Can someone direct me to the March thread please? Or shall we start a new one? I feel like the old one has completely disappeared into the depths of the mumsnet sea.

We're getting close now and wanted to see how everyone was as I'm due the 7th Smile

All the best to you all lovely pregnant ladies

Awe how lovely. I don't know, so I enjoy guessing.

Have u tried a bar of soap at the bottom of your bed?? midwives told me it helps with the legs. Still cramps but not as bad. And a banana at night... anything to make the last few weeks bearable.

Vickylou78 · 01/03/2018 18:46

Bar of soap?!!! May try the banana though as sure that’s why tennis players est them. Will let you know!

Mugglenet · 01/03/2018 18:49

Apparently there is something in soap that helps. Give it a go and see if it helps.

Clevs · 01/03/2018 18:50

I’m likely to kick the bar of soap off the bed with all my wriggling about! It’s not proper cramp I’m getting but just tight muscles that feel like really mild cramp. Most of the time it’s just in my left leg as well which is strange!

Crapbags · 01/03/2018 18:51

@Potteryprincess30 do you have snow where you are? While I don’t think baby will be arriving imminently I’m hoping he holds on till all snow has gone as I think it would make things a little tricky for me be it a home or hospital birth. Do you have a birthing/gym ball? I found lots of sitting rocking, rolling around on it helped in last week or so it’s supposed to help with the opening up of the pelvis.

@hiptobesquare how lovely and as for what to do with a newborn I’d say lots and lots of cuddles and sniffing of the head to get your fill of that delicious newborn smellGrin

Potteryprincess30 · 01/03/2018 19:19

@Crapbags Bristol so pretty snowwy here for the south west but probably nothing compared to up north or the highlands. My partner finally returned from work and is safe and sound. His paternity leave starts now so I'm very grateful for that.

Tonight would be tricky but no no other labour signs apart from the fairly constant cramps. Hoping i've got a few days yet. But I do have the ball so will start some bouncing now as haven't really used it yet!

My lovely neighbour has just phoned to say it's impossible to drive a car where we are but they have a truck, so to drop the kids at hers if need be and her husband will drive me to hospital!

Crapbags · 01/03/2018 20:07

Ah that’s good to know @blinkineckmum lovely of them to offer too!

My DH does have a truck he uses for work but his business partner drove himself to the airport in it so it’s sat in a Gatwick car park right now so no use to meAngry I think the snow where I am is supposed to clear by Sunday/Monday so hopefully won’t be a problem.

I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and hoping that will still go ahead as wanted to talk through all the home birth info and planning. I have them in a children’s centre attached to a local school but that’s shut so im wondering if they’ll shut the centre too.

What are everyone’s baby movements like? Mine still wiggles a fair bit and makes some very strange shapes with my belly....I’m always intrigued to figure out what body part is sticking out where but sometimes it’s so hard to distinguish.

Crapbags · 01/03/2018 20:08

And yep @Potteryprincess30 get bouncing!!Wink

HazyDays81 · 02/03/2018 07:50

I haven’t been on here for a couple of days (entertaining my 7 & 4.5 year old with schools closed has kept me busy!).

Congratulations chiruri on the birth of baby Poppy, lovely news!

I’m now 38+1, lots of Braxton Hicks & I think bump has dropped as more pressure down below. Went overdue with both my boys so wondering if it’ll be the same again. Silly I know but I still can’t actually believe I’m having another baby!

Who will be next?! Exciting reading birth announcements Smile

Anya1981 · 02/03/2018 07:56

I keep feeling a foot/heel around my belly button, and some fiststhumping near the exit ;-) but baby is quite active at the moment!
I had a bit of a stressful night, after all this wishing baby would hurry up, yesterday eve I had a bit of an upset stomach, feeling nauseous and with a constant cramp in my lower belly. Trouble is now is really NOT a very good time, as we’re snowed under! The birthing centre is about 3 miles away, so I suppose I could walk it ;-) but would really rather not have to! Or sledge it.
Anyway, cramps have mostly stopped now, and I still can’t really tell if it’s just bad wind... Oh well, it’s like people said, when it starts I will know for sure it has started!

blinkineckmum · 02/03/2018 08:24

No you can't walk it! What if you fell? Do you know anyone with a 4x4? All roads around us are impassable, all schools and businesses shut!

