Actually it was quite funny, because I booked the whole thing with the client via email and telephone and never met him in person... anyway, sent him some bumpf about the lightair craft flights in Africa that they would need to take... and turned out he was over 18 stone... which is the maximum size person they take, so anyway, poor man had to pay for 2 seats just for him... which added quite a lot to his bill!

Just been looking at buggies on internet... my maclaren is knackered... but will the baby care? NO... Can I really justify spending money on a new one? NO. Do I want a new one? YES! Anybody else with other DC buying new stuff for this arrival?

honeyapple · 12/04/2007 19:17

Where is everybody?
DP gone out with mate down the boozer...
Thinking about putting DD to bed...
Thinking about what to eat... gone off food since being ill, just don't fancy anything.

A lady on my October ante-natal thread has just had a missed m/c- found out at her 12 wk scan. Very sad as she was my PG buddy as we were due pretty much same day- also she has had a m/c before and was being so positive about this PG. Life ain't fair is it.

SIL has had an early scan and seen heart beat which is exciting. Can't believe we are having babies so close together... only about 6 wks apart. Hope they aren't the same sex, or MIL will constantly be comparing them! ie when is X walking/ Y crawling...

greedyforbabies · 12/04/2007 20:23

hi honeyapple - its nice to have someone close to you having a baby at the same time isn't it? one of my friends is 4 weeks behind me (it was 2 of my friends but one of them miscarried). if only my sister could get pg everything would be perfect.
as for buying new things............well........i am currently trying to decide if to buy a double buggy or not. i have had 2 really crap second hand ones in the past. not sure if i will need one or not cos dd will be 2.9 when new baby comes along, but we will be walking to school and back every day with my ds which is about 1 1/2 mile round trip. she is a great little walker and rarely uses her buggy now, but i would hate to have her whinging to be carried or being a pain when i am rushing to get to school. not sure what to think. we will have to buy 2 new car seats too, but only so we can fit them in the car! dont need any clothes, but will no doubt get a few!(actually have already bought some babygros cos i couldn't resist!) do you still have any of your dc's clothes or do you need to restock?

ok..........just off for a poo!

greedyforbabies · 12/04/2007 20:23

was that TMI?????!!!

fettleandminifettle · 12/04/2007 20:46

Far far too much information, Greeds!!!!

My best friend was really close to me with our first DC, only 3 weeks between her DS and our DD. Would have been really close again, if I hadn't miscarried at Christmas. But I've found out another close friend of mine is only 7 weeks behind me, but she's had a previous mc, so she's still taking things really easily still.

Anyway, Honey, I'm the mean one overhere, saying that this LO will manage with all DD's stuff - if it's a boy, i'm even tempted to dress it in pink - nowhere will notice it's sex for a while [I'm only joking, before someone shouts, but it does seem a waste of lots of lovely, pretty clothes DD has barely worn]. DH is desperate to buy a new pushchair - one of the most expensive type, but i'm quite happy with our travel system from Mothercare, so he has a fight on his hands!! He also wants to buy a new car, but that's another fight!!!

Anyway, hope everyone else is well - I've been secretly reading all day, but can't actually remember what everyone's said - will have a think... hhmmm

£14,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11. My mean streak mentioned above meant we went to stay in my grandmother's flat in Mallorca for our honeymoon, romance on a budget. Now wish we'd blown everything on going somewhere exotic, but we had no money back then - should learn to not be so sensible [but DH is still not getting his new car and pram!!!]

