Hi All

Greedy - thanks for thinking of me - due 2nd Oct, but you nearly right!!!

Your poor DS, hope he better in the morning. I think my little DD had a bit of cystitis earlier this week, poor thing. But some paracetamol, early night, nappy cream and lots of water seems to have sorted it out - she was pretty miserable on Tuesday night though.

Really annoyed tonight and just have to share it, although I don't know how many will appreciate it. Found out today that I had DD 20 hours too late {20 HOURS!!!), that she is not eligible for free nursery funding until September!! That's a lot of money, I'm losing out on - i'm totally furious. It says you are eligible the term after your child turns 3. Her birthday is on April 1st, Term doesn't start until 17th April - so someone explain why she isn't eligible and set the cut of date as 31st March!!! ANGRY

Rant over - at least I'm not thinking much about the morning - although my childcare option for DD tomorrow am has fallen through - or rather broken her finger, so we need to take her with us and the scan letter is pretty firm on the fact that that is not allowed, but I'm not going on my own, with my history!

Oky-dokey - time for some ice-cream, which I never actually had the other night.

Bodkin Due 15/07/07 (23 weeks?)
Firststar Due 26/07/07 (22 wks)
Chooster Due 22/07/07 (22 wks)
Conkertree Due 01/08/07 (21 weeks)
Babymad Due 03/08/07 (20 weeks as from 16/3)
Pinkranger Due 22/08/07 ( 18 +1)
Kitkat Due 30/08/07 (nearly 17 weeks - although I look like I'm 30 weeks...)
Honeyapple Due 28/10/07 (8 wks)
Greedy due 5/10/07 (12 weeks)
Fettle due 2/10/07 (12+3 weeks)

take care all

Morning!

I think all children have a fiddle now and then. I just let my DC know it's fine, but don't do it in public! And my DD still has a thing for labels! She always has her hands down the back of her knickers! She sucks her thumb and strokes the label with her other hand. Her cousin did it too, but my sister decided to put that yucky nail polish stuff on her thumb to stop her, because she was sucking her thumb at school... and then drifting off into a wonderful dream!

I remember DS getting erections when he was newborn... it was quite funny really! and once when he was three, he got quite upset, saying his willy had gone hard and was hurting! So I tried to sort it out (ie push it down into his pants), and ended up scratching his willy and drawing blood,
whoops!

Bodkin- my DS was a nightmare baby, hardly slept, cried all evening, terrible colic... anyway I was really worried about it when PG with DD... so I decided to pick her up less, and generally try to have a better routine. And she was an amazing baby. Slept all night long from 6 wks old. Freaky. Fingers crossed I get another like that. I do think though that 1st babies are often hardest, because the parents don't really know what to do. I thought I was terrible chilled out when I had DS but I still panicked whenever he was sick or screaming. And I am sure he picked up on my worries.

Good luck Fettle!

Just seen a post about smoking in PG.. and it's one of the women from my October thread. I really can't feel sympathetic. I smoked before I had children, but as soon as I discovered I was PG (not planned PG) I stopped straight away. And I HATE people that smoke around children. My neighbour's daughter was PG a few months ago, and she kept sitting on the front step to have a fag. Made me quite cross. But never said anything to her about it. A friend of mine is a mid-wife and she says that smoking in PG is one of the minor things she has to worry about... .

Hi all

At work, so sorry must be quick - but all ok. Saw a beating heart straight-off - started shaking and crying with relief!! Sonographer was very sweet and understanding. Minifettle wasn't moving very much though, so she tried everything to make him move for me, so that I could have my mind put completely to rest. He did then move a little bit and wave at us, so we have a photo of that - convinced it is boy, as he looked happy and relaxed lying nestled at the bottom of my womb, but obviously don't know yet - DD took copies of the photos into nursery and I left with her saying, look my pictures of Mummy's Monkey!!!

But, my due date has been moved forward to 23rd Sept, which she says makes me 12+6 - I really cannot believe that. My dates from temping give me a date of 12+4 and I don't think DH and I did the deed at the right time, as I would have just finished bleeding from my mc then!!! Head measures at 12+5, but I'm having another monster baby and it was the length (13+2) that moved my due date - how those measurements then transpire to 12+6 I don't know, but she has been scanning for 30 years - so she knows best!! Just have to keep an eye on things - as they induced me at 36 weeks with DD and if they have to do that again, it will be a bit concerning if their dates are even a week earlier than I think they should be. But anyway, look at me, looking forward to then already - have to get my head around everything first and there is a long way to go still!

DH is over the moon, which I'm so happy about, as I didn't think he was really on board with this pg as he was really worried about me losing it again, but seeing minifettle has made him realise how much he wants another one!!

Anyway, I'm sorry if you've read this post on several threads, I'm going to be really lazy and just copy and paste it, I'm afraid.

love to all

Chooster · 23/03/2007 12:05

How's your son Greedy? I hope getting better - poor soul. I worry endlessly that DS has some awful illness / disease as soon as he is slightly off colour - I guess its all natural really! Does the worry ever really stop?