Anya1981 · 02/03/2018 08:56

I was joking about the walk 😉 I was actually racking my brain yesterday thinking if I knew anyone with 4x4 and I don’t think I do! Anyway, hopefully baby is staying put for another day at least - it’s supposed to be 5 degrees here tomorrow so the snow should be gone.

blinkineckmum · 02/03/2018 09:07

Good luck. There's always the emergency services if needed.

Twitchett22 · 02/03/2018 12:54

Due date tomorrow eeekkk. Woke last night with sharp pain all around my bump, got very excited, turns out i needed a poo Blush bumps very low today though, still the odd crampy pain but nothing too exciting, although when i go to the toilet and wipe (front or back) its quite sore, like there's lots of pressure. Off for a walk to see if it pushes anything on.
I can easily get to hospital luckily but my mums completely snowed in so she'll be gutted if i give birth and she has to wait days to see baby!
Congratulations chiruri! Makes me feel more positive about having a sweep tomorrow! Poppy's on our name list too, its gorgeous, hope you're enjoying lots of warm snuggles Flowers

chiruri · 02/03/2018 13:12

Thank you everyone. I hope all the babies start popping out soon! If it helps I felt very “pre-labour” all day on Wednesday. Loose poo x3-4, irregular cramps and back pain, and getting short of breath. Is obvious now but couldn’t tell at the time that it was my body getting ready. Hope the cramps and diarrhoea means things are happening with others, too!

blinkineckmum · 02/03/2018 13:43

Well they're shutting my local maternity unit as the staff can't get in! So I hope things don't start moving too soon! 37+3 and my dd was born at 37+4!

Vickylou78 · 02/03/2018 14:07

Good luck everyone with the snow! Warming up tomorrow so maybe everyone cross your legs until then!

blinkineckmum · 02/03/2018 14:54

We're forecast snow until Sunday!

Lavenderdays · 02/03/2018 18:50

Chiruri, congratulations on the birth of your baby girl.

Anya, I had what you describe re cramps etc. Tuesday night...but they faded away and there has been no other obvious signs (thankfully with this weather) of impending labour.
Feel less worried now the snow has actually fallen...weather will be warming up again which means things will start opening again...it feels as if the worst is over...though obviously would have been far better if the snow hadn't arrived in the first place.
Blink...they're shutting the maternity unit?...that's pretty drastic, fingers crossed baby will hold on for a couple more days x

blinkineckmum · 02/03/2018 19:52

It's just a small unit 15 mins away. Will have to go to hospital 40 mins away. I hope we hold on too! Snow now forecast to stop overnight so I hope they open again tomorrow!

Anya1981 · 03/03/2018 11:51

How is everyone doing today? I woke up in a really bad mood for some reason, feeling tearful and angry. Keep getting cross with the dog for licking herself too loudly and for hogging my heated blanket! There is no reason for me to feel this way, but its like I have baby blues before the baby! Is it hormones, or am I just being a moody cow? ;-)
Hopefully snow is melting where you all are. It looks like I should be able to get out of my driveway now, just about.

Twitchett22 · 03/03/2018 12:15

Anya I'm like that most of the time! Feel fine one minute then have an emotional breakdown because i cant get comfy on the sofa! I kept thinking it's a sign of labour but it's been happening for a couple of weeks now lol.
Due day today! Was going to go for a sweep but maternity really busy so they've asked if I'll go in tomorrow instead. Fingers crossed something starts before then!

Anya1981 · 03/03/2018 13:45

Oh no, twitchett, that can’t have been fun feeling like this all the time! It only started for me today, and right at the beginning of pregnancy, so I reckon hormones might be gearing up again. But then i’m So twitchy at the moment any new thing makes me think I’m going into labour 😉
Is it normal to have a sweep on due day, or did you ask for one? I’m due on Tuesday, and seeing midwife on Monday, so she’ll probably mention it. I would rather wait another week, I feel they got my dates in the scan a bit early and don’t want to rush this baby, if it’s not ready!
Fingers crossed something will start for you today...

Twitchett22 · 03/03/2018 13:59

I saw my mw at 38 weeks and she said ordinarily she'd see me on my due date but with it being a Saturday and there were no appointments until a few days after just ring labour ward and ask for a sweep if i want one. I have no idea if its normal ha she's not very good and didn't explain anything. I wasn't going to bother but im curious as to where babys lay, if I've started dilating etc so thought sod it I'll have one
