I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Blue he is truly beautiful he has such lovely eyes. I hope the sickness stops for you soon.

Door you must be so fed up. I hope your baby comes soon.

Lucinda thank you for supporting us even though it was so many years since you went through it. I imagine the dismissiveness would be hard to forget. I feel so lucky that I have been believed and able to get treatment.

imreallyaunicorn · 22/11/2017 21:20

Already got cyclizine and metaclopromide as I got the meds’ in advance this time. Last time I ended up with ondansetron as well:(

justtheonethen · 22/11/2017 21:29

unicorn have you started taking them?

Emu31 · 22/11/2017 22:35

Thank you Shehz you are right, excitement will hopefully overtake anxiety soon - it's definitely growing as time goes on and things feel more real. The stronger baby emu's kicks get the more real he seems. In the meantime I will keep buying baby things to try and feel more organised and ready. Just bought a caboo on ebay!

Come on baby door, time for you to make your entrance to the world!

wwwwwwwwwwwwww · 22/11/2017 22:56

Emu31 I love my baby carrier still using my ergo baby 360 Smile

DeadDoorpost · 22/11/2017 23:59

shehz I hope you have better luck than me aha.

I'm hoping something will happen but at the same time, considering this is my first, I'm now slightly nervous about the birth when it eventually happens. DH has been massaging a horrible pain in my lower back where I've not been able to stretch it out and it's driving me crazy.
And I may be having mild contractions but I honestly cannot tell so not getting my hopes up. I could be in for the longhaul 😂😂😭😭😭

DeadDoorpost · 23/11/2017 00:01

Sorry, just going back over some messages I somehow missed.

unicorn glad to know you've got some meds already and hopefully you'll catxh it before it becomes too bad. Fingers crossed for you that you won't suffer too badly.
mustang Its not even a case of wanting him here I'm just so totally ready to stop being pregnant and have my body back. DH is definitely more excited for a baby than I ever have or will be.

Shehz21 · 23/11/2017 00:13

justtheonethen Yes much better since past couple of days though still taking my medecines. Not even tried weaning off when feeling better. Always resulted in bad evening vomits followed by bad days.
Did you already get the crib/cotbed?
I am checking out the Chicco Next To Me (lack of option due to limited space)and wondering if its worth it at £158 down from £188.
Enjoying the sales atm too! Grin

Door Yeah I am far from imagining the birth and it's my first as well. Baby Shehz will be born soon after my 23rd birthday and I keep telling DH this is not where I imagined myself when turning 23....
I am grateful and happy but the thought of having a little baby to care for at this point of my life seems so unrealistic.. But then again I love babies so kind of looking forward to the cuddles and baby smell. poo aside

Emu31 Do make the most of the good bargains you manage to get for Black Friday/Christmas and Boxing day sales! I personally really enjoy baby shopping. Another vote for the caboo! Okay getting it for sure now Grin

Natsku · 23/11/2017 07:34

Don't blame you for being nervous dead it's surely very close now! I'm a bit anxious about the whole giving birth thing even though I've done it before (maybe because I have done it before!), midwife gave me a 'birth fears' questionnaire to fill out, it has some weird questions on it like "Have you ever thought that giving birth is somehow unnatural?" Confused

A few minutes ago I laughed while drinking tea, which made me choke on it then puke :(

DeadDoorpost · 23/11/2017 07:44

Oh dear lol natsku that's not good.

Well, I'm awake but not because of impending labour. The fire alarm for our flats went off at 5:30 this morning and I've not been able to get back to sleep. We had to call the fire brigade because we couldn't get hold of the alarm company so they checked everything then phoned them. Thankfully this time they responded. But me, the pregnant woman, was left to sort it all out. The other residents just stayed indoors as it was a false alarm.
And we had some bad family news too so DH is a bit upset but he's gone off to work and told me how to contact him if I need him.
Still getting some niggles but not much at all. Hot water bottle with me to help me try and get back to sleep... 😴😴😴

Mustang27 · 23/11/2017 08:53

Sorry Natsku but I lolled at that, that’s the sort of shit I do all the time not fun.

Oh Dead I’m so sorry about the news not what you need. You will be fine it’s perfectly natural at any age and whatever baby you are on to question how ready you are for it. Just look at it this way by the time baby door is 20 you will be 43 women are starting their families then you and dh will be going on nice holidays and just enjoying each other it sounds bliss to me.

Thank you ladies for helping me with the ranitidine I shall not be taking 600mg as dosage suggests Shock il maybe do the half a tablet as they are a chalky one like paracetamol so might help but I think they did help with acid yesterday as it’s the first night iv not woken in pain due to it for awhile.

Sorry Unicorn you feel your self going down the hg route again. Take meds and dw if you end up having to be on stronger I’d say vast majority of us have had too to get any relief.

Natsku · 23/11/2017 08:54

Sorry about the bad family news and annoying fire alarm. Though that does remind me, need to check our fire alarms work. Hope you get back to sleep.

