I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Natsku Aha it was you! Yes to being naked all day. I so wish that was possible. Frustrated with clothes and especially anything which puts even the tiniest bit of pressure on my waist. Hashtag free the nipple and everything else pregnant women version Xmas Envy

Natsku · 10/12/2017 15:25

I've had a bump since about 12 weeks this time!

Even though I can't be naked all day, I am definitely in no rush to get dressed after sauna as I'm so warm afterwards I'm fine with just a towel round me Grin

MeadowHay · 10/12/2017 17:15

I'm the same re: bras too Shehz. I hardly leave the house now so that's the only time I wear a bra briefly when I'm at docs or something. My boobs are visibly bigger than pre-pregnancy though, they're almost falling out of my bras but I'm trying to hold on longer til I buy some mat ones as I'm only 12 weeks so I'm imagining they will get significantly bigger and would struggle to afford to keep going back and buying new ones every time they get bigger eek.

Well DH has spent the last day or so trying to get in touch with his DM and DB to tell them the news but can get through to neither of them (not a surprise). Then he called his great aunt who also couldn't get through to, so then he ended up calling his auntie so she's the first person on his side of the family to find out the news. Not ideal but knowing his DB and DM it could be literally weeks before they deigned to call back or answer their phones and we are excited and want to share our news! She was basically just in shock about it but then once she'd processed it seemed quite happy haha. Although she did ask if it was planned which I thought was very rude!! Shock I know she didn't mean to be rude but still, what a personal question...

It is giving me a bit of cheer to spread the news and get positive reactions though. She is coming over tomorrow with her youngest who is 14 so it will be nice to finally see someone else too. She clearly didn't understand about the HG but maybe will get it better when she actually sees me looking like death...

Having a bad day so far, haven't kept anything down since last night but just ate a piece of toasted bread with some smoked cheese so fingers crossed...I can't eat any cheese atm except smoked cheese, how weird is that?! Confused

Natsku I've still never ever been in a sauna Shock. Must go one day post-baby.

LucindaE · 10/12/2017 17:29

Natsku Are individual suanas common over there?
I sympathize with people about the horror of waistbands. You could get hold of long flowing dresses back in the 90's when I have my daughter, and they were comfortable.
I am concerned at the though of those who are facing a commute tomorrow in this snow.

MeadowHay I do get a bit annoyed on hearing of relatives who behave as if they expect you to be normal! But was glad to read of an aunt further back, who had actually heard of Hyperemesis.

Almost every house has a sauna here lucinda I've only lived in two flats that didn't have their own ones but had a shared one for the building.

LostInTheTunnelOfGoats · 10/12/2017 18:29

I managed to eat half of a gravy chip last night. I actually really wanted it, and practically snatched it out of DH's hands. So there we go, chippy chips are a yes for me. Can't believe it didn't come back up. I've run out of my tablets though so will have a fab time tomorrow until DH can get to the clinic

Ooh, saunas everywhere must be so nice Natsku!

No snow here, every where else has it but we're right by the shore and it won't lie

Natsku · 10/12/2017 18:45

Ooo I really want chippy chips now!

scottishem · 11/12/2017 08:08

At my GTT test. I've had to fast since 10pm and can't drink anything other than plain water (which I've hated since being pregnant).
Feel so sickkk having an empty stomach Sad we'll see if I can even keep the glucose drink down Confused

Mustang27 · 11/12/2017 08:31

Good luck @scottishem it's bloody grim. Some hospitals can let you have a bed and just lay there for the two hrs if you are really struggling.

Natsku · 11/12/2017 08:32

Good luck!

justtheonethen · 11/12/2017 08:40

Poor you Scottish mine is in January and I'm dreading it. As mustang says can you ask for a bed? Are you allowed to take meds? That's what I'm worrying about.

scottishem · 11/12/2017 08:46

I was shocked at how much you have to drink! Had a good heave but managed to keep it down. The thought of having to go back and do it all again helped!
I took my cyclizine but I would double check about other meds.
Theyve let me have a big cosey reclining chair which is nice. Now just 2 hours to kill!

justtheonethen · 11/12/2017 08:46

Well done! Try and snooze?

