I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Thanks Blue, at 12 week scan I got 1:5 for Edwards or patau so I'm thinking it's on of those......

Mustang27 · 11/08/2017 10:22

Oh blue nightmare!!! There will be other jobs.

justtheonethen · 11/08/2017 10:39

blue oh no, poor you Flowers

Crownandheelshigh · 11/08/2017 10:56

Thanks for everyone's advice.

My sickness took a new level at 3am this morning when it decided that I couldn't even lay down without feeling sick/throwing up!
I don't lay completely flat anyways but now I can't get comfy at all.

Plus I've got a migraine 😔

Rant over sorry ladies

DeadDoorpost · 11/08/2017 11:27

I know its a really sensitive topic right now, but for those who are going to be trying again, have you seen this? www.dailywire.com/news/19593/breakthrough-study-vitamin-b3-may-prevent-michael-qazvini?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=062316-news&utm_campaign=benshapiro

Any chance of it helping is better than no chance right?

DeadDoorpost · 11/08/2017 11:29

The woman who took me to my scan yesterday was talking about it, and apparently marmite has a load of Vit B3. The article does say to take the news with a pinch of salt, but maybe they're onto something.

justtheonethen · 11/08/2017 11:29

I've had a really good few days in terms of not throwing up and then just went downstairs and DH has left a load of food in the sink drainer Envy

LucindaE · 11/08/2017 12:18

wealsedee Best of luck with genetics discussion. Not fun. I read about a natural and free method of testing mid cycle fertility in the 90's an d used it at that time for the opposite purpose - to avoid conceiving - it was the cervical mucus test, and really excellent as a method of testing ones individual fertility round mid cycle. I don't know if there is still information of it about?
Bluesyou You lost twins at 16 weeks? That is tough. When was that? Sorry about puking at interview: it was very brave of you to go on one. I hope the dress wasn't 'dry clean only'! Most people find it is all they can do to stagger through the day doing a minimal amount.

Ameliablue Oh dear, about tablets smelling so bad. pippanippa's tip seems a good one.
DeadDoorPost You are so right.
Crownandhighheels Sorry about migraine. I had them awfully for the first sixteen weeks, then they subsided; in fact, it can be hard to tell the difference between them and the pounding dehydration headaches, but as a veteran I am sure you are keeping an eye on dehhydration.
justtheone Oh no! That sounds awful! Poor you.

Lucinda Over a year ago now, two boys. Funnily enough, I didn't get a hint of sickness with them or any other of my failed pregnancies Envy

The dress is a Italian Couture little black number, that luckily you can indeed stick in the washing machine Grin

BlueeSpottyTiger · 11/08/2017 12:45

Aww blue thats so sad :( sorry to hear that x
weasel hope your okay! X

I have my occupational health phone call at 2pm 😣 dreading it! My scan went well yesterday.. they have no idea where the bleeding is coming from.. they did an internal one this time. Baby is measuring only 1 day out then what i calculated so im 8+6 now :)

Lemondrop99 · 11/08/2017 12:45

You're so brave Weasle. I hope the generic appointment is helpful and good luck with the ovulation sticks.

Sorry to hear about your loss Blue. That's so sad. Never say never on the job until you have the results! Hope your dress washed up ok!

Just, walk away from it. And yell at him later!

3am vomits do not sound fun Crown. Hope you're feeling a little better now.

I have a huge stinking cold on top of everything. I'm hoping this cough goes quickly as I'm sure it'll start me vomiting again. I've been relatively ok over the last few days (after an awful Mon and Tues), since I stopped taking the Pregnacare. Now it could be total coincidence, as my sickness does come and go in waves. However if it's taken me until 32 weeks to work out my vitamins are contributing to my sickness, I'll be so annoyed!

One bit of good news

WORK!!!!!!!!!

HaichM · 11/08/2017 13:05

Blue: Sorry about your dress and the interview

Blue: glad your wedding day was fab. Kind of jealous of how beautiful you look in those pictures, though you certainly deserve. Don't think I've looked anything other than a mess this entire time.

Bean: so sorry for your news
Weasle: glad to hear you're doing OK and that you have happy news soon

Oklahoma: I'm still on ondansetron. 1x4mg a day but I would be on more if I wasn't so worried about it making the constipation worse.

Mellee: I had one of those sick dos the other night at midnight. It was violent enough my mum heard it downstairs.

Someone was asking about coughing - yes. I have a lovely cough and when it is strong or phlegmy then I often feel really sick or gag but I had a cold earlier in the pregnancy and that made me vomit a few times.

Sorry to all the newcomers and the issues people are having with smells and low moods etc. HG really sucks.

Sorry also that I've not been on in a while. Getting ready to move has really taken it out of me and I've not wanted to moan and complain on here when so many are suffering worse. The last couple of weeks have been all about packing, constipation and feeling crap but the move is done now and I've at least managed to help a bit with packing and unpacking. Feeling a bit down today because I really thought I was going to go into labour yesterday thanks to some loose bowels and a big vomiting session but haven't. Also feeling really nauseous and apparently back to being blocked again already. I'm 40+10 now and have an induction booked for Sunday morning. I hope everyone is having a better day today

Mustang27 · 11/08/2017 13:42

Naughty baby Haich just come already!!! Do you think our HG babies are maybe a bit sadistic and like to make us suffer?? Have you had a sweep yet? You can do it yourself supposedly although I'd worry about germs.

Good luck for Sunday but I'm hoping you go asap.

