I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Elephant yes she did. But it took many appointments and wasn't agreed until about 36 weeks so was quite stressful.

MeadowHay · 11/12/2017 21:10

Well I got a new visitor today which was nice - DH's aunt and 14 yr old cousin came to see me for a bit. She also brought us a second-hand Xmas tree complete with full set of decorations that apparently had just been living in her loft for a few years, which was cool, and DH is currently putting it all together now - taking ages as it's one where you have to like stick all the individual branches in if you get me. I can't help as I've got horrid dizziness from my AD withdrawal so I'm sitting here DJing Xmas songs and giving him encouragement Grin.

I also ate an entire massive jacket potato with tons of cheese, in two parts over about two hours, which is a huge first. I was soo hungry but now I feel soo sick...I think I will take an extra ondansetron as soon as I can and pray it stays down, eek.

Natsku Wow, that is so far away. Do you live in a rural-ish area? It takes about 20minutes in taxi for us to the mat hospital.

Natsku · 12/12/2017 06:44

On a related note a girl I went to school with had twins. On was born in England and one was born in Scotland.

If Scotland does get independence they could end up with different citizenships!

Meadow I live in a small town, used to have it's own hospital with a maternity unit but the maternity unit closed years ago and then the whole hospital closed a couple of years ago so we have to go to the nearest city to give birth. My mum lived in rural Lapland but was only 30k away from the nearest hospital but that hospital no longer has a maternity unit (as I found out when I was on holiday there while pregnant with DD and started having contraction-like pains, had to be transferred in an ambulance to Rovaniemi) - people there now need to travel very far to give birth, it's really bad.

Shehz21 · 12/12/2017 09:07

GTT test = HG sufferer nightmare.

I had to try really hard not to throw up all over the nurses...Sad

Sat here feeling miserable. I hate this.

Natsku · 12/12/2017 10:20

:( it's horrid

justtheonethen · 12/12/2017 10:34

Oh shehz Sad.** Hope you get through ok. Poor you.

I'm thinking I need to go in for fluids. Not keeping anything down again. Need to check keytones....

scottishem · 12/12/2017 10:47

I feel your pain @Shehz21 its a really horrible experience for HG sufferers it will be over soon though! We got free tea, biccys and sandwiches afterwards.

That's me signed off sick from work until after Christmas. Could no longer deny the fact that it was work making me much much worse and the added stress they had put on me in the past 2 weeks with my spd definately made me worse.

Natsku · 12/12/2017 10:48

Oh dear just if you're not keeping anything down then you most likely need fluids no matter what level your ketones are at.

Natsku · 12/12/2017 10:50

Glad you got signed off scottish rest is the best thing right now

BunnyFluffy · 12/12/2017 12:25

Just checking in to say hi. Sorry I have not been managing to read the whole thread as very busy at work after all the time I was really sick.

I'm 17 weeks today and celebrated the start of 17 weeks with a vomit this morning. However I did survive Sat, Sun and Mon with no vomits which was nice!

Flowers to everyone

LucindaE · 12/12/2017 14:10

Shez I hope you got through it without vomiting. Sad
Much sympathy over relapse, Bunnyfluffy. Mother Hen flaps and clucks about your going back to work. I hope the commute hasn't been too awful in this weather.

Cheering all on waddling up the drawbridge of the Pink Castle as Shez says...

justtheonethen I hope your ketones weren't too high?

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 12/12/2017 16:42

Hi everyone, hope you're all successfully plodding on...

I'm struggling here a bit. Had s good few weeks but definitely relapsing now. 17+6 today and think I may need to take the rest of the week off sick and rest. Am vomiting despite the ondansetron and cyclazine, which previously stopped the vom but did little for the nausea. Hey ho.

thingymaboob · 12/12/2017 16:59

Hi guys, got an obstetrician appointment Thursday to discuss induction as lost weight in 3rd trimester. Has anyone been inducted because of HG? I'm not doing too bad. Shall I hang on? I've come this far! 36 weeks now!

Shehz21 · 12/12/2017 19:50

Thanks ladies for the mental support this morning. Left the clinic at 11:30 and had some chinese takeaway, was starving! Never doing this ever again ughEnvy

Bunny and Batman sorry about the relapse.. hope it doesn't stick around for long.

justtheonethen Hope you went in and are feeling much better now after getting the fluids.

thingymaboob no advice here unfortunately but yay for being in the last leg!

justtheonethen · 12/12/2017 20:24

So glad you got through it shehz! I did go in, feel better for fluids and they have referred me to a consultant with the aim of trying steroids or getting regular fluids. Ketones weren't too bad, 2+.

