I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Lol about more names for bumps! Oklahoma That's awful. I am sure as a veteran you are taking an effective anti acid, too like ranitidine or omprazole, and poor pippasnippa, who was complaining about bad heartburn.

putputput · 22/09/2017 07:04

Thanks all for your support about my clearly barmy dentist.

Well done Oklahoma for managing the funeral. I can't get used to having no energy reserve, constantly declining invitations.

My bump is called Heifer. It started off as a bit of a joke but it's really stuck and I'm a bit worried that the poor baby will be named as such. Haven't agreed on any other names! Mustang - spawn of satan seems fairly appropriate- there's been many times I've turned to DH mid vomit and uttered "you did this to me".

Natsku · 22/09/2017 07:34

Hehe Heifer!
DD didn't get a name until she was 10 weeks old so we called her 'Baby' until then and by the time she actually got named 'Baby' had rather stuck so ended up calling her that more than her actual name until she was around 4 or 5 and told me to stop calling her 'Baby' because she's not a baby any more! Grin

Oklahoma · 22/09/2017 08:20

Nataku Oklette was the same. She so wanted a sister than when we told her it was a brother her reply wa "no, it's probably a sister". I she's come round to the idea now...

Natsku · 22/09/2017 08:25

I think DD might be coming round just a tiny bit, she was thinking of names this morning - Roope (which I cannot use as it was my uncle's dog's name so its forever associated with dogs for me)

Natsku · 22/09/2017 08:26

About to go and attempt to eat a 3 course meal at the local culinary school (for a tenner!), fingers crossed I don't get sick or that really uncomfortable bloated feeling I've been getting lately when eating more than just a little at a time as I really want to eat this meal.

pippanippa · 22/09/2017 09:47

Love all the bump names! Sorry to hear about that horrible dentist putput, but glad your teeth are ok at least!

Feeling very sorry for myself this morning, not kept anything down yet today and having one of those days where I just need to be in bed. Seem to have totally lost my appetite too. I might have to resort to parking DD in front of the telly this afternoon, cue guilt about being a terrible mum Sad.

justtheonethen · 22/09/2017 11:37

Also having a dreadful day and can't keep anything down pippa. Full of admiration for you having a toddler to look after too.

beautiful missed your post before. Don't feel bad, I considered it too as I felt like I was running out of options. Flowers for you
Definitely take medication prophylactically when you get pregnant next time.

Shehz21 · 22/09/2017 11:47

Sorry about the horrid dentist experience @putput. But glad you didn't put up with the crap "advice" and hope that dentist will keep his 2 cent to himself next time.

@pippanipa aww poor you hun. Might cheer you up to know that we are two to feel the same today. But I am in absolute awe and absolutely respect you all mummies who already have a DC or more to look after while battling with HG. I really don't think you should be feeling guilty about being a terrible mum,you are a Star for doing this all over again as are the other NM on here. But I totally understand the bad feeling with the horrible lack of appetite and energy today. Hope you feel better as the day progresses.

Love all the bump names. Some are hilarious they made me giggle at the thought of someone else other than us lot reading this thread and wondering sup with these women! Don't have a name yet for my pretty non existing bump at 14w but we have decided on Aya for a girl :)

Shehz21 · 22/09/2017 11:48

@Natsku goodluck with the 3 course meal and fingers crossed everything stays right where it should!

Natsku · 22/09/2017 12:17

Ate the meal, was delicious, feeling the bloat and slight nausea now but not too bad.

Shehz21 · 22/09/2017 13:08

Gonna have home made garlic bread with cheese right now and hoping this stays down too. Glad the nausea is not too bad @Natsku. It must feel so good to enjoy a delicious meal. Can only dream about it so far.

LucindaE · 22/09/2017 14:23

Couldn't post all morning: we'll see if this goes up:
putputput Well, there is a Welsh female name Hefina! [grin} at other names. Natsku How brave with Hyperemesis. I hope delicious.
pippasnippa You are not a bad mother, only an ill one.LO will forget all about comparative negelct in no time.
Lemondrop09 I should also have congratulated Oklahoma on attending a funeral.
I hope everyone is coping today. Sorry about those having bad days.

OP posts:
LucindaE · 22/09/2017 14:24

Shez21 I hope that garlic bread makes no reappearance!