DeadDoorpost · 11/08/2017 16:49

mustang maybe a lot of us are unlucky but I'm hoping to take after my mum... 4 very short labours (shortest was 2 hours longest was 7) and were all early babies. Seems my nan was the same with earlier births as well.. I've got my fingers crossed!

Waiting for a call back from the Dr regarding more meds. Nausea has definitely ramped up so hoping to get it sorted by Wednesday when I leave for holiday. Don't really feel like spending 2-4 hours every night trying to fall asleep while ignoring the nauseous feeling...

HaichM · 11/08/2017 18:46

Mustang: DS was a HG baby and he was born 39+4, though the Hg wasnt as bad as this time and the labour was a long one. Tbh it probably works out for the best as I've found things difficult enough with the move as a 41 week pregnant woman, a newborn and sleep deprivation would no doubt have made it even more difficult.

Dead: I hope you get things sorted. Trying to sleep while really nauseous is horrible and a lack of sleep always made/makes things worse for me.

Melleebacca · 11/08/2017 19:13

Haich - glad to hear you've made it through the move ok. Hoping baby Haich makes an appearance soon! I'm so over this that every tingle makes me hope I'm going into labour, and then I freak out a bit at the idea of the pain. I've been offered a sweep at my next midwife appt, but hoping I'm not still pregnant then!

Lemon - yay! Try and have one small thing to do a day so you don't go bonkers with the waiting for labour part.

Deaddoor - I could stomach marmite with DD, so had a fair amount of it when pregnant and sick with her. Marmite has a whole range of nutrients in it, so is actually a pretty good spread.

Blue - your poor dress. You were so brave to go for an interview mid HG.

Crown - sorry to hear you're suffering. It's much harder the second time around. Mum guilt and all. Plus you know what to expect and how long to expect it for. I have been much more tired this time around.

Not much happening here. Trying to stay positive about the fact that I could still be pregnant for another 3w. Hoping baby is here sooner rather than later, my nana turns 80 in 2 weeks and I would love to be able to eat cake by then!

LucindaE · 11/08/2017 20:01

Bluesyou That was a tragic loss. I hope both you and the dress are feeling better.
HaichM and Melleebacca Here's hoping babies arrive soon. HaichM 40 +10? That is too bad of baby! You have both been wonderful at stoicism and support for others.
BlueSpottyTiger I hope the OH phone call went well.
Lemondrop Congratulations on your last day of work!
DeadDoorPost I hope you take after your family for short labours.

Can I be added? I'm 9th march sooo long away

Crownandheelshigh · 11/08/2017 23:38

Hello. Thanks everyone for the support.

I'm so fed up (I love my unborn son) but I constantly feel crap.
I've been under a consultant for my pregnancy due to low bmi but I'm just wondering weather I can push for being induced when I get to 37 weeks or something as although this is my first the strain the sickness, low bmi and low iron level is physically draining me as well as emotionally.

I've been on cyclezine and ondanastron for the whole of my pregnancy but now feel like they aren't working?
Is there anything else I can take etc?

I've already been hospitalised once at the start of my pregnancy cause of being dehydrated due to the sickness and really don't want to end up back there.
(I've been in hospital at total of 5 times with pregnancy related things but last was due to suspected pre term labour)

I'm completely on my own doing this so very very scared and to top it off I have severe anxiety and depression.

Thanks for reading and sorry for long post.
Xx

Justtheonethen, my baby is due 9th March too!!! I'm already counting down the weeks till I meet her. I am presuming she's a girl no idea why!!
Looking forward to having our much longed for 2nd baby but also not feeling sick.

LucindaE · 12/08/2017 11:36

Crown Oh dear, I am sorry that Ondansetron and Cyclizine togeher ren't working. Some doctors add B vitaimins, I gather. There are steroids, but they are very much used as a last resort, when the vomiting is really uncontrollable. Do you have acidity? An anti heartburn med can make a huge difference, say, ranitidine. Sorry, please remind me: how many episodes are you having a day and how far along are you? Almost everyone feels a lot of relief at some time between 14-21 weeks. Even the unlucky ones who suffer throughout only very occasionally suffer as badly as they did in the first part (only one woman on this thread so far).
Justtheone and User1477 have added you.

Went to the pharmacy to ask about heartburn meds as I'm starting to get it at night time now and Gaviscon chewy tablets were advised and I have to say, they are foul! But they do work, I just need to remember to take them before I brush my teeth so I can get rid of the taste.

Got my meds renewed over the phone by the OB, after the midwife was useless on the phone "Oh you have no medicine left? Whatever shall we do?" er... shouldn't you know what to do?? I've cut down to half a tablet though and so far so good. Have been ordered to try having a break from them in two weeks time to see if I'm still being sick or not (was sick the night before I called the midwife - came out of nowhere as I had been feeling so much better the last couple of weeks)

Natsku · 12/08/2017 12:53

Oh and when are the hormone surges? So I can be prepared for possible worsening of sickness. I'm 16 weeks today (and have a very visible bump already - someone gave me a dirty look buying a bottle of brandy today, for cooking I might add, not for me to drink!)

user1471462428 · 12/08/2017 13:32

Ok I already know the answer is go to A&E but I just threw up a tiny bit of blood probably same size as a five pence piece and my stomach hurt ( I've been retching all morning) just want to hide in bed. Anybody else had this?

Natsku · 12/08/2017 13:41

Was the blood bright red? If so then its probably from your throat getting irritated from all the vomiting (I cough up blood every time I vomit). If its a darker red or brown/black then that's much more worrying as that means bleeding in the stomach (have had that happen too, was a gastric ulcer that had started bleeding)
