I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Thingy I was induced at 37 weeks, last time, it was due to preeclampsia. It was fine, unfortunately I failed to progress (story of my life 😩) and had an emcs. Which again was ok. I may be in the minority but gas and air made me high as a kite, so I was ok.
Mustang so close. Get eating spicy food and pineapple. Lots of nipple tweaking too, apparently. I suspect these are all old wives tales but I have a friend that swears she went into labour after dtd...with both her kids!
Batman I'm 18w3 and completely get the relapse. I'm in bed. Feel sick if I eat, sick if I don't. Hugs. Hope it goes away soon.

Hugs to all. Highlight of my day. Dog threw up, I threw up on the dog. It's going to be one of those days! Thankfully hubby is home and has bathed her but I swear she still smells of sick.

DeadDoorpost · 13/12/2017 18:09

thingy another one here whonwas losing weight during 3rd trimester still but wasn't induced because of it as it was gradual and baby was measuring fine.

Whoever was gulping the lactulose, kiwis also help as does drinking a tonne of water. (Its so far helped me poop after the birth. Water that is. Nothing else and it's been a miracle)

DH went back to work today. Wasn't too bad. Christopher has started to settle in the moses basket so I've managed to sleep a bit.

Cheering you all on. Sorry for those who are struggling. It honestly does get better!

And chippy chips are certainly the best. I want some now....

Natsku · 13/12/2017 18:36

Horrid day today :( All the stresses have been building up and then my phone broke today and that just tipped me over the edge and ended up having a panic attack and being very sick. All quite silly really as most of the stresses are not a problem really - OH is buying a new car on a monthly pay basis we can afford so car worries are over, he has reassured me he can ask several different people to look after DD when it's birthing time so there will be someone available at the time, he's getting a new work phone soon so I can have his old one when it arrives, but I guess pregnancy hormones combined with sickness just don't do rational thinking very well :(

Shehz21 · 13/12/2017 20:23

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement and cheering Pippa and Dead
Always great to hear from you ladies!
Dead glad to hear you are able to catch up with some Zzz's with your little one starting to settle in his moses basket. Get those chippy chips and enjoy them. You deserve it!Smile

Natsku My heart goes out to you really Sad
Pregnancy hormones must be raging and with bouts of nausea/sickness, no wonder you are not in a good stateSad Hope you are having a bearable evening and you wake up tomorrow being much more composed and relaxed.
Try to have an early night maybe along with a lovely massage from DH?
That's what I do whenever I feel like a day is already ruined by crazy pregnancy hormones and sickness.

Mustang Hope Mini Mustang 2 comes sooner than later!

Thinking of Amelia Blue hope she is recovering well and Baby blue is fine as well..

justtheonethen I know you are going through a really rough patch with the HG atm, hope you have better days awaiting aheadSmile

LucindaE · 13/12/2017 20:40

Lovely to hear from pippasnippa and DeadDoorPost.
Great advice from Oklahoma as ever.
Oh dear, about relapses, Bunnyfluffy and BATMAN and Spearo21. and Thingymaboob I wanted to urge, on inductions: Like others I had been losing weight (in my case, awful heartburn, but hardly ever vomiting) but as baby was flourishing, I wasn't induced for the weight loss. It was for loss of amniotic fluids. What I wanted to say was, don't let them give you sleeping pills (if they stilll do) if they have tried with a pessary once and did it late in the afternoon again, and things aren't hotting up at bedtime. I stupidly accepted one, and went into the labour room at 2pm or so in a haze.
Spearo21 That sounds awful, about that admission. I'm glad the steroid injections helped.
justtheone Sorry you were admitted. I am glad you felt so much better for it.
Mustang Poor you, still suffering. I do hope the sweep does it.
Natksu Hugs about tears.
Meadowhay You've had great advice from others about steroids.
Seize21 Much sympathy. I am sorry to say, I had to laugh about your scenario. Sad
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked. Watch me cross post.

I am glad OH bathed the dog.

Seize I don't know why I have been calling you 21 as in Shehz21! and Spearo21 Apologies.
Much sympathy as most people seems to be having a horrible time one way or another.
BATMAN I am glad that you are taking the rest of the week off.
Tell me that it wasn't horribly snowbound where you were struggling in to work? The snow has only just started to melt here in Mid Wales late this evening.

Yes it was quite snowy! Thankfully our adverse weather policy states that if you're pregnant you don't have to travel. I still did though Confused I'm on call all week so I don't want to let people down. I think I may have to call in sick tomorrow though

LucindaE · 13/12/2017 22:08

BATMAN Mother Hen flaps and clucks and says you and baby's health comes first. S*d it; stay in bed!

Hi ladies, I've been suffering for 2/3 weeks now. Went to the GP yesterday and got told I'd have to get worse before they'd admit me to hospital again. Fed up with not being able to keep anything down, even sips of water. Advice please?!

Natsku · 14/12/2017 06:46

Naughty Batman if you don't have to go in, don't go in!!

Oh dear Rocking if you're not keeping anything down, especially even sips of water then the hospital ought to admit you because you are most likely dehydrated, some GPs are just not up to date with the proper way to treat HG and still think women should just put up with it. Can you check your ketones with those ketostix thingies that you can get from the chemists? In the meantime, fizzy drinks stayed down for me when plain water wouldn't, and the sugar helps give you a bit of energy to cope a bit better. Or ice lollies, they're another good option that many here have benefited from.

