I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Find what you can manage to keep down elephant and eat/drink that no matter how unhealthy it is - right now the most important thing is getting enough fluids and calories in you. I found I couldn't drink water but fizzy drinks stayed down plus the sugar really helped. Food-wise I survived mostly on salads and melon in those early weeks, sometimes buttered toast.

thingymaboob · 27/10/2017 07:30

@dillydollydarling I bought "huel" shake powder in the beginning but it never made it out of the packet. My husband kept making me fruit and veg smoothies as he was worried about my limited diet of 2 packets of hula hoops a day. They were too acidic and just looked like sick. When I started to feel better I drank a lot of chocolate milkshakes which I sometimes threw up.
Keep going! I'm 29 weeks today and I've called in sick for first time in a month as have been really sick again this week.

Morning all. Welcome elephant. It’s amazing what your body and baby survive on. Keeping hydrated is the most important thing.
I’m really suffering at the moment. Feel so ill. Hope you’re all getting by.

justtheonethen · 27/10/2017 09:43

I'm still not cooking/heaving at ingredients Blush. DH has cooked everything. I still can't drink our tap water, I have to drink bottled which I hate buying!

dead Grinhow many times can you get your DH to walk past your sample.

seize poor you, its rotten Flowers

Scan today, so nervous.

justtheonethen · 27/10/2017 09:44

thingy Flowers for you too.

Natsku · 27/10/2017 09:46

Hope all goes well at the scan justtheonethen

Apparently DD has blood pancakes for lunch today at school - just the thought of that makes me retch!

DeadDoorpost · 27/10/2017 09:53

Weird dreams again. Kept waking up in the night for no reason. It's really odd. I didn't need the loo, I just would suddenly be awake.
Good luck with the scan just mine put me at ease that I wasn't having triplets.
Natsku yeah that's making me feel sick as well
thingy hope you feel better today and rest up. Don't overdo it.
seize Flowers for you. The first trimester is the hardest I found and incredibly draining. Hope you feel better soon too

justtheonethen · 27/10/2017 10:16

I slept really badly too, every time I started to drop off I needed the loo then kept waking in the night for no reason. Hoping just anxiety about the scan rather than a new pattern!

20 (21!) week scan so I'm already sure there's just the one Grin

thingymaboob · 27/10/2017 10:28

@DeadDoorpost I'm getting weird dreams too. I had an awful dream that she was born with a condition that made her look like an old woman. She was born with a long wrinkly face and looked like a witch from the wizard of oz.

I find it really upsetting to hear from all of you who are suffering and just starting out in the first trimester. It's really awful. The only advice I can give is to keep randomly trying bits of food / drink and you'll find at least one thing that you can tolerate and stay down. I only consumed hula hoops, plain tortilla wraps and very cold full fat flat coke for weeks in the beginning. I lost 9kg. I am now back to pre pregnancy weight at 29 weeks.

DeadDoorpost · 27/10/2017 11:09

Ah just, forgive me. But you never know Grin you might find a second one aha (I made them check again just to make sure)

thingy yeah, the first dream had my mum going all upset etc because my sister didn't make a cake or something for my birthday or something along those lines. Sad thing is, she's literally that deranged that she WOULD actually get upset about it. And then the second one had something to do with the world ending, riding a horse, and stealing and preparing foods for a long time. There were explosions in a jail which killed a load of the surrounding guards... just very odd. I did have a dream the other week where my baby was born with a slightly malformed mouth and his teeth had come out at the front but then we were stood in his mouth with the dentist who just slotted them back into his gums and they healed over. Was a very odd dream. Hmm

Mustang27 · 27/10/2017 11:52

All my dreams are really bleak right now, I have a reoccurring one that the cord is wrapped round babies neck it’s not fun.

Good luck Just I found the 20 week scan really nerve wracking but I know to much about what they are actually checking for, I wish I had been blissfully unaware and just thought it was a fender scan like a lot of ppl.

