I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

batman and hair I'm in awe! Well done both!

Lucinda that was good of iris it did seem a bit insensitive.

blue gosh you're having a rough time, but yay to meeting baby blue soon Smile.

So I think I felt the baby move on the outside just now......have been feeling it move this week but only inside and not convincingly but this time I had the same feeling and also felt a hardness on the outside that moved when I pressed on it.

But now I'm doubting myself, probably wind?! I'm 18+5 and have a posterior placenta if that matters.

NerNerNerNerNerNerNerNerBATMAN · 11/10/2017 19:55

justtgeonethen I don't deserve the awe! There is no way I am in the full throws of HG at the moment. That to me is where I spend all my time in bed or on the bathroom floor alternating between vomiting and whimpering!

I'm more at the 'well managed and appropriately medicated' stage where I just have the constant nausea (not as bad as before), desire to retch occasionally, and extreme exhaustion. There's no way I could have done this trip two weeks ago!

I may be batman, but I am not superhuman!!!

seizethecuttlefish · 11/10/2017 20:07

Batman still in awe. I'm vomiting a bit but feel lousy and headachy and also retching. I'm glowing lol. So I still think you're amazing. I need to get well medicated. Calling dr tomorrow to ask about ondansetron. I suspect one of the meds makes me dizzy.
I feel terrible today. Constantly sick, like sitting with a bucket and not being able to move about. Just not like me. I have no energy either. I feel like I just moan at the moment. I'm usually quite upbeat.

DeadDoorpost · 11/10/2017 20:52

Shehz definitely a pampered boy! But considering he's also the first grandchild he's going to get so much attention it's unreal. That and the fact that we both have big families. So he'll forever be spoiled.

There was something else I was going to reply to but I can't remember what it is (on my phone..) I'll have to go back and check.

DeadDoorpost · 11/10/2017 20:57

Ah yes! shehz we do have a name sorted for BabyDoor! It's the only name I currently like so if we ever have any more children we better not have another boy because he wouldn't end up with a name for weeks.
And seize my DH turned round to me earlier and asked if we could have sexy times 😂😂😂 I mean, I'm glad he still finds me attractive but holy hell the last time we dtd I ended up with cramp down my bump. I don't want a repeat of that especially as I'm at least a few weeks further ahead!
Blue good to hear from you and glad to hear that they're keeping an eye out. Always better to be on the safe side. It must be frustrating though with them wanting to keep you in.

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 21:48

Oh Hairgician well done on the dentist trip! Dreading mine which is coming up in a week's time.. bleeding gums are worrying me plus need to get my wisdom teeth extracted. I didn't realise until recently what all this acid vomit had done to my teeth.. Another nightmare to deal with!

DeadDoor Need to say I am deeply impressed at one bit from your post if we ever have any more children. I actually have utmost respect for all those who went through the nightmare of HG another time and you are actually keeping a positive outlook despite suffering yourself.
I wish for my DH sake that I can come out of the traumatising memories of those early weeks trying to figure out if I would "survive"..and maybe someday plan for more as he would pove to have atleast one more (especially the son he secretly pines for now he knows we having a girl).

seizethecuttlefish · 11/10/2017 22:11

Had to share. Prior to getting pregnant, I'd lost a lot of weight. I'm on a healthy eating group and they've just put together a list of things to ask yourself before you eat. I though, how my life has changed. The only thing I ever ask myself is, how easily can I throw this up! Wink
The list of HG questions would include that and is it worth trying to brush my teeth? Anyone want to add to the list?

DeadDoorpost · 11/10/2017 22:24

shehz my mum had HG for at least 3 pregnancies, and my nan had it for all 4 of hers. So I guess there's always a bright side to look on..
To add to the list , seize is:

how will it taste on the way back up?
How long can I keep it down for? Enough to get something from it?
how quickly will I hate this food?

BlueButTrue · 11/10/2017 23:05

Thanks ladies, they'd have me in 24/7 if they could Envy Its too hot and uncomfortable!

justtheonethen sounds like movement to me Grin

seizethecuttlefish · 11/10/2017 23:29

Blue sounds like my wee boy. I felt like I lived in the hospital! Glad the end is in sight for you.

