Wow Greedy, your DH is a legend! sounds lovely, lucky you.

Honeyapple - we've got some good friends in Hastings (who used to live in Tunbridge Wells), we take it in turns to make the trek to visit each other. I really like mooching round the old town there. Glad to hear you are starting to feel better - the second trimester is definitely the best - I am missing it already now I am officially 6 months (today!) Nesting instinct going bonkers already. Just cleaned out a load of manky old toast crumbs from under the breadbin. Like that really needed doing at 10.15pm on a Sunday night....

Chooster · 16/04/2007 08:34

Sounds like everyone is having a great weekend! The weather was fab... We headed off to my mums on the Northumberland coast and it was gorgeous - I'm a bit pink today though - when will I learn that you can still get sunburnt in April

Wow, Greedy, your DH sounds amazing and what a fantastic trip!!! I know my DH would love for us to go away for a couple of days but as I'm working full time I just know I'll miss DS too much if we do it. Although your trip has inspired me to maybe think of something to cheer him up once he's not working from the start of June. He's got a plan for work but it'll involve working for himself. I reckon its going to be great for him but I guess he feels anxious about it not going well. I know a couple of you work for yourselves and I guess the confidence only comes once you've started up?

Thanks for your info on the prams babymad!!

Bodkin - My DS ADORES camper vans - he calls them baby buses and he must have about 10 toy ones. He gets so excited when he sees one. If only you just lived closer playing in it would keep him happy all day I'm trying to think of something nice to get him from the baby when DS2 arrives and I'm trying to think if there's anything baby bus related I can find????? (Apart from a real one )

My one 'Grrrrrr' at the weekend was about my size. There was kind of a mini pary at my mums on Sunday and at one point my Aunt says, "God how many are you packing away in there" At which point the 'size' conversation started. "Wow, your going to be massive in 3 months time" and "That must be a big boy in there" and to top it all "You know sometimes babies can hide begind each other during a scan so they may not realise its more than one!" I don't mind the odd comment but there had been a lot of wine drunk and the women in my family dont hold back. Sorry for the rant, but why do people think its right to say "It must be a big baby" at this stage. The baby is still relatively small so essentially what they are saying is that "You're big"... Anyway back at work now with a bright red nose so that will take the emphasis away from my bump

BabyMadwithBump · 16/04/2007 10:30

When we were TTC this LO we told they we were trying to make a baby, they asked how baby gets in there let alone OUT, we told them that Daddy has half a seed and Mummy has half a seed we have to put them together and see if it grows, (mummy's tummy is the plant pot LO) sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't, in our case it didn't for 18 months, but last year DS#1 brought some sunflower seeds home from school, some did grow and some didn't which helped the boys understand that mummy and daddy seed didn't grow for a long time but now it is, and they are so happy bless! It's nice that we've been open with them from the beginning and they've understood every step of the way, they also have a book "there's a house in my mummy tummy" or something like that, which also helps!

BabyMadwithBump · 16/04/2007 11:01

Just phoned my MW, been loo and (TMI) just had a big CM plug come away size of 10/50p there abouts, so phoned MW stright away she said it may be nothing to worry about, to take it easy today and if a get any cramps phone to hospital, she siad some ladies replace there "C-plug" over the time of the PG so it more than likely that!

settee, legs up, choc's and tv today for me then, and I was so looking forward to cleaning the house too, LOL!

Chooster · 16/04/2007 12:37

Hope you are doing OK babymad. You've had a couple of scares with this pregnancy haven't you! Interesting to hear that sometimes the plug gets replaced. Its amazing whats classed as 'normal' but yet you just dont hear about it. Enjoy putting your feet up - the house cleaning can just wait!

BabyMadwithBump · 16/04/2007 13:04

yes a few scares, this baby is really making me work for him/her! LOL! oh well my easter egg needed finshing off anyway!

Hi all. Quickie for Chooster - you could get him one of these!

greedyforbabies · 16/04/2007 20:02

how cute bodders! go on chooster chops! get him one of those!!!! my ds is into dinosaurs and LOVES his dinosaur tops!

have started potty training my dd today! forgotten how exhausting it is for the first few days! i had such a successful time with ds i am worried that i am expecting the same from her and might be disapointed if she doesn't pick it up as quickly as him! i wanted to have at least a few nappy free months before new baby turns up! it was a relief to put a nappy on her and get her to bed! poor little thing! she has done really well today, its just hard with my ds hanging around all the time and constantly asking her if she needs to do a wee or if she is going to wee on the floor again?! bless her!

fettleandminifettle · 16/04/2007 20:15

How cute is that T-shirt??! We used to have a camper van just like that when I was growing up - used to love going away for picnics in it at weekends. Mum used to drive it onto the lawn at home, and we could "camp" in the garden when we were a little older - great memories !!!