Have ordered the caboo now, plus a bunch of other stuff with my gift card. Ordered a tens machine as it was on sale and works out cheaper to buy one than hire one here - can then sell it afterwards :) And a tie-dye kit, going to make some psychedelic baby vests!

justtheonethen · 23/11/2017 08:57

shehz oh god no, I'm not cutting down on meds yet. If I'm even an hour late taking them I throw up so I think it's being controlled by the meds rather than getting better. I won't even consider cutting down until I have a few weeks of feeling ok. My doctor agrees.
I have been given a Moses basket and a rocking crib. If I could choose I would have a snuzpod or the Chicco next to me. Seems a waste not to try those though for me. I would look on the facebook selling sites as they will be much cheaper (about £60-70) and just get a new mattress? Most likely they will have been used for a short time only.

door ugh that sounds annoying to sort out. Hope your niggles are it!

natsku sorry your tea was out to get you!

Birth you say? la la la la la

justtheonethen · 23/11/2017 09:00

Sorry about the bad news door, missed that.

natsku psychedelic baby vests sound fun, you must post a picture!

mustang hurrah for not waking up acidy. Ranitidine is a lifesaver!

Woke up feeling sicky but not been sick. Baby kicking merrily away at the cat who is leaning on the bump. Cat looks unimpressed.

Mustang27 · 23/11/2017 09:32

Natsku tie dye baby vests sound brilliant.

Just I have the Chico next to me we ended up just co-sleeping but for the first 6 weeks or so it was brilliant.

On the meds front I’m 36 weeks and feel no where near well enough to stop them I’d end up back in hospital without for sure. I’d say unless you feel totally normal keep taking them.

pippanippa · 23/11/2017 09:35

Sorry about the bad news deaddoor, and the choking vomit Shehz, it's awful. My low point was choking whilst vomiting a chocolate chip muffin alone in the toilet of a premier inn hotel room, whilst of course simultaneously wetting myself. I just couldn't help but think this would be the least glamorous way to go out. It surpassed an earlier sweetcorn vomit choking episode - stupid sweetcorn. Glad you got the ranitidine sorted Mustang.

Awful night here, up at 2am vomiting, then the acid kept me awake all night in spite of the ranitidine and gaviscon. We have all come down with another cold and our little girl is now very poorly and cranky. No sign of baby, but to be honest that's probably for the best right now, we all need a few days to get better. Looks more and more likely that forcible eviction will be required, but we'll see.

Blue so sorry to hear you're still feeling poorly, I really hope it lifts for you soon. What an absolutely beautiful baby you have though Smile

pippanippa · 23/11/2017 09:36

Arg, sorry, it was natsku who choked on the tea not Shehz! Hope you're doing ok Shehz.

justtheonethen · 23/11/2017 09:45

Yes that's why I'll probably just stick with what I have for now mustang, I might not like them and get something else but I might not need to.

I'm definitely not well enough to stop meds. I don't see any reason to go back to the days of drips and the like which is what will happen if I do. I'm resigned to taking them for the duration and if I don't need to it will be a nice bonus!

justtheonethen · 23/11/2017 09:46

Pippa sorry for awful night. It's so unfair so late on! Hope you all recover from cold before baby comes.

Natsku · 23/11/2017 10:40

Oh dear, sorry you had such a bad night pippa hope you all get better soon

BunnyFluffy · 23/11/2017 12:54

For those of you who were talking about maternity clothes (planning my maternity wardrobe has certainly provided me with a bit of light relief from the sickness) my final ebay deliveries arrived today so my maternity wardrobe is complete (apart from bras).

I've bought the following (all big brands like Isabella Oliver, JoJo Maman, Mamalicious etc so hopefully I'll be able to sell them on when I'm done with them) for the grand total of £164. Some brand new items, most second hand but in very good condition:

2x leggings, brand new with tags (BNWT)
2x jeans
2x shorts (BNWT)
1x short sleeve Tshirt (BNWT)
2x vest tops
4x tops long sleeves (one BNWT)
6x smart dresses, mainly Isabella Oliver (needed for work)(2 are BNWT)

Anyway I'm pretty chuffed so thought I'd share. And the best thing was I didn't have the leave the house, which was important when feeling sick.

Flowers to you all

BunnyFluffy · 23/11/2017 12:58

Oh and the £164 includes all the postage Wink

LucindaE · 23/11/2017 13:59

Welcome to iamreallyaunicorn. Of course, I agree with all the suggestions to get pre-emptive meds. Fifth Hyperemesis pregnancy? That is brave. You are such a veteran, I would be highly presumptious to give any advice. You must be a dab hand with keostix, and with the liquids that best suit you.
justtheone and Elephantgrey Thank you for kind words. Even comparatively recently, on the first of these threads, a woman was refused meds though she had suffered badly in her first pregnancy, with the result that she was eventually dashed to hospital in an ambulance with siren blaring. I think that was Melangeatrois.
DeadDoorPost You will be fine; to be young is to be adaptable.
Sorry about bad family news.
Pippasnippa Much sympathy over bad night and to all still staggering on.
Who was it who recounted how she nearly choked when bringing up a muffin in a public loo and wet herself besides? Appalling as that was, I had to laugh at her comment, that it was such an undignified way to go. Sad.

Nice bargain finding bunny!

justtheonethen · 23/11/2017 14:48

Great bargain hunting bunny. I have just bought three dresses on eBay. It's the way to go!