Oklahoma · 12/10/2017 09:32

I have a few to add:

  • how dirty is my hair really
  • do I have time to wee before I puke
  • how much of my drugs did I absorb before throwing up
Mustang27 · 12/10/2017 09:49

Haha loving the questions.
Mines is what texture will this be on the way back up.
Do I stop before I feel full or keep going until I’m full as il likely be sick regardless.

I wish I’d waited a bit longer flumplet it must be really hard to go back to hg horror after that gap though.

Oklahoma · 12/10/2017 09:56

Ooh Mustang yes to the full one. The more I eat the more likely I am to be sick but if I’m going to throw up anyway surely the more I have eaten the better chance some of it will stay down!

Natsku · 12/10/2017 10:05

Good to hear from you blue do you have a Halloween costume ready for baby blue? Grin

seizethecuttlefish · 12/10/2017 10:37

Spoke to dr today, as meds not working and I keep throwing them up. He changed on to one I can dissolve in my mouth. No ondansetron, as he wants to try this first. He suggested I try ginger tea. I asked if I could give him some advice. He won't do that again lol. I pointed out that most woman with HG look at what they eat and drink and can tell you what's "good" to throw up. Ginger is not a winner! He admitted he didn't know that. I feel I have done my bit to educate him. I also said I just want to be well enough to go back to work. He said I might have to accept that may take a while. Sad

DeadDoorpost · 12/10/2017 10:41

I just actively laughed out loud seize about your GP 😂😂😂😂

I feel awful today. But I've got someone coming over at 12.30 with lunch for me so I can't complain too much as it means I don't have to worry about doing it myself. Or dinner as DH did extra last night.

NerNerNerNerNerNerNerNerBATMAN · 12/10/2017 11:44

Sieze glad you've got some new meds and have been educating medics Grin this stuff can really bring you down.
The questions are good, particularly like the "how much of my meds have I ingested before throwing them back up again?"

I still maintain that banana milkshake is the best thing to vomit, as it tastes exactly the same second time around

LucindaE · 12/10/2017 11:48

My Hyperemesis question: (in the street) Aagh - where' s the nearest lav? Oh no, there isn't one - it'll have to be the pavement or a bin as I forgot my carrier bag kit!' That was back a few years ago, when still in London, and bins were still open plan.

BlueButTrue Ah, the end is in sight. Congratulations on pre All Hallow's Eve baby. Your cervix is still OK, then?
justtheonethen Yes, that seemed to be a misunderstanding.
seize I am glad you instructed the doctor about ginger!

BlueButTrue · 12/10/2017 12:11

Thanks all Flowers

Lucinda Cervix staying the same, soda law. I thought it was going to cause so many issues but a host of other things have taken over. Argh Sad

Midwife and two unknown numbers calling me today. Both going to ask me why I haven't come in for my 48 hour ECG.

I have a viral infection, can I still go to the hospital with it? I didn't think I could since I'd be on the ward with labouring women

justtheonethen · 12/10/2017 12:14

My question-
Is this a dry heave or vomit?

Loving them Grin

blue I don't know, maybe check with the ward?

Mustang27 · 12/10/2017 12:17

Snap in the viral infection. I’d talk to them see what they say. It is a hospital however it’s full of sick people spreading germs.

pippanippa · 12/10/2017 13:11

Sorry to hear about the issues blue but hope all goes well even with a slightly early delivery. I'd give them a call to check about the virus, would assume they'd probably still want to see you.

Shehz21 · 12/10/2017 16:55

Blue Sorry about the viral infection. Hope you were able to re-schedule your appointment.

Had a very depressing day today. Planning to call the MW tomorrow to ask if I could come in to see her and ask about anti depressants..
I feel so ashamed at how weak of a woman I am. Why at 17weeks I still sometimes resent this pregnancy. Feeling awful really Sad

justtheonethen · 12/10/2017 17:13

shez you're not weak! I'm the same, this is so far from what I thought pregnancy would be I totally resent it. Calling midwife sounds really sensible.

Hairgician · 12/10/2017 17:13

Lol that's my main question before I eat anything - will it taste as good?😂😂
Managed some salmon with pasta and sliced green beans. Healthiest meal I've eaten since being really ill. Tasty too! Trying to decide what to have for tea.