Thingy sorry no advice. Like shehz says though hurrah for last stretch!

Batman stay in bed!

justtheonethen · 12/12/2017 20:24

Came home and had a chip butty too. Bloody magic!

Mustang27 · 12/12/2017 20:31

Arrggghhh 39 weeks why is this shit show still going SadSadso bloody depressed.

I'm jealous thingy but I'd be more inclined to not allow it at 36 weeks but I'd take it now lol.

Sorry for everyone else struggling.

MeadowHay · 12/12/2017 21:10

Oh just you poor thing, but glad you got the fluids you need.

Mustang You are sooo close now, just a final push...

Sorry to hear you are feeling grim again Batman Sad.

Does anyone know if I could convince anyone to try me with steroids if I'm still this unwell in a fortnight or so? I think they won't because the ondansetron is keeping me out of hospital, but that's only because I'm spending my life sitting in one place unable to do anything/go anywhere as movement makes me vomit more, and it's this awful restrictive boring life that is making me miserable. But I don't want to like actively make myself more ill by going about and pushing myself just for them to take me seriously...so fed up Sad.

Oklahoma · 13/12/2017 06:42

Thingy I got induced early for the same reason (prolonged HG and weight loss in 3rd trim). Remind me if this is your first? I would allow if second child but not if first.

Oklahoma · 13/12/2017 06:42

Happy for you to PM me if you want to discuss it

pippanippa · 13/12/2017 07:41

Hi everyone, I've been lurking in the background, hope you're all doing ok. thingy they discussed early induction for me when they thought baby was small, but at the growth scan found out she was doing just fine so let things carry on. I was losing weight still, but this didn't seem a concern as baby was getting what it needed. Have they offered another scan to see how the baby is doing? Induction is a tricky decision, it's obviously necessary in lots of cases, but can make for a very different birth experience. I'd ask lots of questions so you can make an informed decision. Having said all that I was offered induction at 40 weeks and turned it down and then went too overdue so had to have one anyway...babies are unpredictable. Keep going everyone, you're doing an amazing job just waking up each morning!

justtheonethen · 13/12/2017 08:52

Meadow I think they would want to try a few combos first- ondansetron and metoclopromide for example. They have with me. Steroids have only just been mentioned but hopefully you will have a more on the ball team! Steroids won't be used until after 12 weeks too. No harm in asking for a referral to a consultant- I don't think gp will do it.

Mustang27 · 13/12/2017 09:21

Oh just hugs my love. You really deserve a wee break and you are always so supportive of everyone on the thread whilst you struggle so much.

Haha Meadow i wish I was on that final push. I was just really angry and annoyed last night. Not a good way to induce labour as adrenaline/cortisol prevents labour. You need to be zen and full of oxytocin supposedly lol. That is not me at the mo. Steroids have shitty side effects and I think they just would rather avoid but that's all good and well for them to say when they aren't the ones suffering.

Sorry thingy I didn't mean to be so flippant. Do what you feel is right and Pippa and Oklahoma have experience of induction I don't so likely speaking out of turn. Listen to them.

Iv got a sweep on the 19th so I'm hoping that's all it takes lol.

spearo21 · 13/12/2017 10:36

Ah Mustang I hope all goes well with your sweep on the 19th!!! Fingers crossed baba is here quickly!

I posted last week or the week before thinking that I was out of the HG hell. How bloody wrong I was!!!!! Total relapse from Saturday. I had tried new medication to try and bring my liver levels down for my Obsetetric Cholestasis and I thought it was that that was making me ill but it was just good ol' HG! I actually ended up in hospital on Sunday morning because I was having tightenings from Saturday night into Sunday accompanied by a lot of pain in lower abdomen and back, was thinking I was in pre-term labour, wahhhhh! Phoned Triage and they told me to get in asap but I ended up having to get fluids on top of being monitored because I was so dehydrated again. The tightenings stopped by Sunday afternoon and I got examined and cervix is closed, yay! but just been so sick still. Had to get Steroid injections (OUCH BTW) to help mature babies lungs if he decides to come early and I've just had random bursts of sickness since then. I just got out of hospital yesterday though and just feeling so bloody tired and I feel so sick again today. 34 weeks today though and I have my induction date booked now for 3/1/18 so just 3 weeks today!! I cannot wait to see the end of this pregnancy!!!
