I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

justtheonethen Aww are you gonna find out at your 20 week scan or keep it a surprise?
Just realised you are due in March as well, 2 weeks before me! I'll be cheering you on your way to the Pink Castle while being a heavily pregnant whale

Natsku · 11/10/2017 13:42

Yeah a boy this time.

justtheonethen · 11/10/2017 13:45

Yes definitely going to find out. I need to bond with the little bugger I think! I'm excited to find out.

Yes due very close, you might beat me!

DeadDoorpost · 11/10/2017 13:56

shehz after so many boys being announced in here a girl is a nice break I think 😂 I know there's someone else who's been expecting a girl but for the life of me I can't remember who... and it's not a maternal fail. DHs cousin thought the same thing as you and she's ended up having a girl. I'm the only one expecting a boy at th3 moment in the family...

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 14:00

justtheonethen argh another one awaiting the dreaded GTT test.
I would be over the moon if baby decides to make an early show but not gonna set myself up for a disappointment as my mum went overdue with all her kids so I am expecting the same fate.
It's such an exciting time to find out about the gender, will wait for you to report back with mini you's gender!

Natsku A girl then a boy! In an ideal world I would have loved having that happen but don't plan on ever getting pregnant again due to the horror of HG :(

Mustang27 · 11/10/2017 14:01

I was convinced mini was a girl but he is most definitely a boy.

This time round I’m convinced mini 2 is a boy so I’m likely to get two maternal fails. My friend has had 4 and she got them all right, personally I think that’s just showing off Grin.

A wee girl is a nice change of pace on the thread for sure.

Flumplet · 11/10/2017 14:03

I reckon I’m having another boy - we will find out this time around. We didn’t with ds but I think it would be good for him to know.

Flumplet · 11/10/2017 14:04

Is HG more common with boy pregnancies then by the sound of it?

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 14:09

Door haha somebody will come along soon enough and remind us theirs is a pink bump as well!
That's gonna be a well pampered boy then! Thought of names yet or just a bump name so far?

Mustang that makes me feel better that i am not the only one who got it wrong Grin
Are you keeping it a surprise this time then?!

Flumpet According to old wives tales HG is more common with baby boys but this thread proved that myth wrong!

Mustang27 · 11/10/2017 14:09

Flumet it’s like 2% higher chance for one or the other I can’t remember which sex though. I’m pretty convinced it’s some made up shit though lol.

What age is your wee one? I nearly swayed this time as I thought it would be nice to say your baby bro/sis when talking to my wee boy. He is convinced it’s a sister/girl I’m not entirely convinced he knows what he is talking about at 28 months lol.

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 14:13

flumplet **HG is more common with baby girls!sorry about that!

Oklahoma · 11/10/2017 14:40

I just got cross examined by the pharmacist picking up my ondansetron prescription. Because clearly I want to take all of these drugs. Yes I know I shouldn’t still be this sick at 34 weeks but I am so I need the drugs. The doctors agrees. So mind your own bloody business!! So sick of justifying myself.

seizethecuttlefish · 11/10/2017 14:42

Loving all the girl/boy news. I was saying today, we found out with baby 1 but people thought we were odd for finding out. "Did you not want a surprise?"
Nope, wanted to bond as HG didn't make that easy. I keep convincing myself that this feels a very different pregnancy from last time but then I'm 5 years older...
Had my mw appt today. Feel really rough. Was gagging and retching in the car and walking in. Now back in bed, taken my meds and trying to convince myself I'm not giving birth to Damien from the Omen. On a plus, picked up some lovely mat clothes and at least hubby is home to listen to me moan.
Oh best laugh. Hubby wanted to support me and joined an HG Facebook group. He's unjointed, if that's the thing. According to him, all they talked about was sex and he's too scared to even raise that with me! Wink

Oklahoma · 11/10/2017 14:44

Seize that made me laugh. I do feel sorry for our husbands/partners though. They have to live through HG too (although clearly to a lesser extent).

Mustang27 · 11/10/2017 14:58

All they talked about was sex??? Really I’d be happy to never talk about sex again. I buy all the stretchy long sleeved tops in primark in bigger size than remotely required they are great. Then il wear them to bed after baby and at 3.50 a pop far cheaper than most maternity ranges. I do buy maternity leggings from George and H&M though as they have an over bump panel which I like.

My pharmacist did that Oklahoma I honestly wanted to cry. Yeah because of my dr sees fit to prescribe really you are in no way allowed to question that, right? He still hummed and hawed until I just said give me my pills and nobody gets hurt lol. Obviously I didn’t say that but I did say take it up with my dr but I need those pills to be capable of looking after my toddler.

