Can someone direct me to the March thread please? Or shall we start a new one? I feel like the old one has completely disappeared into the depths of the mumsnet sea.

We're getting close now and wanted to see how everyone was as I'm due the 7th Smile

All the best to you all lovely pregnant ladies

36+3 (will be induced at 39 weeks) if baby doesn't come before. Feeling incapacitated - breathless and frustrated...I really feel enormous now - cant remember feeling this bad in previous pregnancies; hopefully no more than 17 days to go now (not that I'm counting or anything). It's got to a point where I don't want to go out (snow or no snow) and feeling tearful and unsociable. Dreading birth...but cant tolerate feeling like this for much longer so actually becoming the lesser of two evils.

Mugglenet · 03/03/2018 18:28

@lavenderdays have you been given induction Date yet?? I was told I'll be taken in at 39 weeks but no date was given. Not sure how this all works

Lavenderdays · 03/03/2018 20:00

Mugglenet, No, I haven't been given a date yet - I have a meeting with the consultant a week before and assume it will be organised then. At the moment, I am working on the assumption that it will 39 weeks exactly but might be cheeky and look to see what day/date suits me best and push (pardon the pun) for that. I can't quite believe I'm going to make it that far given how rubbish I feel and huge I am and would much rather things progressed naturally and built up slowly.

Mugglenet · 03/03/2018 20:05

I have the same due date as you. I'm with consultant week before as well.
I'm so sore. On Sunday I cried I was only having one.
Did you go naturally with prev pregnancies? The consultant told me an induction is alot more painful than going yourself...

Lavenderdays · 03/03/2018 20:11

Yes, naturally - with dc1, I was a day over and with dc 2, I was around the 38 week mark so hoping that this happens again...anytime after the 37 week mark would be fab. Yes, I think an induction can be more intense/painful because it skips the initial semi-latent stages (if I remember rightly), so yes, I am a bit concerned about it (but in denial, I think, believing that it will all happen ahead of time anyway).

Mugglenet · 03/03/2018 20:19

Where im from they do early intervention programmes for first time mothers... they gave us a class on breast feeding and encouraging us to "harvest milk" before the big event... however they don't want us to start until we are are 38 weeks as it can bring on labour... would be worth stimulating your nipples to get things moving. They were very clear on us not to start yet. Hopefully you will feel better soon or have a baby in next week or 2. I'm dreading the birth... I think it's the unknown... and refusing to listen to peoples horror stories.

Potteryprincess30 · 03/03/2018 22:57

lol, all the cramps and braxton hicks have disappeared now Hmm after nearly 4 days of thinking 'i'm in slow labour' I'm now thinking i've got another week left perhaps.

I have been willing my body not to go into labour though the last few days because of the snow so have sent a little prayer of thanks into the ethos!

The 4th of March tomorrow..oh my god ladies it's going to be an amazing month!

Hi ladies I’m 39 weeks today with my first due 10th March. Finally went on mat leave at 38+5. Baby fully engaged and moving lots, random moves with bits sticking out, not sure if foot elbow.
I have been offered a sweep at 39+6, have sailed thru preg been really lucky I know, is it standard to get offered a sweep like this?

thaigreencurry82 · 03/03/2018 23:05

Ps I’m glad this thread is here as I’m not a Facebook person either.

Jjpeston · 03/03/2018 23:32

pottery Only 3 days to go til our due dates -can't quite believe it. I've been feeling a load of pressure way down in the pelvis the last few days - needing to wee loads more than usual and feeling extra tired and drained. Face keeps going flushed like red cheeks and have vague memories of that happening from first labour 21 months ago so perhaps it's happening again (I'm allowing myself to hope so now that the snow has gone in London!) - how are you feeling this eve? X

Anya1981 · 04/03/2018 06:32

Well I’m due on Tuesday and don’t think I have any symptoms of impending labour whatsoever. @Potteryprincess 30, like you, all the cramps in my lower belly and B-H have gone now, I’m sure it was just a case of really bad wind! Which unfortunately continues, without the cramps though ;-) Oh the glamour of pregnancy!
@thaigreencurry82 I was wondering the same as you, as my midwife haven’t mentioned a sweep yet, but I’m seeing her tomorrow (a day before my due date) and now I’m thinking she might offer to have a rummage around ;-) although at a previous app she mentioned they offer aromatherapy too, as a way of inducing labour, so am hoping we’ll try that first! Am surprised to read how many women are offered a sweep on their due date though.

Potteryprincess30 · 04/03/2018 08:46

@thaigreencurry82 long time no see! Glad all ok your end and finally the work grind is over. You have done a sterling job Smile I actually started a thread on sweeps, not sure why with a good pregnancy ect you would be offered/have one before your due date but you will definitely find the thread interesting. Will post below

@Jjpeston baby due date twin! We made it through the snow, phew! luckily we are London and Bristol mums to be and it has basically gone now. It's a surreal time now isn't it? It really also seems like we have been pregnant a year as when I thought the '4th of March' today I laughed like a maniac at my partner. What the hell! it's March.... didn't we get pregnant just over a year ago Grin

I reckon you might go before me now, everythings settled down this end after a few days of niggles

@Anya1981 give or take a few hours you are also a fellow due date sharer! Check out the link on the thread on sweeps I started. Lots of food for thought there, though I would say if it's your first baby then wait for things to come naturally. What's a few more days after 3 years of pregnancy after all Grin

Haha, that’s true @potteryprincess30. I was thinking i’ll give this baby another week to sort itself out before letting the mw near my bits! It is my first, but as i’M a little old for first time mum (turned 37 a few days ago), i’m also a bit anxious not to leave things too long. But a week i’m Sure is fine. Have seen the thread on sweeps, it’s interesting read!

Potteryprincess30 · 04/03/2018 09:05

@Anya1981 sounds wise. After all, what with their estimates not being completely precise on due dates anyway, giving the baby a week 'extra' is completely sensible. If they are ready they aren't ready. I am convinced everyone on the thread will have their baby before me anyway so happy to incubate longer

@anya81 @potteryprincess thank you for the links. Yes there is data - I will dig it out - that shows it’s not good for older, ie 35 and over (I am 35 with my first) mums to go too far over. So I am strongly considering the sweep they have offered the day before due date. But I’ll have a read of those threads as well and hopefully come to an evidence based conclusion.

Potteryprincess30 · 04/03/2018 13:59

@thaigreencurry82 thanks for the link. See how you feel next week I guess too as you may start getting some signs and you can always request a sweep a few days past your due date rather then the day before

Hey all! Anyone swear by anything (pineapple, sex, spicy food?!) in particular to kickstart labour? I thought I'd see if any of you had any strong feelings that particular things work - aside from medical things like sweeps...?

@Potteryprincess30 - are you still not feeling any particular early labour symptoms? Mine have stopped today too, no aches of pains. I find at this stage its so hard to sleep. I've started listening to hypnobirthing mantras (I did a great course given by a wonderful woman called Nissa - The Hypnobirthing Midwife - if any people are keen, check her out on YouTube etc) - she also has these new mantra cards you can buy. Personally I find the cards easier to digest or take in - they're SO positive, I personally love all that stuff. I also printed off photos of my daughter when she was a tiny newborn to take with me to hopefully motivate me to push etc, and I have fairy lights and clary sage essential oils. I did none of this hippie stuff last time - but all things to think about if you go overdue and start going spare with frustration or are unable to sleep at night!
