looks like i was conned by that website then! dh wont be pleased! it wa only £50, but still, its annoying! i will leave him to deal with it when he gets back from his trip (that will please him!!!)

had a friend round this afternoon who got pg the same time as me but miscarried. it was a bit difficult and we talked about her and how she was feeling and coping, but kind of ignored the fact that i am pg!

haven't really caught up on everyones posts, sorry! nice to see you here though kitkat! i thought you had been eaten!

greedygreedyguzzler · 02/05/2007 18:19

i cant wait to get past 20 weeks by the way! seems like a bit of a milestone once you are past halfway!

fettleandminifettle · 02/05/2007 19:35

Hi girls, I'm back!

I've tried to catch up, but there is too much to read!!!

Sounds like everyone is well.

Great news you are back under MW-care, Firsty! Can't believe you've only got 12 weeks left, but probably so can't you!!

Greedy - happy birthday for yesterday! Sorry to hear about the bleeding, what does the MW say about it all? I am seriously thinking about reusables, but only when baby is a bit older, as the first few weeks are easier with disposables and when travelleing and overnight, I think I'll stick with disposables - definitely less leakage, methinks. But surely any use is better than nothing for the environment? I'll speak to my friend about it, who used them with her first and her second is due in a few weeks. If she uses them again, I'll know they were sucessful last time!!

I'm still not giving in to DH to get a new pram - saw a bugaboo being demonstrated last Saturday and it looked far to complicated for me!!!

I love all Julia Donaldson's books - DD has them all, but unfortunately has a love of Angelina Ballerina, which is so terminally dull!!!! But she won't take no for an answer.

anyway, I'm just back from Naples. Not really sure I liked it. At least 3 of our company got mugged at gunpoint - thank goodness it wasn't me. If I'd lost this baby, due to something that happened like that when i was away due to work rather than out of choice, I'm not what I would have done. Anyway, DH has told me to stop moaning, but I'm really wound up about how they put us in so much danger. We even had armed guards to walk with us in our black tie gear (looking really not conspicious at all) to out for dinner last night!!! Ridiculous. Anyway, i've got it off my chest now!!!!! I'm fine, minifet is fine, well at least I think he is. Not felt much movement the last few days, but I haven't been feeling much anyway so far.

i'll try and catch up more tomorrow - DH needs to use the computer to work now!

take care all
xxx

Oh dear Fettle that sounds like a fairly dramatic trip!!! We stopped off in Naples once just for 1 day and it did seem really dodgy. . Glad you are home in one piece!

Hope you had a good birthday Greedy!!?? Shame about that web-site, you never know though? At least it wasn't more than £50. Hope the bleeding has stopped? (Dont want to tempt fate again!).

Good to see you back Kitkat and thanks to you and Babymad for sorting our our EDD dates better. It all sounds so close - even yours Honeyapple - it'll creep up before you know it.

I was about to say we haevn't bought too much for the LO but then I started to think about it.... A foldy travel cot type thing (parents live next to a beach so am imagining nice trips down there!), a toy for the car, night light, a few vests and probably some other things I've fortgotten!!!

Happy shopping those of you / us who are going soon.

Good luck MrsMc - I really really hope this is your month. I know if must be so hard to avoid symptom spotting We'll all be keeping everything crossed! [grin[

fettleandminifettle · 02/05/2007 21:04

Hi Girls

Feeling really sad, just found out my friend who was visiting a couple of weeks ago, lost her baby last Saturday at 11 weeks. So so sad, we were due to be so close together. She's already had one very early mc, so I hope she conceives again really quickly.

Why is having babies so hard?

Bodkin · 02/05/2007 22:54

Sorry to hear that Fettle, I really am. There seems to be a few of us in that situation and it just seems like such a lottery doesn't it.

Greedy - Happy Birthday! Another '73er - must've been a good vintage - there's quite a few of us aren't there? That sounds like a bit of a mare about the Bump2Babe thing. It's horrible when that happens, makes you lose all faith in internet shopping, and when you live in the sticks like me it is bloody essential!

MrsMc - sounds like you have a good strategy in place - and like you say, there seems to be a few members of your family with the condition and healthy offspring, so that must make you feel fairly optimistic about things.

Babymad - glad to hear you are back on top of things again. I've been very much on a rollercoaster this pg - either really cool and chilled and just getting on with it, or a complete stressed panic merchant - luckily I seem to be the former at the moment, although am a bit worried about the amount of work I still have to do.

As for buying stuff for the baby.... erm....... well, I've bought the sum total of NOTHING so far. poor thing. Just haven't had the time to think about what else we need to get.

Like the new layout of the EDDs - looks a bit more scary though!

Hello to everyone else I haven't mentioned. By the way, my mum is still here (driving me slowly up the wall, but that's normal) She is currently down the pub with my DP and another friend... yeah thanks guys - i'll just clean up here then shall I?

Hello guys- apparently Greedy has had some good news with that website... the woman was away who runs it... but is going to sort out all the orders soon...

Awful to hear about your friend Fettle. It is really only through websites like this that I have discovered how hard pregnancy can be. My sister did have a miscarriage at 10 wks before she had her children, but I was in Australia at the time and so never really saw the impact on her. When I returned home she was pregnant again. She talks quite frankly about it now.

Cor, Naples sounds scary! Remember not to add that to my city break list... I was reading in a PG book the other day that traumatic accidents are very unlikely to cause a late miscarriage. And that they are mostly due to maternal illness. (Dont feel so bad about my ladder incident... bum still sore though) - Greedy I have a broken bit of sacrum (sp?) from earlier accident- any advice? Was meant to have an operation but I bottled it.

