I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi all waves I’ve been silently lurking, signed off from work, and vomiting since week 8, am now 13+5. I know everyone feels various degrees of appalling and I wouldn’t wish HG on my worst enemy, but I’ve found it such a reassurance knowing there are others in the same boat as me.

I’ve tried prochlorperazine (buccastem and stemitil), cyclizine and metachlopramide with little joy - today my GP finally prescribed me ondansetron and I wondered if anyone could give me an idea of the side effects I should expect? I had a terrible time on metachlopramide, with shakes, muscle spasms and terrible anxiety and am slightly terrified of a repeat of this!

Natsku · 30/11/2017 13:56

Constipation Guinea! Get some lactulose now to mitigate it somewhat and any constipation friendly foods/drinks you can tolerate

Guineapiggiesmalls · 30/11/2017 14:31

Thank you Natsku. I’ll, eh, look forward to that! Lactulose goes on my shopping list.

MeadowHay · 30/11/2017 15:48

I have caught up but I'm rubbish at remembering stuff as my short-term memory is poor cos of dyslexia so please forgive for the people I forget...

Natsku Thinking of you, your brother, and your family and wishing him all the best Flowers.

Thanks for everyone's comments re: that crap GP I spoke to. Spoke to a different one today who did my sick note for me but didn't actually tell me how long he has written it for and I was too anxious to ask Blush. Will get DH to collect it for me on Saturday morning so I will find out then I guess Hmm.

I am managing to eat more and a better variety of foods but a lot of it still comes back up later, bleurgh. Still at least hopefully some of the nutrients will be absorbed so it's better than before I guess.

DGPig is still very sick unfortunately, he's been in and out of the vets all the last few days Sad. DH has been syringe-feeding him every few hours and he's on twice-daily antibiotics. On the plus side his weight was stable this morning at the vets and he actually wheeked for his pellets for the first time in days (although he only managed to actually eat 2, God bless him!). DH is out at work all day tomorrow so I had to learn to syringe feed him but I think I can do it now. My parents are coming to spend the day with me tomorrow so I am not alone and my dad is great with sick animals so he can help me too. Just praying that he will continue to recover, it's heart-breaking to see him so sick Sad.

I can't remember who it was who said about their DH having depression and working long hours and feeling like a burden. I know what you mean about the feeling like a burden part. It must be really tough for the two of you atm Flowers.

Guinea Yeah, horrendous constipation, so eat whatever fruit/fibrous things you can stomach and really try and get as much fluid in you as possible. I know that might seem impossible atm though, it was for me for a couple of weeks Sad.

Last but not least, a big congrats to DeadDoor on the birth of her beautiful baby boy!! Flowers

Mustang27 · 30/11/2017 15:56

I got headaches, dizzy spells, severe constipation and my digestive system came pretty much to a halt. Some used metoclopramide to contend with the last point but that's not an option for you guinea. Try everything with the constipation so if you can stomach prunes, kiwis and try and drink enough water it's not easy. Good luck.

Hey Shehz hanging in there. Sorry about the vomming sesh between mumsnet iv lost many an interesting reply due to that lol.

Oh no Sieze I recall you mentioning your gig that's bloody miserable you are missing it Sad. Your consultant was a twunt I did g want to say as much. Aww loving the idea of your wee one thinking the cats preggers. Mini is so nonchalant about vomit he just says mummy sick and continues about your business.

Sally an operation goodness you have had it rough. How are you healing? Glad baby is ok.

Hope things are going ok Nat.

Mustang27 · 30/11/2017 16:01

Massive xpost meadow sorry.

I hope your piggie continues to get better small pets are really hard to get better as normally by the time they show symptoms they are so far on. Curse of being prey animals Sad. You are not a burden though you are growing his baby and yours of course so keep focusing on that.

Sorry about the dr woes some are so hard to deal with.

Natsku · 30/11/2017 16:10

Poor guinea pig :( hope he gets better soon

Appeal is over now, decision comes early next year probably, but I am fairly confident as I think it went well.

DeadDoorpost · 30/11/2017 16:23

Hi ladies, I just wanted to say thank you for keeping me company on this horrible HG journey.
The birth was very quick. Contractions started at 3am Tuesday but didn't register what they were for an hour. By 5am I was already having regular 12 min apart contractions lasting for over a minute. Once I stood up and got out of bed though they quickly went to every 7 minutes for about a minute. I violently threw up during 4 back to back contractions at some point I was in so much pain. Finally got to the hospital after some confusion at 9cm dilated and within an hour I had given birth. So first one in the new birth centre there.
I honestly don't remember anything of the Labour except the feeling of the umbilical cord between my legs as I had a strange reaction to the gas and air. The whole thing was done on no sleep and nothing in my stomach as I'd thrown it all up.
Ended up with some stitches done under a spinal as my body refused to let them examine me on the gas and air. It just kept shutting down. No bad stitches and I've not had difficulty passing urine so it's all good.

