I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Bad dreams again like this is endless now.

Natsku · 21/09/2017 06:36

Oh dear, bad dreams really suck. I've been lucky so far that mine haven't been bad so much, just weird and really vivid. I dreamt last night I was back in school and had had a dream about one of the boys and wanted to tell him but was too embarrassed to!

Shehz21 · 21/09/2017 07:34

Thank you so much ladies for all the reassurance and kind words. I almost want to cry at all the support I get here. (Very emotional lately with these hormones )

@Mustang27 omg your MIL and mine could be twin sisters. My mil is a nurse and she said the same things to me. Glad that mini mustang is happy and healthy and you didn't give in to the nasty talk from your mil.

@justtheonethen & Lemondrop99 thank you ladies. I have printed these and will show them today to mil and hubby's midwife friends. Have suffered unnecessarily yesterday due to avoiding the avomine. Gonna go back on it today!

@LucindaE definitely ignoring such crap from others as from now and hopefully no more bile or less of it with the avomine today.

Been reading through these labour tales as well. Its helping me be more informed and well prepared when the time comes.
Just graduated into 2nd trimester today though. 14 weeks!
Hoping that time flies and I get to be in the 34d trimester sooner than later. By that time a lot of you will have your bundle of joy already :D

pippanippa · 21/09/2017 07:35

Totally empathise with being fed up of throwing up dinner dead and lemon, the evening heartburn is killing me.

Mustang it's kind of you to ask. Thankfully the ketones are now generally back under control, as is the GD thankfully Smile. I am essentially back to my previous diet obviously minus some of the high sugar snacks which the Dr is happy with as long as glucose stays under control. Just need to keep an eye on it and modify diet again if that changes. I am still finding that the ketones jump up to 4+ immediately even if I only vomit a few times, but I can bring them down again quite quickly now I'm allowed to have a little more carbs and sugar. Have stopped gaining weight again though, generally lose dinner and / or breakfast and can't seem to eat enough in between now to make up for it. But growth scan soon which will hopefully be reassuring that baby's not too big from GD or too small from all the vomiting!

pippanippa · 21/09/2017 07:36

Shehz yay to being in the 2nd trimester, I hope it'll be better than the first for you!!

Shehz21 · 21/09/2017 07:43

@Natsku yes definitely not gonna suffer more than I am already by listening to those ignorant people. I was so sick yesterday, I tucked myself in at 6pm and kept forcing myself to fall asleep and woke up today 6am. I am with you on the extremely vivid dreams though. Dreamt about school days as well and how hard my maths test was.

@DeadDoorpost aw poor you. It will all be over soon hopefully and you will mostly lack sleep then with little baby around lol. Bad dreams won't be missed for sure though!

NonStopDisco · 21/09/2017 08:26

Well, I've been signed off work as sickness has been getting worse over the last couple of weeks, and it essentially means I'm on maternity leave at 31 weeks. I'm spending the next couple of days sleeping, as whatever I do, I keep waking at 2am and not getting back to sleep, so tiring.
@DeadDoorPost Re. the bad dreams- I keep having dreams that I'm back living with my parents and I've had the baby, and I keep putting it in the bin, or once, baby had a poo and completely deflated! Really horrible.

DeadDoorpost · 21/09/2017 10:44

Nonstop I'm so sorry but those dreams made me laugh 😂
Shehz I get bad dreams regardless but not this frequently. It's doing my nut in. Just keep dreaming bout one of my sister's and all the anger I had because of her seems to be projecting now... years down the line. (We're still not that close tbh but oh well I don't feel like I'm missing out)

Natsku · 21/09/2017 11:23

I went through a period of time where every single night I dreamt someone was trying to kill me, always a different person trying to kill me in a different way. It was disturbing but after a couple of months I got used to it and would wake up comparing the murder methods to previous dreams. That was before I got pregnant though so can't blame it on hormones!

justtheonethen · 21/09/2017 11:42

I too am "enjoying" scary dreams as a pregnancy symptom Shock

Saw my usual lovely doctor who prescribed 8mg ondansetron tablets for 20 days on a repeat. Said the duty doctor was talking rubbish and of course I could have them if they helped.

Feel so relieved as I've been feeling so awful on 4mg and I can function on 8mg. Was feeling terrified I would be back to square one.

Hope everyone is managing at least.

BlueButTrue · 21/09/2017 12:29

Sorry for the jump in but I'm very shaken up ladies! Can relate to the odd dream scenarios.

Last night, I had a dream my dad assaulted me and my DM tried covering for him Hmm They're the most loving parents and have never done anything close! It freaked me out.

Night before I dreamt I was riding naked on a camel Confused

putputput · 21/09/2017 12:43

Can definitely relate to the surreal dreams. Thoughts go out to all of you in your first trimester. It is utter misery and seems like the longest journey ever but you will get there.