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/05/2007 12:36

fettle - nice to see you back. so sorry to hear about your friend, made me cry reading that. 11 weeks seems almost safe too doesn't it?
my parents got their bags stolen in naples when they were there, glad you survived! sounds like a place i never want to go to!

i got an email backl from that website and apparently the woman who runs it had to go to america unexpectedly cos of a death in the family. hurrah! (not for her obviously!.......am i being a bit insensitive!?.........but at least i haven't lost my money!)

i like the new set out of EDDs too! looks good! we just need a few more to add to the bottom of the list or i will be left talking to fettle and honeyapple! BORING!

honeyapple · 03/05/2007 12:37

Goingfor3 has just got a BFP- do you remember her from TTC threads Greedy?

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/05/2007 12:37

only joking by the way fettle and honey! thought i had better say that cos i managed to make my friend who is pg cry yesterday when i sent her a jokey text telling her she needed psychiatric help! so i should have learnt my lesson that pg women can't take jokes!

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/05/2007 12:39

got lots to say to you honey, just saw i crossed with you, but have a patient waiting, will be abkc laeter

honeyapple · 03/05/2007 12:40

Ok!

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/05/2007 12:42

panic over! turns out patient waiting wasn't for me! means my one hasn't turned up and didn't cancel or anything! ARRRRGGGHHH! some people are so inconsiderate! anyway means i am £35 down, but i can chat for a bit! HURRAH!!!

yes i remember goingfor3! yippee! i will hunt down her news in a bit!

when did you break your sacrum and what was the op supposed to do? can you remember? have you had problems with it since?

honeyapple · 03/05/2007 12:48

Greedy- I damaged the base of my spine 9 yrs ago in a car crash where I left the vehicle and surfed down the tarmac on my arse . Anyway, since then my bottom always gets sore and numb when I sit for too long- ie in the car/ cinema...

About 5 yrs ago I went to the GP who referred me to a specialist in bones (!!) and had a scan (one when you go in that tunnel thingy) anyway it was pretty inconclusive... but they said surgery was only option... but when I heard I would be bed bound for 6 wks I decided not to bother. I havent broken my coccyx- they thought it was a piece of the sacrum snapped off... Oh and I have a bumpy bone bit sticky out of the top of my bottie- which makes people sick when they feel it. (a good party trick).

Sorry- not very scientific description. the surgery was going to be investigative becuase they couldnt see what was wrong on the scan.

Didnt seem to effect giving birth (bloody painful whatever).

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/05/2007 13:02

Ah! prob not a lot you can do about it now to be honest. it would have healed up however it was going to years ago. you will just have to put up with the numbness when sitting! surgery sounds a bit drastic and if any nerves got damaged at the time (which could be causing the numbness) they are unlikely to recover if you did have surgery now cos it was so long ago it happened!
the fall off the ladder might have knocked something back into place! you never know!

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/05/2007 14:08

my cancellation rescheduled so i dont mind!
firsty - i love you! you seem as sweet as ever! i think you are the ready of the ante - natal threads! if you knew ready then that makes sense doesn't it?

MrsMcJnr · 03/05/2007 14:59

Firststar ? hope your MW appointment goes well today Thank you for your lovely words. Hope you are not in too much pain.

Greedy ? I hope friends don?t feel like that with me ? that said, the majority of the pg ones are still avoiding me. Haven?t seen them for 9 weeks now. One (supposed to be my BF) keeps cancelling get togethers with me An ex colleague excitedly told me she was pregnant last night on the train, I was really genuinely excited for her and felt fine in feeling that way but then she said she was 18 weeks and due in October and I felt my smile fall away a little bit, it was just so hard because it reminded me of my lost baby so acutely but luckily I don?t thinks she noticed. It is so hard both ways I think! Glad all is fine with that website.

Hello Fettleandmini how awful about your tip and the muggings! So glad you are and mini and fine Sorry to hear about your friend

Hello Chooster hope you are enjoying the sunshine and that MW went well today.

Hey Bodkin ? I?m another 73er! Thanks for your words Maybe my aunt was just a lucky one, it?s hard to know when she?s the only one I know of with the condition but hopefully they will all be tested now there are 2 of us with it.

Honeyapple that?s good about the website for Greedy. Hope you are ok now after your fall. It is lovely news for Goingfor3!

One of my friends is being induced next week 10 weeks early! She has a ?ive blood group and as this is her 2nd child, the antibodies she developed last time round are now attacking this baby to an extent that it needs a blood transfusion ASAP. She is being so brave about it all though. I think it?ll be such a relief for her when the baby is born and she doesn?t have to worry anymore

greedy- yup i thought as much. I will just live with it- I'm glad you think surgery a bit drastic- that's what I reckoned. TBH it doesnt bother me that much because I am so used to it. I suppose the only possible problem is that I sit in a funny way, sort of on one bum cheek... and that probably isnt too good for the rest of my spine...(?)

Mrs- good to hear from you as always. 2WW eh.. how's it going? Feeling positive? Did you have good sex sessions ? Your friend sounds very brave. 10 wks is quite a bit early isnt it- hope the baby is ok and doesnt need too much intervention.

Firsty- good to hear you are 'normal'!

mrs - i met up with my friend who had her miscarriage cos of what you said about people avoiding you and how you didnt like it! i might well have made some excuse otherwise! its very hard to know what to do when you haven't been there yourself. 2 ww again already! i read you were feeling quite positive this cycle, does that still stand?

goingfor3 · 03/05/2007 17:49

It's so nice to see people talking about me! It's also very nice to be able to join this thread! I got my BFP and am hoping it stays for another 8 months or so. When do you tel your other children, I was going to wait until after the 12 week scan.