I'm feeling much calmer today (took your advice Shehz and had an early night, though minus the massage as I think touch would have just made me too emotional again) but made an appointment with the GP because I need my meds sorted (although the nurse on the phone told me I can't make an emergency appointment just for the meds) but I also am having stabbing pains in my bladder and can't empty it properly so possibly a UTI (most likely just the position of the baby but possible UTI gets me an appointment so I went along with the possible UTI explanation).
Hadn't realised how dependent on smart phones I have become! I resisted getting one for many years, finally got one two years ago and now I feel completely bereft without it Grin The screen is cracked so I can't get past the lock screen but otherwise it's working so I can see that I've got a text message but can't read it which is driving me crazy!

LostInTheTunnelOfGoats · 14/12/2017 08:22

Hi all. Reading and laughing at the sick on the dog story- my cats have almost got it a few times!

I've got worse this past few days. Think it's as I suspected, as pregnancy progresses so will the HG. Ondanestron was keeping me from vomiting but now it's not. Still not as bad as it could be of course, but I felt so good at first when I took it and now I feel as though I've gone in reverse. I'm absolutely shattered.

justtheonethen · 14/12/2017 08:48

Rocking great advice by natsku, get some ketostix and rock up at a&e if they are 2+ or more. Word of warning though my hospital don't care unless it's 3+ but you may get a less ludicrous one!
To be honest if you haven't kept anything down for 24 hours the advice is a&e. You will inevitably have ketones if you haven't. Especially if urine is dark/tongue looks dry.
I would just go.

Lost get back to gp and get more meds, they can add in another as the combo sometimes does better than just one. Remember HG is an illness categorised by periods of recovery and relapse so this is (unfortunately) normal.

Natsku everything seems worse when you're ill, and pregnant. Be kind to yourself lovely.

Door glad C is sleeping in his basket and you're getting some sleep.
It was me with the lactulose, annoyingly I'm allergic to kiwi and I think I'm always at least a bit dehydrated Sad

Seize poor dog Grin

Spearo hurrah for induction date! Wish I only had three weeks! Tightenings sound scary Shock

Mustang . Come ON minimustang2!

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 14/12/2017 10:40

Lucinda and Natsku you're both right and it helps to hear it, so thank you. I've called in sick and am tucked up in bed.

Glad to hear you're having a better day natsku. I've tried many times to give up my smartphone habit but it's futile! How would I MN for a start??

Rocking that's awful for you Angry you've had some good advice, I hope they listen to you soon.

Lost I'm very similar tbh, if it helps. I find it hard to know when to stop as I've a tendency to plough on. It doesn't help. Hope you get some rest and feel better soon.

justtheonethen · 14/12/2017 10:45

Batman I'm so glad you're in bed. Don't try and struggle through a relapse. It will make it loads worse.

Natsku · 14/12/2017 10:48

Good thing I went to the GP as the information about my meds from the gynaecologist hadn't been put into the system so as far as the doctors were all aware, I couldn't have my medicine renewed so that's why it hadn't been sorted. I had the letter with me so I showed it to the doctor and now I have enough meds to last until the end (well if I don't go overdue). Think I had another panic attack though as I started getting chest pains when I was in the taxi on my way there, they did the EKG and whatnot and everything was fine so it must have been panic but I guess I just calmed down before it was full-blown (the nurse was very calming :) ). Haemoglobin hasn't gone up at all despite the iron but it also hasn't gone down so I guess it's not so bad, it's stable and above the level that would require IV iron or blood.

Glad you've called in sick Batman get yourself some rest. Snow is pretty deep here (19cm) and OH and his little brother made a big snow pile for DD to play on when she gets home from school Grin

justtheonethen · 14/12/2017 10:54

Loads of snow natsku! Chest pains sound scary, glad the nurse calmed you down. You sound like you need looking after, I just want to scoop you up and wrap you in a duvet!

Natsku · 14/12/2017 11:25

The nurse did tuck me in on the hospital bed with a blanket (she took me straight to a side room because I was bawling my eyes out) Grin

justtheonethen · 14/12/2017 12:08

You poor thing! She sounds lovely!

Mustang27 · 14/12/2017 13:03

@LucindaE new thread please 😱.

Thanks for the hugs just.

Oh dear poor dog Seize lol.

Panic attacks not great Nat but not that surprising considering. So glad you got a lovely nurse. It's nice to feel looked after.

Has anyone ever not gone for their sweep before? I'm not loving the idea.

Shehz21 · 14/12/2017 13:05

Oh so lovely to hear about sympathetic nurse Natsku. Real glad that you don't have to go through the fuss of getting your meds sorted out or struggling without the meds for sometime until you did get your hands on them!
You really don't need no more of all that stress until the end, hope that was your last panic attack and you get to relax until you reach the Pink CastleFlowers

justtheonethen I think you are officially in the 3rd trimester now right?!
Woop woopXmas Grin

Batman Glad you are resting up. This is all you really need right now.

Shehz21 · 14/12/2017 13:06

Mustang xpost!
1st pregnancy here so never had a sweep before but after reading loads of horror stories and hearing bout them from relatives, I have already made up my mind I won't have no sweep at all.
I hope I don't regret it..Xmas Hmm

justtheonethen · 14/12/2017 13:10

Tomorrow shehz! Whoop!

Got an appointment with consultant on Monday. Not sure what to ask for. I would like regular fluids but I don't think they will do that. Steroids I guess but they sound horrid.

Re sweeps- shehz why against them? I haven't really thought about them so interested.

Natsku · 14/12/2017 13:29

I never had a sweep with DD mustang, don't think they do them here. Sound like they're quite uncomfortable so rather glad I didn't get offered one!

What do hiccups feel like? I can't remember from last time but felt a regular popping-like movement earlier that went on for several minutes. Right up the top right of my belly so if it was hiccups that means baby has flipped round and is head up now, naughty baby!

LucindaE · 14/12/2017 14:45