Greedy, fantastic sounding weekend - hope DH and I managed a weekend away before September, but not sure we will. I'm going away with work in 2 weeks to Italy, so pulling in my baby-sitting favour from my mother for that, unfortunately. Normally great fun, but as I won't be drinking this time, will be interesting.

Also, Greedy, good luck on the potty training front - our DD was a dream, almost did it herself a year ago. I'm dreading doing it again, as I think it was far too easy with her and I've been led into a false sense of security! Not even considering through the night potty training at the moment - seems too much like hard work!!

Been offered a promotion at work today, as I was expecting. i think it is mine, unless someone else expresses an interest and then there will be a selection process. Boss knows I'm pg, HR doesn't, but it shouldn't make a difference. Should mean more money for maternity leave, which would be good, but still undecided as to whether to go back afterwards at the moment.

got to go - supper's ready - back soon.

fettleandminifettle · 16/04/2007 20:35

Sorry - had to dash off - back again!

Babymad, I hope you are feeling better and had a nice relaxing day.

As for feeling large - I'm dreading getting any bigger - at 16 weeks, I'm looking pretty lardy and it can only get bigger!! Someone at work told me today that pg tummies are beautiful though, so she was jealous , but she also said she'd seen someone at the weekend, who was so pg but small in body with it, that her huge bump was almost pulling her forward off-balance!

I'm sure both you Chooster and firststar look simply radiant and blooming!!

Fantastic news on DH feeling the baby move - makes a huge difference to it all feeling more real to them i think - you've had that actual feeling of life for weeks now, but now he can start to experience it too! I can't wait until i can feel this one move more regularly - I love the sensation.

Anyway, must go again - take care all
xxx

Bodkin · 16/04/2007 21:18

Back for a bit longer now! Fettle - that's great about the promotion! Hope that all works out for you. Lucky you having a camper van as a kid. I was always soooo jealous when we went camping in our leaky tents of all those people in their lovely vans. Now we are smug gits watching DVDs on the portable player in our double bed up in the roof with hot chocolate, while DD sleeps downstairs behind the backseats. Don't quite know how we are going to fit baby bodders (or even my bump) in yet though...

Greedy, that would be nice if your DD is in pants by the time the baby comes wouldn't it. Really hope it goes well for you - sounds like you got off to a good start!

Babymad - really like the way you explained the baby making process to your DS's, seems like they got the idea pretty well. Hope things are ok and you're not getting any cramps... good excuse for a day on the sofa if nothing else...

Chooster, that must have been very irritating, all those comments on your bump. I get a mixed bag of reactions - people who don't know me very well are surprised I am as far gone as 6 months, those that know me well (and saw me when pg last time) think I look huge... yeah, cheers, mates.... I'd love to get a campervan t-shirt like that for my DD, but she is too picky about what she wears these days, and she'd spot it as a "boysy" (her word) t-shirt a mile off...

Chooster · 17/04/2007 08:18

Hey ladies - Thanks for the link Bodders! He's already got it and the red t-shirt with the baby bus on it from the same place. If I hadn't given up so easily trying to put the photos on I'd pop one of him in it up there. He's baby bus obsessed!! I've had a look on the camper van web sites but most gifts are ceramic, like ceramic clocks and things. They just dont cater for your average 2 yr old fan

Good luck with the potty training Greedy! Hope she picks it up quickly - at least the weather's good. I got home yesterday and DS was stripping off in the garden to get in his sandpit - very cute.

Congratulations on the promotion Fettle The extra money would be great and the its always nice to be offered something like that. Well done!

Ah, all those stories about camping out in camper vans - that sounds great!!! Am sure baby bodders can squeeze in there somewhere

greedyforbabies · 17/04/2007 08:18

bodders - my dh is picky about what she wears too! definately a girl thing! when does the 'pink' obsession stop hey? i am sick of it already! Dora and pink! thats all i ever hear!!! luckily she has some pink dora big girl pants so i am hoping she will be extra keen on keeping tham dry!