I'm glad to say that the sickness stopped as soon as I'd given birth and that I've had my appetite come back full force. We still don't know when my waters broke though.

Have another photo of Christopher, and thank you all again.

Good luck to everyone else still going, and know it's not forever.
pippa good luck with the induction!

Natsku · 30/11/2017 16:30

So glad the sickness has gone straight away for you Dead
He looks so adorable there, I just want to cuddle him!!

justtheonethen · 30/11/2017 17:45

dead he's so gorgeous! You look so happy. I'm so glad you're sick free now! Enjoy every moment. I'm all teary Flowers

Natsku will be thinking of you and your brother.

Guinea welcome! I think it's reassuring to know others are there too. Get ready for horrendous constipation as the others have said. Lactulose religiously else you will be crying on the loo bitter experience.

Meadow so pleased you got another note. Keeping everything crossed for your piggie Flowers

Shehz how is the pelvis? Any luck finding help?

Lucinda I know! She was a total breath of fresh air and as someone said I hope the med student took note!

Seize can you not ask for ondansetron. It's the total nuts and I dread to think how you must feel off it considering how shit I feel ok it still!
Love the cat story!

Sally you poor thing! I hope you're ok Flowers

Gennz higher dosage? I take 8mg three times a day.

Bad day here, again. Fed up. Tired. Tearful.
Did get DH to pick up a changing table I bought on facebook. It's a mamas and papas one and we got it for £45. Obviously second hand but in great condition. Love me a bargain!

DeadDoorpost · 30/11/2017 18:11

Oh Natsku! How did everything go with your brother? I've been out of the loop. I did read your article and saw briefly that your said the firstvday went well in court. Amy update? I know how i would be if my Asperger brother was in his position. It must be horrible waiting for a verdict! Good luck with it all

scottishem · 30/11/2017 18:31

@DeadDoorpost he is absolutely gorgeous x

Didnt even get my meeting today!! Bosses made every effort to avoid me all day so I drove straight to Human Resources offices today to lodge a complaint. They were pretty shocked at how I'de been treated and the head of health and safety even said "jesus christ its like they want us to be sued" so no doubt once bosses get a call of HR tomorrow I will be the most hated person in the building but they can F right off!
Also said that they make me feel guilty everytime I take a day off for my HG and she was very apologetic. Acas and Maternity Action were really good at giving advice.

scottishem · 30/11/2017 18:31

Also @LucindaE my due date is 22nd March Smile

justtheonethen · 30/11/2017 18:38

That sounds positive Scottish. Annoying you had to go about it that way though.

LucindaE · 30/11/2017 18:49

Guineapiggismalls Welcome. How is that for synchronicity, when Meadowhay''s guinea pig is ill? I am always going on about the strange co-incidences in every day life. You were evidently one of those who react badly to meto, I'm glad they've got you on Ondansetron now. You've already had great advice from Natsku Mustang and others about infamous side effects. Do you find re drinks and food (of a sort) that the following are any good. Flat full sugar coke, ice lollies, the juice of tinned fruit, sips of chocolate milkshake, Dr Pepper, Elderflower water, soda water, fizzy orange or orange squash? Also, cuppa soup, nibbles of crisps or chips, cheap ice cream, jelly, tinned fruit (esp. peaches and pears) slices of melon or mango and a new one from Mustang kiwi fruit. A truly horrendous diet. Well, the fruit isn't so bad. Some swear by custard, too...
Natsku I am glad it looks optimistic.
DeadDoorPost What a lovely photo. [smile ] I am so glad that the sickness went at once - that is the case for all but the honoured few - Wink whom it loves so it can't bear to leave. I am so glad too, that this thread helped you through the awful experience.
scottishem Well done on your action. I admire your attitude. I'm glad HR took your side. The behaviour of those managers was awful.
I've added you.
Shehz21 When did NonStopDisco have her baby? Has she said on here and I stupidly missed it or was it another thread?
Meadhowhay Poor guinea pig. Join the club; I am dyslexic too!
Mustang Those side effects sound nasty. How are you and how is everyone? I hope we hear from pippasnippa soon.