Hairgician · 11/10/2017 15:07

Just back from the dentist. I'd got myself in such a state beforehand too. Stood in tears in dentists room shaking.
He and assistant were absolutely smashing though. Really patient with me. There is infection there and due to build of plaque behind teeth. As I'm pregnant they can't give me any antibiotics as the only they could give me I'm allergic to.
So, numbed the area and descaled the teeth. Even rubbed some cream on to numb gums before injections. 2 of my teeth that were descaled have become a bit unstable as gum and bone lost but reckons they should stabilise if I follow aftercare and keep regular appts. No other treatment needed at min as no fillings needed! So not all bad.

NerNerNerNerNerNerNerNerBATMAN · 11/10/2017 15:20

Sorry you didn't make it to London Bunny, take care of yourself.

I survived the late dinner and was actually enjoying myself for most of it. I could quite happily die today though- there is clearly such a thing as over doing it. I am EXHAUSTED.

On a four hour train back home, munching on a constant supply of crackers. I've felt a lot better physically since my GP introduced metchlopramide into the mix, so less retching but more exhaustion.

I'm off work tomorrow though and DD is in nursery so I'm limping towards a good rest day. Thank you all for your kind thoughts.

I think I'm having a boy this time, I'm all about the dairy produce at the moment, and was borderline vegan before getting pg Blush with DD my cravings were very different, hence thinking it's a boy. Could all be bollocks though!

Mustang27 · 11/10/2017 15:32

Oh god hair that sounds really horrible. I’m so impressed how well you coped. Really I’m in awe. I’m glad you had a patient dentist it really helps.

I was not about dairy at all with my wee boy and it was sickness inducing for sure. I’m all for dairy this time but it’s still sickness inducing, so who knows. Well done on the vegan front I’d love to be able to maintain that just don’t have the will power but plenty of guilt.

Hairgician · 11/10/2017 15:53

Mustang am dead chuffed with myself! Nearly chickened out of going today. Welcome distraction from the shitness of hg. Sat sucking water through straw as still numb. God that feels weird!
Full on expected to be told I'd need those teeth pulled!

LucindaE · 11/10/2017 17:46

Everyone, Isis sent me a pm and it seems she made a mistake and didn't realise that this was a Hypermesis support thread when she made that comment about babies not being parasites, and is highly sympathetic to Hypermesis sufferers because as a trainee midwife she met one.
Hairgician You brave thing. That sounds a grim form of treatment. I am so glad you went. I hope the infection clears up soon and I am so glad the dentist was patient.
Good advice from Mustang and others about GD test. Some women on here have been given Lucozade, I seem to remember.
Shehz So true; you are all lovely and supportive on here.
seize Was it you who said a girl? Congratulations on standing out from the crowd! With Hyperemesis sufferers the numbers seem generally evenly divided.
BATMAN Well done for being so brave and energetic! I hope you had a great time.
Okhahoma What an annoying pharmacist!
Bunnyfluffy Much sympathy you had such a bad night.
Waves to everyone. Apologies for anyone rudely overlooked. Watch me cross post.

BlueButTrue · 11/10/2017 17:55

Hi all, how is everyone? Trying to catch up with thread best as I can!

So sorry about the dentist Hair

I'm perplexed at how many people seem to get sonographers ay 12 week scans willing to make guesses on baby's sex.

I've never experienced that but my 3D scan at 13 weeks was funny, she kept saying boy and he is a boy Grin

Yet another bloody complication - Baby isn't moving hardly at all recently, so doing ECG tests every 48 hours. They want me kept in but I can stand the head of those wards no longer!

Baby Blue will be here by 37 weeks so before Halloween Smile

NonStopDisco · 11/10/2017 18:54

seize we decided not to find out the sex, and after telling a colleague, she said “ah that’s the best way. There aren’t any surprises otherwise”.i thought it was such a daft thing to say (as if the birth of your child is otherwise a everyday and mundane event), that I nearly booked in for a private scan there and then! We didn’t find out because of the sickness, I suppose I wanted to separate pregnancy with the actual little person we’ll finally meet

Glucose test-I threw up and passed out on my first go. I was told to ask for a bed on the second time, and I managed to keep it all down, possibly you could try that? The actual liquid I was given tasted like lemony and tangy, reminded me of the smell of lemon washing up liquid.

Hi BlueButTrue haven’t seen you post for ages! Sorry to see your having more issues!

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 18:54

Lucinda That was me with the baby girl Grin
Will maybe be accompanied by justtheonethen who may be having a baby girl as well!

Blue Hey there! Oh really excited for you!
Can't wait for you to report about Baby Blue's safe arrival and to finally be HG free!
Sorry about the movement scares but its great they are keeping a close eye on you and mini Blue (totally understand the resent to say in dem wards though).

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 18:59

Batman You deserve all the rest in the world after your long journey! I am in awe how you managed to do all that in early pregnancy with HG peaking its ugly nose. You brave brave woman.

Flumplet · 11/10/2017 19:07

@Mustang27 - my ds is 6 - I had HG when pregnant with him and it was a big decision to have another 😖 I think he’s erring in wanting a brother but does swing between both. This little bean is DEFINITELY the last!