OP posts:
justtheonethen · 22/09/2017 14:26

Think I need to go in for fluids, I haven't kept anything down since last night and I have a cracking headache.

Shehz21 · 22/09/2017 15:04

@LucindaE hubby went easy on the garlic and crazy on the cheese but I must admit I am looking at life through rose tinted glasses right now with Avomine. Its Godsent for me! Garlic bread really seem to be sticking right where it should! Grin

@justtheonethen aww poor you :( I know its quite unpleasant having to go in ff but the fluids always helped me a lot when I got dehydrated.

LucindaE · 22/09/2017 15:11

justtheonethen Poor you. As Shez21says, it''s probably best to go in, particularly with that headache.
Shez21 That is a minor victory, then.

OP posts:
pippanippa · 22/09/2017 16:49

Oh no it seems like everyone is having a bit of a bad day justtheonethen I hope you manage to get to hospital ok and feel a bit better.

Thanks Lucinda and Shehz for your reassurances about DD - it's hard not to feel guilty, but DH is back home now so I'm off duty, and can relax whilst they play, and have a weekend of rest to look forward to. Fortunately I managed some lunch (well the term 'lunch' is perhaps a bit generous, I had to throw away the GD diet and resort to biscuits....), but I needed something to get through the day and figured a few biscuits was better than nothing at all. Glad to hear of the garlic bread success Shehz21!

DeadDoorpost · 22/09/2017 18:12

Well, my no vomit streak is at an end. Had to take another ondansetron tablet after and my throat nd mouth stop feels horrible. No idea what's triggered it. Oh well. DH is doing dinner so I can shower and feel better. Just going to curl up all warm if I can.
And the day had been going so well with a good midwife appointment...

Shehz21 · 22/09/2017 18:46

I spoke too fast too. My vomiting came back with a vengeance 4 hours after I had food! How is that even... ffs.
Sorry about the return of the dreaded for u too @DeadDoorpost. It must have been an awful one after having had a good day.

My oesophagus is burning up and killing me. My GP decided to finally call back and say he send my prescription to the chemist.
Some domperidone 10mg (sp?). Did anyone ever try that ?
The chemist reassured me over the phone that its the "best" when I called to ask if I could come pick up the tablets.

DeadDoorpost · 22/09/2017 19:12

Shehz yeah, it's been about 15 weeks I believe so it's not nice. But the nausea was definitely different so I knew what was about to happen. And sorry to hear you threw up too. I haven't had or heard of the tablets so hopefully they'll work.

Lemondrop99 · 22/09/2017 19:18

Door, how many weeks are you now? Mine eased slightly between 24-28 weeks but got worse again going into this third trimester. Baby taking up so much space and squashing my stomach was definitely a factor. Then, around 34 weeks, the baby dropped. Omg, it felt so much better (was barely able to eat before as it felt like it was sitting in my throat). I'm still vomiting some days, but it's better since baby dropped. Wonder if space might be contributing to your sickness return?

justtheonethen · 22/09/2017 19:30

Having a really horrid time at hospital due to a really unsympathetic doctor. Getting fluids though and the nurses are lovely. The doctor basically said "she doesn't need a bed, just put her on a chair or something" which made me feel great Hmm. I burst into tears and the nurse at the ward told her off and said of course I need a bed. Feeling like a time waster or something. Ketones at 3+ which the doctor said wasn't that bad. It's definitely not the worst I've had but I feel like shit.

DeadDoorpost · 22/09/2017 20:10

Lemon 31+5 today so I think it's a hormone surge. Or it could be the iron tablets I started last week but at least midwife said I can cut down on them to 2 and then 1 next week.
justthe Drs suck when they're not sympathetic. At least the nurses were much nicer. I'd still be complaining though.

Shehz21 · 23/09/2017 06:58

@justtheonethen aww feeling real bad for you hun. I don't understand how Drs can be so unsympathetic. The exact same thing happened to me when i was 7wks with the Dr at the early pregnancy unit saying I should go home and rest,I dnt need fluids at ketones 3+. I would've punched her if I could then.
Even with the raising awareness about how bad hyperemesis can be and how difficult it is for us sufferers to cope, some Drs insist to keep living under a rock and act like HG is just a fancy word for MS. I am raging on your behalf here!!
Thankfully you got good nurses which didn't make your experience totally intolerable. Sending hugs your way and hope you feel much better today Flowers