Ahhh, bless your DD Bodkin. It really made me smile when you said your DD wants the baby to wear brown. That is really very cute...

Fettle - can totally understand your anger! Like you said it has a financial impact which you could probably do without. My DS is 3 in May so I guess he'll get funding from September too. I must confess I've hardly thought about all this yet as I know I'm going to keep him at the nursery he's currently at - albeit it should be a bit cheaper.

Really really hope the scan has gone well!!! Look forward to hearing from you xx

Honeyapple - your DS sounds perfect! What an angel - it must make you so proud to see him look after his sister so well I'm with you on the smoking thing. I smoked before pregnant with DS (unplanned) but like you stopped straight away. There is a lady on our antenatal thread who is really trying to stop and is getting help with it but still has the odd one or two a day. I think good on her for trying and at least being aware of the problems it can cause. The people who annoy me are the ones who carry on puffing away as if they really dont care about the consequences. Anyway... rant over.

I had my doctors appt today and despite a few mishaps (he tipped over my urine sample so I had to squeeze another wee out!) all seems to be well. I'm measuring exactly right for just short of 23 weeks and blood pressure was great. I'm working from home today (aka on mumsnet) so its nice and relaxing.

Chooster · 23/03/2007 12:09

Oh Fettle and mini-fettle am so so so pleased for you all!!! Thats fabulous news... Here's me waffling on about spilt wee and you were posting your news. I'm really happy for you - your sense of relief will be amazing. So, mini fettle is a little boy monkey - that'll be a first for MN I'm sure

fettleandminifettle · 23/03/2007 12:27

Meant 13+6, if anyone is interested, not 12+6 - oops!!!

still smiling

honeyapple · 23/03/2007 13:09

HURRAH! Great News Fettle!!
Funny about the dates... I think it's better to go with when you think babe is due TBH. Especially as you were temping and keeping a record of it all. Seems unlikely that you got PG when the sonographer said?

Chooster- yes DS is an angel, most of the time! I am just about to make him a High School Musical T-shirt for his school disco tonight... he is going as Troy... anybody know what I am talking about???

I can't wait till my scan! Still 13 days away...

Chooster · 23/03/2007 13:40

Gosh a high school musical t-shirt! Dont know what you mean but sounds good!! How old is he?? School disco's eh?

Bodkin · 23/03/2007 13:47

Yay Fettle! That is fantastic news. And further on than you thought too - what a bonus! It must be a lovely feeling to be able to start thinking about it as a baby (or a monkey!) rather than just a set of symptoms! That is annoying about the funding, I had the same thing this term - DDs bday is 5th Jan, so have had to pay a whole term of fees I could have well done without! Just got my bill for next term though - a big fat £0!! Sorry to rub it in, but it has made my day

Honeyapple - ah, the old school disco...
Thanks for your wise words about nightmare babies. I thought I was pretty chilled too, but maybe not... She actually wasn't a bad little sleeper, but when she was awake, she was just very uncomfortable in her own skin, would only be carried bent forwards over an arm (we called her the human teatowel) Looking back, it might have been reflux...

Chooster - at working from home/on mumsnet!

conkertree · 23/03/2007 13:54

great news fettle.

cant join in really with all the stories as this is my first, but am storing up all the info from you all about your lo's - always think i will be totally chilled out when this one comes, but probably everyone thinks that and nobody actually is.

Yep, just finished the T-shirt. Rather pleased with myself! Had to hunt all morning for a plain red T-shirt though... you wouldnt believe the problems...
anyway, High School Musical is a programme on the Disney channel, and his school disco has this as it's theme. Very popular with kids at the mo, apparently...
So, I have cut out from white felt letters to spell.. WILDCATS and then number 14 underneath... to be Troy's basketball top...
then stuck them all on with that iron-on sticky stuff. Hope they don't all fall off whilst he's boogie-ing. (he is 8 BTW).

Just going to get them all from playgroup/school now...

greedyforbabies · 23/03/2007 14:51

fettleandminifettle! (love the new name!) - i am so so so so so pleased for you. i am so glad everything is ok, i realy am. at my scan on wed they made me 12+3 when i thought i was only 11+5 (i think). in my area they only change your dates on your notes if the scan disagrees by more than a week, so my date will stay as 5th oct, but i actually now think after trying to calculate EXACTLY when i ov'd that i might be due a few days earlier. its nice to have a week or so added on though and in your circumstances i guess your temps could have been a bit erratic and not truly accurate. i heard the very early scans are supposed to be the most accurate and mine were spot on then with the dates. anyway! who cares? your scan was fab and thats all that matters!!!