firsty and chooster - just ignore EVERYTHING anyone ever says about your bump! unless its something nice! last time lots of people told me i was huge, but my midwife told me i wasn't very big (so i believed her!) people will say ANYTHING! and really whatever they say is wrong!!! one of my friends had the smallest neatest bump ever (i thought it was perfect), but she HATED people telling her she wasn't very big and got paranoid about the baby not growing properly! so you cant win either way!..................one thing i do hate though is people thinking they can comment on the rest of you!...........like.."OOooooooooo you are putting it on all over are't you?"

fettle - have you felt baby yet then? i think i have a cuople of times, but its hard to be sure isn't it?
i am going to work this afternoon and leaving my mum with the potty training ! poor woman! my ds was great too and touchwood we have only ever had 2 accidents! and none of them during the night! not sure dd can quite live up to that! i am sure she will try though! speach is her problem! she isn't very clear, so telling people when she needs to go will be tricky!

whatever happened to conkertree and the 2 pinkys hey? they seem to have left us!

greedyforbabies · 17/04/2007 08:19

i knew i meant to say something else to you fettle ! - congrats on your job you smart cookie! well done!

BabyMadwithBump · 17/04/2007 09:55

Felt realy ill last night, room spining, shakey, sicky, feel like I'm not really here and so on, phone my MW this morning she going to do some bloods, one being iron so hopefully thats all it is low iron! But still feeling very fuzzy!
How is everyone else this morning!?

God dam hamster, hamster been dieing all week (dont ask) told my boys and they got very upset, not told them yet that it's finally died, as I want to get them some guinea pigs first to soften the blow, a firend is giving me her hutch and and I have abit of money put aside for them, so all I need to find a pet shop that has some guinea pigs in
really not in the mood to go pet huting, but all in the name of love and all that! guinea pigs here I come!

Bodkin · 17/04/2007 11:52

Aah, Chooster, I see I'll have to get up at the crack of dawn to keep up with you! Am racking brains to think of more campervan things.... Perhaps you'll just have to start a savings fund and buy him the real thing when he turns 17.... think you might win award for coolest mum ever if you did that!

Babymad - hope it is just a bit of anaemia that is making you feel all woozy - treat yourself and DH to a nice steak dinner (if you're not veggie, that is) tonight!

Am just on my second creme egg in a row - most unusual for me, but it seems to be hitting the spot right now!

Greedy - you're right, where is everyone? And what about KitKat, where's she?

Bodkin · 17/04/2007 11:54

Also, Babymad, don't envy you your small furry animal situation. I am dreading the day DD wants a hamster/guinea pig/rabbit. I think I would have to just say NO! and get her a fish instead!

KitKat30 · 17/04/2007 12:07

Helllooooo!!!

I?m back after our mini-break. Feel like I?ve been away for months and months!! Very sad to be back at work today?

Hi everyone.

Babymad- how old was the hamster? My DS has one and it is 1.5 yrs old... how long before it pops its clogs?? Agree you should put your feet up and wait to go on your guinea pig hunt until you are feeling better.

Fettle- congrats on the job!

Greedy- how old is DD again? My DD was MUCH better at the old potty training than DS, so maybe you will find the same thing. I think it is easier for girls to control wee...
mind you she did get awfully constipated which wasnt fun.

I'm really looking forward to this next stage in being PG. I agree Bodkin- 2nd trimester is the nicest. Although, 3rd is more exciting! Not long until you hold your baby.

DP and I have agreed that we arent going to buy a new buggy/pram ... no point really as have 2 already! SIL has decided she isnt going to give us her cot as it is a cot/bed and so wants to use it as a bed for her DD, which is fair enough really- so it looks like I'll be dusting down the dilapidated one in my sister's attic...

Ah yes Bodders, you need to try harder than that to find a camper van pressie that hasn't already been found

Welcome back Kitkat - where were you on your break?

Babymad - hope you are feeling better, when do you get the blood results?!!!

Have a little dilemma that you ladies may be able to help me out with. DH, DS and I were meant to be driving down to London to stay with my cousin and his wife this weekend. They can no longer make it so we've got Friday / Monday off work and no plan.... Any ideas? If we take DS somewhere we can go for 4 days, if me and DH sneak away then I'd only want to go away for 2 days and spend the other 2 with DS. The trouble is being PG I can't use the facilties in a spa, we can't really go up North (just to remind you, we live in Edinburgh) moutain biking or hill walking cos of bump, we can't go anywhere thats based around having a good drink and a shopping trip is out cos of bump / money.

I know that sounds really negative but am just trying to think of something good to do... Greedy, your DH inspired me so I'm going to look to see what shows / concerts are on in London.

Anyway, bright ideas will be rewarded with a . BTW, we can fly places fairly cheaply.