Firststar - sorry to hear you've not been referred yet - when I had SPD with DD I was referred, but it took so long to come through, that I saw the physio about 3 weeks before I gave birth - so it was hardly worth it. All she did was give me a strap to wear around my hips, which was so uncomfortable and useless anyway that I didn't bother - Greedy's McTimoney chiropracters sound much better if you find a good one. Wish I lived near you Greedy!! Anyway, I really don't pity you with SPD, it really isn't fun. Just make sure you shout about it during birth to make sure that everyone knows that you have it. That was DH's main priority to make sure they didn't pull my legs apart too far and hard!! The amazing thing was as soon as I'd given birth it almost miraculously disappeared! Starting to get odd twinges now, which is around the same time I got it last time, but trying to remain positive!

anyway, another epic, I should stop now. Finally was brave enough to tell the rest of my team that i'm pg - they were a bit shocked when I said I was 16 weeks on Saturyda, but then I'm pretty shocked I've got this far so quickly!! Just need to tell the office gossip tomorrow, as she is in charge of conferences and we are off on Sales Conference soon and I'll need to let her know all the restrictions on what I can eat, so everyone will know before the end of tomorrow!!!

Right, really am going now - hope poo was good Greedy!!!

xxx

honeyapple · 12/04/2007 20:49

was it a good one?

I gave away ALL my baby clothes so have absolutely none. However my sister is a hoarder and still has some ancient stuff lurking in her attic. Also if it is a girl, I gave most of my DD's stuff to my other SIL and she probably has it all somewhere.
My DP convinced me that we were having no more kids... so I got rid of everything. Also SIL said she's give me her cot and carseat... although now that her sister is PG, she might get first helpings!
There really is no need for me to be looking at pushchairs... and I know that those lie down carry cot things only last for like 4 months at the most... but they look so NICE!
I have realised that as this is a winter baby I won't be doing as much walking about, so one of those prams is even more unneccessary. I think if it was due in the summer then I might have more of an excuse to flash the cash...

sorry, have I convinced myself yet???

Chooster · 12/04/2007 21:30

Aaaargh - just did a long long post and it disconnected.

Anyway, hope the poo was good Greedy - cone back to let you know you are OK cos you've been gone a awful long time (am sure you'll come back with some story about having something interesting in RL to do

I am SO tempted to buy new things for DS2 which is crazy really as I already have a young DS. I'm not going to get any (well, OK, I've got a couple of really cute sleepsuits) clothes, but am going to get a new crib thing and a new buggy. My Graco, which was fab, is knackered and I am really really tempted by the buggies with the lie down cot - I'm with you on that one Honey!!! As DS2 will be a summer baby I thought it would be good to pop him in the pram sleeping / resting which me and DS1 are outside in the garden.... Ummm, my DH thinks its just an excuse to spend money

Sorry you haven't been refered yet Firsty - but at least you saw the letter go off to the hospital - SPD must be awful...

Hi to everyone else - I think we must know different 'Jo's Honey. The one I know is blonde (albeit not natural!) but I think she has always been that way. She's pretty loud though.

Hi to everyone else... Off to bed for me, am knackered.... Or shall I just quickly look on the internet at that remote control cot mobile I saw.... Perhaps I can do without it

Chooster · 12/04/2007 21:32

Forgive all the spelling mistakes!

Bodkin · 13/04/2007 09:50

Hi all. Just has a quick skim read through all the posts so probably will forget half of what's been said...

Firsty - how annoying for you about the referral. Sounds like you are having a very trying pregnancy - no wonder you can't wait until July!

Honeyapple, that's sad about the girl from your Oct thread. I know 4 people in my town who would have been due around the same time as me (give or take a couple of months) who have miscarried. That doesn't seem quite right does it - I thought it was supposed to be 1 in 4 miscarrying, not 4 in 5

Honeyapple - go on - mmmmm nice new shiny Maclaren with all the trimmings... remember it's going to be in constant use for up to 3 years, do you think your old one can take that kind of strain?! I am trying to restrain myself from buying too much, but tbh, with DD1 we were so skint (had just bought a house) that we had hand-me-downs and charity shop for virtually everything. This time round, have a bit of spare cash in the bank so feel I can justify a bit of a splurge. Mind you, have been given the bugaboo on long loan, so that's one major expense sorted... Will definitely be treating baby bodders to a new change mat though

Fettle - well done telling the rest of your team at work. Had anybody guessed?

