri - so wonderful your baby is here, how is it over there in newborn land? Flowers

Thank you! Newborn land is exhausting but lovely. She’s so squishy and adorable.
Bloody show after a sweep is definitely a good sign! I had that and delivered hours later.

blinkineckmum · 04/03/2018 19:59

Only 37+5 here but feel overdue as dd came at 37+4. Now thinking this one will be bigger! Snow has passed, thank goodness, though the inlaws are still snowed in so can't help... I wonder how much longer I'll have to wait? So uncomfortable! Best wishes to all.

Jjpeston · 04/03/2018 20:41

As if the waiting game wasn't torturous enough, the other half has put Top Gear on.

I'm off to bed with the laptop - I might watch a bit of One Born Every Minute or Call the Midwife to get me in the mood (for baby delivering not the other;) - anyone else got any more good telly suggestions? X

Potteryprincess30 · 04/03/2018 21:09

@Jjpeston I just watched all the series of 'Episodes' on netflix (tamzin greig, mat le blanc) really enjoyed it as I could totally switch off but if you dont want to switch off then call the midwife will be better.

Avoid one born every minute maybe? it can really give one anxiety about impending labour, they do choose some dramatic births!

And yes I am very keen on all the things you've mentioned regarding hypnobirthing, positive thoughts, breathing, aromatherapy, anything is good with me if it's a distraction, makes you feel better and calmer. It is not hippie stuff (crystals and purple velvet are usually involved with hippie stuff Grin)

A lot of those things are based on scientific facts and reduce fear in women during and before labour itself, and anything that seems wrong at the time can be chucked out after all. I'm hoping to have my daughter at a midwife lead center where they love this stuff but they also have drugs so pottery is happy with that!

@Twitchett22 I feel like your going to have your baby really soon! the show seems really like labour could be starting!

Twitchett22 · 04/03/2018 21:40

Normally i would agree and think that the bloody show is a sign im not far off, but the fact that its come after a sweep attempt that didn't work because my cervix is closed doesn't fill me with much hope! Let's see how the night goes!

Jjpeston · 04/03/2018 22:09

@Potteryprincess30 yes I know, not really hippie-ish at all, that's me being silly - they are all definitely based in science. I think there is so much negative talk around birth in the UK - it's almost as if people try to outdo others with how bad their birth was - that I am ALL for positivity.

Sadly my last experience was pretty crap - not the birth itself, which was fast and painful but otherwise smooth - just in terms of poor care from the NHS, left alone through my labour etc - but absolutely determined that won't happen this time and want to make it all as positive as possible. Trying not to be nervous. Let's all remember that the body knows what to do and will take over. And they will come when they are ready - I am going to avoid sweeps and just let him come when he's ready. Pottery do you know if yours is boy or girl?! And is your little one excited? X

I'm 39 weeks today and currently being induced in the hospital 😬

thaigreencurry82 · 05/03/2018 01:25

I’m 39+2 now as it’s Monday. I don’t want to go longer than 41 weeks so will ask to be induced at 41 weeks if that is the case.

I’ve read the sweep thread. I’m open to having a sweep at a day before due date, mainly because evidence suggests (see paper I posted) that going too far over is associated with poor outcomes. I would prefer to have a sweep earlier which although is an intervention, rather than need induction at 41 weeks.

Re anything to kickstart labour naturally the only thing I believe in is sex due to the prostaglandins in sperm. But then only negligible effect - how much prostaglandin are you actually going to be exposed to- hardly any.

thaigreencurry82 · 05/03/2018 01:29

In terms of symptoms, I’ve only noticed some pressure low down in my pelvis, like pressure on the cervix/bladder?? No idea whether it is or not. Only a couple of Braxton Hicks today annoyingly.

MrsL2016 · 05/03/2018 07:54

Morning everyone and good luck with your induction @turkeydinos! We sprung a leak in the house yesterday so no hot water or heating and a quick relocate to the in laws for the night. Hoping to get it sorted asap as I don't want to into labour (38+2) and have that to contend with too.

LoveRainbow02 · 05/03/2018 08:08

@Twitchett22 fingers crossed this is the start of something for you! How exciting.

@turkeydinos good luck with the induction.

So many people starting to show some signs now and it makes me so excited! I'm about to ring triage as I'm not happy with bubz movements this morning. Does the worrying ever end lol!

Twitchett22 · 05/03/2018 09:52

I've had a rubbish night's sleep, tossing and turning all night and I've woke up with everything hurting, even my jaw lol. No contraction type pains although i do feel a mild pressure in my bum! Just no idea if I'm overthinking everything now.
Good luck turkeydinos! Not long till you get gorgeous baby snuggles!

blinkineckmum · 05/03/2018 10:20

Good luck turkeydinos! Keep us updated!
Sorry to hear of your troubles MrsL2016. There's always something isn't there?

Lavenderdays · 05/03/2018 10:51

Ah, Twitchett...Sympathies...I have had a rubbish nights sleep too. Firstly, I don't think I could get off to sleep due to anxiety and then when I did drop off, I had to get up about 10 times in the night to the toilet. Was really snappy this morning and just wanted to stay in bed...but trying to preserve dh's leave, I got up and did pre-school run (dh got her ready etc) but I am finding driving a real pain now not helped by my breathlessness. Feeling rubbish and wondering how I will manage labour should it happen on top of a crap nights sleep. Have little inclination to do anything or see anyone and banking on it all changing once little one comes along.
Mrs L...whilst we do have some heating (not heating properly) and hot water, our boiler is on the blink (we don't want to replace it/spend hundreds repairing it because we are planning a new kitchen extension in the Autumn) - it's a nightmare isn't it when you think of bringing a new born home - fortunately it is much milder here today (and hopefully will stay that way)
Good luck with your induction turkeydinos, - I have an induction planned for about two weeks time (if baby doesn't put in an appearance before that), would be interested to hear about your experience.

Potteryprincess30 · 05/03/2018 13:17

Anybody know if you can bounce to energetically on a birth ball?! The more I bounce the more violent it becomes but it feels good so hoping that means it's kosher

OP posts:
Potteryprincess30 · 05/03/2018 13:19

@Jjpeston yes, down with this sweeping business, unless medically necessary. I'm having another girl, currently trying to bounce her out!

Ro2017 · 05/03/2018 14:37

Hi all! Can I join in? My first baby is due on Wednesday (07/03) and the waiting is starting to drive me a bit bonkers! Love seeing stories of people who have already given birth to their beautiful babies though. I have been quite energetic throughout my whole pregnancy but yesterday and today I have zero energy and finding it hard to do anything! Hoping my body is preserving energy for the big day Wink

Potteryprincess30 · 05/03/2018 14:51

@Ro2017 welcome! As you can see from my thread blurb i'm also due Wednesday (though they have been saying tomorrow in my midwife appointments).

We've only had 2 babies so far i think on this thread, and one was born way back. And the other the 28th of February so the game is still on for the first march baby!

Is this your first and do you know if its a boy or a girl @Ro2017?

OP posts:
LoveRainbow02 · 05/03/2018 14:59

@Potteryprincess30 keep bouncing on that ball and hopefully your little girl makes an appearance soon.

After I had my trace today the consultant managed to give me a sweep. I was shocked! Back on Wednesday for another trace and meeting with the consultant for possible induction date and getting another sweep.

Potteryprincess30 · 05/03/2018 15:07

@LoveRainbow02 I love bouncing on it so much I cant believe I haven't been doing it before. I have virtually turned it into a space hopper with my over enthusiasm !

How are you feeling after today LoveRainbow?