my ds is still ill today bless him. he did manage to come to gymnastics with me and dd and sit in the corner looking all weak and pathetic though!(and he managed to tell the head coach that i have got a baby in my tummy !)
he asked me the question i have been dreading this mornign too...."how does the baby get out of your tummy?" what could i say?..........i told him all about my 'special hole' and then he told dd that when she is a lady she will get a baby in her tummy if she falls in love and kisses someone!!! yes, he really is only 3 yrs 8 months!

just had to explain where bambi's mummy had gone as well( i knew i shouldn't have let him watch it!) he gets very upset at the thought of people going to heaven. he keeps asking me when me and daddy are going? it makes me cry!

i just put my dd down for her lunchtime and nap and 5 mins later she was banging on the door! confused me completely cos she is still in a sleeping bag in a cot! she had got out of her sleeping bag and clambered out of her cot! so i think i am buying her a bed this afternoon! i was trying to put it off till we had had our extension! but she obviously has other ideas!

have a fab weekend all!

greedyforbabies · 23/03/2007 14:57

oh dear! my last post really was ME ME ME wasn't it? SORRY!

hope your ds enjoys his disco tonight honeyapple (how cute!) and 13 days will fly by! i still think your pg is going really quickly! its really nice that you will have the same gap between your 3. i would have liked that in theory but not in reality. (there's only 17 months between my first 2) but i do worry that no.3 will be left out!
SORRY....there i go again!.......ME ME ME!

gotta go buy a bed!

Bodkin · 23/03/2007 16:57

Greedy - STOP! Don't buy that bed yet! Top tip - put sleeping bag on back to front (zip at the back) Unless she's Harry Houdini, I reckon you could buy yourself at least another 6 months! I managed to keep DD in cot and having a 2 hour nap every afternoon until she was 2.9 - it was fab. Only stopped doing it because she was taking longer and longer to get to sleep at night, otherwise, she'd probably still be there now (age 3.3!)

Honeyapple - your costume making endeavours sound excellent. I bet he has a great time.

greedyforbabies · 23/03/2007 19:39

good plan bodders! i am glad i opted for tescos this afternoon now instead of the bed shop! i guess i have chooster ( i think!) to thank for that, cos suddenly my urge for boursin was overwhelming and i had to go and buy some more than a new bed for dd! i will try the back to front thing then. she is fine at night time cos shes knackered, its just during the day when she doesn't really NEED a sleep anymore and so she tends to play in her cot before nodding off. thanks bodders!

honeyapple · 25/03/2007 10:47

Hi,
Hope everyone has had a good weekend (so far)
just trying to get my head around the clocks changing...

I realised I said my scan was 13 days away, but looking back at the diary it is actually still 16 days away . Seems ages. I'm not very good at waiting am I!

Happy Sunday to you all.

1sttimeM2B · 25/03/2007 12:03

Hi all, I'm new to mumsnet, and am new to pregnancy, just found out yesterday!! After doing 2 tests, (didn't quite believe the first one!!)

I am at five weeks so I guess due around Mid November. I am hoping to get a docs appointment to confirm everything this week.

Sorry to get straight into personal questions, but I have had slightly discoloured discharge (almost like the aftermath of a period) is this normal?

Chooster · 26/03/2007 08:21

Congratulations 1sttimeM2B!!! Thats great news! I have no personal experience but spotting or discoloured discharge can be very normal - you learn a lot on MN! I'd guess the thing to do is just keep an eye on whats going on and perhaps see a GP is anything gets worse or you are worried. On this thread we are all at various stages of pregnancy but to find people at the same stage as you - pop along to the antenatal section where you'll see a whole heap of threads for people due in a cerain month. November will be there... In the meantime, I hope the spotting has stopped already Keep us posted!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Like you Honeyapple, I've been trying to get my head around the time change, which seems to be just what we needed we DS. He was starting to get up earlier and earlier and as a result it wasn't uncommon for him to be in bed before 7pm cos he was knackered. Now he seems on a much better timezone

Well, I am now officially closer to 40 than 30. It was my 35th birthday yesterday! Hooorray!!! I had a fantastic weekend even though DH was working for part of it. DS was on top form and we had a whole heap of fun. My fave pressie was from DH who got me an big version of my favourite photo of DS on a canvas. He said he couldnt think of anything I'd want more than a big picture of my best pal - and he was right!

Hope everyone else is doing well. I'm full of the joys of spring today! Better weather can make a massive difference to how we feel can't it.

I hope you've had a wonderful relaxing weekend Fettle - I bet its been a great one for you since your scan

Chooster · 26/03/2007 08:25

I just read that back and it sounds like I was sending you over to the antenatal area! Sorry 1sttimeM2B - It can just be another useful place to look

KitKat30 · 26/03/2007 08:27

Morning everyone - hope you had good weekends?

1sttimeM2B - congratulations! Welcome to MN!

Argh honeyapple - mine scan is 25 days away!!!! How am I going to wait that long?!?

Fettle - yay fantastic news!!! I'm so pleased for you hon.

So is it just me, Conker and firststar expecting our 1st babies? Are the rest of you all seasoned pros?!?
