I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Had a complete melt down at obstetrician appointment today. Asked to see consultant I've always seen but was seen by a foundation doctor. Got very tearful and angry and stormed out of appointment. She was taking my history of hyperemesis and I just broke down and said it was too traumatic to relive and talk about so I stormed out. I was absolutely hysterical. Don't know what came over me. I walked down the Rd and cried for a bit then went back with my tail between my legs. Saw obstetrician, who was apologetic. I was in bits. I guess I have blocked out all those early weeks and haven't realised how much it affected me.

Lemondrop99 · 24/08/2017 18:41

Hi all. Just crawling bye to say hello

Lovely news for your uncle Door.

Thingy, take care of yourself. Some women have suffered PTSD from HG. It can really take a toll on your mental health. Make sure you keep your health professionals in the loop of you keep feeling low.

I'm up in Yorkshire staying at a friend's for the week. I got here ok as she had come down for my baby shower and I hitched a lift back with her. We've done a few things but I tire so quickly and have been quite nauseous, so there's been a lot of sofa chilling too. I threw up in her car 😫 Have a day out planned tomorrow on a steam train, hoping I'll be well enough to go. Currently lying in bed feeling sick as a dog. Have caved and taken some pills. Ergh. Still....getting there slowly

Oklahoma · 24/08/2017 18:49

Lemon you are so nearly there now, you can do this!!!

Oklahoma · 24/08/2017 18:50

The highlight of my day was very publically throwing up in Oklette's potty because we were out and I got caught out by a stealth vom. You have to laugh...

Lemondrop99 · 24/08/2017 18:56

Oh no! Stealth voms are the worst!! Sorry but the potty did make me chuckle...

justtheonethen · 24/08/2017 19:34

In a potty Grin

thingy poor you, sending a virtual hand hold.

Having a few bad days nausea wise Envy

BlueIsYou · 24/08/2017 21:21

Hi all, sorry I've not caught up. Been so sick today and vomited everywhere on way to growth scan Blush

Baby Blue is measuring within normal range! I've added a picture.

Currently with DNiece as she's in hospital still but doing brilliantly.

Hope everyone is okay as they can be today Flowers

justtheonethen · 24/08/2017 21:24

Great photo Smile

LucindaE · 24/08/2017 21:50

Bluesyou Goodness, I must be being obtuse - I can make no sense of that picture. Glad all is well on scan, sorry about sickness at hospital visit and sorry your poor niece is in hospital; what is the diagnosis? Glad baby has stayed put so far. Are you still forcing yourself into work? That's bad enough, but it must be so difficult with these extra misfortunes with worry about dilated cervix, OH's job position and niece, too.
Oklahoma Much sympathy over 'stealth vomit'. Public Puking Performances are so embarrasing.
DeadDoorPost Most unfair you have been told not to complain - but congratulations on a baby cousin expected.

Thingymaboob Much symapathy over bad days.
Lemondrop It is very brave of you to plan a stay with a friend when ill. On a steam train, my goodness, sit towards the back away from the smoke.
Apologies to anyone rudely ignored.

So sorry to read such sad news from Daffodil life can be so cruel Sad

GP relented and gave me prescription for ondansetron, it's helping lots and have been ok enough to go back to work today. Absolutely shattered but a relief to have some normality back! Hoping I won't need it for too long as in my last pregnancy I was vom free by 18 weeks so we'll see how it goes. Funny that I consider that as being one of the lucky ones! It's been so helpful reading back this thread to know that others are going through similar. No one I know in RL has ever experienced more than mild morning sickness. I don't think anyone who hasn't gone through it can understand how isolated it makes you feel when it's at its worst!

Natsku · 25/08/2017 08:05

Poor you thingy those early weeks must have been traumatic :(

Urgh throwing up in the car sucks lemon :(

Good thing you managed to get the vomit in the potty anyway oklahoma!

Lovely scan pic blue 3D scans are the best! I got a quick look at baby at the OB yesterday but its such an old machine that you can't really see detail at all but very wriggly baby anyway!

OB thinks hydronephrosis can't be ruled out despite what the doctor at out of hours said as the muscles might be tight because of the pain and not the other way round so he referred me to the Urology clinic today but the pain is just gone this morning so I called and cancelled (they told me I can come if the pain comes back). Such a relief!

Natsku · 25/08/2017 08:06

Glad you got the prescription Pheasant

LucindaE · 25/08/2017 10:45

Bluesyou I was always hopeless at interpreting scans and I am sure for those with more of a knack
Thingymaboob I am sorry, I missed that post. A large number of sufferers are traumatised by the isolation and alarming symptoms and as often as not, the lack of understanding by most people. Cyber hugs on offer. It's quite understandable to cry about it.
BluePheasant and Natsku Good news.

Bluesyou Sorry, pc playing up - again. I was always hopeless at interpreting scans unless the picture is crystal clear, so I am sure it is a lovely picture of baby if it can be undestood!

Crown and Mellee I forgot to congratulate you both!!! I hope you're feeling fantastic after the rigours of HG and childbirth. Flowers

putputput · 25/08/2017 17:00

I'm going to give myself a mini round of applause as I got through the glucose tolerance test this morning! 2nd attempt, having vomited spectacularly during the first.

Having had 4 hospital admissions in last 6 weeks I've come to an agreement with work about using up the rest of my annual leave then starting my maternity leave early. So I have 2 weeks left of work. The relief is starting to hit, I've felt I am constantly gearing myself to get through the work day to the expense of everything else.

Met a lovely student midwife on my last hospital stay who is looking at doing her dissertation on hyperemesis, looking at women's experiences. I directed her here!

Sending positive vibes to all you incredible ladies, especially those who having a shit day.

LucindaE · 25/08/2017 17:46

putputput Well done on getting through the test. I hope the student midwife finds this thread useful.
TwoDrifters Lovely to hear from you. Hope all is fine with you?

Lemondrop99 · 25/08/2017 18:35

Well done putput. Finishing work will be such a relief, take the pressure off. One less thing to worry about!

I got through my birthday outing without throwing up! I'm tired of not having stomach space any more though. It's lovely that I can mostly eat but tiny amount leave me feeling stuffed and uncomfortable for hours. I'm sure that's another thing (on top of HG and reflux) causing vomiting.

LucindaE · 26/08/2017 12:17

Lemondrop That is great news about your birthday celebration.
Sorry about the lack of space - I found that made the heartburn awful. I hope you don't have that, at least?

OP posts:
LucindaE · 26/08/2017 12:18

Lemondrop Oh no, apologies - I am being dopey recently. You have reflux! Much sympathy.

Lucinda Haha, bless you!

Please can you add my due date? It's the 17th November

But have just got the news that my cervix is still incredibly low and will likely mean a section at 37 weeks Angry

Argh! I don't want to be cut open. Hopefully it moves by my next scan

BlueIsYou · 26/08/2017 15:20

*low lying placenta, not cervix Blush

Ameliablue · 26/08/2017 16:30

I've another scan on Tuesday so will hopefully get a better idea of due date to add to the list. Baby was moving about and wouldn't go in right position for measurements last time.