I have a question about leaky boobs when breastfeeding, which I suffered from terribly last time round (you know those plastic cup things you can slip in your bra on the side you are not feeding from to collect the milk - well, generally that would be full and totally overflowing by the time I had finished the feed....) Anyway, I saw something called Lilypadz which is like a silicon pad that is supposed to work by applying pressure so no leaks - does anyone know if they really do work Anyway, that's a few months off yet, but saw them in a catalogue that I might place an order from soon so...

Chooster · 13/04/2007 11:03

I saw those too Bodders! I thought they looked good and you'd think that in theory it would work? No experience though I'm afraid. You leaked a lot didn't you... My leakages were not too bad, but still there.

Thats awful about your neighbours and all the miscarriages. When I was younger I never realised how many pregnancies end. I just never would have guessed it was so high.

Firsty - Which travel system did you go with? I'm looking around at the moment and am getting confused - some look great but heavy, others no cot... I had a look at the M&P prammette the other day - you can get one from ebay for a pretty good price (well, relative to the price of a new one), but I'd be interested in what others are getting. Where is Babymad when you need her!!! I'm sure she has a buggy fetish which could help the debate. Babymad, Is everything OK?

Hope everyone else is fine and having a good Friday... I'm doing well but desperately need a pee and am 2 mins late for a meeting in a building which is 5mins walk away - At least I've got my priorities right eh girls!!?

Chooster ? I always leave things to the last minute too and then put myself under tremendous pressure to do the work, like the article I need to write by 5pm and the talk for Weds that I need to write ? ahhhhhhhhhhh! Hope it went well with the MW.

Firsty ? can understand your sentiments about telling people, I suspect I?ll be like that next time round, not that I told many this time but we did plan to spread the happy news when we were safely past 12 weeks ? feel differently now! Sorry to hear the DR let you down. Sounds like you have a good pro-active MW though

Hey Honeyapple ? I know what you mean about the budget we?ll need a last minute all inclusive deal I think ? we?d like to go 18/19 June for 14 nights if we can, 7 if that?s all we can get. I?ll look again in a few weeks. Did you work for someone like Exotic Resorts? They helped with our honeymoon last summer ? we had 3 weeks, 3 resorts and a much larger budget! Good thing is, all our jabs are up to date from the honeymoon but don?t want to take malaria tablets, you?re right! Oh no! who was that Honeyapple? I thought my October pals were safe now Did Joandtheboys ever come back?

Hello Greedy now don?t tease Chooster!

Hi Fettleandmini , Hello Bodkin

I?m furious the GP practice still don?t have my blood clotting results!! They were taken 3 weeks ago! I have an appointment with Dr on Tues and I think in the absence of the results, I should insist she tests again, I am so fed up, I really want to know whether I have this disorder, I?ll feel much better knowing either way..gggggggggggggggggg!

DH just left on Stag to Milan, not back until Monday, feel very clingy and upset he's gone!

I was just wondering whether you had had your test results back. That is sooooo frustrating! Definitely get her to test again. Good luck for Tuesday

oooh, those holidays sound great!!! Keep us up to date MrsMc so we be involved even if not going. It'll be the closest thing that me and DH get to a holiday abroad this year I think.

I'll take a look at the travel system you mention Firsty. I hadn't heard of it so its a new one for my search

That is SO annoying MrsMc - I can imagine you just want to get the results so you can start moving ahead a bit. Its frustrating having tests outstanding cos it just keeps you wondering. By the way, where's our sun gone. DH says its really sunny at home, which is only 4 miles from the city centre where its frrrreeezinnng!!!! Brrrrr

Have you got any good plans while DH is in Milan?

Chooster ? I?ll let you know what we go for! yes, where is our sun, it?s freezing now!! My grandparents are here until Sunday night so I?ll be kicking about with them until then. Holyrood and open top bus tomorrow if the weather?s ok How is DS?

Glad it was good for you Greedy!

Bodkin · 13/04/2007 15:59

Chooster · 13/04/2007 16:00