I've now started mat leave at 32 weeks. I got in to a very unhealthy cycle of 2 shifts at work and then in hospital for a night to rehydrate. My midwife ended up saying enough is enough. I'm still vomiting but no hospital admissions for over a week now!

Braved the dentist, teeth are damaged but not too badly which is a big relief. Did have to make a complaint about the dentist though who advised me to not take any medication during pregnancy as I could give my child autism! Then went on to say that most women vomit in pregnancy, and a lot of it is probably psychologicalAngry Utter twat.

NonStopDisco · 21/09/2017 12:55

@DeadDoorPost reading it back it is pretty funny! When I'd just woken up though, I just felt really uncomfortable and weirded out. sorry yours are so frequent though, really puts a bad spin on the sleep that you do manage to get.
@justtheonethen that's good they've given you the right stuff this time, pregnancy seems to bring out the weird in a lot of doctors

NonStopDisco · 21/09/2017 12:58

@putputput where do these people get off spouting utter garbage?! Can be so upsetting as well.

justtheonethen · 21/09/2017 13:18

putput I'm raging on your behalf. How dare they say that! Angry

DeadDoorpost · 21/09/2017 13:41

putput that's horrible. Glad you made the complaint though.
It turns out my uncle's gf also has HG. She's been hospitalised at least once but can still eat which sucks as I envy her when I couldn't. My nan was talking to me about it and she agrees that I've had it worse considering I physically couldn't eat without it coming back up.
I know I shouldn't compare but still. It's making me feel that little bit better...

Also discovered today that spaghetti and grated cheese do not agree with my stomach right now. It's been 2 hours but I'm still feeling like I'm bout to hurl. Hoping I don't as I've got my birthing choices talk up at the hospital tonight so I can start writing up my many birth plans.

Natsku · 21/09/2017 14:08

Well done for making a complaint putput healthcare professionals should not get away with saying shit like that!

Glad you got your meds just

Baby is kicking up a storm this afternoon, have an anterior placenta so DD and OH still can't feel them on the outside but I definitely can - love it! (for now, will love it less when baby gets bigger and starts going for my ribs and bladder...)

Does anyone else have a nickname for their baby? I either call him FoetusMcFoetusFace or Dave (which is what I call everything)

Lemondrop99 · 21/09/2017 16:26

Putput Shock I am gobsmacked and outraged on your behalf! That's totally disgusting for anyone to say, but how on earth does a dentist think he's qualified to comment?! My DH was also shocked and thinks you should escalate your complaint to whatever professional body regulates the dentist. That's damaging, dangerous rubbish he's spouting.

Re: horror dreams, yep had loads here. Piece of advice - don't watch IT while pregnant and right before bed. That led to some crazy dreams. I also had a horrible dream where I full on assaulted my poor DH, its was so violent and I can't imagine where it came from as he's been wonderful through all this Confused

Mustang27 · 21/09/2017 17:03

Haha Natsku absolutely this one is Bob lol and my wee boy was Fred I dunno why I’m picking old men names for my unborn children but I just do lol. Dave is awesome. On bad hg days I call bump the spawn of Satan ooops

LucindaE · 21/09/2017 18:12

putputput Glad to hear you've started on ML. How unfuriating of that dentist; how insensitive!
Mustang and Natsku Ha, Ha! Perhaps they will be the next in names for boys...
Sorry to hear of grotesque dreams, everyone. Alarming adventures and tragedies seem to be proliferaitng...
BlueButTrue You must have been excellent at the interview, for all your being ill. Have you been battling into your old job every day?
I am impressed how women on this thread -

  1. Often manage to go into work.
  2. Somehow cope with toddlers.
  3. Manage to go on holiday.
  4. Manage to have a social life.
5....And even, sometimes, manage to visit the dentist (and hopefully, not many have to listen to the nonsense that putputput had to. I hope everyone is coping today. Waves to pippasnippa and everyone.

Went to a funeral this afternoon which was the first time I have left the house properly in a while. Was only out for three hours but since coming home have slept for 2h and thrown up every drop of bile and acid in my body. SO over this.

Oklahoma · 21/09/2017 18:29

Oh and our bump is called Lumpy. Oklette named him...

Natsku · 21/09/2017 19:24

Oh no, clearly you need to take it very easy Oklahoma like the name Lumpy! When I was pregnant with DD I called my bump Pötsi which is the belly of a ruminating beast but can just mean fat belly.

DD is so upset that we're having a boy, she had her heart set on a little sister and has cried a lot since I told her last night :(

DeadDoorpost · 21/09/2017 20:11

Mine is either Alien, Atticus Spock, or Senacharib depending.
Natsku I'm sure she'll come round. I did eventually when I found out my youngest sister was a girl... Took me a few years though 😂

Lemondrop99 · 21/09/2017 20:22

Ergh sounds awful Oklahoma Confused Its hard to explain to anyone how simply daring to leave the house for a few hours can wipe you out. One day outside (even just a few hours) always leads to two days recovery for me. Hope you feel a bit better soon