Natsku · 11/12/2017 09:52

Ooo lucky you getting a cosy reclining chair! Have a little nap if you can, or listen to some music to distract you.

Feeling very acidy today which sucks but my sickness is improving again so I think I'm getting past that 30 week regression at last.

Natsku · 11/12/2017 09:55

Have a weird looking rash on my belly, red and spotty, think it's from scratching because it's been so itchy.

Kitcat159 · 11/12/2017 11:18

Hey everyone
Been told to check out this thread as I'm really suffering with nausea :(
I'm 8 weeks at the moment. I have a phobia of vomiting and will avoid it at all costs normally.
I am really nauseous constantly and have been for 2 weeks. Basically been crying in bed, being sick, crying some more....repeat.
Baby is kicking my butt!
Hardly eaten and hardly drinking as every mouthful makes me retch.
Saw my dr on Friday and he said I needed to be admitted as I had not pee'd for 16 hours and I was dizzy but he let me go home under the condition if I don't pee within 2 hours I go to a&e.

How are you lot dealing with the nausea and exhaustion? It's knocking me for six!
Work are getting funny with me as I have had 18 days off sick this year (2 last week for pregnancy sickness and I was signed off with stress in october)

I don't get paid for sick so I can't really stay home.
Also I'm terrified of throwing up at work as everyone will hear and see my sobbing after. Only my manager knows about baby. Going to tell everyone after Christmas once I have had my scan.

Kitcat159 · 11/12/2017 11:19

Ah sorry about the long post. Didn't look that long when I was typing Grin

justtheonethen · 11/12/2017 12:16

Kitcat welcome, sorry you need the thread! Did your gp give you any medication? Most of us have had to accept we can't work, I don't get paid either and it's really putting a strain on us financially.
The early days are awful, I spent them much as you are, crying in bed. To be honest I do a fair bit of that now but it's not as relentless.
Get to the gp for meds if you're not on them and don't underestimate how amazing a few bags of fluid will make you feel if you're admitted.
Otherwise try and stay hydrated- ice lollies/sips of anything you think you can keep down will help.

Natsku is it you with OC? If not maybe get that checked out?

justtheonethen · 11/12/2017 12:17

Also 30 week regression natsku? Fuck, I haven't yet got over the 20 week one and I'm 27 weeks. The 30 week one should take me nicely to delivery Sad

Kitcat159 · 11/12/2017 12:28

@justtheonethen docs gave me some tablet but said they are "untested" so take them at my own risk. Told DH and he said I'm not to take them. They are citrazine or something like that

justtheonethen · 11/12/2017 12:40

They will be cyclizine and they are perfectly safe. God GPs give bad advice. Read up on the treatments on the PSS website and make up your own mind. In my experience I would have died without them so even if they were a bit risky it was better than me dying or terminating my 4 years ttc ivf pregnancy. As it is they are safe. The only slight risk is with steroids before 12 weeks and there is so much to try before then.
Ultimately all drugs are untested in pregnancy as it wouldn't be ethical to drug trial on pregnant woman. There are plenty of studies though that have failed to find any link with the anti emetics and feral development.

Sorry massive rant but it pisses me off that there is this scaremongering.

Fetal obviously not feral Blush

Here is the cyclizine info.

Natsku · 11/12/2017 12:53

Hi Kitcat definitely take the meds, they are as safe as can be said about meds for pregnant women (as they can't do trials on pregnant women so safety is judged by the fact that thousands and thousands of women have used these meds over the last few decades without problems). Direct your DH to the pregnancy sickness support website so he can understand better, same with your GP!!

Pretty sure it's not OC Just as it's just on my belly but I'm going to mention it to the midwife on Monday when I have my next appointment, unless it gets worse, then I'll call earlier. And yeah, hate to break it to you but there's a 30 week one :(

In positive news, managed to snag a big bundle of baby clothes and bedding for 4 euros on Finnish ebay alternative! Grin Also got a smaller bundle of about 15 vests and several leggings for 1,50e!

Shehz21 · 11/12/2017 13:10

Dreading my GTT test tomorrow.. Sad
Really sick today on top of that..
No energy to write more..