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay. I haven't had chance to catch up on the thread so apologies in advance, but I will catch up soon I promise! I just wanted to let you know that I am sitting here cuddling my lovely baby girl who was induced yesterday morning and born just a few hours after we arrived at the hospital. Things were very quick and quite intense due to the induction, but we're both doing fine. She is not the small baby they expected, and is over 8lb, so you were all right when you said not to worry about IUGR!! No trace of sickness and I can now stop the GD diet too, so aside from a little heartburn and the usual post birth stuff I am a normal human being again. i just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for keeping me going over the last 9 months and of course to Lucinda for running this thread. It has been so nice speaking to people who get it. This will definitely be our last baby, two is enough for us, but just wanted to say, keep going everyone, one day at a time, I promise you'll get there in the end!!!!

TwoDrifters · 30/11/2017 19:51

Congratulations pippa and well done! Flowers

Shehz21 · 30/11/2017 20:02

scottishem Due date buddies! LovelyGrin
So glad for you that you will get the treatment you deserve and I am sure you won't be the most hated person love but if they do act hostile towards you, they are really just a bunch of shitheads who deserve to get vom on at every occasionAngry

Guinea Welcome. You have found your people and I do not react well to metoclopromide as well. I feel it even gets me depressed iyswimConfused
Goodluck with the Ondansetron, seems to be the most popular with HG sufferers and loads of people have benefited from it.

justtheonethen I did have an appointment with a private physio today which is 45 mins away from home but woke up really sick today and couldn't face a journey of 45 mins pathetic really . I can really understand how bad it must have been 4 bloody hours for you!
So sorry you still feeling horrid.
Hope you are recover soon from the fatigue and general unwellness since that journeyFlowers
P.S I am on facebook market everyday checking stuff to get for baby, its so tempting it's driving me nuts (excellent condition stuff at a good price!). But DH is always gently reminding me to wait for until after the baby shower before I buy anything off fb market in case I get doubles of stuff.
Have had my eye on an Angelcare baby monitor and really wanna get that. Also the Next To Me Chicco which someone is selling in excellent condition at £100. A brilliant bargain i don't wanna lose!

Lucinda She did have a quick check in to report Baby Disco was here on this thread itself Grin

Dead Awwwww :')
You both look so content and your wee Christopher is so so adorable,I just can't get over him! 😍
Absolutely delighted to hear sickness is gone for you and you are being able to enjoy your new journey of motherhood!

Meadow Hope your DGpig recovers soon.
It must be such a worrisome time for you.
Glad to hear about the sick note being sorted out though and hope your GP has been good and given you a good amount of time off.

Mustang Not long to go?! Woop woop!
Did you go early with Mini Mustang 1?

Shehz21 · 30/11/2017 20:05

Pippa OMGGGG! I promise I am 22 but I am like prancing around like a 14 year old teen right now!
So so happy for you!!!
CongratulationsFlowersStar

P.S : Hope the heartburn disappears quickly.

LucindaE · 30/11/2017 20:34

pippasnippa Wonderful news. A fine size, too. Flowers Star. Brew Cake. I hope you and DeadDoorPost and everyone who has recently reached the Pink Castle can check in now and again on the thread.
Seize You are right! Fancy me forgetting that - NonStopDisco's was an eight pounder, too, and I commented on it. I am obviously getting vague. I hope the pain is a bit better for you.
Much sympathy for all suffering.
TwoDrifters I hope you are OK?
Waves to all. Much sympathy to all those feeling foul.

Congrats on your births ladies!!!

seizethecuttlefish · 30/11/2017 20:50

Whoop whoop pippa. Congrats.
just going to call the dr tomorrow and insist on it. I just can't function. I can't see a reason not to prescribe it. I used to like my dr but he's just being a complete c0ck about this. I've read the nice guidelines and the medical study from Denmark (I think), nothing actually documents any issues. I suspect he's going to be obtuse and insist I go to the hospital or similar. I agreed with the consultant that I would try coming off it, I tried and I'm back to square one. No way I'm making it back to work on Monday. So that'll be me into my third month off.

justtheonethen · 30/11/2017 21:49

Seize I agree, he's being a total cock. Good luck.

Shehz ooh I know. It's too tempting! My baby shower isn't until Feb so I can't wait until then! From my extensive research I wouldn't worry, I have seen a few next to me cribs and monitors come up.
Sorry you're feeling shit too Sad. Hope you get to an appointment soon, 45 mins is a killer though when feeling like this so not at all pathetic.

Pippa!!!!!!! Hurrah! Congratulations! Star

justtheonethen · 30/11/2017 21:50

Also seize, try not to worry about work. I know it's hard but you have to put yourself first.