By the way, where is MrsMc..... ????

greedyforbabies · 17/04/2007 13:35

babymad - hope you feel better soon!

kitkat - you have missed so much!!!!.............honeyapple had her scan and is expecting TWINS! Bodders has already had her baby 3 months early and my morning sickness has stopped! (that bit is true at least!!)

firsty - do you know you really do seem like the nicest person in the world! how old are your dsds again? how old were they when you became their smummy?

honeyaplpe - my dd is 2.3. she has a lot to live up to in the potty training dept cos ds was such a star, but hopefully she will be just as good! we will see! she was only on her second pair of pink knickers when i left for work at 12! and she has been VERY considerate with where she has decided to wet her knickers so far! always on our wooden floor or outside, not on the carpet yet!.............................i will probably get home and find she has pissed all over my bed and the sofa!

chooster - i have seen mrs on the temp buddies thread! i think she is ok, she did say she had had a sickness bug though.................i REALLY wish someone would get a BFP on that thread, i feel like they all deserve it so much

PinkButterfly · 17/04/2007 13:50

Hello ladies!! Is this the day for comebacks or what ?? I have been AWOL mainly due to internet access problems (yet again!) but also the fact that the dc?s have been home from school/nursery for two weeks so I have had absolutely no time to get pc sorted out and get online to chat.

So, how are you all? I had a quick look over the chat I?d missed so hopefully am up to speed on events.

MrsMcJ ? Everything crossed for you in your new cycle. Xxxx. Jan babies are the best ? I am one too and I?m just great!! haha Good luck too on securing a lovely break away with your dh ? you both deserve it!

Greedy ? Hope you are feeling much better with your morning sickness now and that your dd is going well with the potty training. I still cannot get my ds2 completely trained and he is now 3.7. He is absolutely fine with his waterworks and only has a night nappy on but during the day still refuses to poo in potty/toilet and comes to ask for a nappy on so he can do his business there! No amount of persuasion or bribery seems to be working so just not putting any pressure on him and hoping he will get round to it before baby comes. They do say boys are more difficult to train than girls and mine were both very late starting so glad this baby is a girl and hopefully she will be easier when the time comes! What a fab anniversary weekend ? I am so envious. Would love to get away with DH but we don?t really have much in the way of available babysitters so the most we get is the odd evening now and again with the ds?s being returned to us at 8am the following morning as MIL works Saturdays and Sundays.

Chooster ? How is your ds doing now ?? Have you been to the baby show in Glasgow yet? I only saw an advertisement for it in newspaper last night and considered going ? let me know what it?s like.

Honeyapple ? hope your chest infection has cleared up now and you are feeling much better. Pleased to hear your scan went well and that your bathroom is almost complete!

Fettle ? lovely to hear you had a fab holiday and congratulations on your promotion !

Firststar ? Any news on your referral ?

Babymad ? Hope you are feeling better today and it?s something simple that some extra supplements can deal with.

Kitkat ? Hello my friend. Think you have been away as long as me and these ladies can?t half chat eh ??? Glad to hear you had a lovely break and are looking forward to another scan on Friday.

Things are just fine with me. Been very busy keeping my little men amused over the holidays. DH only managed two days off work over the entire time so was on my ownsome the rest of the time. Delighted to have them both back at school / nursery today I can tell you.

We made a big decision last week and dh resigned from the company he has worked with for 16 years and accepted a position with another company who have been asking him to join them for the past year. A really fantastic package has been offered which will make a huge difference to us financially and will mean that dh will be at home every weekend too. DH is really happy about it and confident that we have made the right decision but I just find it v. scary him leaving his current position after such a long time and given that he is our sole provider.

Still feeling pretty well apart from some bouts of real tiredness and the heartburn has kicked in but other than that can?t complain. Had appointment at midwife last week and all well with my lo She commented on how large I am and I am measuring a bit bigger than should really be per my weeks but she thinks it?s probably just down to the how small I am anyway and the fact that my babies are generally quite big. I had thought maybe as this baby is a girl she may be smaller but midwife thinks that as I am huge and ALL baby it looks like she will be a bruiser like her brothers were!!! I have appointment with my consultant tomorrow morning and will be given my c-section date then. Can you believe it???? This pg has just flown by!! So, I will add myself our thread dates when I have accurate one tomorrow. DS1 says he thinks it will be 14th June and if he is right he is to get a prize!! What a chancer!!

My goodness this post is heruuuggggeee! Sorry ladies ! I hope I haven?t missed anyone or got any bits mixed up ? I had a lot to catch up on. xx