Natsku blood pancakes Envy that would be a no for me too lol. I bet she loves them though.

Everyone is still so ill it’s bloody crap, fresh air and gentle hugs for all.

Mustang27 · 27/10/2017 11:52

*gender

justtheonethen · 27/10/2017 12:01

I've done far too much research to be relaxed about it, and know people who got terrible news at theirs. I'm so nervous!
Ha ha, would love it if they found another one there, at least I would never have to do this again GrinGrin

justtheonethen · 27/10/2017 12:02

Ugh blood pancakes natsku Envy

These dreams sound really scary! I keep having scary ones but I never remember them, just wake up scared/unsettled. Really odd as I don't normally.

Mustang27 · 27/10/2017 12:06

What time is your app just? Remember it’s so rare to get bad news now and you have no control over it either way. Try to relax and eat and drink something that you enjoy that is a little sugary before you go in if you can so baby isn’t sleepy and they aren’t shoogling you to get them to turn lol.

Oklahoma · 27/10/2017 13:24

Hi Elephant nothing to add to what the others have said except sympathy.

I’m off to hospital again this afternoon. This cold has made the HG awful again and think I need fluids. 36+3 today do you think I should take a hospital bag just in case?

pippanippa · 27/10/2017 14:32

Welcome Elephant sorry you're suffering. Oklahoma that sounds awful, no harm in taking your bag with you just in case, at least if you're admitted you'll have some comfy pyjamas and snacks for when you feel up to eating. Colds and HG are such a horrible combination!

Hope everyone else is doing ok today and that the scan goes well Just.

Now had confirmation that no extra growth scans/dopplers and all that jazz needed for me now, just regular monitoring from here on in, the usual GD check-ups and regular Dr's appointments now for the final few weeks, so very relieved Smile. Still haven't packed my hospital bag, despite constantly promising myself I will...hopefully will get round to it this weekend!

OnNaturesCourse · 27/10/2017 14:40

Quick question all... Anyone's nausea get ramped up when baby's really active? Or when travelling by car? I nearly had to pull over earlier Halloween Envy

justtheonethen · 27/10/2017 14:41

mustang just waiting at the hospital now. Had a biscuit too so hopefully the baby will behave!

pippa that's great news Smile

oklahoma I would take it, sorry you're feeling so awful Sad

justtheonethen · 27/10/2017 14:42

Yep nature, car for sure gets me.

DeadDoorpost · 27/10/2017 15:40

nature travelling in the car gets me too. So I try not to.

DeadDoorpost · 27/10/2017 15:59

Also going to rant here a bit and just say that I went swimming with DH today which was lovely. Helped the pain in my back and took the pressure off my stomach for a few hours.
Only I'm not feeling too good after eating lunch and I feel ill like a cold is coming again or something.
Heartburn is at least at bay thanks to Rennie tablets. And spoke to midwife about her not being there yesterday. What had happened us shed out it in her diary for next Tuesday but in my notes etc for yesterday. She was very apologetic, asked if everything was alright and that I hadn't panicked at all, then we made sure we both had it in diaries for Tuesday which is fine. So yeah. All good with that now but it's just the feeling sick. Flowers for everyone because why not. We all deserve them

justtheonethen · 27/10/2017 16:34

Flowers to you too dead, sorry you're feeling rough.

All fine at the scan and we are having a girl Smile

Shehz21 · 27/10/2017 17:46

Dead Hope you feel better soon Flowers

just Aww another pink bump !! So happy for you that everything went well at the scan!

Natsku · 27/10/2017 18:35

Now that winter is properly here I have realised I can't zip up my coat because my belly is too big! Need to get a new coat, my snow trousers are too small now as well. Had a snowball fight with DD today, she was so happy to be doing something fun with me which makes me feel bad because I've been just too exhausted to do much with her lately.
At least she had a lucky escape from the blood pancakes today as they didn't have any GF ones for her so she got spinach pancakes instead Grin
